Jill and I join citizens across our nation in praying for the families of our fallen, and for those who were injured during these latest acts of senseless violence. We are also grateful for the courageous work of law enforcement—who risked their own safety to bring an end to these deadly shooting sprees. Federal law enforcement officials are on the ground working with State and local law enforcement in both states and I have directed that all necessary support be provided to assist in the investigations and support these communities.

This year alone, our nation has experienced more than 600 mass shootings, and approximately 40,000 deaths due to gun violence. This is not normal, and we can never let it become normal.

For all the action we have taken since I’ve been President, the epidemic of gun violence we face demands that we do even more. But we cannot do more without Congress. Republican lawmakers must join with Democrats in Congress to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, pass a national red flag law, enact universal background checks, require the safe storage of guns, and advance other commonsense measures that will help stem the tide of gun violence. And together, we must do more to prevent more families, and more communities like Austin, San Antonio, and Las Vegas, from being ripped apart by gun violence.”

Yeah, let’s allow you gun-grabber shitweasels to rip the entire fucking country apart by gun “control” and/or confiscation instead. The unmasking of the Sociopathic Generation

At last, le mot juste.

Even the Blessed St. Greta of the Melting Glaciers is being unmasked. Just the News notes that Thunberg is losing support in the climate movement over her pro-Palestinian stance. Thunberg has repeatedly posted photos of herself holding signs supporting Palestine and attending protests. She has also solicited donations for suspect organizations such as Medical Aid for Palestinians, which has been accused in the past of misusing funds and airing videos by David Duke, of all people.

Thunberg’s organization, Fridays for Future, has a long history of anti-Israel sentiment. She also posted and then quickly deleted a photo of her and some friends holding pro-Palestine and climate signs with a blue stuffed octopus in the background. The octopus was a symbol used in Nazi propaganda to attack the Jews and accuse them of intending to dominate the world. India Today covered the story, noting that when Thunberg was called out for the post, she stated, “It has come to my knowledge that the stuffed animal shown in my earlier post can be interpreted as a symbol for antisemitism, which I was completely unaware of. The toy in the picture is a tool often used by autistic people as a way to communicate feelings.”

Uh-huh. Sorry, Greta. You don’t even get points for trying.

Let us have no more musings that these college students and their accompanying anti-Semites are misguided young people or that “from the river to the sea” or calls for intifada are not literal but figurative. Anyone letting those words dribble from their lips sympathizes with the hordes, is trying to play it straight down the middle to protect their interests, or is so gormless and feckless that for their own safety, they should not be allowed to cut their food.

These protestors have come of age in or become accustomed to living in a bubble in which their needs are always met and their whims are always accommodated. And if those demands are not met quickly enough, a tantrum or outburst will ensure compliance. Be that as it may, they know what they are saying and what those words mean, and they don’t care.

The endorphin rush from activism, superiority, and hate is too great for them to resist. And like all fascists, they couch their evil in what they believe to be heroic rhetoric. In truth, they care for no one but themselves. They are the ideological grandchildren of the Brownshirts. Given time and aided and abetted by our current justice and educational systems, they will become the ideological grandchildren of the Gestapo.

“Become,” Lincoln? I think it quite safe to say we’re well past that stage at this point.

Well, the war on Christmas certainly started early this year. On the streets of New York. And in the ugliest way possible.

By now, everybody will have seen the footage of anti-Israel activists and pro-Palestinian extremists trying to disrupt the Christmas tree-lighting at Rockefeller Center.

Let’s ignore for a moment that one of the crowd was carrying a swastika and that the general mood of the crowd was more of a mob than a demonstration.

What did they think they were doing?

Perhaps these thugs had been emboldened by managing to interrupt the Macy´s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

But what had Macy’s ever done to them? And why attack a Christmas tree-lighting ceremony? Who do these people think they are?

The answer is that they are fanatics, and fanatics who have whipped themselves up into a huge lie.

The idiots trying to stop the Christmas tree-lighting on Wednesday night kept chanting for an “end to genocide.”

But if any of these people had ever left their college dorm rooms, they might have discovered that there is no genocide going on in Gaza.

The fact is that these thugs are issuing genocidal chants.

And doing it on the streets of New York.

How did it come to this?

Well, one thing is that since the mass murder of Jews on October 7, the sewers have burst in country after country.

Mainly in what we think of as the civilized West.

And the reasons?

Well, there are several. One was highlighted by the late Dr. Henry Kissinger in an interview he gave recently.

As the usually terse and circumspect Kissinger told a friend: “It was a grave mistake to let in so many people of totally different cultural and religious concepts. Because it creates a pressure group inside each country that does that.”

Across Europe, the countries that had the most lax immigration policies in recent years are now seeing a serious public backlash.

Last week, the streets of Dublin were burning. Literally.

When an American patriot showed up at Wednesday´s Christmas ceremony with an American flag, a protester tried to tear the flag from his hands and others shouted, “Allahu Akhbar.”

The attack in October was a tragedy for Israel. But it has also highlighted a looming tragedy in our own countries.

Because it never was just about Israel. It’s about all of us.

Indeed. If it hopes to survive more or less intact, Western Civ better address its serious case of RIS (Recto-cranial Inversion Syndrome©: an autoinflicted, extremely communicable malady that causes blindness, paralysis, and moral/ethical/intellectual vacuity; for societies and individuals alike, the condition is usually fatal if not promptly diagnosed and treated) and recognize at long last who its truest, deadliest enemies are, before it’s too late—assuming that it’s not too late already.

I enjoyed multiple trips up to midtown to just hang out and enjoy the big tree and watch the skaters every Christmas season for as long as I lived in NYC. My then-inamorata worked fairly close by at Bloomies, so I’d go meet her when she got off, we’d grab a bag of roasted peanuts or a warm pretzel from a street-vendor cart to share, and stroll over to Rockefeller Center for a while. So speaking strictly for myself: when these useless skinbags try to mess with the Rock-C tree, they’re walking on the fightin’ side of me.

‘Bomb the churches’: Trans-identified man indicted for threats to sexually assault Christian girls
Court docs: Suspect identified as ‘open pedophile,’ vowed ‘many more and larger attacks on Christians’

A trans-identified Illinois man and alleged self-described “pedophile” is facing charges for making social media threats to sexually assault Christian girls and commit copycat attacks similar to the attack at a Christian school in Tennessee earlier this year.

Jason Lee Willie of Nashville, Illinois, was charged Nov. 7 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois with 14 felony counts of interstate communication of a threat to injure, according to a federal indictment.

The threats, which are dated between March and August, include repeated references to Christians, black Americans, the Republican Party, and others.

Among the alleged threats cited in the indictment are threats to “bomb the churches”: “…We’re gonna bomb them, we’re gonna bomb them. We’re gonna bomb the churches. We’re gonna bomb them. You know it. We’re going to kill you…”

In an online video, Willie — who also goes by “Alexia N. Willie,” according to court documents — made reference to “Christian trash,” adding, “They’re transphobic, they’re homophobic, they’re no different than the [expletive] white supremacists….”

The indictment alleges Willie also frequently used racial epithets and threatened to target anyone “with a cross around your neck.”

Prosecutors say Willie also specifically mentioned harming children, with online video threats such as, “…We’re coming for your children. We’re not going to hurt you. We’re not going to hurt you.

“You have to understand, I know how to get to you, and that’s by [pounds fist into palm twice for emphasis] f— your children. By hurting your children. And that’s exactly what we’re going to do.”

In August, Willie made an online video in which he allegedly said, “Well, I guarantee I’ll be in the bathroom raping your Christian daughters and there ain’t nothing you f— can do about it. You hear me?”

According to prosecutors, in another August video, Willie appeared to identify himself as a pedophile when he graphically described sexual abuse toward “little girls” and said, “You guys can’t do nothing about it. I don’t care, I’m openly a pedo. I’m openly a pedophile…”

In another video, prosecutors say Willie said trans-identified people are “tired of being picked on and we’re going to go into the schools and we’re going to kill their f— children out here, and that’s the end of it.

“We’re at war.”

A U.S. Navy medical officer has blown the whistle and gone public with explosive internal data regarding surges of serious health issues among vaccinated military personnel.

Lieutenant Ted Macie has selflessly waived anonymity in order to raise the alarm about the startling number of troops suffering potentially fatal heart-related problems.

Macie is currently serving as an officer in the Navy Medical Service Corps.

He has now bravely come forward as a whistleblower and disclosed Department of Defense (DOD) data that suggests a notable increase in heart-related problems among military pilots after receiving the COVID-19 mRNA injections.

Lieutenant Macie, who also serves as a Navy Health Administrator and Medical Recruiter, presented these discoveries in a recent video.

So how significant is this “surge in heart failure” under discussion, anyhoo? Oh, not too bad, only a piffling…uhh…let’s see now…ummmm…carry the nought…

Mara Macie issued a strong response to Sen. Eric Schmitt’s (R-MO) proposal to rehire previously discharged servicemembers.

As Slay News reported, Schmitt is calling for the discharged troops to be rehired with “full back pay, rank, and an apology.”

She emphasized the significant lack of trust in military leadership among those impacted by “illegal mandates.”

“No,” Mara Macie declared in a lengthy post on Twitter/X.

“Thousands of servicemembers were treated with ‘disrespect’ and fired because of ‘tyranny,’ yet citing recruitment challenges as a reason this should be a priority diminishes the sentiment.

“There is a complete lack of trust in the military ‘leadership’ among those who were not only involuntarily separated, but also those who walked away (including just shy of retirement), those who fought from within but were flagged for promotion, those who didn’t want to take the shot but were coerced, and us family members who have been told that our community’s mental and physical health is important to that alleged leadership.

“Accountability is the only answer,” she continued.

Agreed, eleventy-thousand percent. Let’s not anyone be holding our breath waiting for it, though. The only way the orcs responsible for this monstrous crime will ever see any real accountability is if we deal it out to ‘em ourselves. Alas, we all already know what that will necessarily involve.

Deadspin reporter blasted by mom of young Kansas City Chiefs fan he falsely shamed for wearing ‘blackface’: ‘He is Native American’
The mother of a young football fan who wore a headdress and painted his face red and black to a Kansas City Chiefs game has blasted Deadspin for accusing him of “doubling up” on racism against black and Native communities — noting that her son is himself Native American.

Holden Armenta became an unexpected focus of an article by senior writer Carron Phillips that focused on a photo of the boy standing sideways, suggesting he was wearing blackface with no mention of the red side.

“The NFL needs to speak out against the Kansas City Chiefs fan in Black face, Native headdress,” read the headline, which accused the boy of “doubling up on the racism.”

Phillips, a former New York Daily News reporter, also slammed Holden’s Native American headdress and his “Tomahawk Chop” gesture, claiming the boy “found a way to hate Black people and Native Americans at the same time.”

“It takes a lot to disrespect two groups of people at once,” Phillips wrote in the article, which has since been tagged with a community note on X branding it “purposely deceiving.”

No link to Phillips’ original hit-job here, because fuck that noise.

The boy’s outraged mother, Shannon Armenta, shared numerous images of her son getting a warm reception at the game — while suggesting Deadspin focused on a photo that hid the fact that half her son’s face was painted red.

“This has nothing to do with the NFL,” she wrote, suggesting the photo was picked purely “to create division”

“He is Native American — just stop already,” she wrote of her son.

In fact, Holden’s grandfather, Raul Armenta, sits on the board of the Chumash Tribe in Santa Ynez, California, according to the Post Millennial.

Raul is listed as a “business committee member” who was first elected to the board in 2016 on the tribe’s website.

Unsurprisingly, Le Batard’s take ruffled some feathers, especially at Outkick, where Bobby Burack authored a post titled “Update: Dan Le Batard defends Deadspin for lying about Chiefs kid wearing Blackface.” The post, which suggested the kid in question’s family could sue Le Batard, would have been ridiculous enough considering the Meadowlark Media co-founder wasn’t defending Deadspin so much as he was mocking the right’s outrage despite his belief that the costume was still racist in nature. But that was before Burack took to social media to produce the a “gotcha” moment: a picture of Le Batard wearing black and red face paint while dressed as the professional wrestler Kane.

Lawsuits all around, I’m thinking, which hopefully will at the very least bankrupt Deadspin, thereby depriving Karen Phillips of gainful employment and forcing him into a field of endeavor more suited to his abilities, such as cleaning hotel rooms or manning a drive-thru window in Keokuk or something.

Antifa-linked far-left militants are fundraising for the release and legal aid of a Florida far-left trans activist accused of murdering a man, setting fire to his home and burglarizing his property.

Matthew Daniel Temael, who uses the alias and trans name “Dandelion,” was arrested in September over the March murder of a man in Hawthorne, Putnam County, Fla. The 23-year-old Minnesota native is accused of stabbing Louis Stackhouse to death and then setting his mobile home on fire before going on the run with the victim’s vehicle. Temael was found driving the stolen 2008 Saturn Sky in Tampa during a traffic stop. Temael attempted to flee but was caught.

The website of extremist antifa-linked group, Anarchist Federation, put out a fundraising notice on Nov. 19 about Temael, who uses “she/her” pronouns.

“Dandelion is a transfemme Palauan youth anarchist incarcerated in Florida,” reads the post. “We aim to free her and help support her needs while she is inside.”

Temael was indicted by a Putnam County grand jury on charges of first-degree homicide, first-degree arson, burglary and vehicle theft. Because a judge denied Temael bond, the far-left activists say funds raised for their comrade will go to “maintaining inside contact, software, or other materials,” as well as support for other “marginalized relatives in captivity with her.” Toward the end of the campaign, it says the money will also go to the unnamed people running the campaign.

Joe Biden’s 81st Birthday Cake Was the Perfect Metaphor for Our Country
Did you know that it was Joe Biden’s 81st birthday on Monday? Because it was Joe Biden’s 81st birthday on Monday. He turned 81 years old—a fairly common occurrence for someone who was born 81 years ago.

Did I mention he turned 81 years old? Because he did, in fact, turn 81 years old. Of course, as PJ Media previously reported, the White House didn’t exactly want to call attention to the fact that Joe Biden is 81 years old, because Americans aren’t exactly comfortable with his advanced age and want him to call it quits and let someone else seek the Democratic nomination. As such, none of the social media accounts connected to the White House or Joe Biden mentioned his 81st birthday on Monday until the evening, when fewer people are paying attention. If the evening news was hoping for an 81st birthday photo op to report on, they didn’t get it in time.

And boy, what a mistake that was.

But what really got me about the photo was how familiar the cake was. Did you notice? It wasn’t just that the 81 candles looked like they were going to burn down the White House, but there was an undeniable resemblance between the cake and something that makes it the perfect metaphor for our country:

As soon as I made this connection, I couldn’t unsee it. Joe Biden’s birthday cake resembled a dumpster fire, and how perfect is that for Joe Biden, considering what he’s done to this country in just a few short years? Of course, there are a variety of fire metaphors that could work, but I think the dumpster fire is the most spot-on. I’m not sure who thought putting 81 candles on such a small cake was a great idea, but I’d be willing to bet there was some debate over whether a raging inferno was politically safer than a cake with two candles reading “81.” In the end, they clearly figured the cake requiring a fire extinguisher was the way to go, which tells you exactly how much the White House public relations team understands that Joe Biden’s advanced age is a problem. I suspect they figured it was literally worth the risk of setting the White House ablaze rather than publishing a photo with Biden in front of a cake with candles reading “81.”

Heh. There’s another humorous angle to the photo which Matt doesn’t touch on here—apart from the obvious Reichstag fire one, I mean—but Steve Miller helpfully did.

It pays to stay abreast of developments in deceit. Those who fail to do so might not recognize occasions when someone is striving to mislead them. That can lead to unpleasantness.

One that is seldom appreciated for its ironic beauty recently poked its head above the high-slime line:

Late Wednesday, the Capitol Police confronted violent protesters outside the DNC’s HQ in Washington, D.C. The situation was particularly tense because top members of the Democratic Party, some of whom receive a 24-hour security detail from the Capitol Police, were inside the building at the time. Multiple police officers were injured in the violence, which the Capitol Police confirmed was violent and more resembled a riot.

“That is quite an image. We haven’t seen an image like that since January 6,” [CNN anchor Dana] Bash said of images from the violence plastered on the screen.

Let’s pause here for a moment. A couple of years ago, Mainstream Media news figures compared the events in Washington D.C. on January 6, 2021 to recognized horrors such as those in Manhattan on September 11, 2001. They employed the latter atrocity as a standard: something by which to measure other things. That’s what standards are.

Above, nearly three years since the January 6 disturbance at the Capitol Building, Dana Bash uses that event as a standard by comparing the riot outside DNC headquarters to it. This implies that the January 6 disorder, which was far milder than the press strove to portray it, has become a measuring stick for outbreaks of violent disorder.

However, Bash appears to have realized immediately that she’d “overplayed her hand:” that is, that the events of January 6, 2021 were not usable as a standard for atrocities…or at least not yet:

Reacting to the incident on CNN, network anchor Dana Bash compared scenes from the violence to Jan. 6 — before immediately trying to retract the comparison.

“Totally different topic, totally different kind of people. I mean, I don’t want to at all compare the sort of substance of it,” Bash backtracked, “but the idea that there was violence and that there were Capitol Police officers actually hurt there.”

Just a moleskin-gloved minute there, Colonel: Were any Capitol Police injured on January 6, 2021? There were no reports thereof, even though those selfsame police killed at least two of the protestors. But perhaps I should stick to the main point.

The “promotion” of the scandalously slandered January 6 protest into a standard for the measurement of “other atrocities” might succeed among hard-left-wingers and the most credulous. But owing to the slow leakage of real-time videos from the Capitol protest, the percentage of Americans who are aware of the realities has grown steadily. Perhaps Bash realized that, though not quite in time to avert the comparison.

Quite a rare thing in a way, this sudden spontaneous outburst of candor revealing her considered opinions on the matter, however moronically at variance with observable reality they are; distorting or concealing them is the usual practice of such “people.” Her impromptu scrambling to cover for the invidious comparison betwixt the J6 protests and bona fide destruction and violence committed by shitlib rioters might bespeak a shifting of the prevailing political winds, one must hope.

The FBI Halted Probe Of Pedophile To Focus On January 6. Now He’s Accused Of Abusing A 10-Year-Old Boy.
Alleged pervert sent undercover FBI agent video of “a prepubescent minor male being anally penetrated by an adult male’s erect penis,” but “On January 6, 2021, FBI, Washington Field Office [decided] this investigation was halted due to events that occurred at the United States Capitol Building that day.”

“Alleged.” I like that. “Alleged.”

On January 6, 2021, the FBI explicitly chose to abandon a sting on a child pornographer in Virginia who was messaging with an undercover agent about having sex with a nine-year-old boy, opting instead to focus on prosecuting Donald Trump’s supporters who stormed the U.S. Capitol. Less than three years later, the FBI discovered the same man living in Alaska where he appears to have been performing sex acts on a 10-year-old boy, according to court documents.

On December 2, 2020, an internet user with the screen name “gayboy69freak” messaged an undercover agent with the FBI’s Washington Field Office, who was posing as a father pimping out his 9-year-old son, and told him that he wanted to travel to D.C. to have sex with the boy. The man also sent the agent a video of “a prepubescent minor male being anally penetrated by an adult male’s erect penis.” His IP address led the FBI to Brogan Welsh of Glenn Allen, Virginia.

What appears to be a slam-dunk case against a child predator was abruptly abandoned just one month later.

“On January 6, 2021, FBI, Washington Field Office, [decided] this investigation was halted due to events that occurred at the United States Capitol Building that day,” .

The man was only arrested, and the court documents only filed, because Welsh moved to Alaska and crossed the Anchorage FBI’s radar in an unrelated perversion investigation. On October 24, 2023, after coming across troubling chats from Welsh on a phone they seized from a different alleged pervert, Alaska FBI agents went into his house and “located items including sex toys that are very small in size and apparently consistent with the body size of an approximate 10-year-old boy,” as well as children’s underwear.

“The investigation has revealed that a 10-year-old boy was, in fact, residing at the residence belonging to Welsh,” the agents wrote.

Utterly, utterly sickening. If I was that little boy’s father, I’d be seriously considering a little slam-dunk action of my own—something that most certainly wouldn’t involve cases, lawyers, or the judicial system. Well, except maybe after I was done.

When will The New York Times finally stop pulling punches and go after Donald Trump?

That’s the question Joe Biden’s campaign asked the media this week. “For the political press corp (sic) —especially our friends at the Gray Lady,” pleaded the White House, “it’s time to meet the moment and responsibly inform the electorate of what their lives might look like if the leading GOP candidate for president is allowed back in the WH.”

The New York Times is, indeed, a friend. It “meets the moment” all the time. So, no, Biden isn’t working the refs here. He’s demanding obedience. And the fact that the White House can brazenly petition a supposedly free press to join his campaign effort tells us a lot about how little the contemporary Democrat cares for a free press.

BZZZZT! Wrong, David; actually, they care a great deal about a “free press”—they hate the very idea of such a thing, and are neither afraid nor ashamed to do everything within their not-inconsiderable power to see that one never, ever comes into existence in Amerika v2.0.

Robert Spencer asks: How far will Biden regime wonks go in lying to the American people? A: Just as far as they think they need to. CORRECTION: It isn’t “wonks,” Robert; it’s “hacks.” Or, if you prefer something with more letters to ensure greater accuracy, “lowlife villainous knob-polishing wads of scum.”

The whole world has been watching for nearly three years now as Old Joe Biden grows progressively feebler. On Saturday, at the Veterans Day commemoration at Arlington National Cemetery, he appeared visibly confused and had to be told by a polite and deferential military officer to go stand beside alleged Vice President Kamala Harris.

That was just the latest in an ever-lengthening series of obvious signs that the putative Commander-In-Chief, who will be 81 years old in less than a week, is in the grip of a severe and likely irreversible mental and physical decline. On Aug. 31, NPR noted that Old Joe “has been avoiding climbing up the sometimes-wobbly 18-foot staircase that is trucked over to the plane’s upper door. More often than not, he is using a much shorter and sturdier set of stairs that fold out from the belly of the plane.”

But the problem wasn’t that the stairs were wobbly. The problem was that the rapidly deteriorating kleptocrat was too weak to navigate them: “Biden, 80, has stumbled on the tall stairs more than once. The short stairs have the distinct advantage of moving most of Biden’s ascent into Air Force One out of public view. But for those who have noticed the shift, it also draws attention to one of Biden’s greatest political liabilities as he seeks reelection: his age.”

Indeed. But now one of Old Joe’s wonks, Mitch Landrieu, a man who has the lofty title of “White House infrastructure coordinator,” is here to tell us not to believe our lying eyes.

Landrieu, whose grandfather must have been one of those guys who sold miracle patent medicine out of the back of a covered wagon and then high-tailed it out of town before anyone realized that it didn’t work, said:

For those of you that think the president might be too old or doesn’t have enough energy or whatever it is that you all think, This guy gets up early. He stays up late. We have made trips, if not every week, sometimes twice a week and three times a week. And we have done it over and over again and there’s nothing new here. What’s wonderful about it is how relentless that it is and how many places that we have been.

As if that weren’t laid on thick enough, Landrieu added: “The guy is, like, he’s a beast.”

Oh, he’s a beast for sure and certain. A lying, corrupt, senile, greedy, grubby, kiddy-diddling beast.

Church Militant

And not in the Dagger John Hughes sense, either. Not hardly. Quite the opposite, unfortunately.

Was St. Malachy Right?
These are hard times for conservative Catholics. For the past 60 years, they have had to watch their church gradually but steadily abandon many of its bedrock principles in what was at first an attempt to stay “relevant” but now looks very much a hostile takeover by the forces of relativistic “progressivism.” Under a series of weak and/or malicious popes, beginning with the unaccountably sainted John XXIII and continuing to the present day in the reign of the regrettable Pope Francis, the Church has abandoned its liturgy, its core beliefs, its traditions, its probity, and its sexual morality. Can things get worse? Of course they can.

Still, let us count the ways they already have hit bottom: During the Second Vatican Council between 1962 and 1965, much of the liturgy was “modernized,” starting with the traditional Latin Mass, called the Tridentine rite. No longer did the mass have to be universally celebrated in Latin, one of the faith’s two historic languages (the other is Greek); now it could be said in the local languages — a deliberate, disruptive balkanization of the faith that was in retrospect one of the first manifestations of the divisive “diversity” fetish that has taken hold in the West.

The priest, who formerly led his congregation by facing the elevated altar, now addressed the parishioners, thus making instant nonsense of his opening words, Introibo ad altare Dei — “I will go unto the altar of the Lord.” In the name of “ecumenicism,” distinctions between and among other faiths, including Judaism and rival Protestantism, were deliberately obscured. And the enormous library of sacred music, written over the centuries by some of the greatest composers, went onto the ash heap, to be replaced by mock-folk hymns sung by Peter, Paul and Mary imitators in order to get in synch with the folk-music revival of that period. It was all very current, now, hip, happening, and utterly awful.

Over the past couple of years, the first Jesuit pontiff, Jorge Bergoglio (an Argentine-born “progressive” Italian) has taken the strongest steps yet to outlaw the Latin Mass…

Last week the punitive primate fired a restive, rebellious American bishop for daring to challenge papal authority: “A statement from the Vatican posted online says ‘The Holy Father has removed Bishop Joseph E. Strickland from the pastoral care of the diocese of Tyler, United States of America.’ Replacing Strickland will be Bishop Joe Vásquez of Austin, according to the statement.”

Strickland, 65, has been publicly critical of Francis and the Vatican. He wrote an open letter in August suggesting the church’s “basic truths” would be challenged at a synod in September, and wrote that he believed an “evil and false message” had “invaded the church.” In another open letter the next month, Strickland addressed members of the LGBT community, particularly taking aim at trans people. “The transgender movement is another face of the LGBTQ agenda, and it is also at odds with the Catholic understanding of the human being,” he wrote in the letter.

It doesn’t help that Bergoglio is a Jesuit — a foundationally radical order that, according to Catholic insiders, has become a hotbed of homosexuality, which may account for this pope’s gay-adjacent theological preferences. Indeed, the Jesuits have distinguished themselves by their rampant apostasy during this parlous period for the Church. Their universities — Georgetown, Boston College, Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles, even Fordham — are among the most “progressive” in the nation, having largely abandoned their religious functions in favor of “diverse” secularism. Like Bergoglio, they’ve lost faith in their own faith — the end stage of any liberal enterprise.

None of this would come as a surprise to Malachy, the 12th-century bishop of Armagh and close confidant of Bernard of Clairvaux, the influential Benedictine abbot and one of the founders of the Knights Templar. While the canonicity of Malachy’s famous prophecies of the popes is roundly disputed (and I generally discount “prophecy” across the board), perhaps we should heed his words. The loss of faith at the top levels of the Church, the diminution of its adherents in the West — not to mention the weird rush to canonize the line of largely failed popes from John XXIII to John Paul II (strong on politics, weak on dogma), including the cipher, Paul VI — indicates an institution in serious trouble.

We might start with treating the Jesuits the way Pope Clement V did the Templars, dissolving the order and leaving them to the mercies of the French king, Philip IV, who executed their leaders in a grand auto-da-fe in 1314.

Not being Catholic myself, strictly speaking, I don’t feel myself qualified to offer much in the way of commentary or analysis. But for what it’s worth, I think Walsh just might be onto something there.
