Eyrie up!

Unfortunately tonight’s edition, which I finished writing early yesterday, has since been overtaken by events, specifically Netanyahu’s disastrous decision to yield to pressure from the Biden junta and other Western Jew-haters and back down from removing Hamas and its cowardly, subhuman murderers from this Earthly plane of existence. Nonetheless, I made some points therein which do hold up, and that I think are worth making, among them this:

Contrary to the shitlib catechism, there in fact ARE White Hats and Black Hats in this poor world. Not all things are shaded in the drab grey they prefer; comfortable and reassuring as they may find it in theoretical terms, uncertainty, endless self-recrimination, and arrière-pensée are extremely dangerous in practical terms as a response to acts of bloody-minded horror and cruelty. Good and evil DO exist, and sometimes decent people must call upon their native good judgement, rectitude, and strength of will so as to distinguish one from the other, then to conduct themselves appropriately in support of the Good.

Pedantic demands from self-styled White Nationalists for hard proof that a specific atrocity has been committed by a certain cohort renowned as serial perpetrators of atrocity ever since their chosen creed first came into existence—OR ELSE IT DIDN’T HAPPEN!is beyond foolish. Such blinkered defiance of Occam’s Razor, such bland denial of the historical record, redounds to the everlasting disgrace and self-beclownment of otherwise thoughtful, reasonable people.

“If I don’t see pictures IMMEDIATELY of the forty (40) children they said were beheaded (PRO TIP: nobody actually said that, except maybe a handful of lazy, melodramatic, and/or just plain sloppy-ass pundits), then it’s all a lie!!” As if the savagery already readily accessible for viewing on video was insufficient evidence. As if shooting, stabbing, bludgeoning, or burning children to death wasn’t somehow bad enough. As if, after fifteen hundred fucking years of such savagery, a reasonable person would conclude that they wouldn’t be inclined to commit such savagery again. Beyond foolish? It’s downright childish.

Because of the pressure from sophomoric Western idiots for Israel to “Stop the killing!”, a de facto stay of execution has been granted to implacable murderers who will NEVER stop until they are all dead. This has put a target on the back of every “infidel” in the non-Mooselimb world. It’s yet another bad, bad mistake which is going to get a lot of people killed.

“The call is coming from inside the house!”

Ace muses at length on a profoundly disturbing development.

The US Government Hired a Pro-Hamas-Terrorism Ideologue to…”Vet” Arab Refugees for Terrorist Sympathies

Appalling? Absolutely. Infuriating? Indubitably. Surprising, unexpected? Sadly, no.

I’ve mentioned before but there’s a line from Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy I always think of when I read stories like these.

The old head of British intelligence realizes that the Soviets have perverted British intelligence so that it is now collecting intelligence about America, for the Soviet Union. British intelligence has been turned into a division of the KGB.

“They’ve turned us inside-out,” the old head of British intelligence says.

Look at every single institution in America — they’ve turned them all inside-out. Schools are not about educating children, but comforting teachers. The NIH is not about the health of the citizens, but the health of Pfizer’s stock price.

The State Department is working directly for and under Iran.

A bureaucrat supposedly vetting Arab asylum-seekers for terrorist leanings herself has terrorist leanings — and I’ll bet you any amount of money she was put into that position precisely because she has terrorist leanings.

She was appointed to make sure “the right people get in.”

The entire country’s been turned inside-out.

From there we move on to an examination of former PLO spokescreature Nejwa Ali, who next subverted the US as a DHS “Asylum Officer,” currently an Adjudication Officer with the U.S. Customs and Immigration Service (CIS). Follows, a look in on two other radical Muslim supremacists who have infiltrated sundry federal agencies—up to and including the Pentagon (!): Ariane Tabatabai and Yousra Fazili, by name. The most disturbing part of all comes in at the end:

The late, great Rich Higgins had been an EOD specialist in the Army before becoming a Pentagon intelligence officer — unfortunately, during the Obama years.

He used to rant that in every single briefing he’d give about the threat posed by Islamic terrorists, there would be literal Islamic terrorists in the room, taking notes, vetoing proposals.

Like, if Rich pointed out that terrorists were fond of, I don’t know, quoting a specific Sura of the Koran, so that’s something to look out for, the terrorists would say, “No, you cannot make that part of the information package for intelligence officers, that’s Islamophobic and haram.”

Our terrorist-identification protocols were being vetted and edited by terrorists.

And when I say they were terrorists, I don’t mean they were spies in disguise. I mean, under Obama, agents of the Muslim Brotherhood — known agents, open agents — were part of every security briefing to make sure Allah wasn’t being disrespected by the infidel.

They did not sneak their way into the briefing. Obama specifically sought out Muslim Brotherhood agents as special advisors on the United States policies in fighting…well, the Muslim Brotherhood, among others.

He would tell me funny stories like someone in the briefing saying “This next part is top secret classified, so do not discuss this with anyone outside this room,” and he’d say, “The Muslim Brotherhood is literally in the room right now. There are four of them in the second row. Who the fuck do you think you’re keeping this secret from?”

So that was Obama. And now that’s Biden.

Oh, and that’s why the FBI spends all of its time surveilling Christians and conservatives now — Obama and the Muslim Brotherhood wanted to turn the agency’s attention to focus on “the Real Terrorists.”

And so they did. And continue doing.

They turned us inside-out.

Yay America though, right?

The old America, the REAL America, sure. This new, hollowed-out, zombified, undead cadaver known around these parts as Amerika v2.0, though? Oh, HELL no.

Ace’s adaptation of the George Smiley quote, bleakly acknowledging the Circus (MI6’s longtime pet nickname for itself) had been “turned inside out” by legendary Brit intelligence officer-turned-Soviet mole Bill Haydon, is piercingly applicable to the shitshow that is Amerika v2.0, and unfortunately, timeless in its ongoing relevance. As Soviet spymasters and British internal traitors did to Smiley’s Circus, so has the latter-day plague of anti-American Leftists—Soviet dupes just as surely as was Bill Haydon in le Carré’s gripping novel—done to America That Was.

Oh, and anybody who didn’t note well the prominent role played by gifted thespian Bathhouse Barry Oboomboom, both on-camera and behind the scenes, in this sordid story is a blind-ass fool.

Netanyahu heeds the advice of Jew-hating Obama stay-behind agents

In a shockingly UNEXPECTED!™ development, Israel throws another combatus-interruptus “war.”

Is Israel’s biggest danger from the Biden White House?

Not the biggest, no. A serious threat and a deadly enemy, of course, but not quite the biggest of ‘em.

Renowned journalist and Middle East expert Caroline Glick says Israel is now facing dangers from a quarter no one anticipated: the Biden administration.

During yesterday’s broadcast of “The Caroline Glick Show“ on JNS TV, Glick outlined how her own sources described what’s been happening behind the scenes.

Speaking from her home in Israel, Glick said, “We are in danger of losing…sovereign control over our military.”

She then presented what sources told her really happened when secretary of state Tony Blinken met with Israel’s war cabinet on Monday.

“From what came out of the meeting, Tony Blinken wasn’t trying to help Israel at all. What he was doing was demanding that Israel enable resupply to Gaza, the euphemism of which is ‘humanitarian aid.’” She continued to say that Blinken threatened to withhold American war materiel from Israel, such as bunker buster bombs and regular ordinance.

And Israel didn’t just decide to invite Biden. His administration demanded that Israel invite him, she said, adding, “I don’t know; ask his presidential campaign.”

What Glick described about Blinken’s demands amounted to extortion: if Israel didn’t open up a humanitarian corridor — i.e., allow Hamas to be resupplied — the U.S. wouldn’t provide the bunker buster bombs and the ordinance for Israel’s fighter jets. Without those things, IDF ground forces would likely be slaughtered like the victims of October 7.

Adding insult to injury, Glick’s sources said the U.S. told Israel they weren’t allowed to “open up a war” with Lebanon despite being bombed from Hezb’allah in the north.

In a rare emotional monologue, she pointed out what we’ve known all along: the United States has been arming and funding the enemies of Israel. (Glick doesn’t gloss over Obama’s contribution to this mess, either.)

Nor should she, nor should anybody else, since Bathhouse Barry is almost certainly the puppetmaster pulling the “Biden” marionette’s strings and making him dance.

In tomorrow’s Eyrie post, which I worked on yesterday but haven’t quite finished with yet, I put it this way:

No, Gaza is not our fight, I get that. Most Americans are fed up with Forever Wars launched solely for the enrichment of ProPols and their military-industrial-complex partners in crime, thus understandably have no taste for getting ensnared in yet another one of those tar-baby traps. It’s up to Israel to deal with this, which they’re eminently capable of doing so long as they’re fully and firmly aware that they must—that this time, their genocidal foes have left them with no other option—and if they’re allowed to do so unburdened by interference and armchair-quarterbacking from dissembling, vacuous Western political entities and personages who loathe them. So stipulated.

Looks like poor old Charlie Brown has been fooled into another try at kicking that damned football yet again, with the predictable result. The subhuman cutthroats of Hamas, flush with this latest victory, will survive to carry on with their campaign of genocidal murder, shielded by their semi-secret allies in the ruling US junta. What a hideous, unfunny joke it all is.

Is it elder abuse yet?

Yes. Yes, it surely is.

If he hadn’t been such a greedy, grabby, crooked, self-serving reprobate his entire life, you’d have to feel sorry for the old fool. Things being what they are, though…well, I mean, y’know. James Woods just comes right out and says it:

The link is to a vid with mo’ bettah incoherent mumbling, obvious befuddlement, and total unfitness for the high office which was usurped for him. Pity Pedo Peter? Not on your life. He deserves far, far worse than he’ll ever get, so if every minute of every day as figurehead “pResident” is a torment and a misery for him, that’s jakesy-jooksey with me.

My heart, it breaks for them

Awwww, the poor widdle dear.

NYU Law Students Say Classmate Losing Job Offer Over Pro-Hamas Statement Is ‘Violence’
Ryna Workman said ‘Israel bears full responsibility’ for Hamas attacks that have killed thousands

Wails the oppressed, put-upon snowflake upon receiving her first lesson in what the word “responsibility” means.

New York University law students are rallying behind a student who lost a spot at a white-shoe law firm for defending Hamas, saying the firm’s decision to rescind their offer constitutes “violence.”

The Chicago-based Winston & Strawn withdrew its offer of employment to Ryna Workman after the nonbinary NYU student issued a statement claiming “Israel bears full responsibility” for the terrorist attacks that have left more than 1,300 dead, including at least 30 Americans. The firm’s decision is just one instance of “systemic, concentrated violence” Workman has experienced since issuing her anti-Israel pronouncement, according to a letter of support obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

You keep using that word, “violence.” I do not think it means what you think it means. Here’s hoping you find out real soon.

There’s a pic at the link; the fat, melanin-enriched shitwit looks about like you’d expect she would, although she probably considers herself victimized yet again when the article dropped the apostrophe from “R’yna.” Via Ace, who also includes a truly jaw-slackening slice of moronicity from loathsome flatus Bill Kristol.

Bill Kristol @BillKristol

I came to D.C. to work in the Reagan Administration because (to oversimplify) it was pro-Constitution, pro-U.S. global leadership, pro-military, pro-Israel, pro-democratic capitalism, and pro-American dream. And that’s why I now support the Biden Administration and Democrats.

Great Scott, he seems to be serious! With Kristol, it can be hard to know for sure. It’s mortifying to think how many times I approvingly quoted, excerpted, and linked this sleazy, slithery reptile’s Weekly Standard pieces right here at Ye Olde Colde Furye Blogge in the aftermath of 9/11. Ace follows up with an inside story.

Bill Kristol called Claremont writer and former Trump NSA spokesman Michael Anton a Nazi in print. A source who was present in the room for the incident tells me that both were guests at a dinner party, and Bill Kristol came up to Anton with a smile and with his hand extended for a shake. As if they were Best Budz who were just having a play-fight on the internet for clicks and giggles.

Anton refused to shake his hand, and told him why.

So, per my source, Bill Kristol is the kind of man who either 1, slurs people as Nazis even though he knows for a fact they are not Nazis, just to get some more donations from the AWFL Wine O’Clock Wendys who make up his Democrat donor base, or 2, is perfectly willing to shake the hand of a man he actually believes is a Nazi so as not to bring down the vibes of the swank DC insider dinner party he’s intending.

You choose! I’m not here to bias you towards either conclusion. Personally I favor un-offered choice 3, that Bill Kristol is a very fat, small, cowardly weakling and sexually-ambiguous Gollum whose testosterone levels would allow him to enter “women’s” sports, and then come in last place, because seriously, this is one short obese red-faced pudge of a “man.”

Option Three has my vote too. Although upon reflection, ain’t no reason it can’t be all three of ‘em. None of them says anything at all good about Kristol, which at this point can’t come as any big surprise.

Handing a Leftwit “journalist” his head

I wish he’d head South and run for President. Yes, I know, I know, he wasn’t born in the US and is thus Constitutionally ineligible. On the other hand, that sure didn’t stop Kenya-born Bathhouse Barry, now did it?

Calm, unflappable, laconically munching an apple while he takes this Mark-1 Mod-0 shitlib apart on camera—it’s entirely possible M Poilievre is actually Superman. As the esteemed Andrea Widberg says:

I’m one of those people who hates watching embarrassing things on TV or in movies. If I know the scene will be embarrassing, I take off my glasses and plug my ears. I almost had that urge to do both when watching Poilievre destroy the reporter. What Poilievre did to him was that brutal. Then I thought, “No, this reporter is a leftist hack. I’m not watching something painfully embarrassing. I’m watching something absolutely beautiful.”

Amen to that. Personally, I’d be every bit as happy if he’d just hurled his apple at the “journalist”’s nose à la Sam Gamgee (“waste of a good apple,” quoth Samwise afterwards), picked up a stout tree branch, and beat the dirtbag half to death with it upon said dirtbag’s first insufferably smarmy, smug insinuation disguised as a “question,” but that’s probably just me.

Memezapoppin’!

Welcome to this week’s installment of our Wednesday meme feature, folks. Links to the “found via” sources will be attached to the specific MiQ’s (Memes in Question) whenever I can remember them, which likely won’t be very often. Only the first two memes will appear above the fold to save on bandwidth usage, since I assume not everybody who shows up at this here websty will want to see all of them. This intro will appear at the top of each week’s Memezapoppin’! post. Enjoy, funny pitcher-lovers.

NOTE: Most of this week’s selection gleaned from that meme-motherlode I mentioned in Monday’s Eyrie post. Watch yourself if you decide to pay a visit over there; it’s definitely one of those deep, deep internet holes that, once you’ve dived in, it’s almost impossible to climb back out of.

Invade the world, invite the world

Yeah, let’s don’t and say we did.

For three years now, America’s sovereignty and safety have already been vaporized enough by Biden.

But the leftists, predictably, want even more. Now, they pine for a mass importation of Palestinian refugees into America. Fire alarm-pulling Congressman Jamaal Bowman of New York declared that “the United States New York should be prepared to welcome refugees from Palestine.”

Fixed it for ya, Jamaal. Of course, it would be asking too much of the sub-moron Bowman to suggest he learn to distinguish between a fire alarm and a door-handle before he goes making any wet-brained policy recommendations to non-Retard Americans.

Following the horrific terror attacks upon Israel from Hamas and the resulting swift Israeli Defense Forces response, American globalists ascertain yet another opportunity to import a wave of unvetted migrants likely to bring violence and social discord to our already frayed republic.

It’s actually yet another opportunity to start killing Leftists in job lots, IMHO.

In response, we patriotic populists should channel Michael Corleone responding to Senator Geary’s bribe demands in “The Godfather II.” Our answer on new Mideast refugees is this: nothing. Zero. Not one Palestinian refugee belongs here in America.

Annnnd DINGDINGDINGDING we have ourselves a WINNAH, folks! Hope DeSantis and Abbott have plenty of buses on standby to make sure these “refugees” end up where they truly belong. Read all of it; the recounting of specifics on the Afghan-refugee crimewave thus far is as infuriating as it was predictable.

Demography is destiny

An oldie-but-goodie Steyn rerun which, once again, is every bit as relevant today as it was when it first ran in 2009. Probably more so, in fact.

“Israel is unfashionable,” a Continental foreign minister said to me a decade back. “But maybe Israel will change, and then fashions will change.” Fashions do change. But however Israel changes, this fashion won’t. The shift of most (non-American) Western opinion against the Jewish state that began in the 1970s was, as my Continental politician had it, simply a reflection of casting: Israel was no longer the underdog but the overdog, and why would that appeal to a post-war polytechnic Euro-Left unburdened by Holocaust guilt?

Fair enough. Fashions change. But the new Judenhass is not a fashion, simply a stark reality that will metastasize in the years ahead and leave Israel isolated in the international “community” in ways that will make the first decade of this century seem like the good old days.

A few months after the curtailed Holocaust Day tour, I found myself in that particular corner of Tower Hamlets for the first time in years. Specifically, on Cable Street—the scene of a famous battle in 1936, when Sir Oswald Mosley’s British Union of Fascists, in a crude exercise of political muscle, determined to march through the heart of Jewish East London. They were turned back by a mob of local Jews, Irish Catholic dockers, and Communist agitators, all standing under the Spanish Civil War slogan: “No Pasaran.” They shall not pass.

From “No Pasaran” to “If you go any further, you’ll die” is a story not primarily of anti-Semitism but of unprecedented demographic transformation. Beyond the fashionable “anti-Zionism” of the Euro-Left is a starker reality: The demographic energy not just in Lionel Bart’s East End but in almost every Western European country is “Asian.” Which is to say, Muslim. A recent government statistical survey reported that the United Kingdom’s Muslim population is increasing ten times faster than the general population. Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Antwerp, and many other Continental cities from Scandinavia to the Côte d’Azur will reach majority Muslim status in the next few years.

Brussels has a Socialist mayor, which isn’t that surprising, but he presides over a caucus a majority of whose members are Muslim, which might yet surprise those who think we’re dealing with some slow, gradual, way-off-in-the-future process here. But so goes Christendom at the dawn of the third millennium: the ruling party of the capital city of the European Union is mostly Muslim.

There are generally two responses to this trend: The first is that it’s like a cast change in Cats or, perhaps more precisely, David Merrick’s all-black production of Hello, Dolly! Carol Channing and her pasty prancing waiters are replaced by Pearl Bailey and her ebony chorus, but otherwise the show is unchanged. Same set, same words, same arrangements: France will still be France, Germany Germany, Belgium Belgium.

The second response is that the Islamicization of Europe entails certain consequences, and it might be worth exploring what these might be. There are already many points of cultural friction—from British banks’ abolition of children’s “piggy banks” to the enjoining of public doughnut consumption by Brussels police during Ramadan.

And yet on one issue there is remarkable comity between the aging ethnic Europeans and their young surging Muslim populations: A famous poll a couple of years back found that 59 per cent of Europeans regard Israel as the greatest threat to world peace.

Proviong yet again that the more things change, the more they stay the same. But will the West learn the lesson at long, long last? Not bloody likely, alas.

The Muslim world has spent decades peddling the notion that the reason a vast oil-rich region stretching thousands of miles is politically deformed and mired in grim psychoses is all because of a tiny strip of turf barely wider than my New Hampshire township. It will make an ever more convenient scapegoat for the problems of a far vaster territory from the mountains of Morne to the Urals. There was a fair bit of this in the days after 9/11. As Richard Ingrams wrote on the following weekend in the London Observer: “Who will dare to damn Israel?”

Well, take a number and get in line. The dust had barely settled on the London Tube bombings before a reader named Derrick Green sent me a congratulatory e-mail: “I bet you Jewish supremacists think it is Christmas come early, don’t you? Incredibly, you are now going to get your own way even more than you did before, and the British people are going to be dragged into more wars for Israel.”

So it will go. British, European, and even American troops will withdraw from Iraq and Afghanistan, and a bomb will go off in Madrid or Hamburg or Manchester, and there will be nothing left to blame except Israeli “disproportion.” For the remnants of European Jewry, the already discernible migration of French Jews to Quebec, Florida, and elsewhere will accelerate. There are about 150,000 Jews in London today—it’s the thirteenth biggest Jewish city in the world. But there are approximately one million Muslims. The highest number of Jews is found in the 50-54 age group; the highest number of Muslims are found in the four-years-and-under category. By 2025, there will be Jews in Israel, and Jews in America, but not in many other places. Even as the legitimacy of a Jewish state is rejected, the Jewish diaspora—the Jewish presence in the wider world—will shrivel.

And then, to modify Richard Ingrams, who will dare not to damn Israel?

The joke about Mandatory Palestine was that it was the twice-promised land. But isn’t that Europe, too? And perhaps Russia and maybe Canada, a little ways down the line? Two cultures jostling within the same piece of real estate. Not long ago, I found myself watching the video of another “pro-Palestinian” protest in central London with the Metropolitan Police retreating up St. James’s Street to Piccadilly in the face of a mob hurling traffic cones and jeering, “Run, run, you cowards!” and “Allahu akbar!”

You would think the deluded multi-culti progressives would understand: In the end, this isn’t about Gaza, this isn’t about the Middle East; it’s about them. It may be some consolation to an ever-lonelier Israel that, in one of history’s bleaker jests, in the coming Europe the Europeans will be the new Jews.

And so it has come to pass. If you wonder where this all might be headed, you need only look to the name of London’s sitting mayor for a clue.

So obvious only a “liberal” could fail to understand it

Just another typically brilliant Daniel Greenfield essay.

As highly civilized people, we’ve lost touch with some basic concepts. Like war.

We complain that we never win wars anymore, but that’s because we don’t fight them. Instead, we have limited interventions against insurgents. We try to stabilize failed states. Sometimes we go in, take out a few terrorists, and then go back home. Veterans, whose wounds are very real, sit around wondering what it was all for. So do the families of the men who died fighting in a war that was never a war.

To win a war, you have to fight one.

If your enemy is fighting a war and you’re fighting something less than a war, the enemy will win.

A few rules of thumb, from people who knew a little something about it.

We fight things that are not wars to ‘stabilize’ regions. Wars are not fought for stability, but destruction. To win a war, destroy the enemy. That’s what the United States and its allies did in WWII, raining mass death and destruction on Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan in ways that still make modern liberals cringe.

“The Nazis entered this war under the rather childish delusion that they were going to bomb everyone else, and nobody was going to bomb them,” said Arthur Harris, the Royal Air Force chief of Bomber Command, in 1940.

“The harder we push, the more Germans we kill. The more Germans we kill, the fewer of our men will be killed. Pushing harder means fewer casualties. I want you all to remember that,” General Geroge Patton told the Third Army.

Franklin D. Roosevelt’s obsession with taking the war to Japan led to the Doolittle Raid. One of the bombs from that raid hit a school. “It is quite impossible to bomb a military objective that has civilian residences near it without danger of harming the civilian residences as well. That is a hazard of war,” Doolittle had warned.

That is what war is. It’s why wars should not be fought lightly. But when you fight them, fight to win.

Indeed so. Or, as the rockabilly folks always like to say: Get hot or go home.

Do not go gently

Into that no-good prison.

President Donald Trump has declared that he’s “willing to go jail” as he vowed to break a federal judge’s gag order against him.

During a rally in Iowa, Trump told hundreds of supporters in suburban Des Moines that he will never be silenced.

Trump held the rally just 91 days before Iowa Republicans are due to hold the first-in-the-nation 2024 presidential caucuses.

Earlier on Monday, Obama-appointed federal District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan slapped a gag order on Trump.

The order bars the 45th president from attacking or criticizing witnesses, prosecutors, and court staff involved in his Washington, D.C. criminal case.

Wrong answer, Mr President, sir.

I mean, on the one hand it’s a good thing he’s “willing to go to jail,” I suppose, since that’s exactly where he’s headed in any event. But speaking strictly for myself and no one else, I’d like to see a bit more of the “hell no, I won’t go” spirit of outraged defiance from him, a little more “come and get me if you think you can, motherfuckers.” Submissive resignation—a shrug of the shoulders and a “well, whatchagonnado” as if equality under the law still meant a goddamned thing in Amerika v2.0—just ain’t gonna cut the mustard anymore.

Sorry for the downtime today, folks, but thanks to the good folks at Hosting Matters we’re straightened out again. In the interim, I announced a new thang for the Eyrie:

Having struck a rich vein of solid-gold Thomas Sowell memes over the weekend, it occurred to me that it might be cool to dedicate the occasional Monday Eyrie post to running them here. So consider this the first installment of what will henceforth be an ongoing feature here: Thomas Sowell Mondays!

You’re gonna love it, trust me.

Some societies could USE reshaping

Sensing on where it all might wind up.

War and the reshaping of societies
Let me emphasize at the outset that my assessment of the looming Israeli invasion of Gaza is intended to be descriptive, not prescriptive. I am not proposing what Israel should do, but what it may do as the coming days and weeks unfold, even if Israel does not actually intend it now.

Having formed a “unity government” for the war, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has stated clearly that the permanent end of Hamas as the principal war aim. That this objective requires a land invasion of Gaza is also clear. But what can it take to destroy Hamas? Netanyahu has said that killing its terrorists fighters is a specific goal, but Hamas is not merely an organization. It is also an ideology. How does Israel end with not only the present Hamas organization destroyed, but also the ideology?

America’s Civil War and World War 2 may provide a clue.

But first, what is Hamas’ ideology?

It is very simple: Kill Jews, kill Jews, kill more Jews. Specifically, Hamas (and Lebanon’s Hezbollah) has said publicly and often that it has at least the following goals:

1. The elimination of the state of Israel and establishment of a Muslim nation “from the Jordan river to the Mediterranean Sea.” Jews must vacate this land entirely or they will be killed.

2. In the meantime, and as a tactic to attain that goal, Hamas has said before and again very recently that Jews must be killed. Last Saturday, Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif announced, “Operation Al-Aqsa Deluge.” Al-Aqsa is the name of the mosque atop the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Deif said that the mass killings of Israelis were a mere “first strike,” with much more yet to come.

Donald goes on to discuss the CW1 parallels as reflected in the total-war philosophy of Sherman, then hits lightly on Eisenhower before landing squarely on Roosevelt’s somewhat-belated WW2 realization:

Hence, wrote Roosevelt in a letter to Secretary of War Henry Stimson,

It is of utmost importance that every person in Germany should realize that this time Germany is a defeated nation…The fact that they are a defeated nation, collectively and individually, must be so impressed upon them that they will hesitate to start any new war.

Precisely so—then, now, and always. As I’ve said so very many times here, about both Muslim Supremacists and the American Left, so it was with Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. As Sensing quips: “One notes that Japan and Germany have been well behaved since 1945.” One does at that. Thus do we arrive in the unlovely place we were always doomed to:

The End Game
At this point, both Israel and Hamas must realize that, as Gen. Douglas MacArthur said, “In war there is no substitute for victory.” Victory for Hamas can be defined very simply: it survives as an ongoing, at least minimally effective, violent anti-Israel entity as before. Hamas’ leaders know that to abandon murderous violence to establish a purely Palestinian state by political measures, rather than violence, means two things: (a) Hamas would not even be Hamas any more, so what is the point, and (b) mere politics will never accomplish that goal anyway. Hamas’ true believers would literally rather die than take that course.

As for Israel, its leadership at least knows that Hamas must be ended and no Hamas-by-another-name can be allowed. There is no answer to how long it will take to destroy Hamas or how many casualties it will cost. But neither Grant nor Sherman knew those things ahead of time, either. So Israel must proceed, though it is doing so as Otto von Bismarck reportedly said about going to war, “entering a dark room blindfolded to search for a black cat that is not even there.”

Gaza’s residents, whether they know it now or not, must decide in whose hands they literally trust their lives and the lives of their children. Hamas is quite willing to sacrifice them. But they may come to realize that while Israel will not target them, neither will Israel refrain from attacking if Hamas militarizes their refuges. An international standard called Common Article 3 governs combat between state and non-state combatants. It states that civilians’ presence at a location does not automatically make that location off limits from attack.

S’truth. In modern, post-Napoleonic warfare, “civilian” doesn’t mean quite what it once may have. In fact, during WW2’s Ruhr Valley strategic bombing campaign civilians were redefined as “military assets” themselves due to their work in Germany’s military-matériel industry—steel- and ironworks, armaments factories, synthetic-oil refining facilities, among other things—centered there.

Official handwringing over “civilian casualties” might be all fine and well during times of (relative) peace, but once the two-way firing range has gone full-on hot, all bets—and gloves—are off. In guerilla warfare (ie, asymmetrical, 4G-5G, however you prefer to conceptualize it), restraint and “proportionate” responses will ultimately serve only to get even more of your civilians killed than might otherwise have been the case.

For the moment, Israel seems firmly committed to trading the kid-gloves in for a stout set of knuckledusters: razing Gaza to the ground, making the rubble bounce, and effectively depopulating the place. So be it, then; having been forced into the position of waging total war against a clearly-implacable enemy who has repeatedly, explicitly, and openly declared its intention to kill every Jew they possibly can, the Israelis must now see this thing through to the very end. Gaza may not survive; Hamas MUST not, period fucking dot. Sic semper jihadists, sayeth I.

Admittedly, this isn’t America’s fight. In truth, I seriously doubt whether—given our current sorry state of self-enfeeblement, in ways by no means restricted to military matters alone—the US could provide a whole lot of assistance anyway, to Israel or anybody else.

Send a couple carrier groups with newfangled electromagnetic catapults that won’t catapult, conned by Manwoman helmspyrsynnz who were never taught to navigate without crashing into other ships, seawalls, docks, and/or sundry land masses, their flight decks jam-packed with squadrons of combat-ineffective F35 Turduckens that are far too expensive to chance having to replace when they fall out of the sky inexplicably, or recover when the malfunctioning EM catapult lobs them gently into the sea? With a complement of overweight, out of shape lesbian Wokester-Marines in “support”?

Sure, why the hell not? Tell me the one about Goldilocks and the Three Bears next, Daddy, that one’s my favorite.

Expect any practical effect on the situation beyond humiliating self-beclownment, though? Surely you jest.

At this point, the best course of action for us is to firmly reject all pompous FederalGovCo demands that Israel be put back on its leash before any more Mooselimb terrorists get hurt; re-establish and secure the southern border; and muster the will to cleanse our own badly-broken nation of the domestic jihadist threat. A Sisyphean task to be sure, but that’s still just for openers. Sorry to bust any bubbles here, but there’s an extremely lengthy to-do list of domestic affairs needing to be settled before we can even dream of mucking about in anybody else’s.

After two decades plus of bootless circle-jerkery under the War on (Some) Terror rubric, we ought never to have wound up in such an awful fix. And yet, somehow, here we all are anyway.

Cancel Culture Finally Comes for the Left, and I Can’t Stop Laughing
As I wrote previously, all the geopolitical arguments in the world, right or wrong, do not excuse mass murder, including the massacring of children. When Hamas crossed the border and started indiscriminately killing people and taking hostages, there was no question that the gloves would have to come off. Complaints about settlements and the Al-Aqsa mosque became academic at that point.

Still, in the immediate aftermath of the attacks, some people actually came out in open support of Hamas’ atrocities, justifying them and blaming Israel for the murder of its own people. Joint letters were put out by universities and protests were held with chants glorifying Hamas “martyrs.”

Naturally, some companies decided that was a bridge too far and rescinded job offers to those who participated, and now the crying has begun.

Wait, am I supposed to feel sorry for a person who literally cheerleaded mass murder and claimed it was simply “resistance?” Is that really what the Post is suggesting with this hand-wringing article full of defenses of people espousing nazi ideology? Last I checked, the left loves cancel culture, and no single entity of the left loves it more than the university system.

Regardless, my response to this is simple: I can’t stop laughing.

This is what the left wanted. They wanted a world where people get publicly and professionally punished for the things they say. Further, they wanted the standard to be so low that people could get fired for simply speaking basic truths, such as that men can’t become women. But now, the very same left wants to pull back that standard to include supporting terrorists who shoot up music festivals.

Yeah, no. That’s not how this works.

Nor should it be. Yet it was, for way too many years. If the Woke worm is beginning to turn at long last, then hey, laugh, laugh away, I say. Shame it took a bestial mass-slaughter to make it happen, but…well, that’s the way it usually happens, historically-speaking.

NOTE: In order to comment, you must be registered and approved as a CF user. Since so many user-registrations are attempted by spam-bots for their own nefarious purposes, YOUR REGISTRATION MAY BE ERRONEOUSLY DENIED.

If you are in fact a legit hooman bean desirous of registering yourself a CF user name so as to be able to comment only to find yourself caught up as collateral damage in one of my irregularly (un)scheduled sweeps for hinky registration attempts, please shoot me a kite at the email addy over in the right sidebar and let me know so’s I can get ya fixed up manually.

ALSO NOTE: You MUST use a valid, legit email address in order to successfully register, the new anti-spam software I installed last night requires it. My thanks to Barry for all his help sorting this mess out last night.

Comments appear entirely at the whim of the guy who pays the bills for this site and may be deleted, ridiculed, maliciously edited for purposes of mockery, or otherwise pissed over as he in his capricious fancy sees fit. The CF comments section is pretty free-form and rough and tumble; tolerance level for rowdiness and misbehavior is fairly high here, but is NOT without limit.

Management is under no obligation whatever to allow the comments section to be taken over and ruined by trolls, Leftists, and/or other oxygen thieves, and will take any measures deemed necessary to prevent such. Conduct yourself with the merest modicum of decorum, courtesy, and respect and you'll be fine. Pick pointless squabbles with other commenters, fling provocative personal insults, issue threats, or annoy the host (me) and...you won't.

Should you find yourself sanctioned after running afoul of the CF comments policy as stated and feel you have been wronged, please download and complete the Butthurt Report form below in quadruplicate; retain one copy for your personal records and send the others to the email address posted in the right sidebar.

Please refrain from whining, sniveling, and/or bursting into tears and waving your chubby fists around in frustrated rage, lest you suffer an aneurysm or stroke unnecessarily. Your completed form will be reviewed and your complaint addressed whenever management feels like getting around to it. Thank you.
