Golden oldie

So a cpl weeks ago I resurfaced on Fakeberg, after a VERY extended absence. I never did much like FB and still don’t, but being effectively housebound now it seemed to me that the cursed thing would be an excellent way to stay in touch with friends I’ve otherwise pretty much lost contact with. Anyhoo, as I was scrolling down through the old posts on my main page, I ran across something I thought was just way too cool.

“Conservatism is the Ramones at CBGB – loud, fast and alive. In contrast, liberalism is the headliner at a state fair concert. It’s Foghat, serenading its anesthetized fans as America slow rides into decline.

Back in the 70s, the Ramones put a steel-toed boot into the behind of a fat, flabby rock ‘n roll world that has lost its way. That’s what conservatives are doing today to American politics and culture. And the dinosaur rockers of the status quo hate it.

Look at ancient Hillary Clinton, that improbable Millennial heroine. She’s the Bachman Turner Overdrive of American politics, out there literally taking care of business – especially the businesses who take care of her by paying her hundreds of thousands a pop to come talk to them.

There’s no energy left in liberalism, no excitement, just more rules, more controls, everything the punks hated. You can’t say this, you can’t think that, everybody read the memo – today we’re scheduled to be angry at people don’t want to subsidize our birth control! Oh, and make sure you obtain a videotaped, notarized consent form before you kiss your cisgender hook-up.

Everything about liberalism is stodgy, everything is old, everything is about control. My new book, Conservative Insurgency, a speculative future history of the struggle to retake our culture, shows how the conservatives have the all of the energy and creativity. We want the freedom the punks demanded. The liberals want the opposite. The quintessential liberal isn’t a free-spirited manic pixie dream girl but a grim, bitter nightmare crone enraged because having gender-specific bathrooms in her dorm is history’s greatest hate crime.

Liberalism never tries anything new. It’s a greatest hits album from a crappy band. It’s like the latest incarnation of Styx when whoever the lead singer is announces, “Hey, here’s something off our new album” to the widespread groans of the fans. They just want to hear the classics – more regulations, more taxes, more dough for public employee unions, more stifling of innovation.”

My old and dear friend Rusty Ellis posted this on my Timeline back in July of this year; according to Crusty Rusty, I had Fakebooked it myself some years back, he was just reposting it. Got no inkling where or how I mighta run across the original item, but seeing as how it’s wrapped in quotation marks I’m sure I didn’t write it myself. Whatever the case may be, it hits the nail right square on the noggin, I must say.

Update! It appears that the above is an excerpt from a 2014 Townhall column by Kurt Schlichter. Man, talk about your Golden Oldies…

Q&A

The “Q” I’ll put in boldface, in the excerpt; the “A” will follow.

Mamdani-Backed Socialist Trashes July 4, Says Independence Day ‘Means Nothing’
A New York State Assembly candidate who carries the official stamp of approval from Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani and the Democratic Socialists of America is facing heavy criticism after comments resurfaced in which she trashed the Fourth of July and other American holidays. How much more do the people of New York need to see to understand that the far left hates them and the country, values, and way of life they take for granted on a daily basis?

A: A gargantuan majority of NYC dwellers being dyed-in-the-wool Leftards themselves, they not only know already, they also agree a billion kajillion zillion percent with the expressed sentiments which the PJM scribe finds so abysmally shocking. NYC has been one of the principal havens for Goosesteppin’ Leftists and their demented ideology since the 60s at least, if not well before, and it isn’t remotely likely that that will be changing anytime soon, if ever. See also Shitcago, San Fransicko, El Lay, Ausgrim, Seassole, et al.

It’s an urban thang, see; you hicks from the sticks wouldn’t understand, and shouldn’t even try lest you embarrass yourselves horribly.

All this squawk-squawk here lately about Moslem rapefugees failing to adjust and acclimate themselves to the culture they’re overrunning, when practically every lackwit Progressivist baglapper infesting Western Civ is in even worse need of a healthy dose of assimilation their own foul selves.

“Your world means nothing to them”

Makes us even, I suppose; their world means nothing to me. Less than, actually.

Jean Raspail, mass migration, and the meaning of civilisational surrender
Your world means nothing to them. They won’t try to understand. They’ll be cold. They’ll be hungry. They’ll build a fire with your lovely oak door… Every object will lose the meaning you attach to it. What’s beautiful won’t be beautiful anymore.

In 2015, German Chancellor Angela Merkel famously declared “Wir schaffen das” (“We can do this”) as she opened Germany’s borders to a mass influx of refugees. Over a million asylum-seekers, mainly from Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq poured into Europe amid the continent’s worst refugee crisis since World War II. Supporters hailed Merkel’s open-door stance as a humanitarian duty, but critics warned of economic strain, cultural clashes, and security risks. In the decade since, Europe has indeed grappled with rising migrant crime and social tensions. But beyond the high-profile incidents of violence, everyday indignities have also come to symbolise the cultural disconnect.

One striking example occurred in Brussels, a migrant was caught frying eggs in a pan over the Eternal Flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a memorial honouring Belgian soldiers fallen in World War I. Just weeks earlier, another migrant had been arrested in Paris for lighting a cigarette using the sacred flame under the Arc de Triomphe. Such acts of casual disrespect, unthinkable to the native population fuel public outrage and raise questions about the boundaries of tolerance in European societies. The Brussels incident, in particular, became a viral image on social media, seen by many as a metaphor for how Europe’s heritage and heroes are treated by newcomers who “have no business” being in those countries. While some observers chalk it up to individual homelessness or ignorance, others view it as a grim sign of cultural insensitivity fostered by years of unvetted mass immigration.

These episodes of desecration, however low-level, provoke a visceral reaction because they touch on something deeper than law-and-order. They reflect a erosion of respect for European history and identity under the pressures of uncontrolled migration. It is as if the “eternal flame” of Europe’s memory is being used as a mere campfire by those with no connection to the sacrifices it represents. This sense of humiliation is keenly felt by many Europeans, especially when they remember that countless young men died in the world wars to defend the very civilisation now seemingly taken for granted. Indeed, if those fallen soldiers could see a foreign vagrant cooking his dinner on their memorial flame, would they think their sacrifice was worth it?

To ask the question is to answer it, methinks.

These are merely the opening ‘graphs of a damned excellent (albeit highly discomfiting) article, of which you will definitely want to read the all.

I’ve had an eBook copy of Camp of the Saints sitting on my phone for a good long while now. It occurs to me that I really need to get started reading the darn thing, I’ve waited quite long enough. Key takeaway lines:

Beyond politics, Raspail’s novel and Europe’s real migrant tensions both underscore a fundamental cultural clash. The clash is not simply about religion (though Islam’s spread in Europe is a major factor) but about worldviews, nations and social norms. Camp of the Saints suggests that our civilisation is not communicable to these people, that many of the newcomers neither understand nor respect the ethos of the West.

By George, I think she’s got it. “Not communicable to these people,” though? Oh, I’m afraid it’s a great deal worse than that: it is anathema to them;. Not only do they not “respect” Western Civ, they positively abhor it as innately and irredeemably degenerate, wicked, and outright evil.

Broken

Ooooh goody, ANOTHER layer of FederalGovCo “oversight,”  interference, and impermeably murky bureaucracy.

‘Preservation’ Maneuver by Jamie Raskin Confirms the White House Ballroom Project Has Broken Him
Even if one gave Democrats a fraction of the benefit of the doubt (which we won’t) over their various grievances with President Trump’s America First agenda, the wailing and gnashing of teeth over the ballroom project currently underway at the White House has added a whole new layer of unhinginess to the mix.

This is despite the fact that White House renovations have been undertaken by presidents from both political parties throughout our country’s history, including under both the Obama and Biden administrations.

There have been two lawsuits filed so far over the demolition of the East Wing, one that was filed by a Virginia couple in October but which was voluntarily dismissed, and a more recent one from the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which suffered a setback Tuesday when a federal judge denied them the temporary restraining order they sought to halt below-ground construction as the case proceeds through the courts, as we previously reported.

Meanwhile, Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin (MD-08) announced legislation on Tuesday that effectively confirms that both Trump and the ballroom have broken him:

Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland plans to introduce legislation Tuesday that would subject White House renovations like President Trump’s ballroom project to the same reviews as other federal projects. Currently, the White House is exempt from certain oversight under the National Historic Preservation Act.

Raskin’s bill, called the “People’s White House Historic Preservation Act,” would require White House renovations to undergo a so-called “Section 106 review,” a pre-ground breaking assessment that addresses the impact of renovations on historic buildings and allows the public to weigh in.

“It’s kings who treat public property as private property,” Raskin, the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, told CBS News in a phone interview. “It’s not his house; it’s our house. And if there is going to be construction and renovation expansion or changes, that should go through a regular public process.”

Gee, quelle surprise: as ever, the only cure for purely partisan D卐M☭CRAT disgruntlement is bigger government, more legislation, and another ream or two of mandatory paperwork to be filled out, turned in, checked for proper compliance with all applicable requirements, standards, and procedures, filed, and forgotten.

Myself, I’d like to take this opportunity to commend to y’all’s attention the pungent, clear-eyed analysis proferred by Luke Yarwood mentioned earlier here: “Violence and murder is the only way now. Start off burning every migrant hotel then head off to MP houses in Parliament. We need to take over by force.” Amen to all that, friend.

Denounce Yarwood’s words as nasty, intemperate, extreme, and/or unacceptable if you like; genuflect before the brazen idols of the Wokester/Leftist temple; proclaim your fealty to the PC Leviathan—the man also happens to be right, and we all know he is. Those of us who are presently just too enlightened and overrefined to hear such strong, no-bull language without either holding their noses in mortified revulsion or just collapsing in a dead faint will be singing a very different tune when the Dismal Tide has finally inundated their AO, I’d bet.

Update! Via Ed, just another case in point re the unalterable mindset of these grabby, self-important dullards.

Catch that operative word, did ya? Unregulated. Quelle horreur! Can’t be having that, now can we, Bernadovitch?

When “random”…

Ain’t.

A Lot of “Randomness” About
Some readers have wondered why I have not commented on the weekend shooting at Brown University. That’s chiefly because I have no insight into the event you haven’t heard from others:

The loss of a child offends the natural order. The loss of a child at Christmas taints the season for what’s left of a parent’s life. We know the murder of Sarah Beckstrom at Thanksgiving was a direct consequence of government policy whose terrible costs do not fall on those who impose it. Why Ella Cook was killed we cannot yet say. However, her fellow victim has now been named:

The second victim of the Brown University shooting has been identified as 18-year-old Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov.

After brain surgery at age 10, he always dreamed of becoming a neurosurgeon, which is what he was studying for.

So a rare public conservative on a left-wing campus and a young man called Mukhammad are killed in the classroom of a Jewish professor. Any or none of those could be relevant factors. Alternatively, it could be some other motive – or no motive at all. Just the rotten luck of the draw. I hope we shall find out, but – thanks to the usual clown-car of forty-eight different municipal, county, state and federal “law-enforcement” agencies – the murderer remains at large.

A shitshow of a dumpster fire of a trainwreck of a dog’s breakfast of a shit-circus all around, then—no more nor less than what we’ve come to expect in Amerika v2.0 these days, sad to say.

Sense made, truth told

Thereby provoking hysterical shrieks of OUTRAGE!!!™ from guess who.

Sen. Tuberville Says ‘Islamists’ Are ‘Here to Conquer,’ and Great Pearl-Clutching Ensues
After the Bondi Beach attack in Australia, as well as reports that the Brown University killer screamed “Allahu akbar” as he opened fire, and the ISIS murder of two American servicemen in Syria, and the Muslim student at the University of Delaware who plotted a jihad massacre of campus police, and all the rest, the nation is paying more attention to Islamic jihad in recent days than it has in quite some time, and Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), for one, has had quite enough.

Tuberville wrote Sunday: “Islam is not a religion. It’s a cult. Islamists aren’t here to assimilate. They’re here to conquer. Stop worrying about offending the pearl clutchers. We’ve got to SEND THEM HOME NOW or we’ll become the United Caliphate of America.”

Okay, you want to tell him, or should I?

This was guaranteed, as Tuberville might put it, to offend the pearl-clutchers, and indeed, there was great clutching of pearls throughout our fair land. Sen. Ed Markey (D-Pack the Court) fired back: “These are hateful lies. Islamophobia has no place in our society. MAGA Republicans should stop spewing the kind of hate that divides us and foments violence.”

California State Senator Scott Wiener (D-Depravity) wrote in the same vein: “It’s unwise to respond to every dumb a** bigoted thing people say on the internet, but when a United States senator — albeit the dumbest United States senator — calls for denaturalization & deportation of an entire religion, you have to call it out as the evil it is.”

Not to be outdone, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Would You Like An Olive?) added: “The normalization and acceptance of Islamophobia in our politics is disgusting. Our Muslim neighbors are not Republicans’ scapegoats for antisemitic attacks and Trump’s failed policies. We must absolutely condemn Islamophobia loudly and hold those perpetuating it accountable.”

Plainly, before we begin booting out the Moslems we’re gonna have to rid ourselves of the Leftards.

It’s Robert Spencer, so natutrally you’re going to want to rea∂ it all.

Obvious question, obvious answer

Take ’em out from twenty feet away, or close with ‘em? That’s a no-brainer if ever there was one.

Want to Reduce Violent Crime Against Women? Get More of Them to Carry a Gun
While there is a kernel of truth behind the advice to remain passive when confronted by a criminal, the claim is highly misleading. Data from the Bureau of Justice Statistics’ National Crime Victimization Survey shows that passive behavior appears slightly safer than all forms of active resistance combined – but that comparison lumps together very different actions.

For women, the most dangerous form of resistance is to fight with their fists, because doing so often triggers a violent physical reaction from the attacker. The next most dangerous choice is to run. Escaping is ideal when possible, but women generally run more slowly than men, and being tackled can produce serious injury. Other options such as using a baseball bat or a knife turn out not to be a lot better because women are at a disadvantage whenever they come into physical contact with a male attacker.

By contrast, the safest option for a woman confronted by a criminal is to have a gun. Women who rely on passive behavior are 2.5 times more likely to suffer serious injury than women who defend themselves with a firearm.

Bold mine, and for some bizarre reason totally incomprehensible to shitlibs. Hell, they can’t seem to grasp it even after it’s been calmly, patiently explained to them about a blue million tiimes or thereabouts.

AWFL Karen=Dolores Umbridge.

Ya hit the nail right square on the head with this one, Frank. As big a Potter fan as I am, still that connection had somehow escaped my notice until just now.

Update! A commenter makes anoher clear connection.

Annnnd ANOTHER nice catch.

S’truth.

Beware of shitlibs crying “Nuremberg v2.0!”

Via Driscoll, a useful albeit sobering reminder.

“Show more,” I defy thee!

Nuremberg followed the total military defeat of the Nazi regime.

It didn’t appear out of political frustration or anger or internet righteousness. It came after unconditional surrender and the collapse of a government through war.

So when people on social media speak openly of “Nuremberg 2.0” for their political opponents, they’re telling you something dangerous.

They believe they’re in a war, not a democracy. And in war, they think they’re entitled to hang the losers.

Remember this for anyone slinging around “Nuremberg”. It’s reckless.

Remember indeed. Above all else, remember too that they are in no way kidding around, exaggerating for effect, or hyperbolizing when they say such things, and that their belief in their own moral and intellectual superiority is absolute, inarguable, and as solid as the Rock of Gibraltar. Also, they believe not just that they’re in a war, but that they will inevitably prevail, after which smashing victory they will grind the enemy under their jackbooted heel forever.

WRECKED ’em

What Coleman said.

PREACH it, bruh.

A perfect plan…

…yields perfect results.

Nolte: On This Thanksgiving, Democrats Are Grateful Two National Guardsmen Got Shot by an Afghan ‘Refugee’
The plan the Democrat Party put together years ago just came out perfect: according to various reports, an unvetted Afghan national who overstayed his visa is accused of shooting two members of the National Guard on Thanksgiving Eve in Washington D.C.

Indeed so. In fact, the only glaring flaw I can see in this deal so far is that no one—goat, male child, young non-Moslem woman—appears to have been raped by this Muzzie animal.

Yet, I should probably say. YET.

There’s more to John’s piece still, which I didn’t read on account of it’s too fuckingINFURIATING.

We all know it’s never going to happen, but I’ll say it anyway: every last one of these Muzzrat filthbags—be they Somalis, Saudis, Yemenis, don’t give a whoop in Hell—must be removed from our country and sent the fuck back to wherever they came from. EVERY. LAST. ONE. They have no right to be in this country, dont belong here, and they all must go, the sooner the better.

Update! Prescient, or just self-honest and perceptive enough to be able to make out the obvious despite the shitlib smokescreen?

What Charlie Kirk Said About Biden’s Afghan Refugee Crisis Has New Meaning Today
Of course, the Biden administration assured Americans that every Afghan entering under that program went through strict vetting. Few believed it then, and it certainly rings hollow now; the shooting looks like a direct consequence of the recklessness that defined Biden’s withdrawal.

And Charlie Kirk not only warned us about this, but also believed it was intentional. Back in August of 2021, Kirk saw the chaos as a political strategy wrapped in humanitarian messaging.

While the Biden White House worked to paint the evacuation as compassionate, Kirk saw deeper motives. He connected the rushed inflow of evacuees to the broader political ambitions of the Biden administration.

Kirk wanted listeners to understand the deeper strategy. It wasn’t about humanitarian aid. It wasn’t about repairing a crisis. It was about importing a new electorate. He held nothing back. “What’s going on here is Joe Biden wants a couple hundred thousand more Ilhan Omars to come into America to change the body politic permanently,” he continued.

Sadly, it was worse than that. The Biden administration failed to properly vet people and inevitably let in people who wished to do harm to the country.

Well, of COURSE he did. Why on Earth wouldn’t he, after all? “Doing harm to the country” is ultimately what Bribem and every other Dem/Leftist/shitlib are really all about, whatever their “moderate” spokescreatures might claim to the contrary.

Still think you can be friends with these asswipes?

Or for that matter, live peaceably alongside them? Really, why would you even want to?

“Racially aggravated graffiti,” no less. “Takes aim at people of color,” sez they. Shitlibs can discern all that double-plus-ungood Badthink from a decidedly mild, innocuous message announcing simply that “it’s okay to be White,” nothing whatsoever more? No “hate,” no derogation, no insult, no extremist cant, no threats of any kind either expressed or implied in said message. Not anything obnoxious along the lines of “Whites rule!” or “I’m so glad I’m White!” or “Black Power, White control!” Just that mild-mannered, meek, unassuming “It’s okay…” assertion.

If the hysterical, unhinged reaction to this bland, sotto voce announcement is any indication, we must assume that no, it is definitely NOT “okay to be white” after all.

It must be acknowledged by Our Side, while we’re still allowed to take note of such preposterous rubbish without being packed off to Summer Reeducation Camp without the option: the problem for Progressivists here is entirely and exclusively with the extremely dangerous notion that some melanin-challenged Pyrrsynnnz Of Whiteness might NOT feel properly ashamed, fearful, and inferior because they are in fact Caucasian/WASP/Anglo-Saxon, thereby perpetuating the countless enormities, crimes, and heartless, savage rape of the planet, the climate, the planetary atmosphere. and every living thing on, in, and/or over it committed by the White Race—a brutish Race spawned by demons, raised by fiends, released from Hell by Satan Himself to go forth and wreak bloody havoc on all that was once fair, pure, and worthwhile in this weary world.

Unique among all Earthly beings, the White Race chose to live not by the creed of empathy, self-effacement, sustainability, and reverence for Nature, but to instead hew to greed, unreflective hatred and bigotry, callow materialism, and conquest. Unlike more enlightened, well-adjusted Progressivists who regard our Good Earth not as mere property to be exploited by those possessed of the will, the brawn, and the audacity to make a proper job of it, but as the gentle, loving, benevolent Mother Of Us All which Humanity is charged with caring for, tending, and adoring. The Earth, being the home of every man, beast, plant, and mineral, must NEVER be taken for granted, abused, stripped bare and cast aside, but nurtured, praised, even worshipped as a God(ess), She from whom all blessings flow©.

Contra the foolishly humanocentric belief commonly held in antiquity that our planet is sturdy, strong, capable of endlessly replenishing, rejuvenating, and healing itself of all wounds, Progressivists know that the Earth is actually quite fragile, its processes so precisely balanced and finely-tuned that the whole shebang could be brought crashing down by nothing more extraordinary than the breath of a tiny hummingbird which exhales in the wrong place at the wrong moment. In fact, so delicate is Mother Earth that She could all too easily be broken completely and for all time by conniving industrialists, unthinking outdoorsmen, and the ugly, noisy mechanical contraptions belching out smoke, toxins, and non-biodegradable waste by-products with which White people have, since time immemorial, been blighting the landscape from horizon to horizon in the name of convenience, efficiency, their own amusement, or for no better reason than that they felt like it.

The White Man: builder of factories; railroads, cities, and suburbs; inventor of the machine gun, the bayonet, and the guillotine; practitioner of chattel slavery, trench warfare, and strategic bombing. Sexually repressed, morally vapid, intellectually stunted. Burner of books, witches, forests, and fossil fuels. He is a seriously, SERIOUSLY bad dancer. He viscerally abhors indolence; iconoclasm; rebels whether with or without a cause; food with actual, noticeable flavor, texture, seasoning, and aroma. His literature is uninteresting, his art imitative, his music (if any) dull, lifeless, eminently forgettable.

The White Man will never, ever make a scene, call undue attention to himself, act up in public, raise a ruckus, send a badly-prepared entree back to the kitchen to be either corrected or replaced altogether.

White People gave the world the curfew, social distancing, the HOA, polyester, stagflation, Hacky Sack, and the Man Bun. Uptight, thy name might be Whitey.

“We messed up”

Cracker Barrel execs play the Contrition card. But might there be more to all this than meets the eye?

Few stories grabbed national attention quite like the Cracker Barrel rebrand did this year. Even amid endless high-profile developments in Washington, the Cracker Barrel rebrand stood out as offensive to Americans everywhere.

Like Bud Light’s partnership with transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney, Cracker Barrel’s new look felt like an attack on an American institution from an out-of-touch C-suite that bought into the leftist idea of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The backlash was so severe that the company publicly slammed the brakes on their modern makeover and promised Americans they weren’t changing a thing.

Despite this course correction, it was clear that someone at the top had lost the plot, and when Cracker Barrel shareholders voted for board nominees, DEI consultant Gilbert Dávila was not one of them. As I reported on Thursday, Dávila resigned from his position.

Nice that the clueless Wokester shit-slurper is gone and all, but come ON now: the Executive Suite screws the pooch this badly, and all the CB brain-trust can manage is to dump one lousy consultant over it? Looks like the ol’ Barrel is still et up with the dumbass at the higher levels.

That said, here’s where things start to smell a little funny.

Now, Cracker Barrel CEO Julie Felss Masino, who survived the shareholder vote, is sitting down for interviews, and her first is with Glenn Beck.

In an interview that took place at a Cracker Barrel location, Beck asked them directly what happened to lead them to such a “stupid” decision, comparing it to Coca-Cola’s “new recipe.”

“Our guests have a right to be upset,” Masino told Beck. “We messed up. The intent was not ideological. It was not to put the old version of Cracker Barrel in a box. It was not the intent whatsoever.”

Later, Beck went on to ask if the company had “embraced DEI as a culture.” Masino, seemingly giving the most sterile answer she could, told Beck that Cracker Barrel has always tried to be a welcoming place for everyone. Thankfully, Beck pressed the question by asking if political statements were intended from the rebrand.

“No, it’s pancakes,” said Masino.

I find it very interesting that the conversation was steered into what Cracker Barrel was doing wrong in terms of their food and service by Doug Hisel, the Senior Vice President, who also took part in the interview.

Which jibes rather nicely with all the other stuff I’ve read saying that Cracker Barrel was hemorrhaging customers, employees, and money thanks to ever-crappier food, unclean restaurants, insolent, glacier-slow service, etc well before the ill-considered rebrand ever happened. Which kinda tells me that CB high muckety-mucks have had nothing but disdain, dislike, and outright animosity for their most diehard, core customers for a goodish while now, and almost certainly still feel the same way. Which, in turn, means that Cracker Barrel’s troubles and woe aren’t by any stretch over yet.

If Masino is telling the truth, and this rebrand wasn’t at all DEI-driven, then it was incredibly short-sighted at best. However, it’s pretty clear that Cracker Barrel was involved in DEI-related activities and was becoming increasingly friendly with leftist causes. As Fox News reported through an interview with Robby Starbuck, the restaurant chain kept adopting more and more LGBTQ+ themes…

And now, we come to the main reason I wanted to post on this in the first dang place. Ready, everybody?

Starbuck highlights Cracker Barrel’s support for LGBTQ+ organizations and events, such as Nashville Pride, River City Pride and the Human Rights Campaign (HRC).

He also noted that the company displayed rocking chairs with rainbow colors and LGBTQ+ insignia. The company even went so far as to place one in its Tennessee corporate office. Rocking chairs are practically synonymous with Cracker Barrel, with the restaurant’s long porches lined with them at locations nationwide.

“The fact that it’s located there is important to this story because what’s happened here is a microcosm of the parasitic operating procedure of left-wing activists,” Starbuck said. “They don’t just wanna force their soulless, godless, hedonistic vision of the future onto blue hellscapes that their party controls.

“No, it’s much more important to them that they shove it down into your towns, into your kids’ schools and into your way of life. So, sticking a pro-trans rocking chair into their headquarters in a predominantly conservative town is exactly the type of thing they revel in doing.”

Oh, HELL yeah—nice rip, Rob. Bold mine, natch, because that shit just rocks.

Up-down Innarnuts

Interesting prediction from Mark Steyn.

The Shrinking Horizon
Apparently, some twenty-five per cent of the Internet was inaccessible for much of the day – including (depending where you were) significant parts of the Steyn empire. Get used to it. A few years hence, “surfing the net” is going to be like switching on your kitchen light in Baghdad outside the Green Zone. This will be because China and other hostile powers will enjoy messing with us just to probe our strengths and weaknesses. But it will also be because the west’s own governments will appreciate the advantages of a more conditional Internet. Let us say that, oh, multiple schoolgirls get stabbed in Southport or Dublin. Or another couple of French schoolteachers are beheaded by their students. Or two German Christmas markets get mown down on the same day. Just in case some intemperate Lucy Connolly types are tempted to weigh in, would it not be in everyone’s interest for social media to be mysteriously afflicted by a Distributed Denial of Service?

Hate to say it, but put this way it sounds not nearly so far-fetched as I could wish.

You’ll want to read the rest, it being Steyn and all. The bit towards the end about the sudden meteoric rise in the number of mosques in Texas (!!) will freeze your gizzard, so chilling is it. Steyn keeps things light by reeling off a punny quip:

So a new mosque opens in the Lone Star State every fortnight? We are told “don’t mess with Texas”, but apparently you can mosque with Texas to your heart’s content.

Heh. Yep, apparently so. Which just makes Texas exactly like all too many other places in the Recumbent West these days.

Tucker: what happened?

One of the biggest disappointments for me over the past 3-4 years or so has been Tucker Carlson’s slow, sad slide from being one of the most effective, entertaining, and influential commentators on Our Side down to being just another gibbering, flakey-fringey weirdo who just doesn’t know when to shut up, but badly needs to learn. His baffling decision to sign on with the stupid, self-negating Kike-O-Phobic legions and start in. on peddling that rancid swill pains me no end. It would seem that PJM’s Scott Pinsker, whom I have excerpted/linked here many times before, shares my dismay (NOTE: No link; I didn’t include it when I began working on this post weeks ago and can’t find the original article now).

Two plotlines that keep popping up nowadays are centered on two specific themes: “Watch out for the Jews!” and “Everybody’s a Nazi but my guy.”

For the former, the Democratic Party had a near-total monopoly of the Hamas-loving, Jew-hating antisemites. Not every Democrat was an antisemite, but if you were marching against Israel, cosplaying in a keffiyeh, and harassing Jewish students, I’ll bet your bottom shekel that you didn’t vote Republican in the last election.

Until Oct. 7, 2023, hating Israel and linking “those Jews” to kooky conspiracies was strictly a leftwing phenomenon. Conservatives didn’t traffic in that trope.

Not so anymore.

And I’m not just talking about fringe voices — like Candace Owens, Nick Fuentes, and Marjorie Taylor Greene. I’m talking about one of the biggest, most influential, most widely-followed conservatives in the country: Tucker Carlson.

He’s done more to mainstream antisemitism in the Republican Party than anyone alive.

Carlson operates under the façade of “just asking questions,” which sounds innocuous enough: How could you possibly fault a guy for being so gosh-darn intellectually curious, hmm? Unless… (gasp) you’re HIDING something dastardly!

But it’s NOT intellectual curiosity. He’s NOT an investigative reporter, doggedly following the facts wherever they lead him, damning the consequences along the way.

He’s a professional propagandist who profits from peddling lies, conspiracies, and bigotry. He’s not “just asking questions” because he’s curious; he’s doing it because it’s profitable.

This is how he makes money.

I also don’t think it’s coincidental that Carlson’s antisemitic, anti-Israel “political conversion” came at the same time Qatar and Saudi Arabia launched a multibillion-dollar PR campaign to influence American opinion. Seems a bit too on-the-nose for that.

Don’t know if I can honestly say I’m with our boy Scott one hundred percent on this one. Specifically, I cant imagine that Tucker started spewing this bilious twaddle exclusively, nor even mainly, for the money. I very much doubt that; even with Qatar, the UAE, and the House of Saud kicking in, I simply do not believe that there’s very much money in hawking up Crackpot Right calumnies against the Tribe© and all its nefarious machinations.

The above is the first part of a MUCH longer post I’ve had sitting in the “Local Drafts” hopper waiting for me to find a place for it out front here…which I just did, on account of another solid “Whither Tucker?” piece over at PJM, this one exploring the similarities and (especially) the glaring differences between Tucker and Mark Levin. To wit:

For years, Mark Levin and Tucker Carlson have been two of the most prominent conservative voices in the public arena. Currently, they are in a feud with each other. Levin has accused Carlson of being an antisemite and “fake Maga,” and Carlson has called Levin “evil.” Both men have been trusted for so many years, and it is important for the conservative movement in America that we take an honest look at each man, their feud, and the truth.

The styles of these two men are diametrically opposed, and this undoubtedly affects the feelings of people towards each man. Mark Levin is passionate and blunt; like a targeted bunker-busting bomb, he honestly and clearly makes his points and arguments. Carlson, on the other hand, is the exact opposite. More like a stealth fighter, Tucker Carlson is smooth and polished, saying more through implications and inferences than actually making clear statements. He often phrases his opinions as “Why can’t we just ask…,” as opposed to Levin, who clearly and cogently expresses his opinions not as questions but as facts.

The men are very different both as human beings and as commentators. Levin was heavily involved in actual politics prior to becoming a commentator, having worked in President Ronald Reagan’s administration as well as serving as chief of staff for Attorney General Edwin Meese. He is the former president of the Landmark Legal Foundation, an author of seven bestselling books, and, since 2015, editor-in-chief of the Conservative Review. From the time that Donald Trump got the presidential nomination in 2016, Levin has been an ardent and consistent Trump supporter. In April 2025, President Trump appointed Levin to become a member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council. Throughout his career, his opinions have been consistent. He’s condemned “Republicans in Name Only,” supported Israel as the first line of defense in the Islamic war against Western Civilization, and exposed the deep state coalition between Democrats and the media.

Tucker Carlson is almost the exact opposite type of human being in every way, having spent his entire career in media, first as a writer before moving into other media. His shows on X and the Tucker Carlson Network have made him one of the largest media personalities in the world, with almost four times as many followers on X as Levin. He has changed his public opinions on many issues multiple times. Formerly an economic libertarian, he now supports protectionism. Although originally supportive of the Iraq war, in 2004 he renounced his initial support for the war and now opposes U.S. foreign interventions. From 2000-2005 he was the “conservative” voice on CNN, NPR, and MSNBC. He was on Fox New until he was fired in 2023; he then started his own media company. Whereas Levin has always been a Republican since his graduation from college at the age of 19, Carlson was registered as a Democrat from 2006 to 2020, and even claimed to have voted for Kanye West over Trump in the 2020 election. Tucker was a supporter of John McCain; claims to be against abortion (more on that in a moment); and, at different times, has supported authoritarian regimes like Putin in Russia and Assad in Syria. Carlson has waffled over the years between supporting Trump and castigating him (in a 2023 court filing, Carlson’s text messages were exposed, in which he wrote that he hated Trump “passionately”); and most recently has come into conflict with the president regarding Israel, foreign policy, and a number of other issues.

Worth reading in full, I’d say, unless you care even less about Tucker Carlson’s bizarre collapse into the Jew-fetishism of the Crackpot Right than I do, which quite frankly would be very hard to do without spraining something. That said, i somehow managed to read the whole thing nevertheless and enjoyed it, so perhaps you might also.

If you are in fact a legit hooman bean desirous of registering yourself a CF user name so as to be able to comment only to find yourself caught up as collateral damage in one of my irregularly (un)scheduled sweeps for hinky registration attempts, please shoot me a kite at the email addy over in the right sidebar and let me know so’s I can get ya fixed up manually.

ALSO NOTE: You MUST use a valid, legit email address in order to successfully register, the new anti-spam software I installed last night requires it. My thanks to Barry for all his help sorting this mess out last night.

Comments appear entirely at the whim of the guy who pays the bills for this site and may be deleted, ridiculed, maliciously edited for purposes of mockery, or otherwise pissed over as he in his capricious fancy sees fit. The CF comments section is pretty free-form and rough and tumble; tolerance level for rowdiness and misbehavior is fairly high here, but is NOT without limit.

Conduct yourself with the merest modicum of decorum, courtesy, and respect and you'll be fine. Pick pointless squabbles with other commenters, fling provocative personal insults, issue threats, or annoy the host (me) and...you won't.

Should you find yourself sanctioned after running afoul of the CF comments policy as stated and feel you have been wronged, please download and complete the Butthurt Report form below in quadruplicate; retain one copy for your personal records and send the others to the email address posted in the right sidebar.
