Intolerable, immoral, unacceptable

But will Coloradan patriots (if any) accept it anyway?

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis Signs Insanely Unconstitutional Gun Control Law With Huge National Implications
If you care about preserving the Second Amendment, what just happened in Colorado needs to be on your radar.

On Thursday, Gov. Jared Polis signed a law that bans the production and most sales of semi-automatic firearms with detachable magazines. That means the gun control measure not only covers semi-automatic rifles like the AR-15 (which would be bad enough on its own) but also makes essentially all modern-day handguns illegal as well.

To say this is blatantly unconstitutional is an understatement. The Supreme Court ruled in District of Columbia vs. Heller that firearms in common use are protected under the Second Amendment for “traditionally lawful purposes.” That includes self-defense. Semi-automatic handguns and rifles with detachable magazines are the most commonly used guns in the United States. It’s not even a question that this gun control law runs afoul of Supreme Court precedent. That means that Polis signed something that he has to know is illegal, making this move all the more insidious.

The stakes here could not be higher. If Colorado gets away with this, you can kiss the Second Amendment goodbye. If a state gets away with largely banning semi-automatic handguns, it can get away with banning any type of firearm. This is the most radical gun control legislation to ever be signed, and it must be fiercely opposed.

Up to and including by violence, if needs must. And sooner or later, they will.

I understand there’s a lot going on in the political world right now, but this is that important. Gun advocate groups need to be filing challenges immediately, and this must get to the Supreme Court if the lower courts do not strike this law down. If that doesn’t happen, every single Democrat-led state in the union will pass similar laws, and with a lack of reciprocity, half the country will essentially be a no-go zone for modern guns. It won’t stop there, either. Gun control activists will not be happy until all firearms are banned.

Yeh, yeh, yeh—lawsuits, courts, peaceful protest, handwringing op-eds, blah blah blah.  Worth a try, of course; as every decent, well-meaning sort concedes, all peaceable expedients must be exhausted before turning to that final desperate resort: the Cartridge Box. At the end of the day, though, it’s yet another shovelful of the same old shite, nothing more.

Normals should think of this as the Left’s warning shot across the Constitutional bow, because that is precisely what it amounts to. The tyrant Polis knows this perfectly well, of course—count on it. Look for a flood of deceitfully-misnomered gun “buyback” programs (how can they “buy back” something they never bought in the first damned place?) to immediately ensue.

Look for the overwhelming majority of city and state po-lice to eagerly enforce the Gov Jared Polis Unlawful Edict™, with the possible exception of a handful of county Sheriiffs, or constables, or whatever they call ‘em out in the Boulder State. Look for the Colorado National Guard to be stood up to provide “emergency” backup for their Brothers In Blue. Look for the majority of said CO Guardsmen to forsake their freely-sworn oath to “protect, defend and uphold” and obey their unlawful orders, too.

The thing to keep (and bear—heh) foremost in mind here is that the last above-excerpted sentence is wholly true and accurate, which Real Americans have understood full well for several decades now in spite of the hoplophobic Left’s disingenuous “I’m a hunter myself” refrain. The one remaining question confronting us grows more pressing, more urgent, with every passing day: What, if anything, are we going to do about it?

As Ben Grimm always says before getting down to serious bidness as The Thing, IT’S CLOBBERIN’ TIME!

How to win a war

Something the US has liong since forgotten how to do. Or just gave up caring about doing, more like.

You Want to Win a War? This Is How You Win a War
There’s more good news out of the Middle East, I’m happy to report. On the heels of yesterday’s news that the Israeli Defense Force was doing an admirable and rapid job of eliminating Hamas leadership in an explosive game of Whack-a-Mole, today we learn that the Gazans themselves finally show signs of turning against their terrorist government.

We saw tiny signs of this in the awful weeks after the Oct. 7, 2023, terror invasion that kicked off the Israel-Hamas War, such as the old Gazan woman who accused Hamas of stealing humanitarian aid meant for the people. “Everything goes to [Hamas] houses,” she complained. “They take it; let them take me, shoot me, or do whatever they want with me.”

Which, note ye well, is more of an expression of the hag’s disgruntlement over Hamas’ lack of concern for her own personal well-being than it is of horror at the brutal atrocities committed against guiltless civilians during the vicious Oct 7 rampage. Just in case any of you thought Gazans suddenly developing a functioning conscience had anything to do with their newfound dislike for Hamas, terrorism, or genocide of the Jews.

But Tuesday saw a rare mass protest against Hamas.

Even the mayor of Beit Lahia, Gaza, got in on the action.

If Hamas finds him, I suspect he won’t die well.

Why the mainstream media chooses not to air clips like these is anyone’s guess, but anyone’s most cynical and accusatory guess is probably the correct one.

None of this is perfect, of course. “Why aren’t they chanting to release the hostages then?” one critic wondered. Then there’s Iran, the official sponsor of Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis. Until Iran is put back in the box President Donald Trump had them in during his first term, the terrorist kudzu will grow back.

But turning the population against the people who started the war is how you end a war, and Israel’s renewed offensive — the IDF’s WWII-style rubble-ization of the Gaza Strip — might be doing just that.

Most wars fail to accomplish that vital goal.

A tad too much Vietnam-era “hearts and minds” bushwa here for my taste, I’m afraid. Another Vietnam-era counterslogan is more my speed: When you’ve got ‘em by the balls, their hearts and minds will follow. The Gaza job will never truly be over and done with until the very thought of death, destruction, and strife makes Gazans puke all down their pant legs reflexively. As such, Bibi, this is no time to be going wobbly or weak in the knees just because a handful of Gazans have decided they aren’t happy with life under Hamas rule all of a sudden.

Our old chum Stephen knows all this too, of course, which the remainder of the piece confirms quite nicely, thanks. To wit:

That’s why I’ve often found the phrase “forever wars” so frustrating. In context, complaining about “forever wars” is often more of a way to shut down debate than a historically accurate assessment. What makes our poor military performance in places like Afghanistan sting so much isn’t that we were mired in so-called “forever wars,” but that they were wars of choice, not of national survival, that we chose to conduct inconclusively. All that spilled blood, and for what?

But sometimes a World War II comparison is spot-on, which brings us back to the Middle East and the Hamas terror invasion of Oct. 7, 2023. Hamas’s aims were explicitly genocidal and their means — including uploading videos of murdered civilians to the victims’ social media accounts for their families to see — were so horrifying that Hamas and Gaza must be smashed as badly as Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan.

If the Israel-Hamas War is to end, it ends in the ruined streets of Gaza.

Indeed so—and not a moment before then, either. Sad as that may be, it also happens to be the plain, simple, and unadorned truth.

Manwoman über alles

Did somebody say “sickos” just now? Why yes, I believe someone did.

Trans Activists Hijack A School Board Meeting To Verbally Attack A Concerned Mother
When an obnoxious group of political activists suddenly goes silent, it’s usually a sign that they’re regrouping in some way. That’s especially true after the activists suffer a crushing defeat in a national election. It’s only natural to assume that, under those circumstances, the activists have gone underground for a bit in order to refine their messaging. They’re putting their best minds together to come up with a platform that might appeal to more people. Or at the very least, they’re taking steps to make sure that, when they emerge from hiding, they’re not seen as even crazier and less convincing than they were before. That’s the bare minimum you’d expect. Think about how the Indians realized they were on the losing side of the whole debate over “who gets the land,” so they came back and decided to settle for owning a bunch of casinos instead. There’s a strategic retreat, then an effective comeback.

This is the playbook that we’ve seen again and again. But after this week, it’s clear trans activists and the LGBT movement have thrown out the manual. Following their rejection at the ballot box in November, trans activists have decided against the idea of moderating their insanity. Instead, they have elected to double down on the most extreme and demented aspects of their ideology.

In order to understand the depths of depravity, you need to watch the scene that unfolded at a school board meeting on Thursday in Deerfield, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. A woman named Nicole Georgas began by telling the school board that her daughter is a 13-year-old student at a local middle school. And recently, her 13-year-old was forced to share a bathroom with a male student.

Before we play the rest of Nicole Georgas’ statement, it’s worth pointing out that, strangely enough, no one on the Left is calling this situation a “constitutional crisis.” She’s pointing out, correctly, that the state of Illinois is defying Trump’s executive order on gender ideology. And in the process, they’re disregarding the civil rights of children at a systemic level. If you listened to the Left’s complaints about how outrageous it was that the Trump administration ignored a judge’s order when he deported Venezuelan terrorists the other day, you might think that they’d be equally upset about what the state of Illinois is doing in this case. But of course there’s no outrage, because these people are more than happy to ignore orders when they feel like it. And the state of Illinois should lose federal funding immediately as a result.

At a minimum, we need conservative DAs to start pressing those kinds of charges against the people pushing this madness. This goes beyond the realm of a political debate or a “constitutional crisis.” This is child abuse. And if there were any good-faith members of the trans activist community — if any of them were capable of some level of basic human decency — they would admit this. They would acknowledge that, indeed, it’s possible to go too far in the process of affirming gender ideology. And that point is reached when you’re forcing children to expose themselves to members of the opposite sex.

But because there are no good-faith trans activists, you can probably guess how this mother’s statement was received. As soon as she was finished, “boos” rang out in the room. One person asked her why she was “obsessed” with the genitals of children, which is one of those stock arguments these activists use all the time, even though it makes no sense whatsoever. They could be exposing themselves to you and your children in the park, and then when you object to it, they’ll accuse you of being “obsessed.” Then, a few other activists spoke at the school board meeting, and they continued to take cheap shots at the mother.

The above article, with several video embeds to flesh out the story, was put together by the esteemed Matt Walsh, probably the doughtiest, staunchest warrior sane people have on their side against the “transgender” supremacist mafia. (NOTE: the link above is to the Archive.is version; the original Daily Wire post, unfortunately, is sealed off behind the dreaded paywall).

Nota bene what actually went on in that Chicago school indoctrination center, according to other reports I’ve seen: the girls were forcibly marched into the changing room after PE class where the boy was waiting, already undressed, staring hungrily at his helpless female classmates in rapt anticipation of the free show he was about to witness. When several of the girls refused to get nekkid under the goggle-eyed gaze of a nude, visibly tumescent male student, the screws issued threats of suspension, expulsion, and various other consequences most dire if they didn’t cooperate in their own victimization.

If the aforementioned reports are accurate, one girl tried to shield herself behind some sort of movable, cubicle-style half-wall before undressing, whereupon one of the matrons/guards/whatevs seized her by the arm and dragged her back into the open with the others. Against her clearly-expressed will, no less. Which would be assault, perhaps even battery also. IANAL, as the acronym goes.

Walsh has it right: this is nothing less than child abuse, plain and simple—made even worse by the fact that it was perpetrated by the “proper authorities” of the school—ie, the selfsame “adults” responsible for protecting their young charges from precisely this sort of raw predation. Small wonder, then, that Ms Georgas is so pissed off about it. If MY daughter had been one of the young ladies frogmarched into the changing room that day and ordered to strip off in front of a male student claiming to be “transgender,” Chicago funeral parlors and morticians could expect a sudden surge in demand for their services to ensue forthwith.

Unacceptable, right down the line, that’s what. Schools, admins, teachers and principles, and school boards not just in Chicago but across the country must be made aware of that fact, by any and every means at hand…up to and including scary black fully semi-automatic assault weapon rifle guns with extreme high capacity standard magazines and a shoulder thingy that goes up.

UNEXPECTED! ™

Gee, what a shocker: Professional shitlib “male feminist” turns out to to be sicko stalker.

So Another Male Feminist Turns Out to Be a Social Media Perv
Give some credit to young Democrat hustle(r) Harry Sisson, reluctant as you may be, for turning some small amount of social media savvy into a lucrative career as a progressive influencer — not to mention all those sweet young ladies that the 23-year-old professional Democrat has reportedly tried to con into sending him their most intimate photos of themselves.

Sisson likes to play a male feminist on social media, you’ll be shocked to learn.

“America failed women tonight,” Sisson posted to X after Donald Trump won reelection last November. “Trump bullied, assaulted, and stripped reproductive rights away from women all across the country, and instead of standing up, we let it happen.”

That’s the kind of “insight” Sisson regularly posts that has somehow amassed him 1.7 million TikTok followers and nearly 300,000 on X.

Sisson seems to have enjoyed a childhood of privilege — he spent parts of his early life in Dubai and Dublin before settling down in the U.S. at 17 — but the identity and occupation of his parents seem to be unavailable. Nevertheless, his net worth is estimated at anywhere from $800,000 to $8.5 million. Even the low end would be impressive for someone who has yet to hit the quarter-century mark and who doesn’t seem to have ever produced a good or service in the private sector.

Exactly what he does aside from attending New York University and posting on social media I can’t tell.

Oh, yeah — he also creeps on women while playing the male feminist.

There’s nothing new about young men of means trying to bed various women, and there has never been a lack of women willing to bed young men of means. Human nature is what it is. But doing so while posing as a noble defender of women’s rights is too hypocritical to let pass.

A few important things for these women to remember here: 1) at some point, those photos are going to end up splashed all across the am-pr0n Intarwebs, a near-inevitability that even Sisson himself will be powerless to prevent; and 2) as all the cool kids say, Teh Intarwebs is forever—which means your XXX twat-shots (“private”? It is to laugh) on PornHub and such-like sites ain’t ever going away. Which in turn means that yes, your kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids, if any, will be just one (1) easy-peasy Google, Duck Duck Go, or Luxxle search away from running across them some fine day.

Sorry, ladies, but no amount of weeping, wailing, and/or gnashing of teeth is going to change any of the above. Have a nice day.

Update! Ace notes an amusing aspect:

The surprising thing isn’t that a male liberal influencer is a pervert and user.

What’s shocking here is that Harry (S)isson is… straight? Sort of?!

A real stunner of a surprise of a jaw-dropper, I agree.

Updated update! Just noticed another amusing aspect. To wit:

“America failed women tonight,” Sisson posted to X after Donald Trump won reelection last November. “Trump bullied, assaulted, and stripped reproductive rights away from women all across the country, and instead of standing up, we let it happen.”

Don’t know if you’d call the bit I boldfaced a misnomer or an oxymoron or just what, but I has questions. For one thing, slaughtering your gestating infant “women’s health care” is NOT any kind of right. For another, how can it be “reproductive” when the whole point of the exercise is to avoid reproducing? I know, I know, I need to try harder to keep up with shitlib Doublespeak, linguistic inversions, and wilfull reversal of the meanings and definitions of plain, ordinary words. But still.

Call to violence

I can only repeat what I said not long ago: For the Left, the step from calls for violence to acts of violence is never a big one, nor have they ever shown themselves to be at all reluctant to take it.

Political Violence Against Musk: The Left’s Playbook of Intimidation
The attacks on Elon Musk and Tesla are no accident. They are the logical, almost inevitable, consequence of the incitement coming from the highest levels of the Democratic Party, left-wing media outlets such as MSNBC and The New York Times, and billionaire activists like Alex Soros and Reid Hoffman, who fear that Musk is dismantling what they’ve spend years building. These attacks are not isolated. They are coordinated. They are deliberate. And they are meant to send a message—not just to Musk, but to anyone else who dares challenge the progressive orthodoxy.

The recent wave of violence against Tesla facilities, dealerships, and charging stations is staggering in its scope. In New York City, over 350 protesters stormed a Tesla showroom, smashing windows, attacking customers, and even assaulting police officers. In Colorado, an activist-turned-arsonist lobbed Molotov cocktails at Tesla vehicles, spray-painting “Nazi cars” on the walls. In Oregon, a self-described “transgender terrorist” opened fire on a Tesla showroom, shattering windows and riddling vehicles with bullets. And the vandalism isn’t limited to the United States—graffiti in Tasmania denounces Tesla owners as driving “swasticars.”

What fuels this madness? The answer lies in the rhetoric of those in power. Prominent Democrats have relentlessly demonized Musk, not merely as a political opponent, but as a threat to democracy itself. Representative Robert Garcia, in a heated CNN interview, declared that the fight against Musk requires “real weapons,” a statement that he later claimed was metaphorical but was nonetheless embraced by activists as a call to action. Reid Hoffman, billionaire donor and longtime Democratic operative, ominously mused that “actions have consequences” when discussing the attacks on Tesla—an implicit endorsement of political violence. Others, including Representatives Al Green, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressley, have accused Musk of fascism, of being the next Hitler, of plotting to round up Democrats into concentration camps. This is not political discourse; this is incitement.

Lots more to this one yet at the link, of which you definitely want to read the all. I can’t refrain from including this bit from the closing sum-up:

This is not about Tesla. This is about the future of political discourse in America. If we allow these tactics to succeed, if we permit violence and intimidation to dictate who may speak and who must be silent, then we will have ceded our democracy to the mob.

Which, of course, is precisely why the Founders, to a man, warned their posterity so strenuously and continually against democracy—after all, at the end of the day “mob rule” is what democracy actually is.

Truckers’ wisdom

Found this over at Bayou Peter’s joint, and it’s mighty intriguing.

Hopefully that’s not too small for older eyes to be able to read; if so, there’s a bigger version at BRM you might try. For his part, Peter modestly admits:

I don’t regularly drive on ice and snow (thank you, Texas weather!), but from my (very) limited exposure to it, I know I don’t do well under those driving conditions. I’d never considered the hazards of commercial vehicles, particularly 18-wheeler truck/trailer combinations, when their drivers have the same problem. Now that drivers can come in from Mexico (where snow isn’t exactly commonplace, to put it mildly) and drive all the way to the US/Canadian border or even further north, I can see that would make for…interesting times on the highway.

“Interesting” in the apocryphal Chinese curse sense, he means.

In my own case, me and several friends of mine took advantage of a snow-day school cancellation when we were teenagers to get out on our high school’s expansive, snow-and-ice-coated parking lot to spin donuts, lock up the brakes and slide, and just generally act like idjits all afternoon, intentionally teaching ourselves how to drive on the slippery stuff. Ever since then, I’ve had no problems driving on anything but actual black ice, which nobody can really drive on anyway, not even experienced, highly-skilled Hollywood stunt drivers.

Update! It occurs to me that some of y’all might be interested to hear more about the truck driver’s trials and tribulations on snow and/or ice, from the perspective of someone who’s been there and done that. When it comes to operating a standard-sized sleeper tractor/53’ trailer rig on snow and ice, it all boils down to one simple word: DON’T. Not if you can possibly avoid it, at any rate. No matter how skilled you are, how well-trained, how experienced, nothing good can ever come of it.

Regardless of how slow, attentive, and careful you are behind the wheel, maintaining control on the slick stuff is a matter not of ability but of sheer, unadulterated luck. That’s it, that really is all there is to it. Tap them gingerly, stomp them (NEVER a good idea, actually), gently press and release over and over again, I never could find a way to keep the brakes from locking up in snowy/icy road conditions. Whereupon the trailer would begin to slooooowly jackknife, and there was not one damned thing you could do to keep it straight and following behind the tractor where it’s supposed to be. Fully loaded or empty, didn’t matter: the trailer had a mind of its own, and did not respond to any of my increasingly-desperate inputs from the cab. I had always figured having some weight behind me would be helpful in such straits, but nope.

There is/was no horror quite as paralyzing as having almost the entire side of my trailer appear in the side-view mirror, freewheeling along willy-nilly without a care in the world. One time, creeping down the mountain-top from Hendersonville pulling a just-unloaded trailer, I looked on in helpless terror as my empty trailer hove into view in the right-side mirror, sweeping majestically around as if it intended to scrub the poor little old man in a mid-sized car I was passing right off the highway and into the deep valley below. Steering and counter-steering like a madman, mildly stab-braking trying to get my rogue trailer back into proper alignment, nothing I tried seemed to have any real effect.

Meanwhile, the old guy was completely unaware of the life-and-death drama unfolding all around him. Somehow, some way, the trailer DID straighten back out again without making contact with the other vehicle, and I continued on down the mountain switchbacks bathed in a flop-sweat as the huge flakes kept falling thickly, intensely grateful for the miraculous sparing of that poor oblivious geezer’s life…THIS time. A bona fide miracle with which I had nothing whatsoever to do, one way or the other.

I still have nightmares about that little misadventure. Which is just jake with me, honestly; coulda been a hell of a lot worse, I know that.

From bad to worse

Stephen Green shares some deeply disturbing news.

I Could Live With the Egg Shortage, but NOT THIS… NOT THIS
We can argue all day and all night over whether the massive poultry cull was necessary or not, but two things are 100% certain. The first is that fewer birds producing fewer eggs gave us yet another massive spike in the price of eggs, typically an affordable and easy-to-prepare protein depended upon by jillions of people. The second is that I just learned of something worse.

Actually, let’s talk about that bird cull for just a moment. I did a little research on that a couple of weeks ago, thinking I might get a column out of it. I gave up on the column because half the reports I read indicated that the bird flu test is subject to false positives and that massive numbers of egg hens were unnecessarily slaughtered. The other half indicated no such problem. So I threw up my hands and abandoned the column.

But on reflection, since the cull was an act of the Biden administration, and since everything it did was either wrongheaded, spiteful, or both, I’m going to ignore half my research and just tell you that it was the wrong call. “I was going to buy eggs, but then escrow fell through” is the fault of the Biden administration, and it didn’t have to be that way.

I feel better now. But we’re both about to feel worse — if, like me, you have a minimum two-cup-a-day coffee habit.

As consumers, we’ve been lucky so far. Coffee, I learned today, is the second-most traded commodity after oil. If you want to know what the planet really runs on, it’s two very different kinds of black liquid, both packed full of energy. What it means for coffee drinkers is that the source and price of the cup you’re sipping right now were locked in months ago, maybe longer. What it also means is that as those futures expire and traders lock the new ones in, higher prices get locked in, too. Maybe much higher. Maybe double.

It’s already happening.

As Stephen goes on to detail, it is indeed—and for some of us, that’s terrifying. Personally, I share our old friend Steve’s view on the matter: eggs I can live without, coffee…ehh, not so much. I never have much enjoyed eggs unless they were scrambled, covered in shredded cheddar, and doused liberally with Tabasco, usually sharing a platter alongside a double order of hash browns scattered, smothered, covered, peppered, and diced at Waffle House during one of those bleary-eyed noontime “breakfast” stops as the band was heading out for the next town.

Denny’s, you ask? Don’t make me laugh.

Ever since eggs went from Source Of All Bad Things Including But Not Limited To Heart Attacks, Climate Change, and Raycissismism to Nature’s Perfect Food practically overnight, I’ve taken to hard-boiling the yucky things (NO runny yolks, not EVER), slicing them in half, and then sprinkling each half with Tony Chachere’s Creole seasoning before sending them down the hatch, one per day strictly to keep the doctor away. Go messing around with my beloved Luzianne w/ chicory, though, and me and you gon’ FIGHT.

Jurassic Media “big names” taking The Walk

This hurts me so, so much, I just…I just can’t even.

And Another One Gone: Veteran NBC News Anchor Heads for the Exit
Joyless (ok, I’ll be a good boy, her name is Joy) Reid is out at MSNBC. TrumpHating fanatic Jim Acosta was relegated to a dismal timeslot at CNN, so he took his ball and went home. He resigned and is now doing podcasts that have less production quality than “Wayne’s World.” Chris Wallace, who left Fox News for greener pastures at CNN, announced his departure from that network less than a week after Trump’s November election win. Norah O’Donnell “voluntarily” gave up the anchor chair made famous by fibbing Dan Rather, delivering her last broadcast on January 23. Former “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd left NBC in January.

They’re dropping like flies.

And now, there’s another one gone: after ten years manning the anchor’s desk at NBC News, Lester Holt is saying goodbye.

That’s a seriously scrumptious litany of shitlib “journolismist” luminaries up there in that first ‘graph, one sure to gladden the heart of any ReichWingNaziDeathBeast OG Blogger such as li’l ol’ moi. Keep the updates coming, Bob, I beg of you. As for the execrable Lester Holt: See ya, wouldn’t wanna BE ya, don’t let the door hit ya where the good Lord etc etc.

Update! And while we’re on the subject, an email update from the NY Post just came over the transom with further deets on KillJoy Reid’s Long Goodbye.

Joy Reid bid farewell as MSNBC hosts compare her show’s sudden cancellation to ‘losing a limb’ during emotional segment
Ousted MSNBC host Joy Reid welcomed her fellow network stars onto her canceled show during its last minutes on Monday night to bid her a final farewell and reflect on their time together.

The network announced the sudden cancellation of “The ReidOut” on Sunday night after four and a half years on the air.

Reid used her final hour on television for the foreseeable future to remind her audience about the importance of remaining vigilant and advocating against “fascism” as she welcomed MSNBC anchors Rachel Maddow, Nicolle Wallace, and Lawrence O’Donnell to the broadcast.

The show’s axing came amid restructuring at the network following former MSNBC President Rashida Jones’ departure and Rebecca Kutler’s take over. Reid’s show was also highly controversial following her frequent criticism of white people and focus on issues like Black Lives Matter, the Israel-Palestine conflict, immigration, and other polarizing topics.

Not a single damned one of which the stupid bint knows anything whatsoever about, mind.

The liberal host has also been a frequent critic of President Donald Trump, who even celebrated her show’s cancellation and deemed her an “obnoxious racist.”

Which, of course, is perfectly true and accurate.

Reid lauded Maddow for her praise and returned her compliments by unofficially knighting her as the network’s “fearless leader.”

Wallace went a step further and even equated Reid’s departure to “losing a limb.”

“And I think that my reaction to the end of ‘The ReidOut’ and your departure is despair. And the only thing that chips away at that for me, is that despair is the autocrat’s tool. It’s their most effective weapon. It costs nothing. It’s easy to deploy, it’s contagious. And then it puts in motion all the actions they want. Hopelessness. Isolation. Exasperation. Giving up. And so the only reason I will not wallow in what I feel about you leaving is, is because I think that’s what they want,” Wallace said.

Aww, the poor widdle dear. Cwy me a river, cupcake; get it alllll out, you’ll feel a lot better. Normally, I’m not one to recommend despair to anybody as a coping mechanism, but in your case I’m willing to make an exception, just this once.

A tragic loss

Hopefully only a temporary setback, but still truly horrible news from an old and dear friend.

“I cannot play guitar.” Rockabilly legend Brian Setzer reveals he has an auto-immune disease that prevents him from playing guitar
Setzer said the effects of his illness became apparent during the Stray Cats’ 2024 summer tour, the group’s first road stint in five years

Brian Setzer announced he has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that prevents him from playing guitar.

The rockabilly electric guitar legend made the news public on February 13 via Facebook:

Hi everybody,

I just wanted to check in with you all. Towards the end of the last Stray Cats tour I noticed that my hands were cramping up. I’ve since discovered that I have an auto-immune disease. I cannot play guitar.

There is no pain, but it feels like I am wearing a pair of gloves when I try to play. I have seen some progress in that I can hold a pen and tie my shoes. I know this sounds ridiculous, but I was at a point where I couldn’t even do that. Luckily, I have the best hospital in the world down the block from me. It’s called the Mayo Clinic. I know I will beat this, it will just take some time.

I love you all,

Brian

Although there is no cure for autoimmune diseases, their symptoms can be mitigated with a range of treatments. With any luck, Setzer will be able to play again soon.

Setzer is by the far the best-known and most successful rockabilly guitarist in rock and roll history. He first found success with the Stray Cats in the 1980s, when he helped relaunch the rockabilly genre decades after it has fallen from popularity.

“Rockabilly is so near and dear to my heart,” the guitarist told Guitar Player in 2023. “There’s just something exciting about it, and it never goes out of style. You can always add your own wrinkle to it and take it somewhere else.”

Truer words etc. Brian, I doubt you’ll ever see this, but in case you do please know that my thoughts, hopes, and prayers are with you, brother. You’re one of the very best guitarists I know or ever have known, so I know it’s a bitter pill indeed to have to swallow—Depuytren’s Contracture left me unable to play anything but the most rudimentary, primitive licks as of about 5-6 years ago or so myself—even moreso when music has been your life, for most of your life, as it has been for you and me both. Hang tough, never give up the fight; I just know your tremendous courage, determination, and strong heart will see you through in the end.

Update! A little inside-the-music story that illustrates one of the biggest reasons I think so highly of Setzer: my brother has always been quite close not only to Brian but the entire Setzer family, enough so that when Brian’s dad passed away the fam insisted on flying Jeff up from NC for the funeral. Myself, I’ve never met Brian’s dad OR mom, nor have I ever been out to the Setzer clan’s Old Home Place out on Lawn Guyland. Whereas Jeff, y’know, has.

Anyhoo, the thing that always got me was, ever since then each and every time I’ve run into Brian, opened for the BSO, whatever whenever wherever, the very first words out of Brian’s mouth to me have been, and I quote: “So how’s Jeff doing, Mike?” No exceptions, not a single one. That always impressed the heck out of me, made me feel good, and brought home forcefully what a decent, thoughtful, just plain good guy Brian is.

I gigged regularly with a half-assed little side-band trio in NYC which included oldest Setzer sibling Gary on drums for a year or thereabouts, and played little brother Kenny’s wedding after-party down in Miami with another side project of mine—a party Brian and his lovely wife also attended, hanging out at our big ol’ table drinking free open-bar booze and shooting the breeze with us well into the wee hours.

Now, for some bizarre reason I’ve been informed many times over lo, these many years—as is also the case with Mike Ness and, truth be told, my own self as well—by people I neither knew nor wished to know that “Ohhh, that Brian Setzer is such an asshole, what a dick!”

Who even knows the reason why, I certainly don’t. Some too-drunk chick trying (and failing) to coax him into a fast Green Room, tour bus, or parking lot fuck? A random dude who felt himself short-changed in the attention department in the impromptu post-show grip ’n’ grin line, perhaps? Don’t know, don’t care. In any event, you’ll never, ever get me to put a yes to that “Brian Setzer is an asshole” proposition. I know firsthand that it simply ain’t so.

Good luck and best wishes for a full and speedy recovery, Bri. God willing, you’ll pull through and have the last laugh on everybody ere the end.

The “Health” Racket

I must say I was kinda surprised to read Steyn’s take on all this. It wasn’t quite what I would’ve expected from him, although perhaps I should’ve.

I rejoice in the confirmation of RFK Jr as the US Secretary of Health and Human Services (no thanks to longtime Chinese asset Mitch McConnell). “Make America Healthy Again” is the indispensable component of “Make America Great Again” – because the most obvious sign of what’s gone wrong in the country is to take a walk down any main street. No one would bet the future on a country that has debauched its human capital the way the United States has.

As Bobby Kennedy pointed out on The Mark Steyn Show, Americans are the most medicated people on the planet and are the unhealthiest in the developed world; in particular, as RFK also noted on our show, our children are the world’s most medicated children, and have accelerating rates of childhood obesity, childhood diabetes, childhood heart disease. A grade-school diagnosis of diabetes can take up to two decades off your lifespan.

So what’s the answer? Further enriching Blue Cross-Blue Shield? Americans pay more for health care than anybody else, and have lousier outcomes, starting with the most basic indicator of all – life expectancy: According to the UN, from the Swiss to the Australians, the list of peoples that enjoy an extra half-decade of life over Americans lengthens year on year. In the 2023 UN rankings, the United States comes in at Number Fifty-Five on the life-expectancy Hit Parade; for purposes of comparison, Albania – where the men smoke seventy a day and accessing the health-care system requires swimming to Italy – is at Fifty-Three. By 2022 America’s annual spending on health care was twelve-and-a-half grand per capita; Albania’s was under five hundred bucks – which is less than your co-pay on a Covid anal swab; the word “co-pay” does not exist in Albanian.

Four years ago, we first had RFK Jr on the show mainly because no one else wants to talk about this. If you’re wondering why, it’s because his late friend Roger Ailes, of Fox News, told him that in non-election years three-quarters of Fox’s ad revenue comes from Big Pharma.

Five years ago, the state and the pharmaceutical companies joined forces for an unprecedented experiment on you – to damage almost every aspect of daily life, including even more damage to a generation of children. There has yet to be an accounting for that.

And THAT’s what really stings about this, at least for me. Although admittedly, the only way We The Peepul will ever get an accounting is to r’are up on our hind legs at long, long last and demand one. Not “request” one; not ask politely for one; not hold a referendum and vote on whether or not we’d like to have one at some later, unspecified date; but straight-up remind our “public servants” of their proper place in the grand scheme of things, get ‘em skeered and keep the skeer on ‘em, and inform them in no uncertain terms that there is by God going to be one, or we’re gonna damned well know the reason why not. T’was ever thus, ain’t nothing whatsoever new.

More, and even worserer:

I was also glad to see, in the above clip, RFK trash USAid, which was after all founded by his uncle. As noted earlier this week, it’s now a near parodic example of the racket that the federal government has made of everything it touches. According to the above-mentioned Daily Telegraph, Trump has only been in office for three weeks but he’s already killing grannies:

US aid freeze claims first victims as oxygen supplies cut off

Seventy-one-year-old woman dies after being sent home from USAID funded hospital.

This story is by Sarah Newey, the Telegraph’s “Global Health Security Correspondent” in Bangkok. In my day, the Telegraph didn’t have a “Global Health Security Correspondent” in Bangkok or anywhere else. It’s not funded by USAid, is it?

Oxygen isn’t really that expensive. A member of the Steyn team required it at an event in Colorado a couple of years back. It certainly isn’t that expensive if you’re the “International Rescue Committee” and have revenues of over a billion dollars per annum. Of course, like everyone else on the take from USAid, the International Rescue Committee pisses away a lot of its dough. It pays its president, David Milliband, over a million bucks a year. No, not Ed Milliband, the talentless prat who serves as His Majesty’s Secretary of State for Net Zero. This is his brother, David, the talentless prat who was British Foreign Secretary back in the Gordon Brown era and parlayed that into a seven-figure salary with this IRC racket. As I always say, the “non-profits” are where the big bucks are.

The racket goes on. Uniparty warmonger Victoria Nuland was last heard of on The Mark Steyn Show warning that the zillions of US-funded biolabs in Ukraine could easily fall into Russian hands. Why are American taxpayers outsourcing gain-of-function to Kharkiv and Odessa? Well, they’re world-renowned experts in developing a new strain of monkeypox with fewer homophobic overtones…

The good news is that the all-war-all-the-time queen, who’s even more bloodsoaked than David Milliband, has just been appointed to the board of the “National Endowment for Democracy”. Ms Nuland is an expert in democracy, having ended it in Ukraine. “NED” was founded back in the Eighties, at taxpayer expense, to “export the American way of governance” – so that every nation may enjoy the blessings of paying former foreign parliamentarians a seven-figure salary to kill l’il ol’ ladies.

That’s the point. Whether you’re a Thai gran’ma, a Ukrainian infantryman or a New Hampshire grade-schooler, Nuland-Milliband-Big Pharma government is killing you. I wish RFK and the other Trump 47-iconoclasts all the best.

As should we all, whether we find Trump’s personal swashbuckling, over the top style grating or not.

Yeah, let’s don’t and say we did

I have to say, on this one I hope he IS just bluffing.

Trump is ‘not bluffing’ on Gaza takeover, will do ‘what it takes,’ sources close to prez say
WASHINGTON — President Trump’s threat to take over the Gaza Strip is not a “bluff,” sources close to the White House told The Post Thursday.

“The president is absolutely serious,” one White House official stressed.

The conversations have been in the works for months, meaning Trump was negotiating a solution for the Hamas-controlled land strip at war with Israel before his term began.

Steve Witkoff — Trump’s Middle East envoy — has played an influential part in the planning, a second source familiar with the internal discussions on the matter said, and White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed.

Witkoff developed his longtime friendship with Trump making billions in real estate investing and development in New York City. He traveled to Israel to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the final days of the Biden administration, which the Trump administration says played a key part in securing a hostage release deal between Israel and Hamas.

“Absolutely” Trump would be willing to take US control of Gaza, the source said.

“If that’s what it takes. He’s also creating a sense of urgency to end the status quo. And if Gulf States don’t like his plan then they should come up with their own and take more ownership of the situation. But the fact is that the status quo is a disaster,” the source added.

It IS a disaster, has always BEEN a disaster, and, unless and until some Western leader somehow scrapes up the stones to say “enough already” and start in killing Paleosimian Mooselimbs in job lots, will always BE a disaster. In the wise words of Gen Curtis LeMay, albeit in a different context: “if you kill enough of them, they stop fighting.” Truer words were never spoken.

That said, no way can I see OMB’s proposal turning out to be anything but a YUUUUGE mistake and an enormous catastrophe for the US all around. All Trump really needs to do at this point is to just step back, keep his mouth shut, and let Netanyahu get on with the business at hand. The only thing Trump can conceivably accomplish by interjecting himself and his nation into “Palestine” will be to set the stage for an encoure of 1983’s Beirut Marine Barracks bombing, if not something even worse. I’m sure he means well, but this next bit underlines how hopelessly misguided Trump’s thinking is on this whole rotten deal.

Some Republicans have raised eyebrows at the possibility of getting entangled in a foreign conflict and putting American troops in harm’s way in the Middle East. Trump first said he would not rule out putting US boots on the ground, but then said, “no soldiers by the US would be needed.”

“The Gaza Strip would be turned over to the United States by Israel at the conclusion of fighting. The Palestinians, people like Chuck Schumer, would have already been resettled in far safer and more beautiful communities, with new and modern homes, in the region,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“No soldiers by the US would be needed?” It is to laugh, sorry. By “in the region,” natch, Trump means Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia—all of whom have for decades now been steadfastly, flatly rejecting any notion of permitting those poor, put-upon Paleosimians to be “resettled” anywhere within their borders, in no uncertain terms. Which, y’know, they still are. Clearly, they and their fellow Arab Moslem nations want no part of them, haven’t the least intention of taking them in, and have never pussyfooted around about saying so, either.

Unless his plan involves a wing of A10 Thunderbolt IIs saturation-bombing the hellhole until not one brick is left standing on another, the best thing Trump can possibly offer is a shrug, a rueful smile, a palms-up hand gesture wordlessly expressing to one and all, “Hey, I tried, whatcha gonna do,” then a blanket endorsement for Netanyahu to finish the bloody job at long last. A final pertinent quote which spells out exactly what it is we’re dealing with here:

Judgement Day will not come until the Muslims fight the Jews. The Jews will hide behind the stones and the trees, and the stones and the trees will say, oh Muslim, oh servant of Allah, there is a Jew hiding behind me — come and kill him.

That, of course, is one of the more unpleasantly blood-curdling Hadiths culled from the Muzzrats’ hateful little murder-book, the subject of innumerable sermons in mosques scattered across the West, an uncompromisingly vicious mindset ubiquitous throughout not only “Palestine” but the Middle East entire. Which ought to tell any sentient being all he needs to know about this eternal conflict, and whence it really springs.

Just a bluff? A mere opening gambit to clear the decks for purposes of implementing a broader agenda, mayhap, to be cast aside with alacrity the instant its usefulness as a bargaining chip has expired? I pray that it is, but fear that it is not. If it isn’t, hopefully some trusted personage in Trump’s inner circle who has the Boss’s ear will step up and persuade the President that he needs to just quietly let this profoundly bad idea go by the wayside without further ado.

Update! A “pact with the devil,” John Hale calls the misbegotten ceasefire agreement with Hamas, and I couldn’t agree more.

THE world waited to see who would be the first three hostages Hamas released to Israel. Would they be alive, or already dead? Would they include the baby Kfir Bibas, whose second birthday was on Saturday, the day before the start of phase one of the ceasefire agreement and hostage/prisoner exchange?

Hamas are playing despicable and cruel mind games with the population of Israel in general, and the families of the hostages in particular – in how they release those poor abused souls who are still living, and the cold bodies of those they have murdered. And as the next six weeks of prolonged, drawn-out releases continue, the greater that psychological torture will be for the families still awaiting the release of their loved ones. It is expected that the living will be released first. My guess is that the Bibas family will be among the last, if not the last, hostages to be handed over.

The first hostages released were Emily Damari, Doron Steinbrecher and Romi Gonen, three young women who have spent a year and three months suffering in the dank, dark, suffocating terror tunnels beneath Gaza. Abused and assaulted, not knowing what their fate would be, clinging to life. Emily is British, yet the British government were barely interested in her plight as they were too concerned about appeasing the Muslim vote in the UK rather than being seen to support a Jew above the cause of the ‘Palestinian resistance’.

Hamas made a spectacle of the release. Heavily armed terrorists in full Hamas uniform kept the handover under control for the cameras while Palestinian civilians crowded in, shouting abuse and spitting at the young hostages.

After the six long weeks of phase one have elapsed, will there still be a ceasefire and further hostage releases possible, or will Hamas have violated the agreement forced on both Israel and Hamas by Donald Trump, eager to make a big impact on day one of his second presidency? Can a second phase be negotiated at all? There is much more work to be done before all hostages are released, and a permanent ceasefire attained.

The next phase of negotiations will take place during this phase one hostage release, where in exchange for 33 hostages of unknown status (dead or alive), Israel is to release nearly 2,000 terrorists and detainees, including more than 700 prisoners who between them are responsible for the murders of around 2,500 Israeli men, women and children.

In the meantime, rest assured that Hamas will keep pushing the boundaries of the current phase one agreement, flexing their propaganda muscles to keep their worldwide fan base enthused by their ‘resistance’. Just 12 hours before the ceasefire was supposed to begin, Hamas broke the terms of the agreement by not naming the first three hostages to be released. They did eventually give the names, well after the cut-off time, and after Benjamin Netanyahu halted the start of the agreement in response.

There are celebrations in Gaza and elsewhere, proclaiming this agreement as a victory for Hamas, and as a signal that murder and hostage-taking works and will be repeated. This deal is a pact with the Devil; any deal with Islamic terrorists is such. It encourages further terror, putting innocent people at risk worldwide – because this Islamic ‘struggle’ is for world domination, for a global Caliphate and the imposition of Islam and Sharia on every living soul.

Indeed so, right down the line. Again: I couldn’t agree more with Hale’s astute, clear-eyed evaluation of this patently raw deal.

Queers, trannies, et al for “Palestine”

Oh, how I wish the depraved freakazoids would scurry on over to Gaza en masse to “support” their Paleosimian brethren and see how THAT works out for ‘em.

Secret Hamas docs reveal torture, execution of gay terrorists — while some male Oct. 7 Israeli victims were raped in captivity
Hamas tortured and executed terrorists within its ranks who allegedly had gay sex, shocking documents show — as sources added some male Israeli victims of the Oct. 7 massacre were raped in captivity.

Because of COURSE they were.

The Iranian proxy terror group had a running list of recruits who were found to have failed Hamas’ “morality checks” by having same-sex relations — and they paid a heavy price, according to documents recovered by the Israel Defense Forces and shared with The Post.

The documents reveal the “crimes” that were allegedly committed by 94 Hamas recruits — lumping “homosexual conversations,” “flirting with girls without a legal relationship” and “sodomy” in with serious allegations of child rape and torture.

The allegations, dated between 2012 and 2019, involve recruits to Hamas’ intelligence, military and interior ministry and say the new members were eventually deemed “unacceptable” to continue working with the terror group because of their actions.

Another allegation said, “He has romantic relationships on Facebook. He never prays. He is behaviorally and morally deviant,” using Hamas jargon for being gay.

It is unclear what happened to the recruits identified as “unacceptable” to Hamas, but homosexuality is illegal in Gaza and can result in years of prison — and even death.

I must admit, I am quite surprised to learn that there’s anything at all the Hamas swine find “unacceptable” in their ranks.

Another “Known wolf”

Not-Great Britainistan takes another bold, bloody step down the highway to Hell.

Say what you like about Axel Rudakubana, the slaughterer of three English girls under ten years old, but – unlike the British Prime Minister, the Home Secretary, the Liverpool Police and most of the court eunuchs in the UK media – he appears to be an honest man:

It’s a good thing those children are dead… I am so glad… I am so happy.

He has always been entirely upfront about such things, telephoning Britain’s so-called “Childline” and asking them:

What should I do if I want to kill somebody?

Judging from his many interactions with “the authorities” (including with the laughably misnamed “Prevent” programme), the British state’s response boiled down to: Go right ahead!

It seems likely that the perpetrator of Wednesday’s Diversity Stabbing of the Day – the Afghan “asylum seeker” who killed a two-year-old boy and seriously wounded other infants in the Bavarian town of Aschaffenburg – is also “so happy”. Like Mr Rudakubana, the “asylum seeker” deliberately targeted a gathering of the very young – in this case, a kindergarten group playing in a municipal park. Like Mr Rudakubana, the “asylum seeker” did not just deliver sufficient stab wounds to kill: he plunged his knife into each target dozens and dozens of times. Like Mr Rudakubana, the “asylum seeker” was well known to the authorities: he had been detained for “violence” at least thrice.

The accompanying photo of this wretched lunatic is about as chilling as anything you’re ever likely to see.

What can one say, but: YIKES! ”Amazon killer,” no less—as if the real problem here isn’t the mass immivasion of crazed, bloodthirsty Mooselimbs at all, but the ready availablity of assorted cutlery items from various Innarnuts outlets. Steyn cuts to the chase.

It’s Islam. We all know that – and by “all” I mean everyone except politicians, policemen, reporters and baronesses.

Not all Islam, of course, but enough that, in the UK, France, Germany, anywhere west of the Czech Republic, there will be more stabbings in your future. Perhaps one day even members of the political class will be stabbed. Oh, no, wait, that already happened. In 2021 Sir David Amess was stabbed multiple times by a – go on, take a wild guess – that’s right, a Somali Muslim …and Sir David’s fellow MPs and alleged “friends” rose as one to dishonour him in death and attribute his murder to the increasing incivility in public discourse. If Sir Keir Stürmer were to be stabbed by someone who’d mistaken him for a six-year-old girl, I have no doubt that his successor would immediately announce that it was “a total disgrace” that knives were steeply discounted at Poundland.

It’s mass migration in general, and Islam more specifically: Go to Hungary, or even Ukraine – and wait for your daily Diversity Stabbing.

But Peter Lynch died in gaol, and Keir Stabber is still at liberty. The latter has now blamed the Southport carnage on “young men in their bedrooms” – which Rod Liddle amusingly took as prefiguring a crackdown on masturbation. But it’s not really funny, is it? Because Sir Keir is, as a practical matter, an accomplice of the stabbers and gang rapists. He would rather your pre-adolescent daughter gets anally branded and your kindergartner dies from up to 122 stab wounds than permit the citizenry to dissent from the state ideology that “diversity is our strength”. Which, as a practical matter, means that those who would destroy our society retain a monopoly of violence.

For as long as that lasts.

I watched the images from California – of flames consuming the entirety of Pacific Palisades, and regretted that it was not Whitehall. This is truly Orwellian: war is peace, freedom is slavery, Islamic enforcement is diversity, passivity is strength, making a fuss about stabbed and raped girls is far-right hate speech…

I feel the exactly same way about Mordor on the Potomac, Mark.

Suicide solution

I’vre had this one sitting in the hopper waiting for me to get around to it for over a week now. It was worth the wait, I promise.

Great and sobering read.

From a published SF brother!

First stop calling it a swamp to be drained! It’s a septic tank, that needs a giant flush and DOJ- FBI-CIA-DIA-ETC need a giant enema, DOGE. Let’s say 30% from top day one POTUS45-47!

Please call me back to help Sec Def, slash Special Forces, and sea pigs (squeals). Just saying….old school PT for unit selection and 10 mile run in kit, first five with everything, you need for week prior in winter desert, at five mile dump, to LBE and weapons. Bottom 30 percent of team guys gone, all chicks and chicks with dicks (gender confused).

“ I am quite sure the event in Las Vegas has shaken us all, if for no other reason that none of it appears to make any sense. The principle of Occam’s razor is that when searching for an answer to an event or circumstance, the simplest explanation is more likely over any complex set of possibilities. Bearing that in mind, the thing in Vegas is either a conspiracy so weird and convoluted it makes every crazy Kennedy assassination conspiracy theory look completely sane and plausible, or . . . the guy was bonkers . . . I’m going with bonkers.

It was inevitable that people would start repeating the “22-a-day” mantra, especially considering its looking more and more like a deliberate suicide. I hate suicide – it is so destructive and unnecessary; a permanent solution to a temporary problem that permanently affects everyone around it.

Regarding the “22-a-day” thing – can we ever put that to rest? It has never been 22 a day, it never was – not even after the worst wars we had: Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam. The 22-a-day number is a completely flawed statistic derived from the VA taking a sample of numbers (from an incomplete and inaccurate sample set) and extrapolating it out, then the Left-Leaning Lamestream Media taking that number and running with it to prove that all us veterans are a pack of crazy Rambos – an extension of the old “Vietnam Flashback” myth (which they also made up) which validates their view that America is bad because America makes wars that turn all veterans into ticking time bombs.

Where “22-a-day” came from: The statistics come from the VA’s 2012 Suicide Data Report. The VA analyzed death certificates from 21 states from 1999-2011. Looking at the certificates, they identified which individuals were veterans and came up with 22% of all suicides were by veterans within those 21 states. They then extrapolated that number to the national number of suicides (~38,000), divided by 365.25 for days in a year, and voila: “22-a-day”!

Issues with this:

    • The statistical sample did not include California or Texas, the two states with the largest veteran populations

    • Does not account that the majority of veterans (67.7%) are over the age of 55

    • Not all deaths are correctly identified as suicides

    • Hunting accidents and/or accidental shootings (cleaning weapons etc) may be listed as suicide but are not the same thing as an intentional suicide

Not all veterans are the same – here are some numbers:

    • 18.2 million veterans, 5.5% of the US population, 7.25% of US population aged 18+

    • 3.5 million post-9/11 veterans, 19.4% of veteran population

    • 1.6 million veterans aged 18-34, 8.9% of veteran population

But not all veterans are the same, and not all suicides are the same:

A WWII vet who served 3 years and went through the horrors of the D-Day landings, Battle of the Bulge etc, is not the same thing as a guy who served in admin or support and never saw a shot fired in anger, who is not the same as a post-Vietnam/GWOT guy who did 20 years in combat arms with multiple combat tours, who is not the same as a guy who did less than 2 years and got kicked out as a private E-1 for being a substandard soldier, dope smoker whatever – but statistically they are all veterans.

A suicide by a WWII or Korean War vet in his 90s suffering from cancer who just wants to end the pain is not the same thing as a young vet in his 20s or 30s distraught from any number of life events (divorce, alcoholism, etc) plus the effects of PTSD and/or clinical depression, and not at all the same thing as the substandard individual who barely served and ended his life for whatever reason that had absolutely nothing to do with his minimal time in service.

Any suicide is a tragic thing – even one is too many. However, taking all of the above into consideration, the real number of veteran suicides among the post-Vietnam/GWOT generation is closer to 2 a week.

Unlike the last email I ran, I actually did get permission from the sender to run this one. Thanks for that, Doc, I do appreciate ya. Been having some problems of late with the Brave browser running slow as molasses in the Alaskan tundra in January, which caused me to hold off on posting this until I got a chance to look into the matter. Thankfully, I believe I have that pettifogging little issue resolved now.

My one and probably only post on the Cali wildfires

I’m with John Ringo.

Eat of it indeed. Via Ragin’ Dave, who adds:

Just for the record, I agree with this 100%. I do not care how many people lose homes in Los Angeles. Especially in Pacific Palisades, or Malibu, or Santa Monica. Because I’ve lived in LA, I’ve been to those areas, and I know without a single doubt that damn near every single person living there, with a few exceptions here and there, voted for Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass. They voted for the people who defunded the fire department. They voted for the people who fired the firefighters who refused to get the jab. They voted for the governor and his cronies who refused to fill the reservoirs. They voted for DEI instead of competence, they voted for Marxism instead of something that actually works, they voted for all of this. They voted for the regulations that prevented the fire base from being cut back. They voted for the empty fire hydrants.

They voted for everything that is now afflicting them.

Yep, that’s about the size of it. Read the rest. I say again: some of us live and learn. Others just live, and never learn.
