“We will see a dramatic increase in unrest during 2021, and more so in 2022”

Doesn’t seem like all that outlandish a prediction to make from where we’re all sitting today, does it?

It’s mid-April and violence is picking up in United States. As I predicted many times long back. Often I wrote these things right here on Patreon, or said during interviews. Of course I cannot tell the future, but I have spent enough time in and studying wars that my estimations are far more likely to become true than not.

Who else, anywhere, predicted far in advance that April 2021 would likely see significant change in the character of unrest? I don’t know of anyone.

It’s not about sparks. It’s about conditions. I just drove thousands of miles across America sensing conditions. Those who have followed my work in Iraq, Afghanistan, Thailand, Hong Kong, and more, know to listen.

Now is time to repeat something. I am penalized for delivering bad news. When I first wrote in 2006 that the Afghan war was going backwards, support donations fell through the floor. And notice that I actually predicted that would happen in 2006. There is a tendency to support good news and penalize bad news. I want to write that things are looking up internally for United States. But that would be a lie.

Go back and spend an hour looking what the pack was writing about Afghanistan. The pack was writing about how great the Afghan war was going. I was the Lone Ranger. But it was clear. I was there. And I know what to look for. Being there is not enough. You must know what you are feeling for. Same in Iraq. All my dispatches are still online.

Diagnosing cancer is unpleasant. Especially so when I am diagnosing my own country and family.

On an international front, the United States is making a tremendous mistake by not recognizing that Japan is by far our most important international partner. Alleged insults by our leadership to Japan must be clarified, and if any offense was given, a quick and sincere effort to amend any cuts. This matter is of utmost importance.

The wellbeing of the entire world rests heavily on the stability of United States, and our relations with the world.

Then I’d say the entire world is in one hell of a big pickle, and it’s only gonna get worse from here. The current contretemps in the US is a direct and unavoidable consequence of two wholly incompatible belief systems in cheek-by-jowl juxtaposition on the same land mass. This impasse absolutely demands resolution, which can only be achieved via total victory for one side, the utter defeat of the other.

It’s theoretically possible to settle the eternal conflict between liberty and meddlesome, smothering authoritarianism nonviolently—theoretically—although history tells us that ain’t the way to bet. Whatever the conflict’s outcome, though, settled it will be. The two antagonists cannot co-exist in endless deadlock; one must rule, and one must submit. Then, after a too-brief interlude of something like peace, the struggle will begin anew.

GOP must GO

Burn. It. DOWN. First, this happened.

According to a document that has surfaced, Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene is forming an “America First Caucus”.

From the document:

The America First Caucus (AFC) exists to promote Congressional policies that are to the long-term benefit of the American nation. The North Star of any policy proposal will be that which serves the American people, and any consequential analysis of policy platforms must be based on this first principle.

Here are the main political issues the caucus will focus on:

Election Fraud, Sovereignty, Big Tech, Immigration, Infrastructure, Foreign Aid, National Security, Trade, Environment, Energy, Protecting the Value of American Savings, America First Education, The Chinese Communist Party

A spokesperson for Marjorie Taylor Greene confirmed to CNN that the group is real and is being formed. The spokesperson also pointed out that someone leaked the draft for the caucus to the press.

Trump Ally Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) took to Twitter to announce he was “proud” to join the America First Caucus.

As well he ought to be. It certainly sounds perfectly reasonable to me, although my belief that we’re well past the point where elections can be of any use remains unchanged. Still, I wish only the best to Greene and her fellow patriots; at least they’re trying, and I could always be wrong about the chances of any political effort amounting to anything much. But if you know your Republicans, then you know that just name of this nascent caucus was enough to raise some hackles.

It only took a few hours for RINO favorite Adam Kinzinger to weigh in on the idea.

Kinzinger wants anyone who supports this idea to be removed from their committee assignments.

The Hill reported:

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (Ill.) blasted fellow GOP lawmakers who plan to join the “America First Caucus,” saying anyone who becomes a member should lose their committee assignments.

Kinzinger, a vocal critic of former President Trump, tore into the caucus after it was reported that GOP Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.) and Paul Gosar (Ariz.) would lead formation of the group.

The caucus calls for promoting “Anglo-Saxon political traditions,” and several House Republicans came out Friday to criticize the group and its policy platform.

Because of COURSE they did. I can’t help but wonder once more what it might be about the idea of making America great again or putting America first these Deep State carbuncles, Democan and Republicrat alike, find so offensive.

“I believe anyone that joins this caucus should have their committees stripped, and the Republican conference should expel them from conference participation,” Kinzinger tweeted.

“While we can’t prevent someone from calling themselves Republican, we can loudly say they don’t belong to us,” he added.

I certainly hope you do, Quizlinger—speaking for myself, I certainly wouldn’t want anyone to think I was associated in any way, shape, or form with you and your collaborationist Party. Once again, Vichy GOPers can be counted on to fight back against Real Americans a lot harder than they ever will Obama, Pelosi, or any of their other Deep State partners in crime. As it is written, so it shall be done.

(CNN)Conservative Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is scrapping the planned launch of her “America First” caucus after receiving blowback from leaders in her own party, despite confirming through a spokesperson on Friday that the caucus would launch.

Nick Dyer, Greene’s spokesperson, told CNN in an email on Saturday afternoon the Georgia Republican is not “launching anything.”

“The Congresswoman wants to make clear that she is not launching anything. This was an early planning proposal and nothing was agreed to or approved,” he said in an email to CNN, referring to a flier promoting the caucus, obtained by Punchbowl News, that used inflammatory rhetoric.

Wow, THAT didn’t take long. Evidently, Republicans can damned sure get things done when it’s something that really matters to them, eh? The “inflammatory rhetoric” was the line citing “Anglo-Saxon political traditions,” which I agree is just horribly horribly awful, a racist hate-crime for which the guy who suggested it should be put to death. And with that, here we all are.

Some Republicans wanted to start an “America First” caucus. Then the Republican leadership shut them down. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy tweeted this in response:

The Republican Party is the party of Lincoln & the party of more opportunity for all Americans—not nativist dog whistles.

SO. Anybody still believe the Ballot Box can save us? Because one thing is becoming painfully obvious:

With that tweet, Americans are on official notice: Our elected officials are no longer interested in representing the people of this nation. There is no longer a political or diplomatic solution to be found to avoid what is coming.

Nope. Myself, I’m beginning to wonder if there ever really was.

Darkness, falling

An extremely unflattering comparison.

Those old enough to remember the Cold War will recall, perhaps with some prompting, that the fight with the Soviets was as much a moral war as a political one. It was not that the communists were in error about some item in dispute. The communists were immoral because communism was immoral. Whatever the faults of liberal democracy, it was morally superior to the evils of communist totalitarianism.

At the time, this was not a tough case to make. Americans could speak out against the government, while Russians had to suffer in silence. The West had elections and big public spats over policy. Debate in the East was always behind the dreary walls of the communist party. Most important, the West did not have political prisoners, while the East operated camps, even small cities, for their dissidents.

A generation later and the roles are not exactly reversed, but it is now possible to argue that Russians are freer than Americans. Putin has his enemies jailed, but that’s now official policy in America. In the case of Putin, he does not relish in the torment of his opponents. There is some hint of shame there. In America, members of the regime take pleasure in tormenting those who speak out against them.

Take, for example, the case of Alexey Navalny, the CIA-sponsored critic of Putin who is now in jail. He claims poor treatment at the hands of the government, but he is able to speak to the media about it. In contrast, there are an unknown number of people in jail right now over the January protests. One was beaten by guards to the point where he lost sight in one eye.

Unlike with Alexey Navalny, The New York Times and The Washington Post are not demanding Ronald Sandlin be set free. The great and the good are not calling him a political prisoner, despite the fact he is literally in jail for politics. The folks who tell us “democracy dies in darkness” are happy that Ronald Sandlin now lives in darkness at the hands of the state. The political prisoners being held by the Biden regime envy Alexey Navalny.

It is not just at the extreme where the moral relationship has reversed. Russian citizens can walk up to the Kremlin and take pictures of it and themselves in front of it without fear of being shot by the army. Americans, on the other hand, will be sent to prison for daring such a radical act. People protest in Moscow all the time. As long as they are peaceful, they are left alone. Protest is banned in Washington now.

A generation ago, Americans knew they would win the Cold War, because they were right about the moral depravity of communism. Such a system could not last. The Soviet system did collapse, because devoid of moral authority, the cost of maintaining it eventually exceeded the benefits of the system. By the end, no one could think of a reason to sacrifice for the system or the people running it.

Americans are quickly approaching the same decision. As long as the material benefits are not threatened, most are happy to remain in their cells. At some point, though, the number of people no longer able to tell the good guys from the bad guys, the white hats from the black hats, will reach a critical mass. The ruling regime is burning what is left of its moral authority to fuel its hold on power. When the tank runs dry, they will join the communists in the dustbin of history.

There are other equally-invidious comparisons to be made, and to be learned from.

The parallels are so striking that one can wonder if there really is an unseen force guiding history along. Was there no one who might have stopped Hitler’s rise or the Russian revolution? Germany had no such person. Russia did. Pyotr Stolypin, though, was assassinated in 1911, and things just muddled along until Lenin and the communists took charge. Donald Trump in America tried heroically to stop the communists but failed. The left, controlling nearly all that matters in America, didn’t have to assassinate Trump to attain its goal.

Another interesting parallel works in reverse. Joe Biden best matches the pathetic Tsar Nicholas II, whom a coalition of liberals and socialists overthrew (before the Bolsheviks then overthrew them) to seize power and whose legacy is that of an uncomprehending fool. Biden came after the seizure of power by the Reds in Washington, but that hasn’t stopped him from modeling Tsar Nicholas’s foolishness. In fewer than three months, Joe’s incompetence has become legendary, bordering on comical.

Comical, only nobody’s laughing.

Ordinary people in 1917 Russia and 1933 Germany generally went about their business after monsters ascended to power. Perhaps they dreaded the future but had no way to change it or any idea of where things would go. It was probably best for them that they did not know. And so with us today.

“Best for them”? Well, back then, maybe. But only maybe, and only by a whisker. As the man says, in 1917 and 1933 the world didn’t have the benefit of a hundred-year record of death, impoverishment, and enslavement that are the inevitable products of Leftist ideology that we enjoy today. So people of that time can perhaps be given a pass for having been taken in by this extreme and inhuman ideology and all its evil works.

But today, we have no such excuse. Thus, I hardly think it can be considered “best” for anybody “not to know” their history. Actually, I consider such ignorance to be unforgivable, amounting to a crime which creates its own punishment—an extravagantly harsh punishment suffered by the deserving and the blameless alike. If we witness yet another nation stricken by this self-inflicted plague, no one who was either too mulish, too starry-eyed, or too just goddamned stupid to see what any even half-sentient soul could have told them was coming ought to be given a bye.

Raise ’em Right

Another fine idea whose time has…well, not come, exactly. More like been crammed down our throats.

Whew, digging a 300 square-foot bunker suitable for young children is hard work. My back isn’t what it used to be. So far, we’re 50 feet down in the backyard and are about to pour 10-inch thick WiFi-proof concrete walls. The kids will have goldfish, coloring books, a Kindle that contains all of Western classical literature, Play-Doh, and a hose for drinking water. They’ll be lowered into the hole when they turn six, and we’ll let them climb out when they turn 18.

We plan to tell any nosy neighbors that we sent the kids away to a new progressive anti-racism academy.

Cruel, you say? Not if you’re trying to insulate your precious children from the all-powerful wokeness algorithm. In fact, it’s the only way to be sure.

Will I miss them? Sure, but I’m comforted knowing they’ll be among the few who survive the radioactive wokelear fallout released this year.

Oh, you don’t want to chain your kids up in the basement and seal all the doors? Rather not ship them to an ice floe off Greenland, or a yurt in outer Mongolia?

Then, friends, you’re going to need to become a master of anti-wokeness.

They—you know who I mean—wish to consume your children: skin, muscle, bits, and bone. You must therefore make your children taste awful, like the little orange tree frogs who coat their skin with poison so hungry toucans spit them out. Force society to spit your children out of their ravenous maws. Make your children undesirable. Make them unbearable to the predations of the Left. It’s your job to ensure that the only way to change your kid’s minds is under threat of death, which, if present conditions hold, we may be approaching before they reach adulthood.

No one is pumping the brakes, like, at all. It’s only getting faster. You’re going to have to leap off the train, and push your babies out ahead of you. Fingers crossed you land on a soft patch of hay in a quiet ravine with no Wi-Fi or public schools within 100 miles. But you’ve got no choice. You are their only hope! Do not fail them. If you do nothing else as a parent, you must do this: prevent wokeness from colonizing their developing brains.

I dunno, but I get the feeling that maybe, just maybe, the author intends this piece to be taken as satire—it’s just so hard to tell nowadays. Be that as it may, the first recommendation seems practical enough.

ONE: Speak truth to gender, and never shut up.
I spent years pointing out decrepit junkies by the freeway on-ramp to my kids as a real-life anti-drug lesson. “See that sunburned hobo covered in open sores, Son? When he was a teenager he smoked pot once—once—and now look at him.”

When it comes to gender, beware! Lack of confidence and moral uncertainty in otherwise normal, educated parents have given the Pronoun People an easy port of entry into your child’s hungry cortex, and they are rushing into the breach.

Despite what the clowns running this circus want you to think, it actually IS possible to be 100% certain which gender your baby will identify with, as long as you commit as a parent to stopping entry of brain worms. Fake gender identities are a modern progressive social epidemic induced by the Internet, so it requires some avoidance techniques to prevent this infection.

First, you must shun gender neutrality. Dress your girls like ladies and your boys like off-duty firemen. If your little boy requests to wear a dress to school, tell him firmly that boys do not wear dresses, only girls do, and you refuse to allow him to entertain fantasy notions. If boys are allowed to wear dresses at your school, find a new school. If your children insist there are more than two genders, spend some time at the zoo and challenge them to identify these elusive other genders.

Oughta clear things up nicely, I believe. When it comes to dispelling the shitlib brain-fog, there’s no better fan than reality.

Evil is real

And must either be confronted, or yielded to.

Elections in America have always been contentious things, as the point of them is to get all sides as agitated as possible. If you wanted to find the point at which our elections turned ugly it would be when the concept of turnout became the focus. The surest way to get your guys motivated to vote is to convince them that the alternative is pure evil, the worst thing imaginable. Since one side will always lose, it means something close to half the country is always angry at the result.

The thing is though, it was always a game and most people got it. The candidates would say the vilest things about one another, but then carry on like old pals during a debate, showing the world they did not really mean those things. In fact, this is why the Left has controlled the country. Everyone else has always been sure the Left was not really serious about what they were saying. Despite it all, many people remain convinced that the Left today is just putting on a show.

That may be one of the factors creating the current crisis. The eruption of mass media over the last couple of decades puts the Left in our face all the time. There is no escaping politics today, which means there is no escaping the Left. Watch a sporting event and there will be lefty political preaching. Check the weather for your trip to the beach and you get a lecture on global warming. Go outside and you see people wearing three masks in their car, letting you know they are in that cult.

Of course, social media is like standing in front of a firehose. Even if you only want to follow something banal like entertainment news, you will be drenched in political commentary, almost entirely from the Left. The carnies all fashion themselves as philosophers now. The athletes have made politics a feature of their act. These are the dumbest, crudest people in our society, but they are sure you need to know what they have to say about current events.

There is another part to this. Along with not being able to escape the left-wing crazies, it is becoming increasingly clear that there is no living with them. Politics, regardless of the system, is about compromise. The opposing sides find some middle ground that they can accept or some combination of their proposals that prevent either side from feeling cheated by the other. In a democracy, compromise is based on the understanding that both sides want what is best.

How do you reach a compromise with someone who thinks invisible men from a faraway land used mind control to change an election? On top of that, they were perfectly willing to destroy the country over it. If one side is sure the other side is evil, there can never be a compromise. The best you can get is a truce in the hostilities, but eventually one side will attack again. After all, any compromise with evil is immoral on its face, so the only more thing to do is confront it.

The larger issue isn’t that one side believes the other is evil. The most pressing issue is that one side is, in fact, EVIL. When one identifies the Left as capital-E Evil, one is neither exaggerating for effect nor issuing an unfounded charge.

The problem is redoubled—nay, retripled, reFOURPLED, even—by the fact that the non-evil side is extremely reluctant to acknowledge that the Evil side is, in fact, EVIL. Then redouble it again owing to the Not-Evils’ dread of being thought of as—GASP!!—impolitic, overwrought, or just goshdarnit RUDE should they dare to conduct themselves according to the acknowledgement that they didn’t want to own up to in the first damned place, and…well, it won’t be long before everybody throws up their hands in despair, says to hell with it all, and heads on back home for a nice, frazzled-nerve-soothing nap on the couch.

Some of our Non-Evils really need to ask themselves a few things, and should not be allowed any dessert until they’re able to provide a satisfactory answer:

  • Do you truly believe that Leftists—Progressivists, liberals, Democrat-Socialists, whatever—are in fact Marxists/Statists/Commies/totalitarians/whatever?
  • Do you truly believe that Marxism/Socialism/Communism/totalitarianism/collectivism/whatever is in fact an evil ideology?
  • Can you explain why, exactly, having just admitted to truly believing both those things, you find it so difficult to just say so right out loud?

This, in turn, brings to boil a whole kettle of other most pertinent fish, a standout among which is the cognitive dissonance created by recognizing Evil and at the same time denying yourself any effective means to combat it. Some of the others I’ll likely be going into in a later post.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda

You’ve all seen the hysteria, the hyperbole, the agenda-driven misrepresentation. Now have a gander at what might have been.

The FBI isn’t alone in claiming the January 6 Capitol protest was the worst thing to happen to America since 9/11. A substantial share of nominally Republican politicians has joined that chorus. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) went so far as to say that Donald Trump will have “a place in history” for the Capitol riot: “They could have blown the building up. They could have killed us all.”

If only.

When Graham says this, he knows perfectly well that he is lying. Trump asked the hundreds of thousands of Americans who came to show their support to walk with him peacefully to the Capitol. He made “peaceful” explicit. Nonetheless, every corrupt politician and newscaster in America has been able to find the violent subtext buried somewhere in Trump’s speech.

Well, try this on for size: Suppose if, instead of saying “let’s walk to the Capitol peacefully,” Trump instead had said what everyone accuses him of saying. Suppose he’d said, “The election is being stolen from us and I’m not giving up power.” (Remember how the Left fantasized Trump would have to be removed from the Oval Office by force?) Suppose Trump continued: “I am calling on my supporters to defend my presidency with violence. Come to Washington. Bring your guns! Bring every weapon you can lay your hands on. Don’t let anyone stop you. No justice, no peace!”

If only.

What do you suppose would have happened then? Do you think that the only person to be shot that day would have been an unarmed protester? If Trump had one ounce of the autocratic, dictatorial tendencies the press accuse him of having, he need only have asked his supporters to defend him with force. They would have.

It’s hard to say what would have followed, but it would not have been pretty. If Trump had actually encouraged violence, the “Capitol Riot” would have been a bona fide riot. We wouldn’t be able to count the death toll on a single hand. It would take hundreds, or thousands, of hands. If Americans had come to Washington actually seeking to “kill them all,” as Graham so despicably insists, you can bet that they would have succeeded in killing at least some.

By some estimates, 1.5 million Americans showed up on January 6 to protest the theft of their right to vote. They were angry as hell, but overwhelmingly peaceful. Even with the FBI in maximum repression mode, there has been a grand total of 127 arrests. No one burned cars or besieged police stations. What, in contrast, would a million-and-a-half Antifa have done to Washington, D.C.?

Hundreds of thousands or even millions of Americans would have answered a call to arms from President Trump. That he never made such a call is patently obvious, most of all to the liars and blackguards who make these accusations. They feel safe to say whatever they want because they know that Trump is a vastly better man than they: Trump believes honestly (and in my view correctly) that he won reelection. He believes the most powerful office in the world was stolen from him. Yet he loves America far too much to bring it to violence on his account. His accusers know this, or else they wouldn’t dare utter a peep—because it would actually be dangerous for them.

How ironic, then, that Trump’s sincere patriotism and reluctance to thwart the coup against him by any means required should result in the permanent loss of the very nation he so cherished. Now, all anyone can do is watch as the dismal drama plays out to its unhappy ending, with all the horror and grief that will inevitably ensue after the curtain falls. We’ll never really know all the reasons for it, but whatever they were, Trump’s failure to “cross the Rubicon” didn’t come without its own cost, and it was steep.

Another point worth mentioning: Whereas Trump loves an America that has ceased to exist, Leftards have always reserved their allegiance for a muzzy dream of some future “America” that bears absolutely no resemblance to the one conceived, created, and bequeathed to us by our Founders.

Mike WHO?

Now ain’t this rich.

Reports are that former Vice President Mike Pence is “laying the groundwork for [a] 2024 Presidential Run.”

BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

But the only groundwork Pence should be laying is for his retirement. His surrender to the Democratic Party in the final days of the Trump presidency disqualifies him. Pence may very well be a “good man,” but he’s also a weak man and America’s future depends on men who are both principled and strong.

And most especially on principled men who are strong enough to honestly confront the fact that there’s no longer any hope to be found in elections. But now we come to the part I found interesting.

The contested election of 2020 was not unprecedented. In fact, it bears a striking similarity to the contested election of 1876. The Democratic Party in 1876 was comprised of ex-confederates, who had lost the Civil War, but had not lost their pro-slavery opinions. A Democratic victory foreshadowed a regressive future that Southern blacks feared would return them to slavery and Republicans feared would guarantee a proliferation of white supremacy. The fate of the nation hung in the balance.

The fate of our nation hung in the balance in a similar way in 2020. A Democratic victory foreshadowed a regressive future in our time, which has come to fruition because of the Biden Administration. In only three months’ time we have seen an unprecedented assault on our Constitution—our country is less safe, our border is less secure, our future prosperity is less certain, and our unalienable rights are methodically stripped away.

Republicans in 1876 were as concerned about rampant Democratic Party election fraud as we were in 2020. Rutherford B. Hayes, the Republican Presidential candidate 144 years ago, predicted that his defeat would be “by crime—by bribery, & repeating [voters]” in the North and by “violence and intimidation” in the South. Trump likewise predicted that the 2020 election  “will be, in my opinion, the most corrupt election in the history of our country.” Both Hayes and Trump were right. I won’t rehash every instance of Democratic voter fraud in 2020—it would be redundant for this audience and also would fill a binder as thick as the Democrats’ latest pork-ulus bill.

There are two stark differences between the contested election of 1876 and the contested election of 2020. One, unlike Hayes, who went to sleep on election night certain of defeat, Trump went to bed certain of victory. Two, unlike the congressional Republicans in 1876, who refused to concede and fought tooth and nail to prevent the Democrats from installing their illegitimate presidential candidate Samuel Tilden in the Oval Office, the Congressional Republicans in 2020 folded like cheap lawn chairs.

Read on for more fascinating stuff. The contrast between the actual statesmen we were still blessed with back then and the contemptible curs we’re plagued by now couldn’t be more striking—or appalling. This is the kind of true American history they just don’t teach in school anymore, and that ain’t no accident, either.

Church militant

I like the cut of this preacher’s jib.

Popular internet pastor tells his Church to “take them stupid masks off’ during Easter service
A popular pastor from Tennessee has stirred some controversy after telling some members of his congregation to “take off their stupid masks” during a service this past Sunday during Easter.

The move came despite federal guidance urging the wearing of masks to control the spread of COVID-19. Locke, who leads the Global Vision Bible Church in Tennessee, reportedly mocked some of his congregants for following that advice “like sheep”.  “Unless you’re under a doctor’s orders — and a few of you are — take them stupid masks off when you come to Global Vision! There, I said it on Easter.”

“Take them stupid masks off,” Locke declared during his Holy Week sermon. “Call me crazy? You come, pull up in the parking lot wearing two masks in a car by yourself. Call me crazy? That’s crack-smoking crazy is what that is.“ Locke, made the statement after reportedly referencing Isaiah 53:6, which says:

“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way;  and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” “It’s interesting God calls us that [sheep]. Not much has changed, has it? You remember this time last year? This time last year, they were like, ‘Oh my goodness! You cannot have resurrection service; you will kill everybody.’

‘You are gonna kill everybody within 250 miles.’ We ain’t killed nobody yet, by the way,” the pastor said. “And so the media started infusing us with fear tactics. You see, they know this verse, apparently. They know that people that are ignorant of Scripture willfully will obey any ridiculous mandate that the media gives them because it makes them feel better about themselves.”

Locke then praised Churches like this that stayed open for Easter stating:  “Since we’re a year in, I just want to verifiably say, thanks be to God for other churches that opened, that reopened, and thank God for churches that decided that they weren’t gon’ close at all. They saw through it. We’ve never closed yet.

We’ve never closed one single time during all this COVID debacle,” He goes on to say that it would have taken the entire US military to shut down his Church.  “They will roll up in tanks. They will drop down from helicopters. And I promise you, it won’t be a dozen police out there from Wilson County and from Mt. Juliet,” he declared.

“It’s going to take the entire United States military to roll up into this parking lot and tell us, ‘Hey, we can’t worship Jesus, and that we got to shut our church down, and that we can’t preach, and we can’t pray …’ You have lost your mind if you think I’ve given in to that! You have lost your mind if you think I’m giving into that mess! We are staying open forever! Forever!”

PREACH it, Rev.

A look ahead

CW v2.0, secession, and/or the breakup of the FUSA will not be anything like what some seem to imagine.

IMHO, whatever the red-and-blue patchwork remnants of the US map look like, they’re going to be run by corporations or warlords, or both. The a-holes that are currently riding herd on the this giant ponzi scheme are not just going to take their ruin philosophically.

And as crappy as the laws are at protecting our rights, liberties, and property now, they are going to be worse.

Also, there isn’t going to be some dramatic moment when “its over.” No one’s going to announce the end of the United States. They aren’t going to board up the doors of the FBI offices. They’re still going to have presidential elections. They’re still going to play the national anthem at your son’s basketball game.

Its going to be like the Warlords Period in China. There’s going to be areas where the government doesn’t assert control, doesn’t go – could be mountains, could be cities. You’ll hear rumors of ugly things happening there, but you won’t see any videos because Youtube will take them down. Decent people will leave those areas. Then one day out of the blue, some armed men are going to show up and want your stuff – you don’t know who they are, where they’re from. They don’t care about you or your politics, or your particular take on Edmund Burke or transgender bathrooms, but they’re going to take your F-150 and any gas you have. And maybe your food too. And that’s how you’ll find out that the United States has collapsed.

In my opinion this forecast is a lot nearer the mark than others I’ve seen put forth out there, although of course we won’t know it until we’re neck-deep in it. Bracken’s fantastic Enemies Foreign And Domestic trilogy, which I’ve mentioned here previously a time or three, is another slice of grim prescience that I think is right on target. Simultaneously depressing and gripping, I simply can’t recommend it strongly enough.

American exodus

Just the usual insightful deep dive from Codevilla.

By this century’s second decade, the oligarchs who occupy the commanding heights of American life had ceased trying to persuade. Self-government has declined as corporations have wielded public powers with private discretion. America’s ruling class—bipartisan, public and private—grew to disdain the rest of America’s religiosity, patriotism, and tastes. But until our own time, most Americans either had not noticed their loss of status as citizens or assumed that they could vote to regain it. But the rulers inspired no confidence and ruled by pulling rank.

In 2014, Pat Caddell’s study of public opinion, which he titled “We Need Smith,” found that:

Eighty-six percent of all voters believe political leaders are more interested in protecting their power than in doing what’s right for the American people. Eighty-three percent believe the country is run by an alliance of incumbent politicians, media pundits, lobbyists, and other interests for their own gain. Further, 79% believe that powerful interests from Wall Street banks to corporations, unions, and PACs use campaign and lobbying money to rig the system to serve themselves and that they loot the national treasury at the expense of every American. … Ninety-two percent say we must recruit and support for public office more ordinary citizens and fewer professional politicians. Not surprising when you consider that 81% believe both political parties do what’s in it for them rather than fix our nation’s problems.

Such figures bespeak neither conservatism nor liberalism, but widespread alienation and disdain among people who understand themselves to be subjects of a selfish power to which they have no personal connection and that exists beyond their collective control. Hence, in the runup to the 2016 election, the bipartisan ruling class entirely lost control of right-leaning voters and failed to hold on to nearly half of left-leaning ones. Opposed by both parties’ hierarchies, Donald Trump won the presidency more as a social rebel than as any kind of recognizable economic or political conservative, by appealing to people whose personal style and opinions on any number of subjects deviated from what was being presented as “mainstream”—including any number of people who had previously voted for Barack Obama and for Bernie Sanders.

Trump won in 2016 as the candidate who would lead the country class out of the clutches of the ruling class—as a caricature of Caddell’s Mr. Smith. The ruling class—Wall Street, K Street, Washington grifters, the educational establishment, the media, and the corporations—saw the alienation that Trump embodied as the mortal threat that it is to their own power and positions. Unable and unwilling to change their way of governing, or the system of heavily bureaucratized crony capitalism from which they so massively benefit, these people resolved to secure the votes of Blacks, Hispanics, women, and the young by encouraging them to make war on whites, men, and conservatives. “Hate thy neighbor and stick with us!” was their program. Hence the four-year campaign leading up to the 2020 election was all about hating Trump and beating down his voters on the basis of race, sex, the Russians—anything to divert from what the rampant oligarchy was doing to the rest of the country.

Ruling people by insulting and harming them is problematic, and not reversible. The use that the oligarchy made of the COVID epidemic added to insult and injury, as well as to its power, in a manner previously unimaginable. Boldly dismissing without argument the fact that viral infections cannot be stopped from running their course once they have taken root in a population, they asserted that acquiescing to indefinite cessation of social and economic activities they deemed to be nonessential would stop the disease’s progression. The ensuing lockdowns, mask mandates, and other measures made life for most Americans worse in every way. But these strictures also crippled the sectors of American society independent of and resistant to the oligarchy—religious institutions and small businesses. They isolated people and limited what they could hear from and say to each other, leaving them prey to one-way propaganda narratives backed by nightly threats of mob violence.

In the first few months of 2021, it is clear that widespread compliance with institutions and leading personages on which the American system of government has long rested is no longer possible. The oligarchy exercises all earthly powers. Its theophobia dismisses heaven’s. It substitutes “narratives” for truth. Because its members internalized the assumption that reason is simply what Hobbes called a scout for the passions, what Marx said is superstructural to material reality, and what the woke call “logism,” it has placed itself beyond the reach of argument. It can neither admit those it deems deplorable to real citizenship— never mind to society’s commanding heights—nor can it set bounds to the next round of exactions and humiliations that, having ditched persuasion, it must visit upon them.

The deplorables plainly stand no chance of dismantling the new American system. Corporate executives, not legislatures, governors, or presidents are the ones who decide what happens to the trillions of dollars created jointly by the Federal Reserve and Wall Street. They are the ones who regulate speech and attitudes, who for the most part decide who rises and who does not. And they are the part of the oligarchy most insulated from republican institutions.

New laws may be most useful for reviving old ones, such as the 1890 Sherman Antitrust Act. But the problem lies in a century’s accretion of administrative arrangements, court rulings, and above all, of self-serving practices. Nor would it be possible for these elected officials to restore the republic that was founded in 1776-79, even if an economic recession or act of Providence were to deliver solid electoral victories in the Senate, House, and presidency to a party of the country class (were one to come into being). That is because the republic’s substance withered over a century, and its husk collapsed over the past five years.

In our time, millions of people have grown up or been educated no longer to want or be able to live as citizens of what had been the American republic. Partisans in mind, heart, and habit, their support of the oligarchy’s partisan rule has left the United States with two peoples of opposing character, aspirations, and tastes within its national borders. The government bureaucracies are led by persons selected and habituated against the deplorables. The same can be said of the educational establishment and corporate boardrooms. What sort of dictatorial power would it take to purge them? Were the deplorables to struggle for the partisan power to oppress the others, they would guarantee dysfunction at best, war at worst. That is why it makes most sense for them to assert their own freedom.

That’s a pretty hefty excerpt, but even so we still only get around to the piece’s central theme with that very last sentence. There’s plenty more yet, so you know what you must do, Glasshoppa.

Creepy Nation

The whole issue comes down to a question of trust, really. Do you trust the government? If so, after all we’ve seen over the past year—at all levels, local, state, and federal—may I ask WHY?!?

Let’s assume for a minute, that the vaccination campaign is led by people who genuinely want to end the current crisis and restore the country to “normal”. Let’s also assume, that they believe that mass vaccination is the best way to achieve that objective by preventing the spread of the virus and, thus, reducing the death toll. Is that sufficient justification for silencing vaccine critics and conducting a nation-wide brainwashing operation aimed at controlling public opinion?

No, it’s not. People need to hear both sides of the story, in fact, that’s the only way they can make an informed decision about how they wish to proceed. The media has no right to commandeer the airwaves and control whatever people hear and see. And they have no right to deliberately exclude the medical professionals and other experts whose views conflict with the official narrative. The only way that people can offer their informed consent for vaccination, is if they’re able to weigh the risks and benefits for themselves. But that’s only possible if they have access to many diverse sources of information which, at present, they don’t. Increasingly, the only message that most people hear is the one that is provided by the government in collaboration with industry honchos and other elites. Traditionally, this type of state media is called “propaganda” which is a term that certainly applies here.

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out how this has affected the debate on vaccines, namely, there isn’t one. The skeptics have been dismissed as antivaxx loonies while an entirely new regime of experimental vaccines is being praised as a “miracle drug”. At the same time, the government –which has aligned itself with the industry it’s supposed to regulate– is doing everything in its power to pressure people into getting vaccinated. What we’re seeing is the most extravagant Madison Avenue “product launch” in America’s 245-year history, and it’s coming at us full-throttle from all sides. It’s virtually impossible to turn on the TV or radio without being deluged by one emotive vignette after the other all of which are aimed at promoting vaccination. How does this respect the right of the individual to make his own informed decision free from government coercion?

It doesn’t. This is flagrant indoctrination and yet no one talks about it. It’s shocking. Have you noticed how the critics of the mRNA vaccines have been prevented from expressing their views in the media? Have you noticed how the doctors, scientists, virologists, epidemiologists and public health experts have all been blocked from appearing on the cable news channels or excluded from the nation’s leading newspapers? Have you noticed how these critics been attacked on social media, censored on FaceBook and removed from Twitter? Have you noticed the lengths to which the media has gone to eliminate any challenge to the “official narrative” and to denounce, ridicule or blacklist anyone who dares to offer a conflicting opinion?

Why? Why is the media preventing these experts from articulating their reservations to the American people directly?

This is very scary stuff. Agents of the state now identify critics of the Covid vaccine as their mortal enemies. How did we get here? And how did we get to the point where the government is targeting people who don’t agree with them? This is way beyond Orwell. We have entered some creepy alternate universe.

It’s way worse than that; if you give any serious thought at all to it, it’s nothing short of terrifying. Scary as it is, this one’s a must-read for sure.

The nice thing is that there are still those indomitable souls out there who hew to one of the most hallowed of American traditions: finding the workaround in defiance of overbearing authority. Aesop provides the skinny over at BCE’s place, with link.

FWIW, state of WY has a pdf where you can print all the official blank ‘Rona cards you want:

https://health.wyo.gov/2020-covid-19-shot-card-2b/

And a quick search on Google images reveals a treasure trove of lot numbers and actual stickers, stamps, and signatures, for the Pfizer, Moderna, and J&J vaccines, for anyone who might want that sort of thing.

Just saying.

Thanks for that, my friend. A most helpful information dump, I’d say.

They just don’t make ’em like this anymore

Another comment-inspired post, this latest one brought on by Ironbear’s use of one of true American hero Chesty Puller’s most well-known quips: They have us surrounded. There’s no way they can escape from us now. That got me to digging around for more Puller quotes to respond with, plenty of which are easy to find on the Intarwebs. A sampling—all of them good, all candid and plain-spoken, some alarmingly prescient.

“Our country won’t go on forever, if we stay soft as we are now. There won’t be any America—because some foreign soldiery will invade us and take our women and breed a hardier race.”

“They are in front of us, behind us, and we are flanked on both sides by an enemy that outnumbers us 29:1. They can’t get away from us now!”

“Great. Now we can shoot at them from every direction.”

“We’re surrounded. That simplifies our problem of getting to these people and killing them.” – November 1950, during Chosin Reservoir campaign

“Remember, you are the 1st Marines! Not all the Communists in Hell can overrun you!” (at the Battle of Chosin Reservoir)

“Take me to the Brig. I want to see the real Marines.”

“Where do you put the bayonet on the damn thing?” (upon seeing a flamethrower demonstrated for the first time)

“You don’t hurt ’em if you don’t hit ’em.”

There’s something for Real Americans to learn from in every one of these, either the words themselves or the fearless, never-say-die spirit of the man who spoke them. A few more:

“The mail service has been excellent out here, and in my opinion this is all that the Air Force has accomplished during the war.”
– Chesty Puller in a letter to his wife while in Korea

When an Army captain asked him for the direction of the line of retreat, Col Puller called his Tank Commander, gave them the Army position, and ordered:

“If they start to pull back from that line, even one foot, I want you to open fire on them.”

Turning to the captain, Chesty Puller replied “Does that answer your question? We’re here to fight!” At Koto-ri in Korea

“They are a damn sight better than the U.S. Army, at least we know that they will be there in the morning.”
– Lewis B. Chesty Puller, when a journalist asked him about being surrounded by 22 enemy divisions

“There are not enough Chinamen in the world to stop a fully armed Marine regiment from going where ever they want to go”

That last one smarts a bit, seeing as how Puller’s beloved Corps has fully knuckled under and is now welcoming opportunistic cross-dressers seeking choppadicktomy surgery on the USMC’s dime, as well as boatloads of mollycoddled bimbelinas incapable of meeting minimal standards for physical fitness, into its ranks. The entire US military is now every bit the hollow, ineffectual parody of its former robust self that the country it serves has become. Which is only fitting, I guess. Really, how could it possibly be otherwise? They’ve both been drinking from the same poisoned well.

America just isn’t turning out fierce, indomitable warriors like Chesty Puller anymore, and that’s no accident; it isn’t, because it can’t. That’s no accident either, rather being just one of the Left’s strategic objectives. Thanks to “diversity,” political correctness, general pusillanimity, and overall Leftard tomfoolery, the nation has created a military wholly unable to effectively fulfill its sole purpose of defending the nation.

How powerfully ironic that the Chinese will never even need worry about stopping that “fully-armed Marine regiment” of Chesty’s in the first place. Neither will it be necessary to send a single PLA soldier here for invasion, conquest, and colonization purposes. Thanks to the FUSA’s having sat back limply as its internal enemies slit its throat, the ChiComs already own the banana republic lock, stock, and barrel anyway, without ever mussing a single dink grunt’s hair.

The intentional sapping of our national will and self-respect cost us legendary fighting men like Puller, Claire Chennault, Curtis LeMay, George Patton, Jimmy Doolittle, Pappy Boyington, Audie Murphy, Dick Winters, and too many others to list, “fundamentally transforming” them from role models into icons of American immorality and disgrace. Even worse, celebrating their selfless bravery has been disallowed; in certain despicable circles, they and their exploits are to be harshly condemned, eventually to be quietly edited out of the historical record and forgotten.

The most bitter irony of all? The Left robbed us of these exemplars of real American greatness precisely when we needed them most. Which was no accident either.

Never underestimate your enemy

They aren’t haplessly floundering about. They’re working a plan.

For every monstrosity the Democrats drag forth before the public, they are pursuing another hundred out of the spotlight within the labyrinthine administrative state that makes law while no-one is looking. This administration is relentless in pursuing bad policies that hurt Americans and erode further the few constitutional bonds that keep the nation intact.

Which leads to a painful possibility:

I find myself asking the same questions millions of Americans now ask themselves: given this campaign of outright hostility toward the American people and general dereliction of duty to protect and defend the states, is the American government intentionally trying to provoke civil conflict? Are all these horrendous policies leading to armed confrontation against red state holdouts? Has D.C. transformed the Iraq War’s “Preemptive War” Doctrine into a plan of action against its own citizens?

Yes. C’mon, ask me a HARD one, whydon’tcha.

The estimable Sundance at Conservative Treehouse thinks so and recently posted a blunt warning that the Democrats’ overt politicization of the U.S. military (its staged Capitol encampment, ideological purge of Trump voters, and shameful public battles with conservative news pundits and Republican lawmakers) should be seen as part of a larger strategy by the centralized government in D.C. to prepare for the use of military force against individual states and regions of the country that may choose to push back against unconstitutional federal power grabs in the future. Now that the pretext of using troops to put down MAGA “insurrectionists” has been established, it will be ignominiously used to justify military support for confiscating guns, enforcing extended pandemic lockdowns, and identifying Americans too attached to the Bill of Rights. (The fact that Sundance chose the Ides of March to outline the likelihood of such an intimate betrayal by the military against the states is, I suspect, no coincidence for a meticulous writer who enjoys reaching readers on an emotional, as well as an intellectual, level.)

What really caught my eye, though, was the way commenters responded to the article: they almost universally agreed that the U.S. military could no longer be trusted and that it should instead be viewed as yet another institution successfully co-opted by the Democrats to push “woke” socialism, enforce commie cancel culture, and punish conservatives. Just as James Comey’s spying on the Trump campaign and Robert Mueller’s Democrat-led Russia collusion investigation destroyed the reputations of the FBI and DOJ, and just as John Brennan’s public disinformation and propaganda leaks designed to take down President Trump forever politicized the CIA, now Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s decision to go after and eliminate Trump voters in the military’s ranks has dramatically weakened the public’s trust in the military.

If these questions don’t haunt the men and women now holding the reins of government in D.C., then they are monumental fools on at least two levels: (1) they have deceived themselves into believing that some chimerical international government will provide global peace and security in the years to come; and (2) they have forgotten so much of American history that they actually believe American patriots can be subdued and brought to heel without causing much of a stir.

The first failure reflects profound ignorance; the second failure reflects profound hubris.

Ahh, but there’s the rub: do they really? Is that really what either of these reflect? For the matter of it, is it accurate to call them failures at all?

On the first one: Global government, along with eugenics, rule by Expert, and micromanagement over every last aspect of human society, are the founding principles of Progressivism, the Prime Directives of the Left. They’ve doggedly chased the dream of global government for many decades, and are undeniably closer to seeing it realized than ever. Failure? Not while the US is still a member in good standing of the UselessN, hosting its HQ, tolerating its systemic corruption without demur, and paying most of its bills, it ain’t.

Nor is the second presumed “failure” so easily dismissed. With the successful installation of an illegitimate hard-Left US regime after several generations of incremental infiltration of every nook and cranny of both government and culture, we’ll soon be finding out who can and who cannot be “subdued and brought to heel without causing” etc. It ain’t exactly “profound hubris” if you wind up proven right in the end. After a year’s worth of American cattle obediently moo-ing their way right through the doors of the FauxVID19 slaughterhouse, I wouldn’t want to bet real money either way.

And taken together, these Democrat delusions will deliver a profound American tragedy.

“Profound tragedy,” at least, is spot on. THAT became pretty much a fait accompli when Real Americans permitted, over the course of decades, multifarious “Democrat delusions” to be implemented without meaningful resistance. Trusting souls that they were, the poor dears actually believed the GOPe was sincere in their forked-tongue promises to stand firm against such depradations, and to undo those already in place.

I dunno; it’s all kinda funny, in a way. Or would be, if not for the genuine harm inflicted on so many blameless Americans who really didn’t deserve it. But if those victims finally do find and embrace their righteous rage, then perhaps the wanton destruction of their once-admirable nation will be avenged. And the longtime tormentors of America That Was—Vichy GOPe or Demonrat alike—will have justice visited upon them for what they’ve done at long, long last.

Whatever course events may take, whichever side of the national divide you might stand on, profound tragedy is indeed at hand. Perhaps the biggest tragedy of them all, though, is that it’s come to this in the first damned place. It never should have, and didn’t really even have to. Yet somehow, here we all are anyway.

On our watch? NOT!

Wes contends that, since we’re the ones who allowed it to happen, it’s on us to put things right.

The Deep State is overseeing the fall from greatness of the United States. There is no freedom without bravery. As a society, are we free if we tolerate intimidation by government agencies like the IRS, FBI, DHS etc. Are we free if we allow the NSA to illegally search and seize our private documents? Are we free if we allow ourselves to be forcibly placed into an ill-conceived health care system with forced vaccinations? We are no longer in the process of relinquishing the freedom that is America, we have freely given it away. Are we really brave if we allow all these things to occur and keep silent because we are afraid that some government agents will come and hold us indefinitely without cause? The Deep State just stole our country from us in broad daylight and smirk at us. They dare us to do something about it.

Our forefathers’ worst nightmare has now come upon us. They created a free government, limited in its powers and a servant to the people. But today the United States has become an empire, fast decaying into tyranny, and we their children have become strangers and subjects in the land our fathers won. Instead of a free and just social and political order, today we are threatened by a Godless national culture and a corrupt, despotic federal government that knows no limits to its power.

We are NEVER going back to the America that was. The America we once knew is DEAD! Our children and grandchildren deserve so much better.

Freedom is not reserved for those unwilling to fight for it.

Nope. In fact, freedom is never stable, permanent, or cheap. It must be jealously guarded, scrupulously maintained, and eternally defended—yes, even violently defended, as spelled out in the clear and simple words of the Second Amendment—lest it be taken away. Freedom can never be assumed; it must be earned, again and again and again, by each successive generation. It is always under attack, ceaselessly endangered by enemies who are tireless, relentless, and ruthless.

Bayou Peter rediscovers an uncomfortable truth about those enemies.

I’ve fought Communism in more than one country, over an extended period of time. I’d thought that, in my old age, I could relax and hand on the fight to others. It looks like I was wrong.

Hate to say it, buddy, and I sincerely hope I don’t come off like I’m trying to be insulting or anything like that, but, well…yes, you were. No disgrace in it, of course. Certainly you and others like you—doughty, valiant men who have personally faced the foe and stared him down—have earned a respite. But it can never be. Because of who and what they are, the Enemy will not allow it. In truth, so profound is their lust for unconstrained power, they CAN’T allow it. It simply ain’t in ’em.

Oh, well. A lot of Communists and their followers have tried to kill me over the years. I’m still here, as are many other veterans of hot zones in the Cold War. I guess the ideological descendants of those Communists are going to have another go at us, and people like us. Well, we may be old farts now, but I think we can still pull a rabbit or two out of the hat if we have to…

You—WE—will indubitably find out. And so will our children, then their children, their children’s children, on down through the long years. Each generation’s devotion to freedom will be tested. Why? It’s quite simple, really. If there’s any one thing about the Left that we all should fully and firmly understand by now, it is what I have repeatedly said of them: They will NOT stop. They will NEVER stop. They will have to BE stopped. Tyrants, in short, are forever.

The Left will ALWAYS come back for another bite at the apple, until either Team Liberty is vanquished utterly or they are dead, dead, DEAD. They cannot be reasoned with. They cannot be compromised with. They cannot be appeased, placated, or bought off. They are supremely uninterested in peaceful coexistence with a free people not under their total control. From the sidebar, Daniel Webster may have said it best.

There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters.

Webster spoke those wise words many years ago, but nothing has changed since, nor will it ever. NC Reed put the thing a bit differently, but the sentiment remains the same, as does the situation. As Webster

Ain’t no misunderstanding this war. They want to rule us and aim to do it. We aim not to allow it. All there is to it.

It is indeed. Period. Full stop. End of story. They destroy us, or we destroy them. There is no third way. Nobody has to like it. But sooner or later, no one will be excused from his confrontation with the fateful decision: to bend the knee, or to stand your ground. And then, we will have to choose—a choice that will both reveal and define us, now and for all time.
