Classroom Candid Camera

If we’re all gonna have to put up with a Surveillance State, why the hell should government-school “teachers” be exempt?

The far-left HuffPost is freaking over Tucker Carlson’s suggestion that cameras be placed in public school classrooms.

“Tucker Carlson Goes Full ‘1984’ With ‘Cameras In The Classroom’ Proposal,” screams the left-wing outlet’s headline.

“The Fox News personality suggested police-style body cameras to check on what every teacher is telling their students,” the sub-headline reads.

“Carlson, in a rant reminiscent of something from George Orwell’s classic dystopian novel ‘1984,’” author Lee Moran bleats, “called the teaching that racism is at least partly systemic…  a ‘civilization-ending poison’ and ‘B.S.’”

Before we go any further… I’ve read 1984 at least three times and am unfamiliar with anything Tucker said that is “reminiscent of something from George Orwell’s classic dystopian novel[.]”

In fact, Tucker’s suggestion is the exact opposite of “something from George Orwell’s classic dystopian novel[.]” Tucker is suggesting we monitor the government. 1984 is about (among other things) the government monitoring private citizens. So Moran got his metaphor exactly wrong, which tells me he’s probably a product of government-run public schools.

Regardless, he huffs on, “He warned ‘we can’t really be sure’ how far it is being spread until ‘we finally get cameras in the classroom, as we put them on the chests of police officers.’”

What I found interesting about this piece is that other than screaming 1984!!!, no case or argument is made against the idea of cameras in government-run public school classrooms.

Is there one?

Perhaps there is—or there was, years ago, before we found ourselves saddled with Surveillance State cams on every street corner, satellites reading our license plates and recording our every movement from orbit, and a FederalGovCo spy skulking around every corner—but we failed to make it, and now it’s way too late. Be that as it may, the very government-school propagandists responsible for brainwashing American kids into turning on both their parents and the country of their birth are uniquely unqualified to make it. I’m a hunnert and ten percent with Nolte on this:

The real issue here is just how brazenly public school teachers have become when it comes to teaching our kids pretty much everything but what they need to know. Leftists are never happier than when they’ve insinuated themselves between parent and child. Too many schools can’t teach kids to read or write, but they are sure teaching them to hate their country and all about “demi-sexuality.”

Tucker’s smart to bring this up, to make it part of the national conversation. Teachers and their evil unions are going to have a hard time explaining why they oppose such a thing. They will be on defense, which is exactly where they belong.

Goddamn them all for not just sticking to reading, writing, adding, and subtracting.

Okay, make that a hunnert and fifty percent.

Privilege is…

Not what we’re being told. Not. At. ALL.

Privilege is wearing $300 sneakers when you’ve never had a job. Privilege is wearing $200 Apple Airpods while living on public assistance. Privilege is having a Smartphone with a Data plan which you receive no bill for. Privilege is living in public subsidized housing where you don’t have a utility bill and where rising property taxes and rents and energy costs have absolutely no effect on the amount of food you can put on your table. Privilege is having free health insurance for you and your family that’s paid for by working people who can’t afford health insurance for their families. Privilege is having multiple national organizations promoting and protecting your race that’s subsidized by federal tax dollars. Privilege is having access to a national college fund that supports only your race. Privilege is having a television network that supports only your race. Privilege is the ability to go march against, and protest against anything that triggers you, without worrying about calling out of work and the consequences that accompany such. Privilege is having as many children as you want, regardless of your employment status, and be able to send them off to daycare or school you don’t pay for. Still waiting for this “privilege” I’m supposed to have…

According to Nemo, this was a commenter response to a racist Tweet from DC twat Muriel “Bow-wow” Bowser. I’d call it a real howler, but maybe that’s a bad-joke bridge too far even for me.

When they made him, they broke the mold

Although I don’t pay a lot of attention to boxing nowadays, back when I did George Foreman was always tops with me. No, he was never much for fancy footwork, finesse, or the more subtle aspects of the Sweet Science. Even in his heyday, a more well-rounded, agile pugilist like Mohammed Ali could run rings around old George, and literally did sometimes.

But that hardly means Foreman didn’t know exactly what he was doing in the squared circle. George was well aware that if he could just hang in there until the opportunity arose to land just one of those cinder-block hands of his in exactly the right spot, his opponent would be going down like a bag of wet sand, regardless of who that opponent might have been. Foreman’s victims may have danced their way into the ring, all right. But an awful lot of them would wind up being carried out, with their glassy, vacant eyes rolling around in their heads like pinballs. Some of the fighters put down by a Foreman brick claim that you never really get over one of those earthquake haymakers; in one way or another, the effects stay with you for life. I don’t doubt it, not one bit.

Ali, Evander, Sugar Ray, Marvelous Marvin Hagler, Larry “You so damn ugly” Holmes, Thomas Hearns, Boom Boom Mancini, De La Hoya—I liked ’em all. But I always loved George Foreman best, and I still do. I mean, how could you not?

Boxing legend George Foreman said Sunday that he’s been pressured to stop publicly saying that he loves the United States, but will continue to do so, anyway.
“For about 54 years, people have ask me not to keep saying ‘I love America,’” Foreman posted to Twitter on Independence Day.

“Well I do and I’m not ashamed,” he wrote. “Don’t leave it; Love it.”

“Happy 4th of July,” Foreman closed the succinct post.

The former boxer used the message to caption a photo of himself with his eyes and holding the American flag after taking gold for our nation at the 1968 Olympic Games.

The post quickly went viral, racking up nearly 85,000 likes by Monday.

Here’s the Tweet:

What a breath of fresh air, a most welcome change from the usual run of things with today’s repellent crop of professional athletes. May God bless and keep you, George.

“Suffer Not the Communist”

Gerard expertly channels Kipling.

All we have of freedom, all we use or know—
This our fathers bought for us long and long ago.

Ancient Right unnoticed as the breath we draw—
Leave to live by no man’s leave, underneath the Law.

Lance and torch and tumult, steel and grey-goose wing
Wrenched it, inch and ell and all, from the Communist.

Till our fathers ‘stablished, after bloody years,
How our Communist is one with us, first among his peers.

So they bought us freedom—not at little cost
Wherefore must we kill the Communist, lest our gain be lost,

Over all things certain, this is sure indeed,
Suffer not the Communist: for we know the breed.

Amen. Read it all; it only gets more powerful from there. Gerard, although it’s decent and honorable of you to offer an apology to the peerless Rudyard Kipling, I see no need for it. I’m sure that wherever he may be, the shade of Kipling is smiling and nodding his head at this in full agreement. Fantastic job, my friend.

(Via WRSA)

Update! In case you didn’t already know, the Kipling poem GVDL was working from is The Old Issue, which near the end includes this deathless stanza: All the right they promise—all the wrong they bring. Sheesh. It would seem that, even back in 1899, Kipling knew his Commies pretty damned well, no? The man wasn’t just one of the most gifted writers Western Civ ever has or ever will produce; from this, it appears he was a prophet as well.

Spade=spade

Ted Cruz, bless his heart, pours it straight up. No ice, no chaser, no water back.

Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz called Joe Biden a “crazy, lunatic leftist” and said the Democrats have become the party of “criminals, murderers, rapists, and child molesters.

“Well, I will say it’s been dramatic just how quickly Joe Biden and Kamala Harris lurched to the left. I mean, almost from the opening day of the administration,” Cruz told Fox News host Jesse Watters.

“They made the decision to hand control of the Democratic Party over to the radical extreme and so the policy agenda is being driven by Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren and AOC and we are seeing an absolute disaster on every front,” he added.

“You went through and crying. When the radicals who advocate abolishing the police become two of the senior officials in the Biden department of justice, that shows they’ve given into the crazy left on the border. When you hand control of border control policy over to the radicals who want open borders and don’t want the laws in force, you create a border crisis that puts us on a path to have over 2 million people cross illegally,” he added.

Cruz then really tore into Biden and the Democrats radical policies.

And he did that thing, too. He damned sure did. Read it all; it’s a real hoot, I promise you.

The greatest meme of all time!

Ye Olde Intrepide Reporter has it.

TeaBagDotGov.jpg

Kinda says it all, don’t it?

Oh, and speaking of Expat, he just got canned from his job, so could probably do with a little help. The generosity of you CF Lifers has always humbled and amazed me, so if any of you rapscallions can send a shekel or two his way I’m sure it would be hugely appreciated.

Peculiarities and odds bodkins

Burned a CD today for a girl I know to listen to in the car, consisting of some fairly obscure 50s RAB and R&B tracks. After playing it for my too-rapidly-maturing daughter (she’s in a training bra now? RUFKM?!? How the hell did THAT happen?) on the way back from picking her up earlier today, it hit me what a solid-gold mix this collection is. It’s been a while since I gave any of these tunes a listen; fact is, I had just about forgotten I even had ’em in the first place. It’s a mistake I don’t think I’m likely to be making again.

My rediscovery of these neglected favorites inspired me to check YouToob for ’em so as to share ’em here, although I didn’t have high hopes of finding them, there or anyplace else online. I mean, why would they be available on the Innarnuts, really? Rockabilly was never hugely popular its first time around, although admittedly it’s stood the test of time quite well. In fact, it’s almost certainly way more popular than it ever was back then. Despite that, though, the songs I was looking to unearth would amount to obscurity squared, so far underground that they were buried at a level far below the one where their underground genre was planted.

Imagine my surprise and delight, then, when I scored on the very first try, with The Moonlighters’ sizzling “Rock-A-Bayou Baby.”

This rockin’ and ravin’ Texas outfit is not to be confused with the far-more-famous Hank Ballard and the Midnighters, natch, who churned out hit after hit in the same pop-music era. Just thought I’d mention that, apropos of not much.

“Rock-A-Bayou Baby” is a graduate-level edjumacation in what it is that makes rockabilly truly “nature’s perfect music,” as my old friend and columnist for the P-burgh Tribune Mike Seate quipped in a BP’s review that still makes me blush a little bit. Mike had the right of it, too.

If it was possible to boil the whole RAB style down to a single word (it isn’t), that word would have to be frenzy. The thumping, humping slap bass; the slashing, clawing, primitive guitar attack; the feral howls, snarls, and yelps from the singer—these are all no more than typical of well-executed rockabilly, both then and now. The best rockabilly is like that: raucous, ferocious, untamed and untamable. Whatever rockabilly might lack in music-school technique and finesse it more than makes up for with triple-decker dollops of passion and intensity. The appeal is no doubt lost on most—I’ve always considered it a miracle that many if not most of the early RAB tracks were even recorded at all, much less pressed and released—but for the cats ‘n’ kittens who dig this stuff, there really isn’t anything else that comes close.

Another good example of what I’m talking ’bout:

“Love Me” is a lot better-known both in and out of rockabilly circles than “RockA-Bayou Baby” is, probably due to the Cramps covering it for one of their early singles, a version also included on the 1983 Off The Bone compilation. The blurb from the guy who posted the Phantom original on the ‘Toob says it well: Chaotic wonder by Jerry Lott a.k.a The Phantom, fun, furious, essential!!! Pretty much. “Chaotic wonder” nails it down clean and tight, if you ask me.

Okay, let’s try and dig up one more of these crazy diamonds on YT, shall we?

Searching…searching…

Okay, no way. I really can’t believe this.

This one is the aural analog to the famous “chicken” scene from Rebel Without A Cause, or maybe the “Paradise Road” drag-race scene from American Graffiti. Especially the end, when Harrison Ford dumps that Bowtie POS hard.

Anyhoo, there you have it: some hellraisin’, off the chain buck-wildness, from the most off the chain, buck-wildest musical genre there ever has been. Though it will surely sound odd to ears accustomed to modern popular music, it’s bound to grab at least some of you folks, or so I hope. And with that, I think I need to create a few sub-categories under our “Twangin’ and Bangin'” catch-all, maybe. T and B is getting kinda crowded, with a diversity of musical styles all tossed in together. A bit more specificity in there might come in handy someday, I think.

Lots of sidesplitting responses to Crazy Joe Nukem’s ill-advised threat available for perusal at Alex Jones’s joint, my personal fave of which might be this one:

This one makes the point pretty bluntly:

Aww, to heck with it; just go check out the whole collection.

Response to Grima Wormtongue, Mouth Of Sauron

Wherein I demonstrate for y’all the difficulty I’ve mentioned in trying to excerpt Wilder without just lifting the whole danged post.

Lincoln was wrong about a lot of things. He was right about a lot of things, too. He is correct about this:

“As a nation of free men, we will live forever or die by suicide.”

Joe Biden could have the armies of the united States get him a drink by force from any river in this land. But Joe Biden and all the armies of the united States couldn’t hold the length of the Missouri or the Mississippi for a single day by force.

The armies of the united States number some 1.3 million men oh, wait people oh, wait, xim/xers. Add in the Reserves? Let’s round WAY UP and call it three million. Total.

Actually, I seem to recollect seeing someplace recently that the 1.3 million number was inclusive of 800,000 reservists already, but I could be wrong (and am; see below). Doesn’t really matter either way, John’s larger point stands.

There are three million males in Missouri. I pick Missouri only because they recently decided they’re going to tell the Feds to attempt to compact a very large object into a very small space when it comes to firearm laws.

Go Missouri.

Not all of the three million males in Missouri would be on the side of freedom, since there are always some disgusting gelatinous slugs of humanity that will side with Evil over Truth. But there are enough. And don’t tell me that neighboring states wouldn’t flow in.

No, Mr. Biden. The only one who needs F-15s and nuclear weapons for control is you, you disgusting pile of fake hair, fake teeth, Alzheimer’s degraded brain, who gets his only Father’s Day card encrusted in cocaine dust and whore DNA.

The united States governs only, let me make this clear, only by consent of the governed. As citizens, we’re generally pretty good. But we are horrible, horrible at taking instruction from tyrants. It’s in our DNA.

No, literally. This is not an exaggeration. My family line came across an ocean to tame a continent. That was their resume. That was their job description as they rocked back and forth on little wooden boats in the midst of Atlantic storms. We didn’t come here because we were weak. We came here to fight and die and bleed and make this land our own.

We came here because we were strong.

We came here because we yearned for freedom.

Mr. Biden, your butt-sniffing and shoe-licking parents and your degenerate sons and personal weaknesses are abhorrent to every fiber of my body. Mr. Biden, you are disgusting. Mr. Biden, your forefathers were horrible. Mr. Biden, you and your weaknesses represent everything wrong with this country, and everything that has led to where we are today.

How dare you threaten me?

A. Fucking. MEN.

You guys will see what I mean about that hard-excerpt business when you click over and check out the rest. The above passage, delightful as it is, is no more than just Wilder loosening up the ol’ typing fingers before getting down to business for reals—this most righteous blast only gets MUCH more righteously blasty from there, to finish up by nuking Senile Grampy Gropey’s vacant skull from orbit…just to be sure.

SIDE NOTE: I checked up, and John’s numbers are correct.

The U.S. Armed Forces is the world’s third largest military by active personnel, after the Chinese’s People’s Liberation Army and the Indian Armed Forces, consisting of 1,359,685 servicemembers in the regular armed forces with an additional 799,845 servicemembers in the reserves as of 28 February 2019.

So there you have it. As I said, it’s all hairsplitting anyway, and doesn’t undercut John’s overall point in any way.

Addressing the biggest issue of all

The Republic of Florida, anyone?

The Right Scoop has the, um, right of it:

This is how you fight back. Not only did he ban the ridiculous CRT curriculum from the classrooms, he’s now mandating that high school students learn the evils of these anti-American ideologies that people escape from to come here. This is brilliant. And as an added bonus, this will no doubt drive the left insane.

I’m having a really tough time finding something not to like here, frankly. And with each successive perfect move America’s Gov makes, I’m also hoping that he does NOT attempt a run for President, in 2024 or any other year. We need this man right where he is—he fights.

Different strokes

Heard tonight’s Tune Damage number on the car radio the other day. I’d forgotten how much I loved it, and have been singing it to (okay, at) the young ‘un ever since. She thinks Daddy is just too, too funny.

Joan Jett had a hit herself with a perfectly creditable cover of this one years ago, which I have no gripe at all with. But for me, there just ain’t no substitute for the original, baby.

Sly and the Family Stone was one of those genuinely innovative American outfits whose influence was wide, deep, and lasting. Wiki backgrounder:

Sly and the Family Stone was an American band from San Francisco. Active from 1966 to 1983, it was pivotal in the development of funk, soul, rock, and psychedelic music. Its core line-up was led by singer-songwriter, record producer, and multi-instrumentalist Sly Stone, and included Stone’s brother and singer/guitarist Freddie Stone, sister and singer/keyboardist Rose Stone, trumpeter Cynthia Robinson, drummer Greg Errico, saxophonist Jerry Martini, and bassist Larry Graham. It was the first major American rock group to have a racially integrated, male and female lineup.

Formed in 1966, the group’s music synthesized a variety of disparate musical genres to help pioneer the emerging “psychedelic soul” sound. They released a series of Top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hits such as “Dance to the Music” (1968), “Everyday People” (1968), and “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)” (1969), as well as critically acclaimed albums such as Stand! (1969), which combined pop sensibility with social commentary. In the 1970s, it transitioned into a darker and less commercial funk sound on releases such as There’s a Riot Goin’ On (1971) and Fresh (1973), proving as influential as their early work. By 1975, drug problems and interpersonal clashes led to dissolution, though Sly continued to record and tour with a new rotating lineup under the name “Sly and the Family Stone” until drug problems forced his effective retirement in 1987.

The work of Sly and the Family Stone greatly influenced the sound of subsequent American funk, pop, soul, R&B, and hip hop music. Music critic Joel Selvin wrote, “there are two types of black music: black music before Sly Stone, and black music after Sly Stone”. In 2010, they were ranked 43rd in Rolling Stone‘s 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, and three of their albums are included on Rolling Stone‘s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.

…On August 16, 2011, the album I’m Back! Family & Friends was released. The album features re-recorded versions of Sly and the Family Stone’s greatest hits with guest appearances from Jeff Beck, Ray Manzarek, Bootsy Collins, Ann Wilson, Carmine Appice, and Johnny Winter, as well as three previously unreleased songs.

One month later, on September 25, 2011, the New York Post reported that Sly Stone was now homeless and living out of a white camper-van in Los Angeles: “The van is parked on a residential street in Crenshaw, the rough Los Angeles neighborhood where ‘Boyz n the Hood’ was set. A retired couple makes sure he eats once a day, and Stone showers at their house.”

Sad for sure, but again, hardly unheard of in the biz. As with pretty much every young American band from the hippie-dippie 70s era, their music suffered somewhat from the intrusion of politics and Leftist ideology. Nonetheless, they did some remarkable work, uncorking a long string of solid hits until Sly’s dismal crash-n-burn, dragging a stellar career into a depressing trainwreck. Frankly, I was kinda surprised to learn that he hadn’t died years ago.

Do we miss Trump yet?

Let me count the ways.

House Democrats get targeted in surveillance operation made legal through laws they voted for

I love this story already.

Democrat House Intelligence Committee members, Rep. Eric Swalwell and Rep. Adam Schiff confirmed that Trump’s DOJ secretly monitored them by obtaining their personal data from Apple, between 2017 and 2018 when the committee was investigating whether Russia helped Trump win the 2016 presidential election.

As reported by the New York Times, as part of a leak investigation in the early days of Trump’s era, it emerged that the DOJ subpoenaed Apple and got the metadata (not actual content) of several members of the House Intelligence Committee, as well as their aides and family members.

Schiff and Swalwell appeared on CNN to discuss the issue, which Schiff, who is currently the chairman of the committee, described as “a body blow to our democracy” and a “fishing expedition.” They were both notified of the privacy violation last month.

Yeah, fuck you suppurating pustules. In the liver, with a rusty railroad spike, until both of you excrescences are dead, dead, DEAD. Slowly, so as to maximize your suffering for every Real American to enjoy.

Speaking to CNN’s Don Lemon, Swalwell said that they and their family members “were targeted punitively — not for any reason in law, but because Donald Trump identified Chairman Schiff and members of the committee as an enemy.”

He added that the subpoenas served to Apple went with gag orders, and “were renewed a number of times, and, thankfully, it looks like [the Biden administration] did not renew it.”

Swalwell continued to say: “The matter’s closed. And of course it’s closed, because we did nothing but our jobs, and we followed the rules we were supposed to follow in our investigation that showed that Donald Trump and his team sought to have assistance from Russia.”

Your precious little “investigation” showed nothing of the sort, you despicable liar. And you damned well know it, because there was no “there” there. So why don’t you just shut your fat yap and ooze on back into the sack with your Chinese Mata Hari, you goddamned treasonous cur.

An invidious comparison

We resemble these remarks. Which makes this the saddest story you’ll ever read.

‘Even North Korea is not this nuts’: Defector slams ‘woke’ US schools
A North Korean defector said she viewed the US as country of free thought and free speech – until she went to college here.

Yeonmi Park attended Columbia University and was immediately struck by what she viewed anti-Western sentiment in the classroom and a focus on political correctness that had her thinking “even North Korea isn’t this nuts.”

“I expected that I was paying this fortune, all this time and energy, to learn how to think. But they are forcing you to think the way they want you to think,” Park told Fox News. “I realized, wow, this is insane. I thought America was different but I saw so many similarities to what I saw in North Korea that I started worrying.”

“I literally crossed the Gobi Desert to be free and I realized I’m not free, America’s not free,” she said.

Park said North Korea students were constantly informed about the “American Bastard.”

“I thought North Koreans were the only people who hated Americans, but turns out there are a lot of people hating this country in this country,” she told The Post.

Some pundits out there scoff at the idea that the nationhood of America That Was was built around certain values and ideals, preferring blood-and-soil nativism as the only conceptual framework that can ever be truly relevant. By their lights, someone like Park can never really be genuinely American, in any meaningful sense.

It’s codswallop. As far as I’m concerned, this fine young woman is way more American than any Democrat or shitlib will ever be, or in truth would want to be. What she says here is no more than the plain truth, coming from someone who certainly would know. It’s greatly to her credit that she’s courageous enough to tell it, however much it hurts.

MONSTER ON THE LOOSE

Further deets on soon-to-be-legendary Belgian NCO Jürgen Conings.

Facebook has shut down a page gathering support for Jürgen Conings, the heavily armed extremist soldier who has been on the run for more than a week in Belgium.

The “Als 1 achter Jürgen”, or “all as 1 behind Jürgen”, page was taken down by the social media platform on Tuesday after receiving the support of some 50,000 people in less than a week.

“We removed this group because it violated our policy regarding dangerous individuals and organisations,” said a Facebook spokesman.

The Belgian authorities are worried about the level of support for Corporal Conings, after three marches and vigils over the last four days for the anti-lockdown, far-right elite soldier.

Vice-Admiral Michel Hofman, Belgium’s commander-in-chief, has written to all his country’s military warning there is no room for ideologies “fundamentally contrary to the values that we defend and the oath we have taken”.

“I regret that Conings is portrayed by some as a victim, resistance fighter or hero. He certainly is not,” he said.

Speak for yourself, pal. He certainly is to me. And quite a few others as well, looks like.

Conings is on the run armed with a handgun and an FN P90 sub-machinegun, used by special forces for close defensive combat and designed to pierce bullet-proof armour.

During his flight last week, he abandoned four anti-tank rocket launchers in his car, which is thought to have been booby trapped with hand grenades.

Note ye well that Conings has been uniformly described as “heavily armed” in all of the few reports The Power has deigned to allow so far. Clearly, the Gatekeepers haven’t the slightest idea of what a P90 is.

FNP90-shorty.jpeg

Cute little bugger, ain’t she? That long, skinny rectangle laying front-to-rear up top is the magazine, in case you aren’t familiar with this unique little subgun. I had the pleasure of shooting one when they first came out over here, brought to the Knob Creek Shoot by a FN rep. It was pretty neat, definitely. But it noway nohow qualifies as “heavily armed” if this is all Conings is carrying. Which, given what we already know about Enemedia’s integrity and competence, I kinda doubt. Neat as it is, any sniper would know better than to go out a-hunting packing only that little bit of heat along. Why, it would be like launching an insurrection in the very heart of Mordor On The Potomac and forgetting to bring any guns.

More glad tidings; bear in mind, though, that all this stuff is a cpl-three weeks old.

“The judicial investigation shows that the man has prepared all this,” explains Minister of Justice Vincent Van Quickenborne (Open Vld). “He has been preparing for his action for days, and it turns out that he was effectively close to a target on Monday evening and stayed there for more than two hours,” it said. Several reliable sources confirm to VTM Nieuws that Jürgen Conings was seen that evening at the house of virologist Marc Van Ranst.

“Days.” Uh huh.

Investigation into Conings’ car, which was found Tuesday in the forest in Dilsen-Stokkem, has revealed a “suspicious mechanism”, the prosecution said. “We are still awaiting the technical report from the DOVO service on its possible elaboration,” he says. “The car was booby-tramped, with war ammunition on board, with the intention of making victims,” says Van Quickenborne. “This is indeed a very dangerous man.”

The sweeping started on Thursday afternoon after a display of power by the police and the army, which were numerous. About 400 Belgian troops were deployed, 150 of which from Defense and 250 from the police. The various police services and army units searched a perimeter of no less than 20 kilometers in circumference. Meter per meter. Foreign troops were also massively present in Limburg, in addition to Belgian units of DOVO and special forces.

The suspect Jürgen Conings (46) is a professional soldier from Dilsen-Stokkem who is active in the barracks of Leopoldsburg and earlier in that of Peutie. He was already on the radar of OCAD as a far right, in the category “potentially violent extremist”. The military intelligence service ADIV would also have been aware of his sympathies. Conings also received a disciplinary sentence from the defense for his right-wing extremist ideology. In the meantime, the public prosecutor’s office has also issued an investigation report.

The professional soldier’s curriculum vitae shows that he is a sniper with years of combat experience in a war zone. He was there on missions in Yugoslavia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Lebanon, Iraq and Afghanistan. The man is a welder by training and also works in the army repair department. As a member of the pre-deployment training cell in Leopoldsburg, he prepares soldiers for a foreign assignment. In that capacity, he also had access to the ammunition depot.

A source at Defense sums it up: “He’s one of those people you don’t want to be an enemy.”

And yet your government, in its impervious arrogance, did exactly that anyway.

Another thing I’m enjoying is how, in addition to insisting that he NOT be regarded as a hero—which, I repeat, I damned sure do—is the branding of Conings as a “terrorist” instead. Guess all those Lefty EUroweenies forgot about their own favored-when-convenient view that “one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter,” eh?

Tonight’s Tune Damage is pretty much a no-brainer, I think.

Management is under no obligation whatever to allow the comments section to be taken over and ruined by trolls, Leftists, and/or other oxygen thieves, and will take any measures deemed necessary to prevent such. Conduct yourself with the merest modicum of decorum, courtesy, and respect and you'll be fine. Pick pointless squabbles with other commenters, fling provocative personal insults, issue threats, or annoy the host (me) and...you won't.

Should you find yourself sanctioned after running afoul of the CF comments policy as stated and feel you have been wronged, please download and complete the Butthurt Report form below in quadruplicate; retain one copy for your personal records and send the others to the email address posted in the right sidebar.

Please refrain from whining, sniveling, and/or bursting into tears and waving your chubby fists around in frustrated rage, lest you suffer an aneurysm or stroke unnecessarily. Your completed form will be reviewed and your complaint addressed whenever management feels like getting around to it. Thank you.

FREEDOM!!!

"There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters."
—Daniel Webster

“When I was young I was depressed all the time. But suicide no longer seemed a possibility in my life. At my age there was very little left to kill.”
—Charles Bukowski

“A slave is one who waits for someone to come and free him.”

“The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it’s profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.”
—Frank Zappa

“The right of a nation to kill a tyrant in case of necessity can no more be doubted than to hang a robber, or kill a flea.”

"It is terrible to contemplate how few politicians are hanged."
—GK Chesterton

"I predict that the Bush administration will be seen by freedom-wishing Americans a generation or two hence as the hinge on the cell door locking up our freedom. When my children are my age, they will not be free in any recognizably traditional American meaning of the word. I’d tell them to emigrate, but there’s nowhere left to go. I am left with nauseating near-conviction that I am a member of the last generation in the history of the world that is minimally truly free."
—Donald Sensing

"The only way to live free is to live unobserved."
—Etienne de la Boiete

"History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid."
—Dwight D. Eisenhower

"To put it simply, the Left is the stupid and the insane, led by the evil. You can’t persuade the stupid or the insane and you had damn well better fight the evil."
—Skeptic

"There is no better way to stamp your power on people than through the dead hand of bureaucracy. You cannot reason with paperwork."
—David Black, from Turn Left For Gibraltar

"If the laws of God and men, are therefore of no effect, when the magistracy is left at liberty to break them; and if the lusts of those who are too strong for the tribunals of justice, cannot be otherwise restrained than by sedition, tumults and war, those seditions, tumults and wars, are justified by the laws of God and man."
—John Adams

"The limits of tyranny are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress."
—Frederick Douglass

"Give me the media and I will make of any nation a herd of swine."
—Joseph Goebbels

“I hope we once again have reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited. There’s a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: As government expands, liberty contracts.”
—Ronald Reagan

"Ain't no misunderstanding this war. They want to rule us and aim to do it. We aim not to allow it. All there is to it."
—NC Reed, from Parno's Peril

"I just want a government that fits in the box it originally came in."
—Bill Whittle
