He isn’t right every time

Of course he isn’t; being as human as anybody else, he can’t be. But when he’s right, the man is fucking-A RIGHT.

This would be one of those times.

The whole durn thang.

TRUMP DID THE FOLLOWING:
– Called out the UN for ignoring Christian persecution worldwide while obsessing over America
– Demanded every ICC member resign immediately from that rogue anti-American tribunal
– Called Communist Cuba a failed state that will fall, then watched officials storm out
– Declared there is no human right to illegal immigration, only the right to stay a sovereign nation
– Scorched UNESCO globalists for pushing mass migration that destroys Western cultures
– Said there is NO global government and there will be NO global taxes while he is president
– Bragged that America cut the UN budget 15% and killed over 4,000 bureaucracy jobs
– Boasted of the most secure border in American history with ZERO illegal aliens admitted
– Declared America is BACK, stronger than ever, and in a GOLDEN AGE after Biden’s dark age
– Mic-dropped failed globalist leaders: while others talked peace, he MADE peace
– Vowed Iran will NEVER get a nuclear weapon and said the Middle East bully is finished
– Teased a huge post-election decision: strike a deal, or annihilate the Islamic Republic
– Exposed Iran as weak and desperate, not strong, and predicted Iranian terror’s end
– Slammed cowards and traitors leaking fake “low munitions” claims mid-conflict
– Took a victory lap over capturing Maduro and signing the largest oil deal in history
– Laid down the Donroe Doctrine: no threats get a foothold in the Western Hemisphere
– Refused to apologize for crushing drug cartels, calling them the ISIS of the hemisphere
– Locked in permanent Greenland security rights that shut out China, Russia, and adversary investment
– Renamed Artificial Intelligence to Super Intelligence and vowed America stays #1 over China
– Closed with a nationalist call to strengthen nations, grow economies, and God bless America

And that’s just a non-exhaustive list.

Amazingly enough, it is. About damned time a US Prexy had balls enough to beard the UN lion in its very den, sayeth I. Via Ace.

Queer community SPLINTERED!!!

Shocking, unexpected, and extravagantly out of character, I know.

The August 31 Instagram post from Last Ditch Bar and Arts Venue, a lesbian bar in Greenfield, was upbeat, teasing a new DJ lineup and a volunteer meetup. But partway down the rainbow-hued post labeled “UPDATES!” was a sentence that would splinter the queer community in this small Pioneer Valley city and beyond. “It is with love we inform our immunocompromised disabled divas we will be opening Saturday nights as mask optional,” wrote Last Ditch.

Previously, patrons were required to wear a well-fitted KN-95 mask “or better” at all times.

The new policy was not received with love.

“Just say you’re being complicit in a mass disabling event and get it over with,” wrote one commenter.

“people like you kill disabled people in the name of your own leisure and convenience,” posted another.

“I hope your venue gets firebombed for robbing my fellow immunocompromised people of their Saturday plans just to scrape extra revenue from ablists [sic],” wrote a third.

Oh, forgot to mention “pathetic” up there, didn’t I? Feel free to throw that in in your heads, gang. Mea maxima culpas for that most lamentable lapse.

Link all squinched up in the original Insty post, so I just went with Ed’s excerpt.

Life, imitating art

Okay, I gotta admit, when I saw this my mind was well and truly blown.

Here’s the Answer to Those White House Tweets Teasing That ‘Something’s Coming’
CNN, MS NOW, and Politico were banned from White House briefings by President Donald Trump last week for being “fake news.” They responded by making a joint statement on Monday announcing they would be suing to get their access restored.

Then other media outlets that were involved in the pool coverage of the White House said they would be suspending their coverage of Trump and the White House in response to the ban of the outlets.

The whining was something.

Then the White House teased that “something was coming” and advised people to watch the White House X account.

The White House appears to be getting ready to do an end run around the legacy media. They just posted this tweet.

Now, all that’s hilarious enough already, yeah. BUT, just to make the whole scenario even more delicious, jam-packed with rich, buttery goodness, and SOOO good for you, here’s the rest of the story.

See, I just happen to be about a third of the way through Book 5 of Kurt Schlichter’s awesome Kelly Turnbull series of novels, this one titled Crisis, when what to my wondering eyes should appear but the introduction of a new character, a highly atypical female TeeWee news-wench name of Avery Barnes. Check it:

“Hey,” said a woman’s voice from behind Turnbull, one with a lightly suppressed Southern lilt. “You in the leather jacket.”

Turnbull pivoted, assuming he’d draw the SIG and go for a Mozambique drill on his interlocutor – two in the chest, one in the hat rack – if it came to that. But his kill plan wasn’t necessary, at least not at that moment.

The woman calling to him was a pretty blonde in her early 30s, clearly a reporter since a cameraman was standing next to her, munching on a green apple and looking bored. He was dressed like a hobo, as field cameramen generally are, but she was extremely put together. She looked like she was about to walk into her suburban Georgia Baptist church for the first time after getting divorced, with a slightly too-tight red dress that hovered above her knees, loads of make-up, and every hair locked into its assigned place. The mic she held said “Trump News Network” in gold letters.

SO. If the White House staff haven’t come up with a name for this new venture yet, I may could offer a suggestion.

Gratitude

Q: Do dolphins understand and/or experience human emotional reactions such as gratitude?

A:

Those signs the Magic 8-ball just mentioned:

Massimo
@Rainmaker1973

She didn’t just swim away: she came back with gifts.

After rescuers freed her calf from a fishing net, a mother dolphin began regularly leaving fresh fish on a dock as a touching “thank you” gesture.

In July 2025, a dolphin calf became entangled in fishing gear near a marina. A man named Tom and other local boat owners successfully freed the calf and reunited it with its distressed mother. Days later, people at a nearby dock started discovering neatly placed fresh fish each morning.

Initially suspecting a prank, they checked surveillance footage and were stunned to see a dolphin surfacing at night, gently placing fish on the wooden dock before swimming off. The behavior was soon linked to the recent rescue, leading many to believe the mother dolphin was deliberately thanking the man who helped save her baby.

She repeated the act multiple times. While marine biologists are cautious about attributing human emotions like gratitude to animals, they note that dolphins possess high intelligence and complex social awareness. Real or symbolic, the story has captured hearts worldwide as a beautiful example of the special bond between humans and dolphins.

Awwww.

Bullshit artist

Y’know, for a fella who starts his article off by saying “I don’t normally comment on political races,” he sure packs a helluva wallop.

Calling Bullsh-t on James Talarico
Jesus is not your campaign surrogate.

I don’t normally comment on political races, but when I see someone who is as fundamentally full of sh-t as James Talarico, I believe it is my duty to say something about it. James Talarico is now the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate from Texas, having defeated Jasmine Crockett in the 2026 primary. He has discovered a political instrument more powerful than a Super PAC, more versatile than a focus group, and considerably harder to interview: Jesus Christ. After generations of right-wing Protestant pastors hijacking the message of Jesus and turning him into some kind of political football, you have to hand it to James. After all, he is shameless enough to say, why not me?

Down in the backwater leftist stronghold of Austin, Texas, Talarico is selling progressive politics with a halo. He has shamelessly transformed Jesus into a mouthpiece for leftist progressivism. But that same feeling that we used to get when we watched the PTL Club pervades his aura. I have to hand it to American Protestantism; despite its amazing versatility, it can still make you feel dirty, cheap, and used.

Talarico’s maneuver is a simple one for the simple-minded. He selects biblical passages that he can bastardize and put into the service of leftist progressivism, as if it were a direct command from the Lord Jesus Christ to the White House and the U.S. Senate. Jesus becomes a mouthpiece for the massive expansion of government, open borders and illegal immigration, and NGOs. However, the clarity of his stance rolls into the fog the moment that the fate of an unborn child enters the discussion.

It would be too simple to call him a political whore. But I have to say that hearing him speak makes me nostalgic for Jasmine Crockett. Talarico has shamelessly peddled the God-loves-abortion argument that was vomited out by his professors at the far-left seminary he attended in Austin. Just a quick review of the course catalogue puts the “seminary” in the same political hotbox as any American progressive propaganda center these days. As a survivor of Harvard Divinity School, I can recognize all the usual fluff: Activism and the Old Testament Scriptures, Womanist and Feminist readings of the New Testament, Immigration and the Old Testament, Communication for Ministries of Social Justice. At Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, there is not even a pretense to read the Bible through anything other than a Marxist, feminist lens. The historical texts never stood a chance.

What is especially loathsome about these seminaries is that they seem to barely read the printed word and have no real interest in what the Gospels actually say. Their efforts have been directed toward “demythologizing” the gospel (Rudolf Bultmann), finding the secular meaning (Paul van Buren), secularizing the message (Harvey Cox, The Secular City), or drawing a picture of God to their liking, literally conjured up from thin air (God the Problem, Gordon Kaufman). Then there are the feminist wackos like Mary Daly, the “theologian” who despised all men, would not accept men into her classroom, and would only refer to God as “Goddess.” For any serious scholar who actually wants to study Augustine, Aquinas, Athanasius, Luther, or the actual Bible, stay the hell away from a mainstream Protestant seminary. They wouldn’t know a Bible if it fell off the shelf and hit them over the head. They haven’t even lifted their heads out of Das Kapital for the last 75 years.

“It would be too simple,” you say? I dunno, myself; seems to me that calling the smarmy cockholster a “political whore” meets the case quite nicely.

You may not be interested in war…

But war is interested in YOU.

Eric S. Raymond
@esrtweet

The city of Narva, Estonia, sits at the Russian border, on the Narva river, opposite the zone where the Russians have declared a curfew for its inhabitants and a no-go zone for people who don’t already live there.

Narva is 87% ethnic Russian.

There are intelligence reports that Russia has been building hospital facilities near this border.

Russian border guards have been spotted shoring up the banks of the Narva River in exactly the way you would expect if you thought they were going to throw expedient military bridges across it.

Russian border guards have also removed a set of buoys in the river marking the Russian-Estonian border, sparking a formal protest from the Estonian government.

Putin has claimed the right to intravene militarily to protect “oppressed” ethnic Russians in the near abroad. The invasion and annexation of Crimea was justified on these grounds.

These are all facts. Draw your own conclusions.

A few more cold, hard facts from Stephen, including what may end up being the one that really tells the story (bold mine).

But here’s where it gets truly disturbing: “The city of Narva, Estonia, sits at the Russian border, on the Narva river, opposite the zone where the Russians have declared a curfew for its inhabitants and a no-go zone for people who don’t already live there.“

Narva is 87% ethnic Russian, a result of Russian colonization efforts in the Baltics, both during the Czarist and Soviet era. “Putin has claimed the right to intervene militarily to protect ‘oppressed’ ethnic Russians in the near abroad,” Eric posted. “The invasion and annexation of Crimea [in 2014] was justified on these grounds.”

I make zero predictions, none whatsoever, about what comes next.

It seems absolutely insane by most measures for Putin to make warlike moves like these while virtually all of Russia’s conventional combat power remains committed to his own Forever War in Ukraine.

But then I’m reminded of a quote attributed to Dwight Eisenhower: “If a problem cannot be solved, enlarge it.”

Maybe a real test of NATO resolve — and perhaps fracturing the alliance, if Putin can make a joke out of Article 5 — is the Russian leader’s way of enlarging the unsolvable problem of Ukraine.

And if NATO resolve is not found wanting?

I’m not sure I want to know, but I’m not the one throwing the dice on the banks of the Narva River.

Disturbing, no?

Lessee…

Aiight, just for the sheer hell of it, were gonna try something here.

InmanVid.mp4

Swiped from the esteemed (and usually estoned and esdrunked*) Boilerdoc, for purposes of gratuitous experimentation. Now to hit “Publish” and see if it actually works.

Update! Well, that’s nice and all, but not quite what I was aiming for. You can click on the “InmanVid” link to watch the vid, but I was hoping to embed the stupid thing. Oh well, I am NOT gonna spend the rest of my natural life fumble-fucking around with this shite.

UNEXPECTED!©

Gee, who among us saw THIS one coming?

New Crime Stats: Children of Migrants More Likely to Be Criminals Than First Generation
I have been following Danish crime stats because Denmark is one of the few countries that track crime using key demographic variables such as race, religion, country of origin, and immigration status (and their descendants).

For years now, Danish crime statistics tell us what we already can intuit from the data we do have: migrants from Muslim countries commit crimes at a vastly higher rate than native-born Europeans, and the statistics indicate that the rates aren’t even close. They are especially represented in the sexual crime statistics, but in just about every category, the differences are remarkable.

But what most people who support mass migration might be surprised to learn is this: their male descendants are even more likely to commit crimes and are often more likely to be Islamist extremists than their parents. Again, the statistics show the differences aren’t even close.

Here are the basic facts: as first-generation Muslim immigrants have aged, their propensity to commit crimes has decreased somewhat, leading to a slight decline in first-generation crime statistics. They are now only about two times more likely to commit crimes as native-born Danes, which is still pretty bad.

More worrying is that their sons are even more likely to commit crimes than they were; the rate is three times as high, or even higher in some cases, and they are also more likely to see themselves as the natural replacements for a declining population in their adopted countries.

Indisputable confirmation of the essential truth underpinning the hoary old maxim: Invite the Third World, become the Third World.

1st Amendment abolished, freedom of speech canceled

Dick-tater gonna dick-tate, tyrant gonna tyrant.

Pearl Clutching
Trump excluded certain left leaning members of the MSM from the White House grounds. The left is losing their collective minds, claiming this to be an unprecedented assault on the First Amendment, and of course making comparisons to Hitler, their standard accusation. They have almost completely memory holed the fact that both Obama and Biden did the same thing.

In October 2009, amid a feud in which White House officials (including Communications Director Anita Dunn) publicly described Fox News as not a legitimate news organization but more like “the research arm or the communications arm of the Republican Party” and said they would treat it “the way we would treat an opponent,” even while saying the network’s point of view was “ultimately destructive” to the nation, then ordered the Treasury Department to exclude a Fox journalist from a multi-network interview pool.

Obama’s administration was widely criticized by journalists (including from outlets not aligned with Fox) for tight control of information, fewer formal press conferences than many predecessors, restricted photographer access (favoring official White House images), delays or stonewalling on FOIA, and “blackballing” or limiting access for some critical reporters at agencies.

Obama’s efforts to plug leaks and persecute leakers even exceeded those of George W. Bush’s administration. The administration prosecuted Stephen Kim, a former State Department official, merely for discussing a classified report about North Korea with Fox News reporter James Rosen, even going so far as to seize Associated Press phone records for two months and used the FBI to conduct surveillance on James Rosen (naming him as an “unindicted co-conspirator” in one case) and New York Times reporter James Risen while trying to identify sources.

DM has much, much more yet.

Myself, I’m perfectly fine with treating The Enemy as if he was, y’know, The Enemy. Likewise, I’m also A-okay with ass-munching libtard ”journalists” bawling their eyes out nonstop, provided they’re being given beaucoup reason for it.

The WINNAHS!

What could be finer than my two absolute favorite females together in the same X/Tweet?

Excellent quote re Sophie: “Again, the WNBA enforcer opens her mouth and out pours the common sense and reason.” Annnnnd BINGO! Nailed it in one. Sophie girl is definitely prone to that sort of thing, bless her smokin’ hot self.

Update! One of the all-time great Sophie C moments. Not the clothesline, natch, but just take note of how many people it took to pull My Girl off of that cultural-appropriating fake-blonde cheater bitch.

It’s plain to see, from the first part of the vid, that Sophie C has NO problem at all with playing what you might call a physical game. No whiner, she, so don’t EVEN try to go there.

Updated update! ZOMG—I knew Sweet Sydney dug restoring and wrenching on classic cars, but after learning this…well, that’s it, I’m all in with this babe-a-licious doll.

In order to set Ford’s business up for long-term success, we set our sights on improving brand perceptions by women.

To de-stereotype Ford in the eyes of many, we needed to go beyond advertising. To do this, we partnered with a surprising Ford driver and mechanic, Sydney Sweeney. Together, we created an Auto 101 series to help people feel more confident doing auto basics on their cars, created an inclusive workwear line, and got people the world talking about women in auto.

Every asset that was made, was made to show a new side of Ford.

We tapped into Sydney’s knowledge and passionate fan base with an Auto 101 series where Sydney taught auto maintenance basics like how to check your oil and more.

To take Sydney’s love for cars even further, she helped us design a custom baby blue 2024 Mustang GT to give away to fans.

In addition to all her other fine qualities, she’s a fellow Ford fanatic as well? Okay, that’s it for me, I am now hopelessly smitten over here.

Great American Stories Vol 1

Been thinking lately of starting up a series spotlighting tales of legendary Americans from all and every era, and decided the first installment could only be about a YUGE favorite of mine back when I was but a young sprat: the amazing Robert Craig “Evel” Knievel.

Knievel started his career as a professional rider a bit late in life when he was 27 years old. He was the first daredevil biker to transform his stunts into a lucrative business and became a worldwide sensation in the 1960s/70s.

Robert Craig Knievel was born in the copper-mining town of Butte, Montana, on October 17, 1938. His parents broke up not long after he was born and the kid was raised by his grandparents. Knievel was a very energetic teenager, a standout athlete in track and field, sky-jumping, and ice hockey. Unfortunately, he used part of this energy to become a petty criminal.

His very first bike was a Harley-Davidson he stole when he was 13 years old. Three years later his grandmother bought him a Triumph.

One night Robert was caught by the cops for riding his bike recklessly (no shi…!) and was taken to the local precinct. There, the police were holding a guy named Knofel, whom they called “Awful Knofel“. To call Robert “Evil Knievel” was a no-brainer. The name stuck, and some years later, Mr. Knievel legally took the name Evel, changing the “i” to “e” because, he said, he thought it looked better.

His career as a petty criminal continued, He was once again caught by the police, at this time, stealing hubcaps. Hoping the military life could straighten him up, the judge decided to give Evel a chance, it would either be going to jail or joining the army. Knievel jumped into the green uniform in the 1950s, but a regular infantry job wouldn’t do it for him; he volunteered to be a paratrooper and performed more than 30 jumps during his tenure. Afterward, he played semiprofessional and professional hockey, for a time with the Charlotte Clippers of the Eastern Hockey League. Then he took up motorcycle racing full-time until falling and breaking bones in a race in 1962.

When he was 27, Knievel became co-owner of a motorcycle shop in Moses Lake, Wash. To attract customers, he announced he would jump his Honda 350cc, 40 feet over parked cars and a box of rattlesnakes, and continue past a mountain lion tethered at the other end. More than 1,000 people came to see him, His jump was almost perfect, but he failed to fly far enough; his bike came down on the rattlesnakes. The audience was in awe.

“Right then,” he said, “I knew I could draw a big crowd by jumping over weird stuff.”

Some guys in history were born to become legends and that might be the case with Evel Knievel, even if he turned out to be a controversial one. Some stories about his personal life are as extreme as his stunts. He said he had twice kidnapped his hometown sweetheart, Linda Bork, and married her after the second time. He said he had robbed a service station of $900 when the owner failed to pay off a $25 bet. He said he had worked as a card shark, a swindler, and a safecracker. How much of it is true or not remained unclear.

Evel started his career riding Honda, Norton, and Triumph but his favorite bike was Harley-Davidson. For an American hero through and through, there was no other brand that could fit the bill.

He chose the XR 750, a bike designed primarily for dirt track competition, but it could also perform well on paved tracks.

And the tale continues on from there, featuring some really great, seldom-seen photos of the legendary daredevil in action. The famous Caesars Palace smash-up—”by far my worst crash,” according to the man his own self—is covered in minute detail, including the backstory of what-all went into booking the event to begin with. Fascinating stuff, believe you me; the pics alone are well worth the price of admission.

Follows, the fabled Caesars Palace misadventure—the jump that made him a superstar, but which also damned near killed the guy.

Watching the crash as a 7 year old kid horrified me, the way his body rag-dolled limply, seemingly boneless, as he went bouncing along at the bottom of the ramp. A fractured skull, pelvis, hips, and ribs; a month-long spell in a coma, effectively dead to the world. God only knows what my mom must’ve thought about the whole thing.

There have been other motorcycle stunt-riders and jumpers over the years—including Evel’s own son Robbie, who died in ’23 of pancreatic cancer—but none of them quite like the one, the only, the original Evel Knievel.

Is this real? Might it actually happen?

Not a chance. Once-Great Britain is an abject, unqualified, Mark 1-Mod 0 tyranny, and tyrannies have never been inclined to just let people go seceding like this.

Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales leaders to meet tomorrow to plan breakup of UK: Report
The leaders of Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales will meet on Monday to discuss plans for the breakup of the United Kingdom, according to The Telegraph.

First Ministers John Swinney of Scotland, Rhun ap Iowerth of Wales, and Michelle O’Neill of Northern Ireland are expected to sign a joint declaration demanding the right to hold referendums on breaking away from the UK. For the first time, the three constituent nations of the UK are held by pro-separation parties.

The Telegraph reported sources as saying that the summit’s purpose is to pile more pressure on Prime Minister Andy Burnham after he said in the parliament on Wednesday that he would back another Scottish independence referendum if public opinion backed one.

A source close to Swinney told the newspaper that Burnham “fucked up” by making the comment and unionists should be very worried.

In the UK, unionists are those who support the union of Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales with England in UK, whereas parties like Sinn Féin (Northern Ireland), Scottish National Party (SNP), and Plaid Cymru (Wales) support the breakup of the UK.

The source further said: “Burnham has not read his brief and doesn’t seem to know the basics of the UK Government’s position on the Union. If I was a Unionist, I would be very worried.”

Actually, they aren’t, and there’s no real reason they should be. Vote all you like, whichever way you like; we already know too well how useful voting is as any kind of change agent all on its own, most especially in the UK—you can make a statement via voting, and that’s about it. Even in more or less honest “elections,” voting is merely a gesture, and that’s pretty much all it is.

If/when King Charles tells his restive subjects “not just no, but HELL no!” in response, then calls out whatever troops he has left to back him up, the “breakaway nations” will fold like a cheap accordion, and all the big talk about separating legally and politically from the UK will tiptoe quietly away, on little cat feet (as Sandberg said of the fog). Y’know, just like Brexit did.

Final nail for the F35 Turducken?

Who knows, why the hell not. In my estimation, given what I know of the history of such things: it’s more likely than not. The fact that somebody is already talking to the Enemedia about it is a tell.

Lockheed hopes to sell a new F-16 to U.S. Air Force
Lockheed Martin is pitching the U.S. Air Force on a new version of the F-16 fighter, designated the F-16G, as a way to replace aging Fighting Falcons faster than the F-35 production line can keep up.

Multiple people familiar with the aircraft told Aviation Week that the F-16G builds on the current Block 70 F-16, Lockheed’s newest production version, and would add conformal fuel tanks, 600-gallon wing tanks, an infrared search and track pod, a Sniper targeting pod and a drag chute. Those additions would extend the jet’s range and give it added sensor capability compared with earlier F-16 models still flying in Air Force squadrons.

The idea of buying new F-16s to fill out the fighter fleet is not new. Then-Air Force Assistant Secretary for Acquisition Will Roper raised the option back in 2021, pointing to the active F-16 production line in Greenville, South Carolina, as a way to add capacity while the F-35 program worked through its own delivery pace. Lockheed builds F-16s and F-35s at separate facilities, but the F-35’s more complex production process has left the Air Force short of new airframes to replace F-16s reaching the end of their service lives.

As I’ve been saying for many years, we shoulda built more of the F22 Raptor rather than shitcanning it prematurely for the Turducken boondoggle. And no, I’m NOT just saying that because a good old blog-bud of mine, the redoubtable Paul a/k/a Capitalist Lion, worked on the F22 project for a good few years.

Also in my estimation, so take that for whatever it may be worth, the ’16 is just about the prettiest friggin jet fighter ever built, by anybody. Certainly, the Fighting Falcon has always been one of the most capable, eminently qualified to hold its head up proudly in the company of such legendary icons of US military aviation as the venerable Grumman Tomcat, the Strike Eagle, and the Super Hornet, really. Here’s a pretty typical pic of one of those beautiful, beautiful Fighting Falcons all dirtied up for landing.

*Le sigh*  What an airplane, no? With that big ol’ air scoop under the fuselage and the bubble canopy, I can’t help but be reminded a little bit of my all-time favorite: the likewise gorgeous, likewise eminently capable, likewise lethal P51D Mustang. Hey, don’t hate me ‘cause I’m beautiful, aiight?

Western delusion

The New Religious War, same as the Old Religious War. Except that this time, we’ve lost.

Today, it’s easy to see just how naive and shallow Ambrose’s analysis was. The idea that there would be no more major ideological conflicts, or that Western civilization had nothing to fear from competing cultures and peoples, was positively delusional.

But it was a delusion enabled and strengthened by a fundamentally secular worldview that refused to take the claims of religion seriously — claims that precede and give coherence to political claims and ideologies. It was a delusion, in other words, enabled by an Enlightenment philosophy that looked on religion as a quaint relic of a bygone era. The religious conflicts of earlier epochs had naturally given way to the ideological contests of the 20th century, and now those contests were settled. At the dawn of the 21st century, no one could possibly take religion seriously, or think that medieval religious disputes had any relevance in the post-Cold War world that was taking shape.

Then 9/11 happened. But instead of shattering this delusion, great efforts were made to shore it up. This proved difficult (but not impossible) because the leaders of al-Qaida were obviously motivated by religious beliefs, and said so repeatedly. In his November 2002 Letter to America, Osama bin Laden explained his motivations and aims in great detail. Organized as a series of questions and answers, the letter laid out al-Qaida’s reasons for attacking on 9/11 and also stated what al-Qaida wanted from us.

“The first thing that we are calling you to is Islam,” bin Laden wrote. It’s a striking admission. The terrorists’ first priority was not for the U.S. to leave Muslim lands, or halt support for Israel, or stop propping up authoritarian regimes in the Middle East. All of those demands come after what bin Laden says is the first thing he wants for America, which is conversion to Islam: “The religion of the Unification of God … of complete submission to His Laws; and of the discarding of all the opinions, orders, theories and religions which contradict with the religion He sent down to His Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).”

Despite such an explicit statement from bin Laden, and others like it from jihadist Muslims around the world, almost no one in the West wanted to acknowledge this reality and its implications, because doing so would undermine the animating idea of the post-Cold War project. If sincere religious convictions could inspire Muslims in the 21st century to carry out attacks like 9/11, then it wasn’t really true that all religions are the same. And if that’s the case, then all peoples and cultures are also not the same, and neither is all labor, and suddenly the entire agenda of creating a borderless world of global free markets is called into question.

So almost immediately after 9/11 our political leaders and most major media outlets scrambled to declare that Islam had nothing to do with the attacks, that there was nothing to fear from Muslims, and that anyone who suggested otherwise was a bad American.

Less than a week after 9/11, as the rubble of the Twin Towers was still smoldering, President George W. Bush gave his now infamous “Islam is peace” speech after meeting with Muslim leaders at the Islamic Center of Washington. “The face of terror is not the true faith of Islam,” he said. “That’s not what Islam is all about. Islam is peace. These terrorists don’t represent peace. They represent evil and war.” The terrorist attacks, he said, “violate the fundamental tenets of the Islamic faith. And it’s important for my fellow Americans to understand that.”

It was an absurd thing for an American president to say (as if Bush knew the first thing about the fundamental tenets of Islam), but it was especially absurd, and indeed offensive, as a response to terrorist attacks that had just killed thousands of Americans. Adding to the insult and absurdity was the fact that Bush was surrounded by Muslim leaders who condemned the attacks on narrow grounds but shared the overall religious worldview of the hijackers and their al-Qaida handlers. But in Bush’s version of the world, those people were no different than any other Americans, and in fact “love America just as much as I do.”

In saying these things, the president was simply expressing the mainstream liberal view, shared by almost all our political and media elite, who were unable to recognize the religious and civilizational nature of the conflict that had erupted. It was inconceivable to them that authentic religious beliefs could ever motivate anyone to commit an act of mass violence like 9/11. After all, religions were all supposed to be fundamentally the same. They all teach the same things, more or less, and they all lead to peace. Evil and cynical people might try to twist religion and use it to justify their crimes or a political agenda, but such people are not — and cannot be — true representatives of religion.

We heard versions of this over and over again in the years after 9/11 — and especially in the lead-up to the Iraq War. All people, we were told, yearn for liberty, hence we would be greeted as liberators in Iraq. All nations should be organized along the lines of liberal democracy, hence we should ensure that Afghan women are able to get degrees in women’s studies and Afghan girls are able to attend school. What’s more, we could import democracy to these places, and it would work because freedom and democracy are what everyone, everywhere, really wants. In his second inaugural address, President Bush stated explicitly that “it is the policy of the United States to seek and support the growth of democratic movements and institutions in every nation and culture, with the ultimate goal of ending tyranny in our world.”

Ending tyranny in the world might sound like a ridiculous thing for a White House administration to tackle, but they were serious about it. I remember a political science professor of mine from Hillsdale being dispatched to Iraq by the State Department in 2004, after we had toppled Saddam Hussein. He was part of a group of scholars the government had tasked with establishing a basis for Western-style rule of law and constitutionalism in the Koran and in Islamic tradition. That such a basis had not yet been established or discovered in the previous 1,400 years of Islam did not dissuade them. They really thought it was possible, and went to great lengths in the attempt, which of course failed.

It never occurred to them that not all religions and cultures are actually the same, and do not produce the same things. It never occurred to them that Christianity, not the act of voting, is why representative democracy created peace and stability in the West. Or that it might not be possible to establish a basis for constitutional democracy in a Muslim nation because of the nature of Islam. Or that not everyone, in fact, yearns for liberty. Some people yearn instead for justice. Some people would rather have vengeance than freedom and prosperity. If you introduce democracy to a place like Iraq, or Syria, or Gaza, the people might not vote for Western liberalism. They might vote for Hamas.

Even if these things did occur to our leadership class, as they might well have, it would have been unwelcome to bring them up at the time. And in fact almost no one said anything along these lines.

Instead, our leaders doubled down on Stephen Ambrose’s version of the world. The cultural mood of the West in the decade before 9/11 was one of breezy optimism and post-Cold War insouciance. After 9/11 this mood transformed into official policy. Not only did we think we could bring Western-style democracy to tribal Muslim peoples, we thought we could bring those peoples here and integrate them into American life.

The multicultural propaganda that had been fed to us in school throughout the 1990s took shape after 9/11, and we began importing Muslims from far-flung countries in record numbers — people from the same countries that had celebrated and danced in the streets when the towers fell. Pew Research estimates the number of Muslims in the U.S. grew from 2.4 million in 2007, the first time it performed such a tabulation, to 5.5 million today (likely a low estimate). The number of mosques has likewise increased during those years, from an estimated 1,200 to 2,800.

For the left, this was only fair. A legacy of colonialism and American meddling in the Middle East was after all to blame for the backwardness and economic depression of the Muslim world, they argued. We owed it to those countries to allow mass immigration to the West, and if Muslims in the Third World harbored resentment against America, they had good reason for it. This is now mainstream thinking among Democrats. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has repeatedly defended calls to “globalize the intifada,” for example, and has campaigned with the likes of Hasan Piker, who said that the United States “deserved 9/11.”

For the right, it took the arrival of Donald Trump even to be able to talk about these things. And even now, if you have the temerity to notice that Muslims in America fail to assimilate because they have no interest in assimilating, or that they recreate versions of their home countries and cultures here in America, or that Islam is clearly incompatible with American society, half the country will call you a racist.

That is the real legacy of 9/11. It was the beginning of a religious war that we lost because we refused to recognize the religious nature of it. We were committed instead to a secular account of the world in which religion makes no real claims on its adherents and imposes no real costs on unbelievers.

What we owe the victims of 9/11, all these years later, is to be done with all that nonsense, and to see the world, finally, as it really is.

Yeah, like THAT’S ever gonna happen. Sorry, but I’m afraid we Men of the West just don’t have it in us anymore to look the harsher realities straight in the face without flinching and/or dissembling, same as we can no longer call things by their right names. Our Lords and Masters simply don’t allow that, and we’re Americans: we do as we’re told.

Hey, remember when shitlibs couldn’t possibly poke enough fun at Ronnie “Raygun” and his preposterous, unworkable, never-happen-in-a-million-years SDI boondoggle?

Nah, me neither.

U.S. Admits It Has Weapons In Orbit
Secretary of the Air Force Troy Meink made a bombshell admission this morning, disclosing that there are on-orbit weapons deployed right now to protect America’s interests in space. Those weapons support a Space Control mission set, and the U.S. Space Force has now also shared additional details about that directly with TWZ.

Meink first made mention of what he described as “on-orbit space control weapons” during his keynote speech earlier today at the Air & Space Forces Association’s (AFA) 2026 Air, Space & Cyber Conference, at which TWZ is in attendance. As head of the Department of the Air Force, Meink serves as the top civilian overseeing both the Air Force and the Space Force. Space-based weapons have historically been a very sensitive topic for the U.S. military, with much discussion over the decades about whether such capabilities could already exist to varying degrees in the American arsenal. There has already been a dramatic shift in this regard in recent years, with the head of U.S. Space Command (SPACECOM) openly declaring the acquisition of new anti-satellite weapons to be a top priority just last month.

“Today, we continue to ensure we remain ready to meet the challenges of evolving threats, wherever they exist,” Meink said during his keynote address. “This is why the United States now has on-orbit space control weapons capable of defending the joint force against hostile adversary action.”

“That phrase was very well thought out. So whatever I said before is what I say again,” he said when asked if he could elaborate in any way on those capabilities at a question-and-answer session immediately following his speech. “It is critically important that we maintain our dominance not only in the air, but in space, and so we’ve had to take steps to make sure that when we’re threatened, we can take care of that.”

Oooooops. Sorry, shitlibs.
