American apocalypse

Riders on the storm.

Lately, I have found myself turning to the Book of Revelations, written by the Apostle John and transmitted to the world in the first century A.D. Everyone is familiar with the vision of the four horsemen in Rev. 6:1-8, where they appear with the opening of the first four of the seven seals that bring forth the cataclysm of the end times.

In our “time and setting,” one might think that we are witnessing the last days of the American Republic, following massive electoral fraud, the suppression of facts by the media, the ubiquitous practice of censorship by the tech platforms, and the (so far) pusillanimous refusal of the courts to rectify the greatest electoral scandal, by several orders of magnitude, since the defeat of Andrew Jackson in the “corrupt bargain” of 1824.

Given the cultural forces that have been at work undermining the joists and beams of the nation, the impending calamity comes as no surprise. The four horsemen are riding again, and their names are Feminism, Climate, COVID-19, and the Democratic Party.

I cannot pronounce on the tenets of any specific communion, but I do believe that without faith in the transcendent, however mysterious and elusive, and without holding to a morality based on the values of truth and courage, then in consequence “whatsoever worketh abomination” (Revelations 21:27) will wreak destruction upon a people and a nation.

The four horsemen of the American Apocalypse are riding hard and, in the absence of popular conviction and institutional integrity, the sequel will not be in doubt. In Holman Hunt’s celebrated painting The Light of the World, based on Revelations 3:20 and representing Christ standing before a closed door, it is instructive to note that the door has no handle and can be opened only by the dweller inside. The religious symbolism is obvious and is elaborately explained in Jeremy Maas’ Holman Hunt and the Light of the World, but in our context, the message is that the citizens of the country and the courts within have been called to open the door and let in the light of truth. The fate of the Republic hangs in the balance.

Looks like that fate has today been officially sealed.

Washington — The Supreme Court on Friday rebuffed a last-ditch attempt by Texas to block electors from four battleground states — all of which backed President-elect Joe Biden — from voting in the Electoral College, delivering a fatal blow to President Trump and his allies in their quest to overturn the results of the presidential election.

The high court refused to take up the lawsuit filed Monday by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton that took aim at the election results in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia and Wisconsin.

“Texas has not demonstrated a judicially cognizable interest in the manner in which another State conducts its elections. All other pending motions are dismissed as moot,” the court said in an unsigned order.

But Justice Samuel Alito, joined by Justice Clarence Thomas, said the court does “not have discretion to deny the filing of a bill of complaint in a case that falls within our original jurisdiction. I would therefore grant the motion to file the bill of complaint but would not grant other relief, and I express no view on any other issue.”

Ace sums up the grim tidings.

The ultimate Friday Night News Dump: The Constitution is repealed; America is no longer a democratic republic.

“Standing” is a doctrine without much rigor. Judges find standing when they want to take a case, and don’t find it when they want to bury a case.

Yes, that’s true: The Court has no discretion to not take the case. The Constitution says they must take it.

But whatever, I guess the Constitution is a tax now or something.

Well, no. It remains the sad, spindly parody of itself it was long ago incrementally reduced to, over many years of painstaking and deliberate effort by the Left: a total irrelevancy, a meaningless document stripped of any but purely historical interest, bearing no relationship whatsoever to the governance and “law” of this contemptible joke of a banana republic.

The Democrat-Socialists and the evil Left should have been stopped dead in their tracks well before their lengthy campaign of treasonous destruction had advanced to this extreme. Because of our reluctance to recognize the enemy and engage him, there are no good choices left to us. Ironically, the torpor of ordinary Americans—thoroughly conciliatory people whose only wish was to be left alone to live their lives in peace by the tyrannical Left—has made the very war they so desperately hoped to forestall unavoidable.

So be it then. The last die has been thrown, the final hand dealt. Whether out of cowardice or corruption, the so-called “Supreme” Court chose to traduce their oaths with today’s outrageous transgression against sober jurisprudence. With that betrayal, there now remains but one course of action left for Team Liberty: fight or die.

Lock and load, folks; the battle for the tatterdemalion scraps of freedom and dignity we still enjoy is shortly to be joined, for real and for keeps. We are about to learn just how many Americans remain truly American. May enough of us prove worthy of our proud, noble heritage to turn the dismal tide at last.

Update! Build back better.

“The Supreme Court, in tossing the Texas lawsuit that was joined by seventeen states and 106 US congressman, have decreed that a state can take unconstitutional actions and violate its own election law,” Texas GOP chairman Allen West said in a statement, “resulting in damaging effects on other states that abide by the law, while the guilty state suffers no consequences. This decision establishes a precedent that says states can violate the U.S. constitution and not be held accountable. This decision will have far-reaching ramifications for the future of our constitutional republic.”

The “constitutional republic” HAS no future; it’s long been dead, and today the last spade of earth was shoveled onto its grave.

West also suggested that “law-abiding” states should “bond together and form a Union of states that will abide by the constitution.”

A capital idea, one I support wholeheartedly. But that new Union had damned well better make building the ability to defend effectively against all-out military attack by Progtardistan a top priority, right from the git-go. Otherwise, Freedomlandia’s survival will be measurable in weeks, months at the outside. Rest assured that such a war of conquest seeking the re-subjugation of the breakaway nation’s citizenry is more than a mere “possibility” or “concern”; it is an absolute certainty—a matter not of if but of when.

Let them take arms update! Aesop draws a line under it.

With this dismissal, the Supreme Court of the United States has just ruled that the Constitution of the United States no longer has jurisdiction over the United States. In so doing, they have also self-deligitimized any jurisdiction they formerly possessed.

The only answer to that has to start with gunfire, and end with nooses.

Conduct yourselves appropriately. The entire social contract is therefore dissolved.

If you swore an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that bill has just come due. The government of the United States has now entered into a state of war with its own people.

If there is no Constitution, there is no law, no republic, and no allegiance due to any authority constituted under it and subservient to it. That includes the national government, and every former US state and territory. At the stroke of a pen, they have all become pretenders.

The time for talking has ended. Come as you are.

May God have mercy on my enemies, for I shall have none.

Earlier, he also speculated on some potential opening gambits.

If a few cubic yards of concrete accidentally get poured into an underground vault, you ain’t repairing that for some time.

The same is true if you weld manhole covers and service plates to their rings.

If you shoot the boss, they can replace him in 15 minutes. If you hit the truck with the tools and supplies, that takes days to weeks to replace. But if you take out the guys who fix the stuff, they take months to years to replace. And the other ones don’t want to show up for work either, afterwards.

BLM and Antifa already have a rep for burning things, and trying to derail trains. They should get 100% credit for anything like that going forward, forever.

If someone shoots a guy driving a truck, there’s a body. But if someone drops a letter off with pictures of his kids at school, and he decides maybe he ought to call in sick, there’s no body, and little to follow up on. (One might even have the envelope delivered at a truck stop, and suggest he uncouple, and return home without his load.) Same result.

A train track missing a rail on the outside of a medium curve will usually derail a train. (With modern rails, you have to bridge the contact between the section with wire or something, which BLM has figured out, per recent news reports.)
If that derailment happens to interfere with a major industrial plant, arterial roadway, etc., that’s a two-fer.

This is the same reason military manuals recommend dropping tall objects (trees, towers, smokestacks) over roadways, bridges, and power transmission lines. Half the effort, twice the result.

A great many more at the link, and more yet in the comments. Our would-be masters know not what they’ve done, methinks. But they went ahead and did it anyhow, so may they have as rough a ride as can be imagined from here on out.

Trust: who do ya?

Not them. Not ever.

In the case of the vaccine, there is no reason at all to trust the government. They have simply lied too often about too many aspects of this virus. Compounding it is their communications organs have been staffed by demented sociopaths who lie for the sheer pleasure of it. The only way anyone we could trust the media is if they are the first to be inoculated. Even then, it would probably be a fake vaccine, so we would need some way to ensure they are getting the real jab and not a fake.

This is why the vaccine will be mandatory. Another aspect of liberal democracy is the rulers respond to well-founded distrust of them with coercion. In this case, we will be getting the Orwellian freedom passes. In the U.S. they will have some bland bureaucratic name because our managerial elite is functionally illiterate, but the Brits retain their pithiness, despite it all. As a result, these new internal passports proving you are up to date on your Covid jabs will be used to compel compliance.

What does this mean as a practical matter? What they are plotting is a system where everyone is issued an innocuous looking card with a vaccine stamp and date. When you get your booster shot, you get a new stamp with an expiry date. Oh, you are unaware of the regular booster shots required? You see? This is why this vaccine is a miracle. It will require you to give Big Pharma a check several times a year. Your doctor at Acme Hospital System Inc. will also be getting her beak wet.

If you think you can just blow this off, think again. For starters, there will be a massive public relations campaign to shame skeptics. Old people will be shown lining up for the jab and famous people will demand you get the jab. Soon, private business will demand proof of the jab before they accept you as a customer. Want to fly on a commercial airline or ride public transport? Papers please. Want to attend a public event like a sporting match? Papers please.

What this will become is the terms of service for citizenship. In fact, it will probably be baked into terms of service edicts. If you want to use Netflix you will have to prove you are up to date on your jabs. Of course, Big Tech will be there to make this simpler with tracking software for your now mandatory smart phone. That paper card they will be issuing will be replaced with an app for your phone that will be required if you want to function like what passes as a normal adult.

If this sounds a lot like fascism, you would be right.

Aww, I’m SURE that’s just a coinkydink. I mean, it’s GOTTA be. Right?

What the Covid-19 panic has revealed, and continues to reveal, is the managerial elite has no respect for things like the rule of law, individual liberty or any of the other foundation items of consensual government. To protect democracy, they will rig the election process. To keep us free they will strip us of our rights. In the name of inclusion and diversity they will exclude anyone who disagrees. What we are seeing is that the real plague on our society is the ruling class.

Nailed it, clean and tight. Unfortunately, there’s only one way to inoculate ourselves against that particular plague. The vaccine—although a proven, time-tested, sure-fire prophylactic—isn’t a permanent cure either, requiring booster shots on a regular basis. It’s also quite costly, and not in merely financial terms. But however harsh, painful, and expensive the treatment, allowing the Ruling Class disease to metastasize and run rampant is far more damaging to the body politic over the long term. Quoth a truly great man:

God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. We have had 13 states independant 11 years. There has been one rebellion. That comes to one rebellion in a century and a half for each state. What country before ever existed a century and half without a rebellion?

Not anything like a free one, that’s a dead cert. The rest of the quote—concerning the watering of certain trees and what their natural manure might consist of—will doubtless be quite familiar to folks around these environs, I trust. It’s this next bit that I most wanted to drive home.

And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.

It’s as mystifying as it is dreadful to ponder how shamefully far Jefferson’s descendants have allowed themselves to stray from the eternal wisdom of his words.

Komrade Kooper is very disappointed in you people

So I’m afraid you’ll all just have to be punished.

North Carolina will soon be under a new, modified stay-at-home order, including a 10 p.m. curfew, Gov. Roy Cooper announced Tuesday.

The new rules aimed at limiting gatherings go into effect Friday at 5 p.m. and are scheduled to run through 5 p.m. Jan. 8.

Or, y’know, however long it takes you serfs to learn your lesson and do as you’re told.

The new executive order also increases restrictions on alcohol sales, ordering businesses to stop selling alcohol after 9 p.m. The state had previously limited alcohol sales until 11 p.m. in an order first implemented in August.

“We will do more if the trends do not improve,” Cooper warned.

Oh, I don’t have the slightest doubt about that. Unless and until enough North Carolinians wake the fuck up to finally make with the torches and pitchforks, drag your sorry ass out of the governor’s mansion, and turn you into a holiday lamp-post decoration, at any rate.

Preview of coming attractions

What to look forward to from Gropey’s illegitimate ruling junta.

With this new government, most people will have very little control over their lives. Those at the top of government will have a lot of power and will probably take a lot of perverse pleasure in it. State legislators in what will become the minority party are not at the top of government and will have no more power than the rest of us.

So, no different than now, then.

What kind of changes will we have to endure? We will wear masks forever. There will always be a medical crisis mandating them.

Again: nothing new there.

There will be a war on combustion.

That’s poorly phrased; the war will be on internal combustion engines. There’ll be plenty of combustion out there, as BLM/PantiFa/et al burn White Suburbia to the ground.

We will be forced to drive electric cars or no car at all. Barack Obama began this effort in 2009 with his “cash for clunkers” program.

Don’t try to tell me you didn’t see THAT coming.

Thanks to new regulations, we will pay much higher prices for technology and medical care.

Already are, thanks.

We will have medical death panels. It is already starting.

We’ve had “death panels” since 2009, actually.

The first to receive the COVID-19 vaccine will be health care workers and nursing home residents. So far, the choice is palatable, but who will be the next one to be deemed worthy of survival? I assume that I will be dead last (pun intended).

I assure you I won’t be taking it at all—not ever, no matter what—so you needn’t worry about tripping over me to get it. “Survival”? Your concern is duly noted, but what with the Red Death’s less-than-intimidating IFR, I’ll tend to my own knitting there, thanks.

The war on combustion means there will be no fossil fuel to heat our homes. We will have to use heat pumps exclusively. Heat pumps require refrigerant. There is already a high price for refrigerant because of previous regulations. Expect the price to go higher. All of this will lead to rationing of electricity. There will be either rolling blackouts or central control of the thermostat. The latter already occurs in some people’s homes.

I’ll take “central control of the thermostat” for a thousand, Alex.

Government monitoring of our telephone calls and internet use will continue.

What, you really thought any of that was going away?

All guns will be confiscated.

They will certainly try. Jury is almost but not quite out on getting it done, though.

The state legislators will not be exempt from this horror.

Wanna bet?

I call upon all Republican state legislators in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin to reject the 2020 presidential elections in their states as inconclusive and vote in their own slate of electors. Make democracy great again.

Don’t hold your breath waiting for it, ‘kay? As has already been too-adequately demonstrated, the Repukes are part of the whole swindle, just another cog in the dirty machine.

Got a light?

They’re just rubbing our noses in it now.

Shut up and take it.

Want your kids to attend class in the public school you pay exorbitant property taxes to fund? No, shut up and take it.

Want to keep your lifeblood up and running so you can pay your bills and your employees? No, shut up and take it.

Want to go outside without a contaminated face cloth covering your mouth and nose? No, shut up and take it.

Want to gather the family for your annual Thanksgiving dinner? No, shut up and take it.

Want to have your vote count in the most consequential presidential election in modern history? No, shut up and take it.

Scorned Republican voters, the overwhelming majority of whom believe the presidential election was rigged—and that was before the spate of recent hearings—are now ordered by the Republican hierarchy to reelect two Republican senators in Georgia in order for the GOP to keep control of the Senate. If Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is demoted to minority leader next year, we are warned, the country as we know it is over.

Fair enough. Never mind that the Republican Senate mostly squandered four years with a Republican president. Just ignore their backing of the destructive Robert Mueller investigation or their cover-up of Russiagate or their slow-walking of the Biden family overseas racket. Forget that the Republican Senate voted to block the president’s emergency declaration to secure the southern border. What about court packing!

So, what did the Republican-controlled Senate do as hearings this week exposed massive election malfeasance in key swing states that likely tilted the outcome to Biden? By unanimous consent, the Senate passed the Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act, sponsored by Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah), which expands the green card program for educated foreign workers. The bill is widely seen as a giveaway to Silicon Valley and big corporations.

For now, it looks like the president will unfairly lose the White House. Joe Biden will unleash more COVID-excused tyranny along with other dehumanizing policies; he’s retaining Fauci as a top advisor and already is instructing Americans to wear face masks for his first hundred days in office. Republicans might pull off a win in Georgia next month and keep control of the Senate.

The message, however, to the rest of us is no matter the outcome, things will remain the same: Shut up and take it.

The only way things will change is if we change them ourdamnedselves. That arduous process begins only when we firmly REFUSE to take any more of it, not a moment before. We won’t get it done by being polite, subtle, or restrained about it, either. The whole sorry Uniparty gaggle is playing with fire here, whether they realize it or not. But it could very well end up being the Republicants who are the first to burn. And hey, that’s jake with me.

Yeah, no

It’s crucially, vitally important that we all vote Republican no matter what, see, even if we have to hold our nose and gag on a suppurating boil like Mitt Romney.

Because, umm, see, if we don’t, then, uhh, all sorts of awful…that is to say, the Demonrats could conceivably…if they take back the Senate, they might…umm…uhhh…

Know what? SCREW these treacherous backstabbers.

Senator David Perdue trashed President Trump in a video interview today WITH THE WASHINGTON POST, the day before President Trump is taking time off to go campaign for this jerk in Georgia.

Perdue has DONE NOTHING to address the MASSIVE voter fraud in Georgia.

He quickly threw President Trump under the bus after senile Joe Biden stole the election.

And now he’s on camera TRASHING TRUMP?

What an idiot.

It doesn’t count for much since I don’t live in Georgia, I guess. But if I did, I’d cheerfully gargle a five-gallon bucket of diarrhea before I’d even CONSIDER voting for a dung beetle like Perdue. Sorry if that makes anybody out there all fretful and upset, but with “friends” like this, who needs enemies? I’m with Bracken:

These RINOs must not be allowed to believe in this lock-step GOP robot voter outcome in Georgia, or they will stick a shiv in Trump’s back. In this, I agree with Lin Wood and Sidney Powell.

The cowardly RINOs have to be so afraid of losing EVERYTHING, that they come out and defend the integrity of the presidential election NOW.

If they don’t, then FUCK THEM…and let’s just get straight onto the civil war.

If Loeffler and Perdue don’t come out with Trump on Saturday at the GA rally, that’s my signal: fuck the RINO back stabbers, and let’s get onto an honest CW, face to face with honest enemies.

“Friend,” I hate the Mitts and Jebs hiding their knives behind me more than I hate the AOC’s and Schumers in front of me, looking at me with honest hatred right in my face.

They’re all turds floating in the same bowl as far as I’m concerned. And every last one of them needs to be flushed away for good; it ain’t healthy for the dying Republic to keep them hanging around and stinking up the joint like this.

Take it off

Defiance is the only option, and there ain’t but one way to do it.

Previously I had labeled the masks that our control-freak society is demanding everyone wear, wherever they go and whatever they do, as a mask of ignorance. While the evidence is still uncertain on whether high quality masks, used properly, can stop the spread of COVID-19, the improper use of masks guarantees that they will contribute to the virus’s spread.

I however no longer see masks as simply a symbol of ignorance. I now see masks as a symbol of oppression, and the willingness of Americans to submit to that oppression, without a whimper. In fact, the mask will prevent anyone from really hearing that whimper. It tells everyone you are willing to be silenced and subjugated, like a dog.

Yet, everywhere I go almost everyone is masked. Even more ridiculous, I have seen Trump supporters get out of their car, put their mask on to enter a restaurant, walk to their table and take it off for the rest of the meal. They then put it back on when they got up for that short walk back to their car.

This is not only irrational, it is downright stupid. That mask they put on is often coming from their pocket, and is not antiseptic. The odds it is a carrier of the virus is not trivial. Putting on your face, even for a few minutes, is counter to everything the mask control-freaks claim.

So why do they do it? They do it because they want to avoid trouble. They don’t want to risk an argue about the mask, with anyone. And they also tell me they fear the possibility of being verbally accosted by a control freak, and want to avoid that above all.

Worse, no one believes me when I tell them that none of that happens. No matter how many times I tell them that no one will question them about their lack of a mask, they still put the mask on, in fear.

For conservative Trump voters who claim to be lovers of freedom to bow so easily to fear and bullying bodes badly for the future of our free society. Seeing everyone wearing muzzles enforces the belief that peer pressure rules, and that you must obey the orders from on high. It makes it easier for the power-hungry to demand more, knowing from the sight of all those masks that no matter how unreasonable their demands, their servants will obey.

The thugs in power will take full advantage of this voluntary muzzling. They will know that if they can get away with that, they can get away with anything.

Seeing how brazenly, how audaciously they just stole a presidential election in open view of the entire fucking world, I’d say they know it full well, and no longer have the slightest concern about what anybody might think or do about it.

Update! I have to admit, this here is a mask I might actually consider wearing. Everywhere I went, all day, every day.

James Mattis: Joe Biden Must Eliminate ‘America First’ from U.S. Foreign Policy
Former Secretary of Defense James Mattis declared in an article in Foreign Affairs on Monday that the “America First” foreign policy had damaged national security, and called on Joe Biden to “eliminate ‘America first’” from U.S. strategy.

Mattis resigned in December 2018, citing policy disagreements with the president, who had just ordered a troop drawdown in Syria. In his resignation letter, Mattis said that the U.S. needed to do more to show “respect” to American allies.

In October 2018, then-Secretary Mattis gave a speech in which he said that “when we talk about America first, it’s not America alone.”

Who the fuck ever said that it was, or had to be, you disingenuous Deep State dipshit? But there’s a minor detail the scruple-bereft prick scrupulously neglected to mention, and would probably prefer we all ignore.

In an online column denouncing President Trump’s “America First” policy that includes measures regarding Beijing, ex-Defense Secretary James Mattis did not disclose his affiliation with an organization that fosters international business deals with communist China.

As coauthor with three other writers in a Nov. 23 Foreign Affairs column, Mattis did not mention that he works for the The Cohen Group consulting firm. Nor did he challenge China’s tough talk against U.S. policies regarding Taiwan, nor the strict economic retaliation Beijing levied against Australia.

The Cohen Group is run by another former Defense Secretary. William Cohen, who has been involved with China since 1978, when he went there to meet with Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping, according to the organization.

Mattis joined The Cohen Group in 2019 as a senior counselor.

So, replace “America first” with “China first” then, eh, Mad Dog? Herschel says:

Oh. I see. Maybe this has something to do with being a sell-out and enemy of the state?

You’re a wee mite off there, my friend. Mattis and “people” like him are by no means enemies of the state. They ARE The State. Which is the whole problem, probably one of our biggest. Herschel’s commentary is minimal, which is of course fine and all. Right away, though, commenter Georgiaboy61 seizes the opportunity to take that ball and run with it, at length.

The decades-long slog to become an officer of flag/general rank selects against the very qualities we are supposed to prize most in our senior military leaders.

Even the good ones find swimming against the tide of group-think, political-correctness, and expediency hard going, and many eventually leave the services prematurely, or find themselves slowly being co-opted into the system, or shunted aside into dead-end assignments without a future.

This struggle to remain true to one’s values while building a career in uniform has always been challenging, but since the spread of Cultural Marxism across American society and into its institutions – including the armed forces – a half century ago, it has become nothing less than a nightmare for traditional Americans.

It has become holy writ in the armed forces – especially to anyone who desires to make a career as a senior enlisted man or officer – that anyone not “on board” with women in combat, diversity, affirmative action, multiculturalism and all the rest of it – that it is a career-ender to transgress against these sacred totems of P.C. Get with the program or get out. It’s been this way since the Tail Hook scandal back in the early1990s, and the trend has only accelerated since then.

Also wrapped up in that particular package is that one must not question the core tenets of interventionism, neo-conservativism/neo-liberalism, globalism and internationalism, nor the institutions and policies thereof – the UN, NATO, the World Bank, IMF, etc. Foreign policy realism, or enlightened national self interest – are dead-and-gone as viable alternatives.

There’s plenty more, of which you should definitely read the all (sorry, no direct comment links provided at the Captain’s joint, but well worth the scroll). Fair Use says I should probably lay off the excerpting right there, but no way can I resist throwing this in as well.

It must always be borne in mind that the higher one rises in the armed forces, either as an officer or senior NCO, the more political it becomes. And no one in the armed forces may be promoted to flag/general officer rank without the “advice and consent” of Congress. Meaning that becoming a general is inherently political, and that if buttering up Congressmen and Senators isn’t to your liking, you probably won’t get past light bird or colonel, no matter how good the rest of your package is.

The late Colonel John Boyd, USAF, a maverick and independent thinker (a true one, not a fake like John McCain), one of our nation’s finest military officers and then one of our finest military theorists and thinkers, was famous as “The Ghetto Colonel” and before that, as the “Mad Major,” or simply as “Genghis John” for his take-no-prisoners approach to his work, life and especially for his treatment of phonies and fakes of all kinds, whom he despised regardless of rank.

Boyd was famous for taking aside young officers with stars in their futures, and sitting them down for a blunt face-to-face talk which started off with something like “Well, tiger, you’re a real blue-flamer and you’re going places…” and ending up with Boyd telling the individual in question, “You’ve reached a fork in the road, you can either be someone, or you can do something – but probably not both.”

What he meant was that if you wanted to perform a real service to the nation, and to your branch and to your colleagues in uniform, you will probably have to forsake reaching high rank, getting rich or becoming widely-known or famous. Getting things done meant stepping on toes, sometimes powerful toes, and ruffling feathers – and if you wanted that, you had to pay the price.

Or, you could take the easy way out and play the games the perfumed princes and courtiers in uniform all played in the Five-Sided-Puzzle-Palace. These are the folks who reap the riches, the rank, the notoriety, and the fame, plus lavish sinecures at Fortune 500 defense firms in retirement.

Boyd refused over his long career to accept anything – compensation, good or service – which even hinted at favoritism, graft, or the like. He and his family lived in a small apartment even as he was promoted into the field grade ranks. Boyd was no respecter of rank when ripping into someone, especially when he thought the target of his ire had behaving stupidly or unethically. He was known to tell generals to their face that they were idiots. Which is probably one reason he made Colonel – O-6 – but not general/flag rank. Boyd was fortunate to get that far; he had made many enemies over his career and they had long memories. Fortunately for him, his work was stellar and he had friends in uniform, too.

The rot and dead wood which infest the senior ranks of the officer corps at present is appalling, but also highly typical of long periods of peace or relative peace. Genuine war-fighters, the kinds of generals and admirals who win battles and win wars, make official Washington nervous and upset the routine functioning of the system. Bureaucrats-in-uniform, or what the late Colonel David Hackworth called “perfumed princes,” are much-preferred in the usual places and by the usual suspects.

All of this, along with Bill Buppert’s spot-on follow-up, jibes perfectly with what my cousin Reggie (career Navy jet-jock, only scant weeks short of retiring at the rank of Captain when he keeled over dead from a heart attack while driving in to work as Argentina Naval attaché a few years ago; CF lifers may remember his posts here as “Regbo” some years back) always told me. Taken as a whole, it highlights more than just one or two enormous obstacles to ever draining the Swamp and putting this country back on the right track again. Which isn’t just worrisome; it’s downright scary.

As for Mattis, it appears I need to dust off the sparingly used “ex Marine” epithet, previously reserved around here mostly for the despicable John Murtha, and start using it again. You former Devil Dogs out there will know what I mean by it, I’m sure.

The era of cynicism

It’s the only thing that makes sense anymore.

The Soviet Union, like all radical experiments, went through several phases in its roughly three generations of existence. The first phase, of course, was the revolution, in which the old order was toppled and a battle ensued to fill the void. This initial phase of revolution is always the one that attracts the most attention. This is when the great heroes of the revolution and the great villains of it are made. It is in this phase we get both Lenin and Stalin, hero and villain.

There is a phase that gets little attention and that is when the people come to terms with the irrationality of the world that has been created for them. One reason Stalin was able to send so many to their deaths or to labor camps is so many people kept thinking there was some rationality to the world being created. Some remained idealistic believers in the cause, while others became critics of the cause. They assumed the revolution would bring clarity and rationality when it brought only the opposite.

In time, the people came to terms with this. The humor of the Soviet Union reflected the fact that one got along by accepting the irrational in the same way you accept that the grass is green or the sky is blue. You don’t think about it. The jokes were often about these daily contradictions and how the unfortunate were those who did not get the joke that was at the heart of those contradictions. In other words, the joke was always on the fool who was not cynical enough to anticipate the lie.

This is relevant in our current age as we may be past the revolutionary stage and into that time when the people adjust to the irrational. The legacy conservative media keeps pounding the drum about how “we’re lurching into socialism” when we have been a socialist society for generations now. There is no aspect of our economic life outside the grip of the now semi-permanent ruling class. Telling people otherwise is just part of the way the ruling class controls the population.

Of course, this reality is dawning on even the dullest people, so we are being told that the bad guys are planning a “radical revolution.” The truth is, that revolution is well past the planning stage. It has already happened. From top to bottom, despite party labels or rhetoric, the system is stacked with people committed to the great reordering of society into the egalitarian paradise. The expulsion of Trump from office like a foreign body is the proof that the organism of state is wholly alien now.

In other words, a revolution has occurred out of view from the rest of us and now we are seeing the revolutionaries step out of the shadows. This is not a lot different than how Stalin took control of the party and government. He quietly consolidated his hold on the party, while his rivals were thinking the revolution was still ongoing. By the time they realized what had happened, it was too late. This realization was probably (the) penultimate thing that went through Trotsky’s head.

GREAT line, that one. Onwards.

Now we are in the phase where we get used to the often-bizarre contradictions in the rules being imposed by the new rulers. Some are easy, like the fact that states have put mentally disturbed Jewish men in sundresses in charge of public health. These are ornamental positions, so putting a crazy person in the role allows the governor to display his piety at little cost. Until the Covid hysteria, no one had any reason to know their state had public health officials.

Other bits of the new normal have no explanation. For example, states are now telling people they cannot make noise in their home, as part of the alleged fight against the spread of Covid. In Europe, they are banning the sale of alcohol at certain times, claiming this is to fight Covid.

Hate to bring it up and all, Z, but it ain’t just Europe.

On Wednesday, Nov. 25, restaurants and bars (in Pennsylvania—M) are ordered to suspend alcohol sales at 5 p.m. until 8 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 26. Gov. Wolf says the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is the “biggest day for drinking” and acknowledged bars and restaurants have been hit hard by the pandemic, but this one-night ban is needed.

Uh huh. Now as it happens, this grotesquely un-Constitutional decree was actually issued by the very “mentally disturbed Jewish man in a sundress” ZMan mentioned above (utterly ludicrous photo of said headcase at the GP link), which is pretty funny all by itself. But El Supremo Wolf’s follow-on “don’t blame meeee!” whine is one for the record books.

“The thing that we can’t do is ignore reality and say ‘yeah you folks, for no fault of your own, have been hit hardest by this virus.’ But the virus is what’s doing this. It’s not me. It’s not the administration. It’s not the government,” said Gov. Wolf.

Oh no no no, of course not. As everyone knows, tyranny is never, EVER the fault of an invasive, too-powerful government, even less so of the overreaching crawly things in charge of running it! Why, who could ever countenance making such an outlandish, irrational claim as that, for goodness’ sake? Such talk really ought to be against the law, if you ask me.

My GOD, the balls on these oxygen thieves. But honestly, how can you not love it just the same? Consider:

  • The ability to spew patent claptrap with a straight-face: “The thing that we can’t do is ignore reality…”WHEN “IGNORING REALITY” IS PRECISELY WHAT HE’S DOING
  • Alcohol sales must be banned—because, as has been firmly established by extensive research, testing, and observation, THEVIRUSTHEVIRUSTHEVIRUS!!!™is a bigger lush than Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and the ghost of Ted Kennedy put together, and just looooves itself a good, solid toot—but only between the hours of 5pm and 8am Thanksgiving Day. After 8am, humanity will BE SAAAAAFE!!! again, and can enjoy a snort if it likes. But not a moment before. Because, y’know, SCIENCE!!!
  • A nonsentient cluster of RNA strands and other such granular material—without authority, official standing, or even the ability to speak or sign the unlawful order—is somehow, some way, “what’s doing this.” Again: uttered with a straight face, with as much fake conviction as any lower-tier American pro-pol slime mold can scrape up, as if the man actually expected sensible people to believe it
  • BE SAAAAAAAFE!!! Also, do as you’re told, or else

Please pardon me, all, but I need to ask a simple question at this point:

WHY IN THE EVER-LOVIN’ BLUE-EYED WORLD AREN’T THESE WORMS EITHER LOCKED UP OR SWINGING BY THEIR NECKS FROM A FUCKING LAMPPOST, ANYWAY?

Asking for a friend, that’s all.

Cynicism? You better believe it, chum. It’s the last refuge sane people have at this late date.

“Evidence” and “proof” are NOT synonyms

Codevilla explains.

Now, black letter law.

The Trump campaign are plaintiffs. They have no obligation to prove anything. Nor do they have the power to subpoena things, documents, and persons, nor to compel testimony that might be dispositive regarding the sufficiency of fraud. Nor do they have the right to adjudicate disputes any more than the press has the right or power to do so.

The plaintiff’s only burden is to establish in the minds of persons who are empowered by law to subpoena evidence, compel, testimony, etc. what the semi-sacred words of American law call “probable cause” that fraud may have been committed. These persons are courts, principally federal, as well as state legislatures that possess investigative powers, as well as the U.S. Justice Department. These institutions (other than Justice) are also the only ones that have the right to decide what constitutes sufficient proof of what.

The Trump campaign has spoken in ways that suggest that it can prove fraud. It cannot. Not as a matter of law nor, given its lack of subpoena powers and compulsive power, can it do so as a matter of fact. Giving that impression, it has tended to discourage the persons who should be seized by their duty to follow “probable cause” of fraud—and there is plenty of that.

The Enemedia wretches cawing about the “lack of any evidence” are perfectly aware of the distinction between “evidence” and “proof,” of course. Likewise, they also know full well that Trump’s legal team is under no obligation whatsoever to reveal any part of the probable-cause evidence to them, nor to any other living soul on Earth not directly involved in the investigatory and/or litigation process.

Yes, Tucker too. He was dead wrong when he jumped all over Powell after she repeatedly declined to make her case and present her evidence, in full or in part, for his TV audience. Sorry, Tucker, but you have neither the right nor the weight to make such a demand. By persisting well beyond the point where you should have just backed off and let it go, all you accomplished was to make yourself look like a petty, petulant, over-entitled jackass. Hate to say it, but that’s the long and the short of it.

But while we’re excerpting Codevilla, let’s all follow along as he delves into the underpinnings of the whole damnable 2020 mess, a blatantly stolen election being only the ne plus ultra of this shaggy-ass goatfuck of a year.

For four decades beginning in the mid-1960s, a class of rulers grew in America. They became ever more uniform socially and intellectually, ever more opposed to the rest of Americans, and ever more powerful. This happened as government took upon itself the tasks of eliminating poverty and harmonizing the races, and as it controlled ever greater shares of the national income.

Increasingly, their powers were based on claims of expertise coming from the universities. These underwent a fourfold increase in size (from 9 percent of Americans with four-year degrees in 1965 to 36 percent in 2015). Their connection with government conferred both wealth and additional prestige. Few paid attention to President Eisenhower’s warning about the connection between government and academic elites.

Elsewhere, I have discussed how inherently pregnant with peril the existence of such a class was for constitutional life. Suffice it to say, by the beginning of the Obama Administration in 2009, the rest of Americans had sensed that American public life had ceased to revolve around the struggle between Democrats and Republicans, and was more between those who lived by the ruling class’ privileges, and those who did not—between the “ins” and the “outs,” between the ruling class and what had been known in English history as the country class.

During the Obama years, the American country class’ budding resistance spurred the ruling class further to become conscious of itself, to increase its own privileges, its cohesion, and above all its contempt for and demands on those below them. Political correctness ceased to be bemusing for the country class and came to be seen as the threat to freedom that it is. Corporate America became indistinguishable from government in its demands for compliance. That is why the 2016 presidential primaries and election revealed a substantial anti-ruling class majority among Americans, though it was split between opposite ends of the political spectrum.

In short, during the Obama years the ruling class was becoming an oligarchy that ruled by exercising the powers of government and of incumbency in corporations as well as all manner of social institutions. Private institutions, allied with government and inspired by government-supported universities, increasingly exercised arbitrary powers.

But by November 2016 this oligarchy had yet to articulate itself into something capable of acting for a common purpose. That is why the 2016 election may prove to have been the last more-or-less bona fide free election in America’s history.

Count on it. The one and only amusement Real Americans can savor from the situation, bitter though it is: the Gentleman Losers of the GOPe seem to truly believe that, now that the horrible Orange Man will soon be disposed of, we can all get back to business as usual straightaway, just like it was back in the good old Before Times. Gee, too bad for them that Codevilla is perfectly correct about 2016 being the last relatively free election this country will have, until/unless the rotten and illegitimate FederalGovCo is toppled and replaced with something entirely else.

The Democrat-Socialist crime cartel is now large and in charge, and they aim to keep it that way too. So can anyone really be so obtuse as to imagine that, having successfully swindled their way back into absolute power, they’ll balk at any conceivable skullduggery to do it over and over again from now on? Because what, they’re just too nice, too morally upright, too honorable to stoop to such chicanery more than just this one time?

It is to laugh. Say it with me: They will not stop. They will have to BE stopped. Until such time as we muster the yarbles to do it, we’re all in for a rough, rough ride, folks.

NYC gets the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree it voted for

Good. And. Hard.

What with the above sorry spectacle, plus THEVIRUSTHEVIRUSTHEVIRUS!!! skulking about to deepen the whole disaster, it adds up to a real haymaker of a holiday punch. I’m afraid there’s only option remaining now.

No Rudolph on the horizon to pull our chestnuts out of the fire this time, sad to say. Hey, better luck next year, kiddies. Not to worry; I’m SURE “president” Biden will be able to put things right for 2021.

The Venezuela-ing of America

Banana republic is as banana republic does.

By now, the election has displayed numerous “tells” that our own State Department uses to highlight fraudulent vote tabulation in countries like Iran and Ukraine: statistical anomalies, blocking and obscuring official observers, procedural irregularities such as stopping vote counts, suspicious software “glitches,” and social media blackouts when citizens raise the alarm.

Thankfully, litigation, hand-recounts, and even federal investigations of fraud are all underway—a process that other countries with questionable elections like Syria don’t have. But if proof of systematic meddling is uncovered, Americans must still rely on the justice system to act on this proof, and the media to ensure the rightful winner is declared.

But what if these hallowed institutions don’t deliver?

It might be terrifying to admit, but American democracy depends on authorities who have lost the public trust: unbiased state and city officials to ensure procedural fairness, unbiased election workers to ensure vote integrity, unbiased judges to enforce that integrity, and unbiased media to inform the American people about the other three. Who will audit the auditors? To examine one test case, the Georgia GOP has already raised alarms that the promised audit in their state does not meet crucial evidentiary criteria. Will something be done?

This election represents the ultimate test of our system and its resilience in a partisan age. If partisans can seize levers of power that impact election results, and they’ve shown they’ll stop at nothing in their revanchism, why engage in elections at all?

And what other recourse, short of revolution, can right the situation?

I’ve been trying really hard, but I can’t think of a single one. So it’s Amerizuela or bust.

Sidney Powell explained one of the many alleged anomalies of the 2020 presidential election on the Rush Limbaugh show: “Trump votes were programmed to switch to Biden ahead of time, but Trump’s votes were so high, it didn’t work right because they didn’t set their algorithms high enough.” Could that explain the sudden pauses in the counting of votes in crucial swing states on election night? Trump was too far ahead, and adjustments had to be made to ensure a Biden victory? Powell has also released information claiming that Smartmatic voting software, which was used extensively in the United States in the 2020 election, was manipulated in Venezuela to ensure the victories of socialists Hugo Chavez and Nicholas Maduro.

That isn’t evidence that this software was used in a fraudulent manner in the United States, but it raises the question, and we will likely not get definitive answers until the disputed election reaches the Supreme Court, and even then the arguments will go on. Nevertheless, the ongoing revelations about the 2020 election are more than enough, if not to overturn the result, then at very least to underscore the fact that whether or not President Trump’s efforts to throw out illegal votes and stop voter fraud this year succeed, America will have no more free elections if this problem is not thoroughly addressed, and concrete actions taken to ensure that future elections are tamper-proof.

And so it’s all on the line now with Sidney Powell, Rudolph Giuliani, and the rest of Trump’s legal team. Those who are dismissing even the possibility that the presidential election could have been rigged lack a historical sense. America has had fraudulent elections before, even at the presidential level: as Rating America’s Presidents details, Andrew Jackson raged (although he almost certainly wasn’t as unhinged as Hillary) for four years against what he called the “corrupt bargain” that he charged John Quincy Adams had made with Henry Clay to secure victory in the 1824 election, which went to the House of Representatives; he then rode that rage to a landslide victory over Adams in 1828.

Then in 1876, the election dispute dragged on until March 2, 1877, two days before what was then Inauguration Day. In exchange for Democrat acquiescence to his victory, the Republican Rutherford B. Hayes agreed to remove federal troops from the South, disenfranchising black Americans and creating the Democrats’ segregationist “Solid South” that lasted until the next fraudulent election, that of 1960. In that one, Democratic Party machines manufactured enough votes to deliver Illinois and Texas to John F. Kennedy. JFK’s opponent Richard M. Nixon opted not to contest the results, despite having evidence in hand, because of the disruption a disputed election would have caused to Cold War America.

But now the Cold War is long over, the Solid South is a distant memory, and the “corrupt bargain” is the one Trump referred to in a late October rally: “Joe Biden has made a corrupt bargain in exchange for his party’s nomination. He has handed control of his party over to the rage-filled socialist Marxist and left-wing extremists. And could we put another name in there? Starts with a ‘C.’ Communist. Yes. No, we got a couple of them too, unfortunately.”

Yes, we do. And we could have more very soon. If they’re victorious now, we may not get another chance to challenge their hegemony. We have seen how that works in Venezuela.

And now, thanks to the systemic corruption and megalomania of the Democrat-Socialist criminal cartel, we’re seeing it at work here too.

Fleeing the nest they fouled

Instead of moving down here without invitation or encouragement and ruining our homes for us the exact same way you did your own, consider giving NOT VOTING FOR ANY MORE SOCIALISTS a try, maybe.

More than 300,000 New Yorkers have bailed from the Big Apple in the last eight months, new stats show.

City residents filed 295,103 change of address requests from March 1 through Oct. 31, according to data The Post obtained from the US Postal Service under a Freedom of Information Act request.

Since the data details only when 11 or more forwarding requests were made to a particular county outside NYC, the number of moves is actually higher. And a single address change could represent an entire household, which means far more than 300,000 New Yorkers fled the five boroughs.

Whatever the exact number, the exodus — which began when COVID-19 hit the city in early spring — is much greater than in prior years. From just March through July, there were 244,895 change of address requests to destinations outside of the city, more than double the 101,342 during the same period in 2019.

The escape from New York is fueled not only by coronavirus concerns, but economic worries, school chaos and rising crime, experts say.

Michael Hendrix, director of state and local policy at the Manhattan Institute, which has commissioned surveys about the state of the city, was not surprised by the data.

“I think people are afraid,” Hendrix said. “They’re afraid of catching a deadly virus and they’re afraid of crime and other quality of life concerns. One thing we also hear is about trash and cleanliness of the city.”

Since I’ve expressed my thoughts on this ongoing saga several times already and no longer really give much of a damn about it, I wouldn’t have bothered posting on this particular installment unless it had some aspect I found odd or amusing. I’m pretty sure y’all caught what that aspect might have been, right?

This means war!

Damn, this is depressing. But it’s who they are. It’s what they do.

Most CTH readers are likely aware of the term “deplatforming.” Unfortunately, the big tech control mechanism to shut down speech & assembly has now arrived on our doorstep.

One week after the 2020 presidential election, The Conservative Treehouse received the following notification:

…”given the incompatibility between your site’s content and our terms, you need to find a new hosting provider and must migrate the site by Wednesday, December 2nd.

The WordPress company is not explaining the reason for deplatforming because there is no justifiable reason for it. At the same time, they are bold in their position. Perhaps this is the most alarming part; and everyone should pay attention. They don’t care.

Truthful assembly is now the risk. CTH is now too big; with a site reach of 500,000 to a million unique readers each day; and with well over 200,000 subscribers; our assembly is too large, too influential, and presents a risk…we guard the flickering flame.

The ‘content’ is not compatible with WordPress, the world’s largest website and blog hosting service. The content within the largest blog on that global platform is what has become troublesome. “The content”.

The content on these pages is simply an ongoing discussion about freedom with criticism against any political party or entity that diminishes it. Apparently, immediately after the 2020 election, that discussion became problematic. After writing about the COVID-19 agenda,…the notification: the website will be removed.

Let that settle in…friends and adversaries alike. Think very hard about what exactly is being represented by these actions. That’s the bad news.

To anyone out there still telling him or herself that naaah, they won’t come for ME: Yes, they’re coming for you too.

I’ve had a long and happy relationship with the WP platform, in large part thanks to one of WP’s longtime Lead Developers, a fellow old-timey blogger and all-around good dude by the name of Mark Jaquith. Back in the day, anytime I ran into some problem or other with the CF WP install, Mark was the guy I would go screaming to for help, which he always cheerfully provided. Far as I know, he’s no longer affiliated with WordPress, although I haven’t talked to him in years and could be completely wrong about that.

This here hogwallow was originally designed, built, and run not using any blogging software at all—the options for that were pretty thin on the ground back in 2001, and my knowledge of any of them even thinner—but with Adobe GoLive, with which I was already comfortable from my fledgling website design “career.” I stuck with that pain-in-the-ass setup briefly, then switched over to GreyMatter on the advice of the legendary Steven Den Beste. After a year or two on GM, I then moved house once again to the venerable Movable Type platform, which seemed to be the coming thing amongst a lot of OG warbloggers. WP came along soon after; being your basic Mark-1 Mod-0 early adopter type, I jumped aboard, with nary a backward glance since.

Up till now I’ve been more than happy with WordPress, which makes this revolting assault on free speech all the more horrifying to me. I can’t even begin to imagine someone like Mark Jaquith standing still for such blatant totalitarian censorship; I truly hope that I’m right about his not being involved with them anymore. If he is, I suspect he won’t be for much longer.

WP and Hosting Matters make an excellent combination; the folks at HM are all very familiar with the ins and outs of the WordPress architecture, which makes problem-solving and miscellanous tweaking a hassle-free walk in the park. Sadly, I don’t know of any alternative blogging-software platforms out there that are anywhere near as feature-rich, flexible, and just plain solid as WP is. But believe me: after this sad, depressing, and infuriating news, I’m damned sure gonna be looking. Hard.
