A testing of mettle

Fuck around. Find out.

MOB JUSTICE: Judge, jurors threatened in Rittenhouse, Daunte Wright trials
In recent days, BLM and antifa activists have issued threats to the Judge presiding over Kyle Rittenhouse’s trial as well as the jurors. Kyle Rittenhouse was charged with multiple counts of homicide as well as unlawful possession of a firearm in the wake of Black Lives matter riots in Kenosha. Since the beginning of the trial, activists have attempted to doxx jurors as well as the judge. Businesses in Kenosha have already started preparing for potential unrest following the verdict, with police increasing their presence in and around the courthouse during the trial.

George Floyd’s nephew, Cortez Rice, has issued veiled threats to the jurors in the Kyle Rittenhouse case, with the support of Unicorn Riot, an antifa affiliated organization. “I ain’t even gonna name the people that I know that’s up in the Kenosha trial,” Rice said. “But it’s cameras in there. It’s definitely cameras up in there. There’s definitely people taking pictures of the juries and everything like that. We know what’s going on.” “so we need the same results, man.” said Rice in a video released today. Rice has a history of intimidating jurors and judges in prominent cases, coordinating with antifa and BLM activists. In the Daunte Wright case, Rice located the apartment of the female judge presiding over the case and stood outside the door of her home.

I have to say, Sh’Qw’onzellationabloobalubu—may I call you Sh’Qw’onzellationabloobalubu?—that I agree with you completely. We do indeed need the same results, man. Which I interpret as Yo’ ign’ant, woithless ayess lyin’ in da muhfuggin’ skreet, bleedin’ the fuck out. Nomesayn, muh niggah? DASS wussup! A good, stiff dose of what I think I’m gonna call The Rittenhouse Cure would be just the thing to put you right, Sh’Qw’onzellationabloobalubu…once and for all.

Rittenhouse faces multiple felony charges in the aftermath of the unrest in Kenosha. Prosecutors have attempted to build a case against Rittenhouse by portraying him as reckless and aggressive, while the defense has produced evidence of violent intent on the part of protesters who chased Rittenhouse down. Witnesses have testified that Joseph Rosenbaum, one of the shooting victims in the Rittenhouse case, issued death threats to Rittenhouse, “If I catch any of you guys alone tonight I’m going to f—ing kill you!” a key witness testified in the case.

The below Tweet includes a vid of Sh’Qw’onzellationabloobalubu running his stupid mouth about “juss’uss ‘n’ shit,” who knows or cares. Yes, he looks, dresses, and speaks EXACTLY as you’d expect he would.

Yeah, civilized Whypeepuh ought to be able to live peaceably cheek-by-jowl with THIS primordial knuckledragger, don’tchathink? The question before us is, are we sure we really want to? Sadly, terrifyingly even, the issue here is much bigger than just that, and Miguel at GFZ knows exactly what it is.

This is the end of our judicial system.

Conviction in court obtained by mob coercion of the jury.

We must protect our juries at all costs or we might as well cut out the middle man and go straight to trial by Twitter poll.

Little late for that, I’m afraid. Any system this thoroughly rotten can only be razed to the ground, then rebuilt from scratch. But there’s an even larger, more fiercely-burning issue yet, in my own estimation. Now as it happens, I’ve been struggling over lo, the past several days to finish up a post on the Rittenhouse trial which spells it all out as well as I’ll ever be able to. Thus I shall shameless quote myself:

I’m just gonna come right out and say it: When Rittenhouse is unjustly convicted and harshly sentenced—as he will be, have no doubt whatsoever about that—I hope to God that there will be a massive, nationwide uprising in response. No, I ain’t kidding. I’d think it a joyous occasion if very urban shithole coast to coast got itself well and truly trashed as retribution for the up-close-and-personal destruction by the State of yet another of our own whose only real offense was his refusal to kneel in submission to the day’s prevailing PC platitudes and shibboleths, in defense of a young life the PCPTB regards as without value. If the cities burned in precise proportion to the damage wrought by last year’s “mostly peaceful” Saint George Of Fentanyl gatherings, I’d celebrate with a nice, stiff drink the night the deal went down, watching on TeeWee and laughing myself sick.

Everybody on this side of the Great Schism needs to fully square themselves with the implacable reality that Kyle Rittenhouse is by no means the only one on trial here. In a way that closely parallels Heritage America’s relationship with Donald Trump, Kyle isn’t just some lone, random kid who got his butt caught in the blades of Amerikan dysfunction, an unfortunate predicament for him but of no real import to the rest of us. We may find his fate unsettling, unconscionable, perhaps unacceptable. But for some, the whole mess has kind of a faraway feel about it, as being not a thing that we need to be concerned about just yet. I mean, yeah, it’s terrible thing, I know. You gotta hate it for the boy’s parents, how awful this must be for them. But ultimately, it’s not really our problem, right?

Wrong. What Kyle has become, now, today, this very moment, is a symbol. What we have here before us is a heretofore unassuming, ordinary Joe who was suddenly transmogrified by extraordinary circumstances into a representational stand-in for EVERY Heritage American, in both body and spirit—an unlooked-for bolt out of the blue that blasted him into a role I strongly suspect he’d be very uncomfortable with, and wholly unhappy about.

And lest you believe you could never find yourself in circumstances similar to the one that has forever altered Kyle’s life—forced to employ lethal measures so as to preserve your very existence against marauding, lawless proto-simians, whether singly or in a mob—you are completely, dangerously mistaken. Even a fairly inattentive observer of current events could put you wise to the unpleasant facts on the ground, and probably ought to. Hell, a brief look in on any evening Teewee “news” show, dishonest and unreliable as they all are, might do the trick.

So here we all are, then: officially up to our clavicles in the Real, the Bad, and the Scary, folks. Kyle Rittenhouse should not, MUST NOT be abandoned to face alone the full might of the self-same Enemy who is certain to turn his Lidless Eye on the rest of us once he’s been allowed to destroy Rittenhouse without some serious opposition. Kyle is the personification of absolutely everything the wholesome, clean-living, responsible young American ought to be. Consider also that, his derring-do and extreme competence aside, the guy is after all just a kid. Then ask yourself: Can we really be the kind of people who would sit passively back and allow the vicious, soulless Left Establishment machine to sink its talons into him and rip him into bloody gobbets unchallenged? Can we blandly tolerate a guiltless youth being thrown into prison for the rest of his natural life in punishment for actions that are, in practical and moral terms, entirely justified?

In Patrick Henry’s immortal words: Forbid it, Almighty God! Many of our less-patient compatriots have fretted themselves into near-despair over what fresh outrage might be the one to spur their hesitant fellows to action at long, long last. What, they’ve lamented, will be our Hill Worth Dying On? Do we even have one at all, or no? In answer, I hereby nominate the Flensing of Kyle Rittenhouse as a worthy for the title of that Ultimate Hill. There are plenty of reasons in support of the idea, not least of which is what our response to this balls-out mockery of justice should it come to pass—flaccid or vigorous, forceful or feeble—will tell The Enemy about us. What unspeakable atrocities are likely to be inspired by his newly gleaned knowledge of our character and courage should we prove ourselves lacking in those qualities, with a shrug of our collective shoulders and an averting of our eyes, while the aggregation of slavering monsters utterly destroys another of us without retaliation? Will we embolden the Enemy further by backing down to let him have his awful way with one of our own AGAIN? Or will we stand firm this time and refuse him another unearned victory?

We’ll learn soon enough what we’re truly made of, looks like.

A different view

Earlier I dismissed the Vichy GOPe’s Va win as “self-evidently meaningless,” and I meant it too. Eric Peters begs to differ, and could be he has a point.

It looks like the standard-bearer of the Woke Authoritarian Left (WAL) will not be anointed as Virginia’s next governor. Of course, this may change as new “ballots” are discovered – but for the moment, a respite.

Not because the other guy (apparently) won. Rather, because it appears that WAL suffered a significant repudiation. Even in Northern Virginia, where the WAL appeared to be in full control – of everything.

And got too publicly cocky about it.

The Clinton’s buck-toothed  donkey lost – again, apparently – not because a sufficiency of voters were enthused about Glenn Youngkin, a Republican cut from the same cloth as Mitt Romney. Rather, the Clinton’s donkey lost because he brayed too loudly, too openly about such things as parents of kids in government schools needing to shut up, sit down and let the WAL put boys who dress like girls freely enter the actually girls’ bathrooms and lecture kids of both sexes who happen to be white that they are intrinsically oppressive to “people of color. “

Youngkin is not likely to restore the Bill of Rights in Virginia. But that misses the point of this election.

WAL lost – in a state presumed to be its fief-perpetual. WAL may have lost another state – New Jersey (as this is written early post-election day, the NJ race is too close to call) which is a loss for the WAL even if the WAL’s candidate – the sitting governor – clings to his office.

The tide is turning.

The country resonates with chants of Let’s Go Brandon! It is driving the WAL batty because it is a barometer of that changing tide. The WAL has been using the strategy pioneered by the WAL’s founder – Vladimir Lenin. He knew you win by presuming you are the majority, which you achieve by belittling and demoralizing the actual majority.

He literally seized the name – majority – for his minority cabal of original gangster Woke Authoritarian Leftists, styling them bolsheviks, which in the Russian language means…majority. Which conferred upon his radical minority a false legitimacy. The Bolsheviks – as their party became known – seized control as the representatives of “the people.” In fact, they represented a tiny minority of the populace. Indeed, many of them weren’t even Russians – as the imprisoned Russian dissident Alexander Solzhenitsyn would note in his Gulag Archipelago.

Today’s WAL has been using the same technique – with great effect because its membership controls what is styled the “mainstream” media, which includes social media such as Facebook and Twitter. Which the WAL has used to create a false impression of majority-hood.

By suppressing the majority.

Those who offend the WAL’s sensitivities are disappeared – not by goon squads hauling people off into the night but via the less overt method of cancelling them. Their mouths are electronically muzzled (an interesting parallel there with the Face Diapers also pushed by the WAL) and their persons isolated thereby, causing them to believe they are at odds with the…majority. This stifling effect ripples through the general population, making the majority feel themselves a displaced minority, obsolete and in the way.

It worked – superficially – for quite some time.

Most people may not be libertarian – yet! – but they are not Woke. And the more the WAL’s tyranny of the minority is rejected, the more the majority inches toward the libertarian point-of-view. This evolution is inevitable for just that reason. As people reason it out, they begin to see.

The rejection of the vicious authoritarianism of the Left implies a repudiation of authoritarianism, as such – because authoritarianism is always and inherently vicious. Psychologically normal people begin to see that.

Take heart!

And Let’s Go Brandon!

Take heart indeed. There is plenty of cause for concern, yes—plenty and to spare. But we must NEVER yield to despair.

Update! I repeat: No opportunity to rub shitlib noses in their own shit ought ever to be passed up. Ever.

Dear Leftists,

Let’s be clear: Tuesday’s election wasn’t about us, it was about you. It was about putting a stop to your failed American Marxist policies that have been fundamentally transforming and dividing our country by race, class, and ideology. We see it, but, unsurprisingly, you don’t.

Voters—across not only on the dark blue east, but the midwest and Texas too—resoundingly and decisively rejected what you’re selling at all levels of government. Tellingly, though, rather than taking some time for introspection to consider why you lost, we see you’re immediately doubling down on those very same failed policies…

Follows, a Tweet from some doltish twat claiming that the big problem for the Demonrats isn’t with their “messaging,” but that “This country simply loves white supremacy.” At this time, it remains unclear just why the actual fucking fuck this parasitic bint hasn’t long since departed these unspeakably racist shores to shag her Brown Sugah ass on back to De Motherlan’ for good. I do so enjoy this sizzling rejoinder to all that sniveling race-pimpery, not that it will have any effect on those most in need of the schooling.

That, of course, is the entirely awesome Winsome Sears: former Gyrine, outspoken Gun Gal, and soon to be Va’s new Lt Gov. I consider Sears to be the most salutary result of the whole shebang, not least because of how very many shitlib shibboleths she righteously upends just by simply existing as the person she is.

“I am at a loss for words for the first time in my life,” she told supporters. “I am here because of you. I’m here because you voted for me. I’m here because you put your trust in me. Thank you, thank you.”

“I’m telling you that what you are looking at is the American dream. The American dream. When my father came to this country on August 11, 1963. He came at the height of the civil rights movement,” she said. “He came from Jamaica. I said to him, ‘why did you come?’ He said, ‘because America was where the jobs and the opportunities were.’”

She explained that her father arrived in the U.S. with $1.75 in his pocket, taking any job he could find and putting himself through school so he could enjoy the American Dream.

“He came and got me when I was six years old, and when I stepped onto that PanAm Boing 737 and landed at JFK, I landed in a new world. And so let me tell you this,” she said. “I am not even a first-generation American. When I joined the Marine Corps I was still a Jamaican. But this country had done so much for me I was willing—willing to die for this country.”

“U-S-A! U-S-A!” she chanted, as the crowd enthusiastically joined in.

She’s a-okay with me. Read all about her here; Sears has lots more to say, every word of it pure gold. Anyways, several ‘graphs deeper into the pre-digression post above we arrive at what was almost certainly the biggest single reason Va Demonrats got their empty heads cut last night.

When leftist candidates said over and over that parents shouldn’t have a say in their children’s education and bureaucrats called them “domestic terrorists” while siccing the federal government on them, America’s parents were listening. While leftists locked us down; closed our schools, churches, and places of employment; tried to force us to mask and vaccinate; and taught our kids to hate this country, their own gender, and even us, American voters were listening. On Tuesday, American voters spoke loudly and clearly not about racism, but about woke-ism.

The truth is you lost many seats on Tuesday but more than that, your leftist ideas lost. Your ideas are extreme, divisive, tired, and failed. America is indeed tired of the left’s American Marxism.

It’s not us, it’s you, and may God Bless Red America.

Damned skippy. For what it’s worth I believe Sims, among others, is reading way too much into this than the facts will ultimately bear, for all sorts of reasons I won’t go into for the nonce. But that’s okay; there’s plenty of butthurt to go around in Progtardia today, which is never a bad thing.

Updated update! A small victory that could very well end up being a truly meaningful one.

A Massachusetts teacher who was forced to resign after photos of him at the Capitol on January 6 were shared online has won a seat on the district’s school board.

The former Braintree High School teacher Matthew Lynch, 35, was visited by the FBI during his campaign.

Lynch resigned in February after working at the school for approximately ten years.

In his resignation letter to the school, Lynch wrote about how his military experience has left him very concerned about the direction of our nation.

“My military experience as an Intelligence Analyst has given me unique perspective on what is currently going on in both our country and our town and I fear we are heading on a real collision course,” Lynch continued in the letter. “I feel I need to make my voice heard in the town of Braintree but in doing so will have unintended side effects which will be completely unfair to my students.”

The former teacher explained to the outlet that he believes in Braintree schools and believes that they are “worth fighting for.”

“There is a revolution in education going on right now. More and more kids will be leaving public schools for private, Catholic or homeschooling, which will have a negative effect on Braintree’s schools. I love Braintree Schools and I believe they are worth fighting for, so we have to show parents why Braintree Schools is the place for their children.”

On Tuesday, Lynch won.

Good on ya, Teach. Here’s hoping you can make your presence felt up there in the People’s Republic of Massachussetts, in whatever way you’re able. May the example set by your dauntless will to win serve as inspiration to us all.

Update to the updated update! Okay, I confess I did NOT see this coming.

RICHMOND, VA—Tuesday seemed to be a banner day for Republicans. They won a huge victory in Virginia, and without the involvement of former President Donald Trump. Perhaps the Republicans had turned a new leaf.

But it was all a ruse.

As Youngkin gave his victory speech, he pulled off his mask and revealed that he had, in fact, been Donald Trump all along. “Hello, haters and losers!” Trump yelled. “I win again! Now I’m president of this state! Forty-nine more to go!”

“See?! I told you!” screamed Terry MacAuliffe from the crowd. “I told you that electing Youngkin was basically electing Trump! I told you!”

“Shut up, loser!” Trump responded. “I never came up with a nickname for you. It’s Terrible Terry. That’s your name now.” He looked at the rest of the crowd. “Now you’ll never get rid of me! Never!”

Moderate Republicans who had supported Youngkin in the race were inconsolable. “We thought it was okay to vote Republican since they were moving on from Trump,” sobbed Bryant Patton, a Never Trumper. “I just thought the Lincoln Project and Bill Kristol were weird grifters and/or pedophiles, but I should have listened to them and just voted for Democrats who hate and despise me instead of the Republican.”

Trump, though, was ready to get to work, first trying to find how he could get access to the Virginia governor’s Twitter account.

Reports of Pelousi immediately scheduling US House impeachment hearings for an unprecedented fourth time are almost certainly true.

Updates, forsooth! The Last Sane Democrat sounds off.

Yes, she’s a Democrat. Yes, she still hews to some shitlib beliefs like gun control, or as far as I know she does. Nonetheless, I still kinda like her.

The Thrubbles, American-style

Alarming parallels.

The Irish Troubles is one of six models I’ve identified that could have (loosely) an American equivalent.

Of course, I’m not talking about Catholics versus Protestants, but a sectarian conflict featuring sporadic armed political violence where the government’s primary mission is peacekeeping followed by counterterrorism.

The Irish Troubles resulted in over 50,000 casualties and 3,500 deaths over a 30-year span (1969-1998). Armed violence was widespread across Northern Ireland, but this map illustrating the deaths of civilians and British Security Forces gives us a good glimpse of where casualty-producing attacks occurred.

One of my key assumptions for this model remains that armed political volence would be geographically limited. I wouldn’t expect much from, say, central Nebraska or northern Alabama, for instance, just like many areas of Northern Ireland had very few instances of armed violence over a 30-year span. I expect most places to remain… well, pretty quiet as far as fighting is concerned. (Criminality is another matter!)

A few things… First, civilian deaths are roughly equal to deaths of all belligerents. High civilian casualties are the norm for domestic conflicts, going all the way back to at least the 1500s. As French Renaissance philosopher Michel de Montaigne (1532-1592) observed, “In truth a forraine warre is nothing so dangerous a disease as a civill.”

Second, while the 1970s were by far the most violent, war-related deaths continued to stack up over the following decades. The total death toll of 3,483 works out to an average of 116 deaths per year, or roughly one death every three days. For 30 years. Low intensity conflicts, especially insurgencies and guerrilla wars, are often protracted. Nothing happening in the United States today signals that our own domestic conflict would be short lived.

Third, I’m still compiling the numbers of fighters as a percentage of the overall populace. The end result will show that a small percentage was actively engaged in the fighting at any given time. As we see in most low intensity conflicts, a small percentage actually takes part in the fighting, followed by maybe 5-15% of the total population involved in active support at some level, and everyone else is just trying to live their lives. I suspect that the American Troubles would be similar.

The real problem for most Americans will be the economic, financial, and monetary destruction that results from armed conflict. While you’d think that high unemployment would enable the mobilization of millions of military-aged males, the disruption to transportation, shipping, and production likely means that many Americans will be focused on week to week survival, as opposed to actively fighting.

The greater the operational tempo and mass of fighters, the greater logistics you need. This likely means that the number of fighters remains relatively small compared to the efforts required to support them. Again, less than 5%, maybe even less than 1%, is likely to be engaged at any time. (That’s still a lot of people.)

On that note, the United States population today is some 200 times larger than Northern Ireland was from 1969-1998. So could we see 200 times the death toll? Certainly.

Although I still maintain that there is simply no possible way to accurately predict where this is headed or how it’s all going to end up, Culper’s comparison with The Thrubbles (hey, I’m Irish all to hell and gone on my mom’s side, so I can say it that way if I want to, dammit) seems entirely apt to me, and just as likely to yield some useful indications as any. At the end of the day, though, the one and only sure thing is that it’s going to positively SUCK.

Over and OUT

One of the New Untouchables signs off for the last time.

Video of a veteran Washington State trooper is going viral on social media. According to The Blaze and others, the law enforcement officer of 22 years was reportedly fired for disobeying Gov. Jay Inslee’s vaccination mandate. In his last sign-off from his patrol car, he had a message for the Democrat governor.

“Jay Inslee can kiss my ass,” he said.

“This is my final sign-off after 22 years serving the citizens of the state of Washington, I’ve been asked to leave because I am dirty,” he said.

“Numerous fatalities, injuries, I’ve worked sick, I’ve played sick, buried lots of friends over these years,” he added.

“I’d like to thank you guys, as well as the citizens of Yakima County, as well as my fellow officers within the valley,” he continued. “Without you guys I wouldn’t have been very successful. You’ve kept me safe and gotten me home to my family every night. Thank you for that.”

“Wish I could say more but this is it,” he said. “So State 1034 this is the last time you’ll hear me in a state patrol car.”

“And Jay Inslee can kiss my ass,” he concluded.

The radio operator responded by thanking the veteran for his many years of service and recalling his actions over the years.

“You’ve been a great role model and a mentor for all the young troopers serving in the area by sharing your knowledge and experience throughout the years,” the female operator said. “Thank you for your service.”

Sounds as if this trooper could possibly benefit from taking a look at this:

198 METHODS OF NONVIOLENT ACTION
Practitioners of nonviolent struggle have an entire arsenal of “nonviolent weapons” at their disposal. Listed below are 198 of them, classified into three broad categories: nonviolent protest and persuasion, noncooperation (social, economic, and political), and nonviolent intervention. A description and historical examples of each can be found in volume two of The Politics of Nonviolent Action, by Gene Sharp.

Some of these are pretty good, some of them not so much, some don’t seem all that applicable to the current situation, and some are just downright puzzling (23. Destruction of own property? Whuuuu…?!?). A few of my own personal faves:

Pressures on Individuals
31. “Haunting” officials
32. Taunting officials

Withdrawal from the Social System
66. Total personal noncooperation

Citizens’ Noncooperation with Government
123. Boycott of legislative bodies
124. Boycott of elections
125. Boycott of government employment and positions
126. Boycott of government depts., agencies, and other bodies
127. Withdrawal from government educational institutions
128. Boycott of government-supported organizations
129. Refusal of assistance to enforcement agents
130. Removal of own signs and placemarks
131. Refusal to accept appointed officials
132. Refusal to dissolve existing institutions

Citizens’ Alternatives to Obedience
133. Reluctant and slow compliance
134. Nonobedience in absence of direct supervision
135. Popular nonobedience
136. Disguised disobedience
137. Refusal of an assemblage or meeting to disperse
138. Sitdown
139. Noncooperation with conscription and deportation
140. Hiding, escape, and false identities
141. Civil disobedience of “illegitimate” laws

Political Intervention
193. Overloading of administrative systems
194. Disclosing identities of secret agents
195. Seeking imprisonment

Okay, umm, NO. Just…NO. That one I REALLY don’t like. The rest in that same category are fine and dandy, though.

196. Civil disobedience of “neutral” laws
197. Work-on without collaboration
198. Dual sovereignty and parallel government

Most baffling of all are the “Action by Government Personnel,” “Domestic Governmental Action,” and “International Governmental Action” categories. Don’t think anyone ought to be holding their breath waiting for any of THOSE suggestions to be acted upon, in this or practically any other situation, since most if not all of the time it’s the goobermint that’s causing the problem.

Git hot or go home

There’s a “new anger” in town, of a sort the ancient Festivus “Airing Of Grievances” tradition isn’t strong enough to overcome.

One thing Americans can presumably all agree on in our current cold civil war is that civility, mutual if grudging respect, and rational if testy debate in our political discourse have all been replaced by a hair-trigger performative outrage, the scorched-earth warfare of cancel culture, and even occasional violence. It’s difficult to remember that there was a time when even acerbic antagonists like William Buckley and Gore Vidal could trade barbs onstage without hurling chairs at each other and inciting nationwide rioting. What has happened to us? How did we come to this point? And is this state of rage destined to be a permanent feature of our cultural and political landscape?

Peter Wood, president of the National Association of Scholars and author of the essential 1620: A Critical Response to the 1619 Project, has addressed these questions incisively in a must-read, brand new book titled Wrath: America Enraged. He agreed to answer some questions about the book.

Mark Tapson: Mr. Wood, what is the “new anger,” and what is the difference between anger and wrath in a political context?

Peter Wood: “New anger” is show-off anger, the display of someone who expects to be admired for the performance or to boast about it afterwards: anger mixed with self-delight.  New anger contrasts to the older ethic of trying to master your anger and not to let it master you.  Through much of American history, giving free vent to anger was regarded as a sign of weakness and immaturity.  We admired the man or woman who, when provoked, found ways to handle the situation without descending into rage.  Of course, that kind of self-control often failed, at which point brawls erupted.  Those who brawled in public or in private, however, were not regarded as good people.  Those who turned to anger too quickly or too often were shamed.

“New anger” became a recognizable force in American life in the 1950s, though it was at first a trend confined to avant garde parts of society:  the beat generation, early adepts of Freudian psychoanalysis, and people reading French existentialist novels. From these seeds grew the counterculture of the sixties, and then the disillusioned anger of the Big Chill 1970s.  I am collapsing a lot of history into a few sentences.  The breakdown of the older ideals of emotional self-control and their replacement by a new ethic of emotional expressiveness didn’t happen overnight or all at once or equally in all sectors of society.  Fifteen years ago I spent a whole book (A Bee in the Mouth: Anger in America Now) to describe the slow progression of new anger into the position it now has of cultural dominance. I’m mindful that whole generations have grown up for whom there is nothing “new” about “new anger.” It is all they have ever experienced unless they have been immersed in the world of Turner Classic Movies, where you can glimpse a world ruled by different emotional norms.

But you ask me “what is the difference between anger and wrath in a political context?” The political left, going all the way back to the 1950s and even earlier upheld the view that American society is so unjust that people should indeed feel righteous indignation and anger at our institutions. The form of this leftist anger, of course, shifted with other changes in the national temperament. A Woody Guthrie protest song of the Dust Bowl years expressed leftist anger in a vivid way but it was meant to rally people and it had a good-humored element to it. As new anger emerged in the 1950s, leftist anger began to take on a darker tone. The Beat poet Allen Ginsberg wrote a poem in 1956 titled “America,” in which he told the country, “Go fuck yourself with your atom bomb.” The shock of a line like that has dissipated over the years as vulgarity has become common, but it was a pretty big step at the time, and it opened a rhetorical arms race on the left. Finding ever newer and more offensive ways to express anger became a competition among leftist artists, intellectuals, and self-styled rebels.

I’m using the word to capture that moment of emotional impasse in which the person has been angered beyond endurance and sees no way ahead. All the exits have been blocked and the places where emotional expression could be channeled into political or legal action seem to be out of reach. Wrath is collective despair suddenly torn free of all (or at least most) restraints because the other side has chosen to rule by foce and intimidation, not by the consent of the governed.

Which, to me at least, highlights a simple fact: The wrath of Heritage Americans is rational, reasonable, and entirely justified. It is reactive, the just and proper response all citizens of a free republic should feel over the depredations of those who propose to enslave them. The Left’s wrath, in razor-sharp contrast, is none of those things, being no more than the response of overindulged juveniles to the thwarting of their will to absolute power, or the adult rejection of their presumed right to wield it. There is no justification for such unreflective, self-serving rage, nothing reasonable or rational about it. Rather than indulging or even tolerating it, it needs to be punished, and mercilessly.

Sorry, Commie brats, I’m afraid you just don’t get to wave your chubby fists around in inchoate rage because freemen decline to just quietly roll over and let you rule them. That ain’t how it works, I’m afraid. Freedom-oriented folks—being peaceable, mature sorts whose primary wish is to be left alone by the likes of you snotnoses—will put up with a lot, to be sure. But there IS a limit to their forebearance, which limit you are well past, whether you know it or not. To learn more about all this, keep fucking around and find out. I promise you won’t like it.

“A CONTAGION of COURAGE”

Not a moment too soon, either. But, human nature being what it is, that’s almost always the way; nornal, sane, peaceable sorts tend to be slow to rile up and get moving, until all of a sudden…they aren’t.

Resistance Is Not Futile
After mass vaccinating the oblivious sheeple (the first 30%), then incentivizing or threatening the easily controlled obedience worshipers (another 30%), the genocidal vaccine pushers have reached the fiercely resisting 40% of the country that refuses to go along with vaccine tyranny.

All across America, pilots, firefighters, police officers, sheriff’s deputies, construction workers, office workers and many other people are saying, “Take this jab and shove it!”

Courage is contagious.

When groups of informed Americans rise up and say, “No!” to the genocidal vaccine tyrants, the tyrants are eventually forced to back down for the simple reason that you can’t run society without workers. And if those workers decide that risking their health and life isn’t worth a measly paycheck in soon-to-be-worthless dollars, society simply cannot function.

The revolt of the workers is best captured in this explicit video by “Old Man Cruz” (not related to Sen. Ted Cruz), a construction worker who explains what happens when workers stand up to vaccine tyranny…

It seems cliché to say that our nation is at the crossroads, but it’s true. The path we choose from here will be the path our nation continues down for the foreseeable future. If we succumb to the medical tyranny staring down at us, then we will beginning our descent on the aforementioned slippery slope with no realistic chance of recovery. If we fight this oppression and declare we are a free people, then our oblivion will be delayed until the next existential threat arises.

If there’s a silver lining to all of this, it’s that the nation needs an infusion of patriotism in action from time to time. Our patriotic muscles are like real muscles. They need to be exercised or the grow weaker. Today is our opportunity to defend the Constitution and the God-given freedoms the Constitution highlights. If we are to be a free people, then we must recognize that our freedoms will not defend themselves. It takes action at times like these. It takes courage.

It takes us. All of us.

Pandemic Panic Theater has turned a large number of Americans into pawns of the powers-that-be. But there are still millions of Americans who can stand up to oppression. Will we?

If history is any guide, some will; most won’t. What remains to be seen is if ENOUGH of us will. I’m inclined to think so, myself. Contra Rucker’s penultimate ‘graph, it DOESN’T take “all of us.” It only takes enough. And happily, once a stalwart handful get the train rolling, we all might be surprised at how many more folks will quickly jump aboard.

IT’S BEAUTIFUL, MAAAAN!!

I suddenly realize I’m gonna be getting a LOT more use out of that great Tom Cruise clip from TAPS I ran not too long ago.

Southwest Blames Cancellations On Worker Shortage, Union Denies ‘Sick-Out’ Over Vaccine Mandate

Update (1800ET): Southwest Airlines has had another terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day – as a shortage of workers combined with an air traffic control interruption to bring the total number of canceled flights to nearly 3,100 in four days.

“Crews were struggling to move and you end up in short order with aircraft and crews in the wrong spot,” said EVP Bob Jordan, adding “It’s really difficult to repair and put those things back together.”

Speculation over the actual cause of the cancellations has been rampant on social media – with some pilots refuting claims that they were staging a sickout over vaccination mandates, while COPO Mike Van de Ven told employees on Sunday night that it needs to build more of a “staffing cushion” to deal with unexpected disruptions.

The airline has set a Dec. 8 deadline for vaccinations, which the Pilots Union claim “imposes new conditions of employment” and threatens termination.

“What was a minor temporary event for other carriers devastated Southwest Airlines because our operation has become brittle and subject to massive failures under the slightest pressure,” said Casey Murray, president of the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association. “Our pilots are tired and frustrated because our operation is running on empty due to a lack of support from the company.”

As we noted on Sunday, Southwest airlines canceled nearly 2,000 flights over the weekend – blaming the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and inclement weather.

Oddly, no other major airlines had the same issues, while rumors swirled that airline employees had staged coordinated walk-outs (which their unions deny).

Yeah, odd. Delightful as it already is, though, does it get even better?

OHHHHHH yes it does.

Say it with me one mo’ time ag’in, chirruns: A process, not an event. And believe you me, the process is ongoing, even beginning to snowball, as these things have a tendency to do. Which makes it time, I think, to establish a brand-new category for such encouraging items: The Resistance.

The greatest news item in the history of EVER

Medals of Honor all around, I think. Silver Stars at the very least.

Confederate Flag Raised, US and German Flags Stolen at 2nd Cavalry Regiment Headquarters
GRAFENWOEHR, Germany — Military police are investigating after a Confederate flag was found flying from a flagpole outside 2nd Cavalry Regiment headquarters Monday and removed upon discovery, Army officials said.

An American flag and a German flag also were stolen from inside the headquarters building in Vilseck sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning by an unknown person, regiment spokesman Maj. John Ambelang said.

The incident at Rose Barracks, which is home to a regiment of about 4,800 soldiers, comes more than a year after the Defense Department effectively banned the Confederate flags and other symbols deemed divisive from public display on military bases.

“The regiment takes this misconduct very seriously,” Ambelang said in a statement. “Should the culprit be identified, the command will take appropriate action after considering all the facts surrounding the incident.”

I already told ya what the appropriate action ought to be. Sadly, the Maje is probably not in concurrence with my own view.

Commanders across the regiment conveyed the seriousness of the situation to soldiers at a morning formation, the statement said.

Neither the theft nor the display of the Confederate battle flag align with the Army’s values, Ambelang said.

In today’s New Weak-Ass Timorous Mincing Dick-Chopper Army, I rather suspect they don’t at that. Which, actually, is just jakesey-jooksey with me. The mere thought of contemporary “soldiers” happily discoing the night away within close proximity to my sacred Confederate Battle Flag brings the bilious gorge surging up my esophagus uncontrollably. Not that modern soldiery would dream of doing any such thing, of course; they’d more likely faint dead away at the first scarifying sight of such a hateful relic flying proudly in open defiance of everything they represent.

If the culprit of this Hate Crime had run up the LGBTQRXP39BRRMSSST&%$#@ Rainbow Flag of Free Love And Harmony instead, though—why, just think of the dot-mil dance party they’d throw in celebration of the glorious event. All the exemplary You-Ess Sojers now bringing down physical-fitness standards across all service branches would be there for sure, such as:

  • Flabby, flubbery, Cheetoh dust-encrusted gamerduuude PVT Ethan Pissboy: Hunched in desperate supplication to a God whose existence he scoffs at praying that nobody catches sight of him in the darkest outer corner of the quad, lest the decidedly unpleasant and mortifying experience of a forcible pantsing, followed by having an entire family-sized bottle of Absorbine Jr sloshed over his shriveled nutsack by his more exuberant squadmates be repeated yet again
  • Terrifying, steroid-inflated bull dagger SFC Philippa “Knucksy” Flatrocker: Probably the closest approximation of a real man on the whole base, and certainly the only one who could perhaps contribute anything remotely useful in combat conditions
  • CPT Buck Turgidson: Peering through the slats of his barely-open blinds in shock and disbelief at the Fellini-esque Sabbat of sexual degeneracy, full-spectrum insobriety, rampant flouting of the very concept of military bearing, and general witless displays of Conduct Unbecoming going on just outside his office window, goggle-eyed in heartbroken wonder at what the hell the stupid PC bastards have done to the once-respectable US Army he served faithfully and well for nearly 30 years, as he’s absently running his fingers over the retirement/resignation forms he finds himself pulling from his file cabinet more and more frequently these days
  • COL Upsuck T Grabass: Always seen with his overlarge staff of cringing rumpswabs in close trail as he paces frenetically about the grounds, scouting everywhere for the location of the next rung up on the careerist ladder
  • BRIG GEN Shontavius Cumquat Mohammed Isaiah McCorkle Jr VII: Nobody dares call De Gen’rill Suh an affirmation-action hire, but they’re all thinking it, since that’s exactly what he is: incompetent, unintelligent, in way over his head, yet nonetheless arrogant, conceited, unyieldingly convinced that 1) not only is he one of the very best flag officers of his generation, he is also 2) eminently deserving of even higher rank, which he has been unfairly denied him—not because he is in reality a ham-handed jackass who didn’t so much claw his way up to his present position as he firmly believes, but was pushed from behind so as to duly check a box on some government “diversity” form—entirely because of the Army’s “systemic racism”; De Gen’rill Suh is visibly contemptuous, even downright abusive, of the harried subordinates who must constantly interpose themselves into the narrow divide between the “General” bizarre orders and plans and the utter disaster which can be their only result, their selfless sense of duty thereby preventing a far better soldier than he’ll ever be from winding up injured or killed because of his muttonheaded blundering

These are but a few examples of the New Model Army types being actively sought and sworn in as “improvements” on the unevolved, anachronistic Warrior-Class throwbacks our Betters wish to retire, then write out of the history books. Which, hey, fine by me. When things do go fully pear-shaped at last, I’d much rather face the delicate, mentally-unstable Gender Befuddled, assorted neurotic freaks, and whining, whey-faced boy-men attached to Stop SHOUTING At Me Company, First Pansy Battalion, 35th Perfectly Painted Toenails Brigade than have to go up against the hard-handed, experienced dogfaces they’re shoving out.

Accentuate the positive

After opening with some encouraging tidings re: the Rittenhouse railroading, BCE shifts fire to another item whose implications might be taken as encouraging as well.

Also, ‘nother topic: Seems Larry Vickers of Vickers Tactical ran into an issue. The ATF seized ALL of his weaponry. https://www.mom-at-arms.com/post/atf-seizes-larry-vickers-machine-guns

Now for those who don’t know, Larry Vickers is fucking Legend in the SPECOPS community. He’s a retired Delta Operator. A real bad ass. He’s been in the gun biddness for quite a spell. Now, this was just announced, but so far he himself and his fecesbook and other online instances haven’t said a word about the seizures. The date on the paperwork is from 25 August. It runs to 182 pages. As in like 40 guns listed on each page.  THAT is one hell of an arsenal.

Now, since he ain’t said shit, the ATF isn’t saying shit, I’ve been thinking on it. Dangerous I know.
BUT
Suppose that there was or is a group of highly trained men who wanted to change things?
I described in one of my poasts a decapitation-style-strike on the FedGov in a fictional fashion by HIGHLY disgruntled Navy SEAL teams in a alt-universe. It was good writing and y’all loved it from what I got in the feedback.
That being said

What if reality was closer than we imagined?

One of the big(ger) problems a group of guys like that would have is getting the weaponry to do such ‘dirty deeds’ They couldn’t just roll into the arms room and check out their issued shytte. That’s raise more Red Flags than a Soviet May Day Parade. Telegraph the intentions faaar too easily, and man, you just can’t steal from an arms room…waaay too difficult. The Po-Po would be on you like stink on shit

However
A retired sympathetic Delta Operator who owns a metric fuckton of ‘party favors’?
Now granted, I’m speculating right out of my ass…BUT, it’d make one hell of a movie Aye? Doubt we’ll ever know, but hey, it sounds cool as fuck. IF it was going that route, well it got smothered in the crib so to speak. Mores the pity.
So what say you?

I say hell’s mothafuckin’ YEAH, that’s what. Before anybody out there gets a serious case of the Sadz over the story, though, do bear in mind: should Expat’s movie-script speculation turn out to be on the beam, and I hope to hell it is, what actually got “smothered in the crib” was the FIRST try at it. Expect others. Also bear in mind: Process, not event. This kind of thing is all just part of said process. Expect, also, that you won’t be hearing much if any reportage from the MotherFuckingMedia concerning any of these, uhh, film-script dress rehearsals (a-HENH) as and when they occur. You won’t. Until all of a sudden you dobecause they’ve become so damned numerous and widespread that news of them can no longer be adequately suppressed.

And that’s the point, see, at which the dam will burst and flood the whole joint with floor-to-ceiling coverage of said incidents—hysterical, shrieking coverage, 24-7, featuring panicky, teary-eyed “journalists” profligately spewing condemnatory verbiage such as “dangerous white supremacist revolutionary racist Nazi bloodshed mass murder” and the like around the place. Said verbiage explicitly commanded by Moderate Merry Garland and his band of drooling DoJ bohunks, natch.

In the movie, I mean. Not in real life. Because that would be wrong.

We are all dissidents now

I’ve been casting about for days now trying to find a way to excerpt this wide-ranging, lengthy, and thoughtful tour de force from Sido and still do it justice. Best I could come up with was just to dive right in and get to swimming.

This post is something I started working on prior to the 2020 election which seems like a eternity ago, back when the outcome of that “election” was still theoretically in doubt. As we approached the “election” I could see the handwriting was on the wall and that Trump was going to “lose”, one way or the other. Gone would be even the pretense of a two-party system and I still believe that. The Afghanistan debacle, raging inflation, executive overreach, all of that stuff that is getting /ourguys/ into a frenzy right now? It will be forgotten by the 2022 election. My prediction right now is for some modest gains for the Dems in the House and likely a seat or two flipping in the Senate. The GOP has 20 Senate seats to protect in 2022 and the Dems only have 14. If the Left does grab enough to make a more solid majority, you can kiss the filibuster goodbye and that will mean the overreach and expansion we are seeing now will be recalled as the days of small government.

With Trump gone, flawed and generally useless as he was, there is basically no one at the national or even state level who will represent heritage Americans. Perhaps we will receive the occasional platitudes but real representation? Not anymore. What passes for “conservative” politics in the future will be people like Nikki Haley, Marco Rubio and Richard Grennell. A far cry from the days of Goldwater and Buchanan. What will that look like and what will that mean for people like me and other White working and middle class Americans, the people who still make up the backbone of America but who are also resisting the push toward a new, comprehensive globalism? Already we are seeing the Republican establishment declaring that what is needed is more pandering to minorities, especially mestizos, once again leaving White voters taken for granted. We have no home and we have no friends.

What this means simply is that we will be political dissidents, opposed by and oppressed by the ruling class and without representation or even a voice on the national political stage. That might suck for a while but it isn’t all bad as there is a long and honorable tradition of political dissent throughout human history.

The thing that really brought me up short was the realization that yes, the aforementioned Haley, Rubio, et al are indeed a quite far cry from Goldwater and Buchanan—a much farther cry than Goldwater and Buchanan were from Washington, Jefferson, Adams, et al. One doesn’t have to expend a whole lot of what Heinlein liked to call “skull sweat” to see that this, in contrast to the usual order of things, is a distinction with one HELL of a difference.

From the Founding era of the late 1700s straight through to the heyday of Barry Goldwater in the late 1960s—and to a certain extent even up to the apogee of Buchanan’s career as a conservative office-seeker, a span of well over two centuries—there was still a readily identifiable philosophical thread connecting the generations.

But then, somehow, over the course of only two decades (in Buchanan’s case, a couple more than that in Goldwater’s, more or less), the pace of conservative (de)evolution kicked into high gear and slammed the pedal to the floor: self-styled “conservative” leadership underwent a bizarre transmogrification which created a new generation of pseudoconservatives which was wholly unrecognizable to those that had preceded it—alien creatures that not only the Founders but also Goldwater and Buchanan would find intellectually repugnant, nothing but a pale, shambolic imposture of its once-proud line.

That says a hell of a lot, not a word of it flattering to our present-day Lions of Constitutional Conservatism (a-HENH!)™. At any rate, be sure to read all of Arthur’s magnum opus; whichever name we dispossessed and disgusted Americans decide to adopt for ourselves, I think you’ll find the piece well worth your while.

Making their weakness our strength

A modest proposal from Brandon that I think we’ll all like.

We Will Not Comply: Red States Should Offer Sanctuary To Businesses, Military And Medical Personnel
The Biden Administration and its corporate partners are now implementing a blitzkrieg against the American citizenry. Biden’s vaccine executive orders are creating a culture of “paper’s please” fascism among larger businesses and Big Box retailers. He has recently announced that part of the mandates will include fines against businesses that refuse to enforce proof of vaccination on their employees. These fines will range from $70,000 to $700,000, which could destroy a medium sized company if they actually had to pay.

Medical personnel, primarily in leftist blue states, are now being fired from their positions because they have refused to comply with the vax. This is leaving massive gaps in medical response in places like New York. The unelected governor of New York, Kathy Hochul, claims she has the right to give herself dictatorial powers through executive order, and that these powers include deploying National Guard troops to take over medical duties. If you are familiar with the sordid history of VA hospitals, then you know that you do not want around 90% of military doctors operating on you in any capacity.

Keep in mind that none of these mandates are actual “laws”. None of them have been voted on by a legislature or the American people. They are color of law violations of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and should be defied at every opportunity.

Furthermore, I have to ask that pesky but logical question once again – If the vaccines actually work as governments claim, then how are unvaccinated people any threat to vaccinated people?  Why would they need “protection” from us? (The reality is that the covid vax does not work so there is no reason to take it)  But let’s get back to Biden’s criminal trespasses; the list is growing by the day…

Let’s talk about Biden’s latest efforts to punish US troops that refuse the vaccines with dishonorable discharge. I’m not sure if Biden knows that a dishonorable discharge generally requires a trial by court martial in the military, or maybe this is what he actually wants for every single person that will not take the vax. In any case, the goal here is to terrify military members into submission and into accepting illegal orders. And yes, demanding that a soldier act as a lab rat for an experimental vaccine with no long term data to prove its safety is an illegal order.

It’s hard to say yet what the real stats are, but recent polling suggests that at least 30% of the US military plans to refuse the vaccinations, including many members of special operations units.

All of this over a virus with a tiny median death rate of 0.26%? Just to force people to take a vaccine that has been proven completely ineffective in countries like Israel where vaccination rates are high? When over 60% of people hospitalized with covid are fully vaccinated, then what is the point of the vaccines? It makes no sense unless the purpose was always tyranny and not public safety. So, where does this leave us?

There are larger scale solutions to this problem, there are peaceful short term solutions, and there are more violent long term solutions. I will be discussing the violent options in my next article, but for now I think the best path forward is for red states and maybe even red counties is to offer safe haven or “asylum” to people who are under attack from these mandates.

It is indeed a short one, of which you will want to read the all. There are all kinds of reasons why this audacious idea is a good one, not least among ’em how artery-popping, purple-faced livid its implementation would render Branch Covidians across the entire nation. Throw in a few others, including but not limited to:

  • It draws a bold, indelible line of demarcation between Free America and the Shitlib Shitrapies, one that leaves no room whatsoever for error or misinterpretation
  • It offers a practical means of escape for those in dire need of one
  • It amounts to a direct, healthy cocking of the snook by the Free States at some most deserving recipients
  • It allows for no further dithering or obfuscation concerning who the opposing sides really are, and what they really believe in
  • It encourages a long-needed clarification of how far the Free States might be willing to go in re-asserting their Constitutionally-delineated independence and authority vis a vis the illegitimate federal Überstate, after decades of incremental encroachment
  • It will simultaneously provide a significant boost to Free State military strength as well as bring in always-needed medical personnel and small businesses, all of whom have just received an object lesson on the paramount importance of liberty and self-determination
  • Siphon off trained, experienced, capable professionals in non-trivial numbers, leaving already-faltering Blue states suddenly and significantly weakened in ways even 1st World nations might struggle to cope with
  • Dammit, it’s just the right thing to do

…and we have ourselves a pluperfect no-brainer here. If there’s a downside here, I sure ain’t finding it.

Despite everything, the heart of freedom is still beating

Two Tweets too good to resist swiping.

Red China? Sheeeit, Gov, Australia is making North Korea look like a bastion of liberty by comparison. The OzNazis have raised the bar on tyranny so high it may NEVER be exceeded. At least, I HOPE it won’t; I’ll probably end up disappointed on that. Thankfully, this next one provides a hopeful counterpoint.

Looks like at least some in Italy haven’t forgotten the lesson of Mussolini just yet.

CAUTION: Armageddon ahead

In front of our very eyes.

The current experimental injection being forced upon the world is a recipe for disaster, as the mounting evidence shows. The jab already has killed many thousands and has maimed millions across the globe. Yet, the profiteers still push it, knowing its potential for population control, something Bill Gates actually revealed a few years ago. For elites, it’s also a source of great personal wealth.

Resistance to the forced jab continues to grow, as does the oppression to mandate the shot. In countries where private citizens have been disarmed, we are witnessing the spread of tyranny like a raging wildfire. In America also, the heat in the kettle is rising, but people are now feeling the pressure and choosing to resist. Many are about to lose their jobs, and they are accepting it. These wise and courageous ones recognize that giving just an inch to the enemy further empowers them and further erodes our freedom. We may not yet face the threat at gunpoint to take the “vaccine,” but securing food, accessing bank funds, traveling, and access to other daily needs is slowly becoming more challenging. The warped Communist Biden government is proceeding with caution, hoping to wear us down by every means possible, short of threats of violence. But you can be sure that violence will be employed if they can somehow disarm us.

This fact leads me to explore the minds of our nation’s founding fathers. The greatest insurance against mass tyranny is—and always will be—the armed private citizen. While America has failed to assemble and maintain a well-regulated Militia, the private armed American is a powerful stopgap to the onslaught of a derelict government turning to violence.

And now, we are finally beginning to recognize the dire need for Patriots and Conservatives to organize. Nothing short of a full-fledged assault against the Communist domestic dictators will do, be they mock leaders like Biden, or Marxist governors like Gavin Newsom. We are now seeing freedom lovers worldwide rise up against unethical police officers and military forces that serve the dark side and torment us. This fellowship of freedom fighters has now begun to take a stand and say, “No more!” We are fed up with the lies, deception, propaganda, indoctrination, and fear-mongering. We will no longer accept being told to cover our faces or accept the toxic jab, close our businesses, or isolate ourselves from one another. The brotherhood of mankind has been created in the image of God. Thus, God, Himself tells us—and that instills in every man and woman a deep-seated yearning for freedom to create, to prosper, and to live according to the laws of humanity.

You can be sure that the whole world has seen the torchlight of Lady Liberty, and they crave it more than do we Americans who take our liberty for granted. But as the tyranny escalates and as freedom wanes, the dormant patriots are awakening in our once free republic as well. Yes, a war has already been declared against the United States Constitution. Now we see clearly that our freedom is near to being tossed over a cliff. Under such tyranny years ago, the American Revolution was fought and won. If we so choose once again, nothing can stop the Second American Revolution that is now brewing already. But the war could be carried far and wide, and who knows… perhaps a World Revolutionary War is on the horizon. A freedom fight is always a just war, and the brotherhood of man seeking freedom is a mighty powerful army. Now is the time to act. And when the storm passes, we shall behold a most glorious rainbow!

We can but hope. Until then, we can either get militant or get kilt. Almost certainly both, actually, for a yet-to-be-dtermined number of us. The Enemy, for his part, is immovably committed to forcing the issue.

Joe Biden made an absolutely insane claim about getting back to normal after COVID-19. He’s now saying that we have to get 97-98% of Americans vaccinated before normalcy can return in this country.

Historically, herd immunity was reached once approximately 70% of a community was immune to a virus. That would include those vaccinated and those with natural immunity. The problem is that the authoritarian dictator that runs this country doesn’t believe in science.

Um, no. The problem is that he in fact IS an authoritarian dictator. Do understand that, as I’ve said before, “Biden” is obviously neither in charge nor remotely cognizant of any of this, that the very name “Biden” is merely shorthand for whoever it is that really calls the shots in Amerika v2.0: a genuine Legion Of Evil whose names we’ll never know, whose faces we’ll never see.

The second link above might be a tad heavy on the Xtian proselytizing for some of you, so if that ain’t your thang, feel free to skip it. I ain’t much bothered by it myself, although I would admittedly prefer it if his whole analysis didn’t revolve around it and he would just stick to the worldly aspects of the issue, so I can easily see how the author’s focus on Biblical prophecy might grate. Though I do consider myself a Christian, I’m also sure a lot of the stricter believers would condemn me as a Bad one.

“Thank God For Rednecks—Who else could keep us from turning into Australia?”

I’m completely down with the sentiment, as you might expect. As nice a try as it is, though, the guy still misses the mark in places.

Last summer, when all this Covid stuff really kicked off, I got a call from a friend in rural Virginia. He told me a bunch of rednecks were going to grocery stores and gas stations, tearing down signs asking patrons to wear facemasks.

My friend was annoyed, and so was I. Hey, it’s private property! If Sal only wants to sell pizza to folks dressed like Little Bo Peep, and you don’t want to dress up as Little Bo Peep, go to a different pizzeria. Better yet, cook for yourself. It’s not that hard.

Now, I thank God every day for those rednecks.

A few weeks ago, a friend in Australia called and told me about the country’s new Covid app. Residents of South Australia are required to prove they’re in quarantine by using face recognition and geolocation on this app. If they fail to check in, the app will notify a bureaucrat with the state’s Health Department. That bureaucrat will then call the police. The police, in turn, will go to the citizen’s home and make sure he’s not taking an unauthorized walk so his dog can take a clandestine whizz.

“We don’t tell them how often or when, on a random basis they have to reply within 15 minutes,” said premier Steven Marshall. Fair warning, I guess.

Meanwhile, in neighboring Victoria, the government has implemented mandatory contact tracing. The state is forcing stores to force customers to “check in” before they shop. According to Victoria’s chief health officer, Professor Brett Sutton, “everyone recognizes that we have to do absolutely everything in our power to be able to chase down every single person who may be exposed because it is that one person who is not found who may be the one who spreads it.”

And you know what? Professor Sutton is right. Since the vaccines aren’t 100 percent effective, the only way we can be absolutely sure we eradicate the virus is by identifying every single carrier before they infect anyone else. If that’s Australia’s objective, they’re going to need a lot more than a smartphone app. I’m sure they’ll exhaust every resource.

That, and then some. It’s the tried and true Leftist bait-and-switch, that’s all. We’ll always and forever need their “assistance,” because their work (IMPORTANT work!) is not yet finished, and never will be. No shitlib proposal, program, or crusade comes with an expiration date; even measures explicitly sold as “temporary” responses to one “emergency” or another nearly always end up becoming permanent fixtures of “American” life—as predictable as the sunrise, as reliable as the tide. Even in the rare instances when the “temporary” program is allowed (or forced, due to public outrage) to expire, it’s a dead cert that the Left will summon it from its crypt again and again, in the nature of all vampires, to prowl for new victims and feed on them. Please see “Income tax, origins of” for further information.

I’m sure the Australians will let them, too; you can tell they’re descended from prisoners and prison-guards. Another Aussie friend once described his country as an ongoing experiment with Bentham’s Panopticon. Folks there are so worn down by constant government interference they can’t even imagine what true privacy feels like. It’s like boiling frogs—and when your country starts out as a penal colony, you’re pretty well used to the heat.

On the other hand, you can tell Americans are descended from free settlers and freed slaves.

Izzatso? How, exactly? To my eyes, most Americans look way more like un-freed slaves nowadays, and appear to be perfectly happy about it, too.

Our policy is, and always has been, “Leave me the hell alone.” It’s looking pretty good right about now, too, considering the alternative.

Boy, talk about damning with faint praise.

Look: we can get into those niceties about private property laws, and I’ll probably agree with you. I’m not saying they’re perfect. But I sleep better at night knowing the preppers, truthers, and talk-radio enthusiasts are out there, just waiting for an excuse to make life miserable for the government.

They’ve been handed all the excuse anyone could ever need and plenty more besides over the past year and a half, and that leaves out the last six or more decades altogether. They’d best get going on making life miserable for the government, before it’s too late to do any good.

Seriously, imagine if Ron DeSantis did an about-face and required everyone who shops at Publix to sign up for contact tracing. There would be riots. No, actually, there wouldn’t—because the good folks who work for Publix would refuse to comply.

One would like to think so, yes. But if the glares of outrage and terror I’ve gotten at Publix are any indication, they’re way more likely to riot over the sight of my raspy old self without a face-diaper on than anything else. If they don’t just fall over in a dead faint, that is.

And if the CDC tried to bring out a Covid app like South Australia’s, they would be mooned by thousands upon thousands of Americans every 15 minutes.

Okay, one would REALLY like to think so, yes.

When it comes to our civil liberties, the first line of defense is an old Marine with a Coors Light in one hand and a Remington 870 in the other. He’s got his mask pulled down over his chin and a Winston Red dangling from his lips.

If he’s got a mask on in the first place, however he might be wearing the damned thing, that Marine of yours most likely isn’t going to live up your overly-hopeful expectations, and shouldn’t be relied upon to defend anything of importance. Then again, sounds to me like you don’t have a whole lot of Marines in your circle of acquaintance, nor rednecks either.

He has eight Trump stickers on the back of his truck and one that says “Booty Hunter” just to mix things up. He’s got the Confederate flag tattooed on his left arm and—of course—he’s wearing a MAGA hat.

This specter haunts Washington: the specter of Middle America. Call him Old Red.

In a better world, it would. I see no evidence that it does in this one.

Old Red looms over every meeting of the CDC, the FBI, the DHS, and the ATF. They never speak of him, but they all see him. And the apparatchiks know the moment they overstep their authority they’re going to have to deal with hundreds of thousands of pissed-off rustics. Really, there’s no telling how many Beltway power-grabs were abandoned for fear of the Great White Rube.

Name three. Hell, name ONE. Because from where I’m sitting, I can’t recall a single Beltway power-grab that hasn’t been put through with vigor and enthusiasm, to a Jubilee of praise from our lords and masters in celebration of how wonderful it all is, how we lowly serfs ought to be humbly grateful for the way said power-grab is going to improve our sorry, lamentable lots for us.

As bad as things are getting here in the States, we can’t fathom how much worse things would be without these down-home heroes.

We’ll soon be finding out, you can count on that.

Sure, they might carry their paranoid anti-government theories a little too far.

At this late date, that’s impossible.

But their paranoia is far from unfounded, and even if they sometimes over-react, they keep America from falling into the opposite extreme: creeping tyranny, Aussie style.

A matter of degree, not of kind.

You can’t boil a frog if he flips out every time you reach for the knob.

Which is precisely why I STRONGLY advise said frog to get to flipping out, and fast. Because so far, he’s been perfectly content to just relax in that nice, warm water, drifting on off into a peaceful slumber.

Like them, I’d prefer the burdens of liberty to a warm, sterile despotism. And that seems like an old-fashioned, all-American instinct to me. I can’t see Davey Crockett “sheltering in place” because the Department of Public Health asked him to. I can’t see Teddy Roosevelt triple-masking. I can’t see Johnny Cash stanning Dr. Fauci.

I can’t see it myself. But those guys are all dead. And the other thing I can’t see is anybody willing to step up and fill their shoes.

So, my apologies to those anti-maskers in Virginia. I rushed to judge you last summer, and that was wrong.  May you continue to resist any whiff of conformism with righteous fury. May you give no quarter to the elite “consensus” of elite “institutions.” And may you never stop being pissed off. It just might save this republic.

The Republic is well beyond resuscitation, having been murdered long ago. There’s no way of knowing what will succeed it, but if we don’t START being pissed off most ricky-tick, you can bet it won’t be pretty.

Generals, then and now

Right from the opening paragraph, this article is proof that some things never change.

On September 1, 1939, Brigadier George C. Marshall took the oath of office as the 15th U.S. Army chief of staff, a post he held until November 1945. When the ceremony ended, General Marshall confided to his aide de camp, “There is enough dead wood in the Army’s officer corps to light several forest fires.”

Marshall was more right than he knew. If the U.S. Army and Army Air Corps fought shoulder to shoulder with the French Army in 1940, American arms would have suffered the same fate as the French and British Armies—total defeat at the hands of the German Wehrmacht. This fact was made painfully obvious 14 months after the Second World War broke out.

In February 1943, 11,000 German troops smashed through the 30,000 soldiers of the U.S. Army’s II Corps at Kasserine Pass. The U.S. commander, Major Gen. Lloyd Fredendall, a swaggering blowhard, was relieved and sent home. It was not the last time that a cigar-chewing imitation of a real general would fail in action against the German onslaught, but the experience strengthened Marshall’s intolerance of general officer failure in action.

Today, the task of finding senior military leaders with character, competence and intelligence is immeasurably harder than it was in Marshall’s day. Under the Bush and Obama administrations, the American media’s adulation for four stars transformed general officers such as Petraeus, McChrystal, Mattis, Allen, and Austin into instant celebrities.

Four stars now automatically become part of a mutual general officer admiration society, that cheers even mediocre performance in general officers chosen for high command, because, like “made men” in the Mafia, senior leaders agree not to turn on their peers. Eliminating failed general officers, even when failure is found out the hard way in action, is deemed dangerous to a promotion system based on nepotism that presents itself as infallible.

Political leaders are of no help.

Quite the opposite, I’d say, of course and as always.

The point is that General Mark Milley is not an isolated example. He’s the product of an environment that has existed for nearly 30 years, if not longer. Behind Mark Milley stand another two dozen four stars ready to take his job that are indistinguishable from him in their attitudes and career patterns.

Is the situation hopeless? History answers with an emphatic “No.”

After the defeat of the U.S. Army’s II Corps, General Sir Harold Alexander, Eisenhower’s British deputy, commented on Fredendall to his American allies, “I’m sure you must have better men than that.” Eisenhower agreed. Major Gen. Patton, a man who but for the outbreak of WWII would have retired as an obscure cavalry colonel, replaced Fredendall.

As the author says, the correct answer to the question “is the situation hopeless” is “an emphatic ‘No,'” and always will be. As such, the question is immaterial. The question that matters is: Are we up to the challenge of doing everything required of us to prevail over the exigencies that make the situation APPEAR hopeless? That question is strictly pass/fail, and will NOT be graded on a curve.

Update! This might look to be unrelated at first glance, but I assure you it ain’t.

Mike responds to a post of mine from yesterday, and finishes with:

Yes, the whole system is rotten to the core, to the point that it can never be fixed or restored via traditional, peaceful means. AS ZMan put it, a system that is immune to voting is not going to be fixed by more voting.

I agree with this, of course. And while my assessment may sound bleak, I still believe it to be accurate. People, especially patriotic Americans, have been willing to swallow damned near anything to avoid admitting to themselves just how bleak the situation actually is. Why? Because if they do admit it, they then are face to face with the next question: What the hell do we do about it?

And that is a very painful question, because there are no good, painless answers. Oh, sure, you can gargle a big glass of normality bias and pretend that voting gooderer and harderer will fix things. Or that some deep counter-Qspiracy is going to defeat the Ruling Class and its Deep State. But that, of course, is simply denying the reality you have to admit and confront in order to deal with it on a personal basis going forward. That’s the thing, see? It’s going to hit you personally, whether you want it to or not. It won’t go away just because you ignore it, or tell yourself it’s not really what it looks like.

Read on to find out just how very related it is. In fact, the thing that sometimes makes me sit up a little straighter and rub my eyes in awe and wonder is how deeply interconnected all the issues confronting us are—yet another of those things that, once seen, cannot be UNseen.
