Clown car, clown country, clown world.

If America is a clown country, the ruling class on Wall Street, along with their ruling class friends in Washington, are driving the clown car.

Enter Reddit.

You might have noticed that the suits are very upset this week. That’s because anonymous Redditors, while presumably brushing the Cheeto dust off their laptop keyboards, decided to do a little bit of stock speculation.

They had no fancy tools, no quantitative analysis, no Bloomberg terminals, and they’re certainly not members of the elite class who are entitled to engage in such sophisticated business.

What they did have was unbridled rage and disdain for the drivers of the clown car, and when they found a way to exploit them, they hijacked the clown car for themselves and took it for an epic joyride.

But if there’s anything the ruling class hates, it’s losing money—especially to a bunch of unwashed punks who were laughing in their faces while they sent Melvin Capital hurtling towards bankruptcy. In an instant, the rightful owners of the clown car demanded it back.

You see, only fancy hedge fund managers—members of the Wall Street ruling class—are allowed to decide the value of a stock. Those hedge fund managers decided the value of GameStop, a brick and mortar retailer, was very little. Hence the massive short position. They were allowed to short the stock as they pleased, which of course, in turn, continued to drive down the value of the stock, helping their positions. They knew what they were doing. Their friends at other hedge funds knew it, too, and took full advantage, pummeling GameStop into the ground.

But when Reddit decided the value of GameStop, a cutting-edge video game distribution company, was worth $350 per share (or at least worth enough to watch hedge fund managers cry, which is a hilarious source of entertainment) they were banned from purchasing the stock on almost every platform.

In our clown country, only the ruling class is allowed to win. If the ruling class is not winning, it will simply change the rules of the game.

Matt Taibbi takes the piss:

The only thing “dangerous” about a gang of Reddit investors blowing up hedge funds is that some of us reading about it might die of laughter. That bit about investigating this as a “pump and dump scheme” to push prices away from their “fundamental value” is particularly hilarious. What does the Washington Post think the entire stock market is, in the bailout age?

America’s banks just had maybe their best year ever, raking in $125 billion in underwriting fees at a time when the rest of the country is dealing with record unemployment, thanks entirely to massive Federal Reserve intervention that turned a crash into a boom. Who thinks the “fundamental value” of most stocks would be this high, absent the Fed’s Atlas-like support in the last year?

In other words, it was all well and good for investment banks and executives of phoney-baloney companies to gorge themselves on funhouse profits on a funhouse economy, but when amateurs decided to funnel just a bit of this clown show into their own pockets, finance pros wailed like the grave of Adam Smith had been danced upon.

GameStop has prompted more pearl-clutching than any news story in recent memory. Expert after grave-faced expert has marched on TV to tell Reddit traders that markets are complicated, this isn’t a game, and they wouldn’t be doing this, if they really understood how things work.

“I’m not sure everybody fully understands what’s happening here,” was the melancholy comment on CNBC of Wall Street’s famed fluffer-in-chief, Andrew Ross Sorkin. The author of Too Big to Fail added in pedagogic tones that while this “stick it to the man moment” might feel good, betting up the value of GameStop above Delta Airlines just isn’t right, because “there are no fundamentals here.”

Fundamentals? How much does Sorkin think his exalted Delta Airlines would be worth now, if the Fed hadn’t stopped its death plunge last March? How much would any of the airlines be worth in the Covid age, with their fleets of mothballed jets? What a joke!

Furthermore, everybody “understands” what happened with GameStop. Unlike some other Wall Street stories, this one isn’t complicated. The entire tale, in a nutshell, goes like this. One group of gamblers announced, “Fuck you!” Another group announced back: “No, fuck YOU!”

That’s it. Or, as one market analyst put it to me this morning, “A bunch of guys made a bet, got killed, then doubled and tripled down and got killed even more.”

He digs into the real nitty-gritty of the thing, and it’s worth a read if you’re interested. But for me, “No, fuck YOU!” is all I need to know, and t’will suffice. Anything that reduces The Power to bitching and boo-hoo’ing this way, hey, I’m good with it.

TEXIT!

The Bu-God Republic makes its move.

H.B. No. 1359

(4)  recommendations regarding any international convention or multilateral agreement to which an independent Texas may become a party in order to benefit the people of Texas or ensure minimal disruption during a transition period.

(c)  In addition to considering the issues described under Subsection (b) of this section, the committee shall include within its report required under Subsection (h) of this section a strategy for achieving Texas independence not later than 60 months after the date the results of the referendum election required under Section 1 of this Act are certified by the governor.

This is indeed a momentous occasion, a cause for joy and celebration, and I heartily wish the brave citizens of the Republic all success in this most worthy effort. At the same time, I hope no Texan is cherishing any illusions regarding the odds that the vile, illegitimate dictatorship of the Former United States might suffer them to redeem their fundamental right to independence, self-government, and liberty without a violent campaign to re-subjugate them.

Tyrants, after all, are NOT known for their forebearance, keen regard for justice and propriety, or generosity of spirit; all the higher sentiments and qualities are alien to them. For such loathsome creatures, “depart in peace” is NEVER an option, the memorable John Adams quote from whence it’s drawn merely a bit of incomprehensible jabberwock, no more. Be assured that the handful among them who are even aware of its existence at all were baffled by it, and disliked it intensely.

But what of it? The tyrant’s nature is eternal, and no secret to any student of history. They are what they are, and will do what they will do. Their soullessness and low, footling character portends their ultimate doom: failure, ruin, and infamy awaits them all, be it sooner or later. So three cheers for Texas, and for Texans! Your righteous example lights the path for every true American. Forever may your proud Republic endure.

Via my esteemed fellow Renegades.

Deplatforming: back atcha!

Alinski’s Rule 4 must be rigidly enforced.

If Monster Tech can aggressively de-platform businesses and individuals for expressing forbidden opinions, then maybe it’s time for skilled tradesmen to respond in kind against the woke left.

Leftists despise working class “deplorables” and seek to punish them for all their disapproved habits – you know – God, guns, motorized vehicles, and voting MAGA. Well, the tradesmen I know are swamped with business right now, so it might be a good time for them to establish their own “terms of service” enabling them to deny services to advocates of cancel culture. We’ve learned from Monster Tech that all you have to do is declare someone’s speech to be “hateful” or state that their speech might “incite violence” to banish someone from receiving service. If a deplorable can be targeted as hate-filled for simply supporting Trump, then a tradesman’s Terms of Service can in turn declare that any visible support for Democrats constitutes hate speech.

Broken down on the side of the road with a Bernie or Biden bumper sticker? Sorry – you’re going to have to find a wrecker that employs all 57 genders and declares all their pronouns. But Earl’s 24-Hour Wrecker won’t be towing your car today. Terms of service, you know.

Broken down furnace during a deep freeze? Too bad you advocated for a fracking ban on Facebook. That’s a violation of Smith HVAC’s terms of service. It looks like you’ll need to find yourself an HVAC company that can fix you up with 100% renewable energy if you want your heat back on.

It’s a shame about that plumbing leak, but your hate-filled “Hate Has No Home Here” sign is a violation of Jones Plumbing’s terms of service. If you’ll just open your backdoor, the leaking water will find its way out.

Low on gas in the middle of the desert? That’s a shame, but Last Chance Gas can’t put fuel in your car if it’s going to be spreading the message of hate encompassed by your COEXIST sticker.

What goes around has a nasty way of coming around. So game ON, you rat bastards.

First gradually, then all at once

Off to the races.

If you think we’re headed into a transhuman nirvana of continuous tech-assisted orgasm, social equity, and guaranteed basic income, you are going to be disappointed. Our actual destination is a neo-medieval time-out from all the techno-dazzle of recent decades. It’s not as bad as you might think. The human project will continue at a lower pitch, probably for a good long while, but minus most of the comforts and conveniences we’re used to, and with very different social arrangements. You can waste your energy hand-wringing and wailing over all this, or summon the fortitude to go where history is taking us and make something of it.

The old economy is wrecked. Many Americans already know this because they’ve lost their businesses and their livelihoods. What used to be there isn’t coming back. But there will always be ways to make yourself useful providing things and services that other people need, just not within the crumbling armature of the economy we’re leaving behind. There will be a lot of debris left in the way to overcome, especially the crap we’ve smeared all over the landscape.

One business you can begin to organize right now is a salvage industry, sorting out the reusable components of all that crap — the steel I-beams, the aluminum trusses and sashes, plate glass, concrete blocks, copper and PVC pipe, and dimensional lumber. A lot of this stuff we just won’t be making anymore, certainly not at the former scale. Think of all the shopping malls to be disassembled.

Growing food and getting it to markets is the most critical activity. Poor Bill Gates, addled by his fortune, has bought up something like a quarter-million acres of farmland. His grandiosity prompts him to believe he can organize farming on the super-giant scale — Walmart for corn and turnips. Nothing could be further from the real coming trend: a reduction of scale and scope of farming and of the distribution supply lines that serve it. Poor Bill doesn’t seem to realize that the oil-and-gas-based “inputs” (fertilizers, pesticides) won’t be there for him, nor will the million-dollar diesel-powered combines. Nor the trucking industry. He could do more good for mankind getting into the mule business. (He won’t. Lacks razzle-dazzle.)

Ahh, but mightn’t there be a bright side to all this misery nonetheless? A-yup, there just might.

For those perhaps not paying attention, Covid-19 has destroyed what remains of education, especially the public school system. It was already moribund, waiting to crash, reduced to a pension racket for teachers. Going forward, the money won’t be there to operate these giant centralized schools and their yellow buses (while paying out pensions). The virus has kick-started exactly the kind of home-schooling pod system (several families combining) that can be reorganized into small-scale schooling for people who want it. People who don’t want it can move into their future without knowing how to read or do arithmetic. We’ll finally get a good test of the noble savage hypothesis. As for the colleges and universities, their business models are toast. They’ll be downscaling and shuttering as far ahead as the eye can see. Whatever remains will be more like finishing schools for neo-medieval ladies and gentlemen — and, by the way, the distinction between men and women will be reestablished. Why? Because reality insists on it. There will be plenty of work for former professors of Intersectionality in the sorghum fields.

Hard work too, back-breaking work, from cain’t see to cain’t see, as real farmers used to say. I do so look forward to said professors collapsing en masse, great windrows of them, out in those killing fields: doughy bodies atremble, pasty faces empurpled, fragile psyches undone by the awful sight of actual dirt under their fingernails.

Poor optics make for clear vision

When they decide to rule us from behind walls, razor-wire, and entire divisions of soldiers with shoot-to-kill ROEs, you know for sure that “of, by, and for the People” is dead as a dodo, and “the consent of the governed” is no longer of any concern.

The handfuls of ordinary people who arrived, as Americans always do, to attend the inauguration of a new president were confronted with heavy weapons and barbed wire.

D.C. had become a Baghdad and Berlin of checkpoints, choking off access to much of the city, closing roads, bridges, and metro stations. Soldiers could be seen on every corner, and the 25,000 troops were bolstered by 4,000 Marshalls, and a motley crew of local forces, including 200 members of the NYPD, 40 members of the Chicago police, New Jersey and Maryland state troopers, Miami-Dade cops, and other law enforcement officers who were needed back home.

24 people were shot in Chicago this weekend and murders are already up 125% this year in New York City. Those officers could have done more good at home, but Democrats don’t care about murder victims in urban areas, instead redeploying officers to D.C. in a show of force.

Biden took office in a city under military occupation whose businesses were closed and boarded up. The D.C. government had tried to force hotels to shut down. The hotels didn’t close, but there were hardly any people. Instead the hotels were filled with soldiers tramping through their lobbies. Any tourists that did come found nothing to see except barricades and barbed wire.

Sometimes what you don’t see is more important than what you do see.

Popular leaders, elected or unelected, might have troops in their cities, but they also have adoring crowds to cheer them on. Biden’s only cheers were coming from employees of huge corporations whose jobs depend on praising him as the greatest thing since SuperPACs.

Biden couldn’t manage the cheering crowds that greeted even the most mediocre presidents on their arrival. The band might as well have struck up a rousing chorus of, “Hail to the Thief.”

Jokes like that are all but illegal these days even though they were ubiquitous during the Bush and Trump administrations. But jokes only need to be banned when they’re too close to the truth. The hysterical fascist theater with troops in the streets and fawning praise on the lips of the press are all efforts to overcompensate for the hollow man taking a false oath on a bible.

This isn’t the pageantry of Stalin or Hitler. It’s the weary theater of Brezhnev, a senescent leader of a decaying regime being propped up by desperate threats of force by the nomenklatura. Even though the media has told us more about Biden’s dogs than it has about any of the Americans killed by Islamic terrorists enabled by the open borders that Biden just reinstated, no one cares.

Biden isn’t a charismatic leader. He isn’t moving the cause forward. He’s a placeholder for a ruling class that wants homes in Dupont Circle that it buys by selling out America to China, by ruining our economy with environmental consulting gigs and racial contract quotas, and for all the manifold ways which the swamp is coming back as Biden’s wetlands restoration project.

“Hail to the Thief” is as much their anthem as it is Biden’s. They fought to keep hold of D.C., the center of their power base not because they care about its history or that of this country, but because it’s where they network, collaborate, and do their dirty little deals at our expense.

The troops in the street are their warning to the rest of the country about who is really in charge.

Precisely so. But I don’t think of Bai-Ding as a placeholder. In my mind, he’s more like Charlie McCarthy; if you want to know who really runs things, you need to look for the guy whose knee he’s propped on—the guy with his hand up the back of Charlie’s shirt, making his mouth and eyeballs move. Look closely enough and sometimes you can even catch the ventriloquist’s lips moving.

But I still do hope that the fortification and militarization of Mordor OTP will be a permanent thing, eventually adopted by every large shitlib city. Let the orcs be forever walled off from the knaves they so cruelly exploit and abuse. Let the knaves be stripped of any lingering illusion concerning the true nature of their masters. Let the Ruling Orc-class be inconvenienced, discomfited, and frustrated to the greatest degree possible, their daily round blighted by the dispiriting pall of the very Shadow they conjured over the rest of us. Let us see the way of things clearly, at long, long last.

Blackbird buzz

A great story from start to finish, but do stick with it. As with so many other things in life, the best parts come in at the end.

Quoth WeirdDave: “If you’re going to buzz the tower, why not do it in a Blackbird, that’s what I say.” I couldn’t agree more.

MORNING IN AMERICA!!!

With the long-overdue ascension of a competent, sure-handed patriot as our President, the USA has its feet firmly back on the path to greatness.

President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris delivered remarks at the Lincoln Memorial to honor American COVID-19 victims Tuesday, the same day the national death toll surpassed 400,000.

“To heal, we must remember,” Biden said, with the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool behind him. “It’s hard sometimes to remember. But that’s how we heal.”

It was Biden’s first stop in Washington after arriving earlier in the day ahead of his inauguration on Jan. 20.

Organizers placed lights around the perimeter of the pool, a first-time measure, according to the transition team, to memorialize the victims.

“Between sundown and dusk, let us shine the lights in the darkness along the sacred pool of reflection and remember all whom we lost,” Biden said.

President Biden, inarguably already the greatest President this country has ever been fortunate enough to have in office, healed the wounds of a grieving nation with this incredible memorial. Which was in no way calculated or emotionally manipulative, not even slightly.

As it happens, I was picking up an order at an African restaurant on North Tryon Street and caught the Fox News coverage of the momentous event, live, during my interminable wait. As accurately and fairly reported by the Fox journalists—bona fide giants of their noble profession that they are, all of them—it was an incredibly moving tribute indeed. Certainly every American heart was profoundly touched by our beloved new President’s eloquent and heartfelt remarks. The souls of hundreds of millions of Americans wantonly murdered by the previous Oval Office despot’s botch-job of a response to this devastating plague would no doubt have soared in response, “freed at last” by President Biden’s (PBUH) stirring words.

If there was any such thing as a “soul.” Which there isn’t. What silly, superstitious nonsense. C’MON, MAN!!!

We can all look forward to many, many more beautiful moments like this, as our new President takes swift and decisive action to sweep away the damage intentionally done by his warped, genocidal, illegitimate predecessor, whose filthy name must never befoul American mouths again. Ever.

President Biden, thankfully, has arrived not a moment too soon. A new, better tone has been established, unity and civility restored. A proven leader of men—an original thinker whose deft touch has indelibly marked American life over his too-brief five decades of public service—now stands at the helm, to steer America to more glorious heights. Every patriotic American should be grateful for this greatheart’s selfless acceptance of the burden of leadership. We shan’t see his like again.

An idea whose time has come

I’ve been firm in my belief that, contrary to the common assertion, the actions of our rulers do NOT indicate that they fear us. I admit, however, that I could easily be wrong about that.

Fortress DC: Capitol locked down a week ahead of inauguration
Washington, D.C., has many of the looks of a war zone.

In an unprecedented move, the government and private sector have partnered to lock down the district ahead of next week’s inauguration.

Normal security precautions for an inauguration entail blocking off streets near several locations a couple of days in advance. This year, neighborhoods near the White House, Capitol Hill, and in between the two famous buildings have transitioned into fenced-in city blocks where residents cannot drive out of apartment building garages or even walk outside without expecting to be questioned by police.

While the pandemic has kept many at home instead of heading into the office for work, streets downtown lay bare by Thursday, eerily silent. Some Washingtonians loaded up on groceries as if it was the onset of the coronavirus.

The preparations come after law enforcement announced that it was aware of four plots to attack the Capitol ahead of President-elect Joe Biden’s swearing-in ceremony.

Washington is swarming with law enforcement and soldiers. More than 20,000 National Guard personnel from the District of Columbia and neighboring states are in town to guard the Capitol and other federal buildings from mobs that could form outside them in the days leading up to Wednesday. The troops have continued pouring in all week from as far away as Minnesota and Illinois.

The Metropolitan Police Department called in law enforcement from across the country to help. Up to 4,000 federal officers from the U.S. Marshals Service will be deputized and on the streets. The Federal Bureau of Prisons is also “making plans to send specially trained officers” into town, according to a spokesman.

The Department of Homeland Security moved its lockdown of Washington up by nearly a week at the request of Mayor Muriel Bowser, which allowed inaugural security forces to set up miles of barricades across town early. Dump trucks, buses, and other large vehicles were parked in dozens of roads to prevent attacks from vehicles.

The National Mall, where the public normally gathers to watch the swearing-in of a new president, will be off limits to locals and visitors, the National Park Service announced Thursday. The National Mall includes the Washington Monument and stretches nearly a mile and a half east to the back of the Capitol, where the inauguration takes place. Most Smithsonian museums are located on the National Mall and were closed in late 2020 due to the rising number of coronavirus numbers regionally. Indoor dining was banned in late December and has since been extended through the inauguration, forcing people to eat outside, which many are likely to forgo given potentially dangerous conditions outside.

Biden and Bowser have asked the public not to travel to Washington to attend inauguration festivities.

Not a problem, believe me. In fact, the more I think about it, the more I’m liking this whole roping-off of DC idea. The photos of cowardly Congresspansies cringing and crawling on the floor when their exalted “citadel of democracy” was breached by a handful of rowdy, hooting invaders were just delightful to me. The sight of the puling, spineless worms—inferiors in every particular to the people they so audaciously presume to rule—piled one atop the other, shivering and saucer-eyed with sheer terror, ought to warm the heart of each and every Real American who hasn’t been Gulagged yet for Crimes Against The State.

The pitiful spectacle presented by our supposed national “leaders” driven into witless panic by the prospect of being confronted by a mostly-peaceful gathering of their constituents could reasonably be construed as a tacit admission of their own illegitimacy—of having long since abandoned any serious claim that they’re functionaries of a Constitutionally-correct government. It was a wonderful thing to see as far as I’m concerned.

The thought of putting a permanent wall around DC guarded 24-7-365 by flint-eyed troops with shoot-to-kill ROEs, thereby sealing the politicians and bureaucretins in forever, sounds better still. Best of all, the same self-defense measures could be put implemented in every crumbling Blue-blighted urban shithole across the country, to protect Real Americans from invasion by the plague of Lefty locusts currently trapped therein. Swamplandia’s mayor appears to be on board:

Washington’s Mayor Muriel Bowser suggested to reporters on Friday that, due to the storming of the Capitol by groups of “white extremists,” heightened security measures in the district could remain in effect until well after Inauguration Day.

“We are going to go back to a new normal,” Bowser said. “We certainly have to think about a new posture in the city. So while we are focused on January the 20th, we are also focused on January the 21st and every day thereafter in the nation’s capital.”

I assure you I’m focused on the same thing myself, Yer Dizzhonor. Hoping to insulate your exalted, indispensible personages further from unwanted contact with We, The People? Worried that the filthy louts might somehow find a way to inflict themselves on you, despite your best efforts at enforcing social segregation? By all means, go ahead and physically wall yourselves off: entomb the entire squalid nest of DC parasites in their self-created ruin, then settle in for the long haul. No need to bother with hiring guards to patrol outside the wire. We’ll see to that ourselves, thanks.

Easy math update! Aesop runs the numbers.

BTW, proof that no insurrection was ever intended earlier this month: they have upwards of 30K troopies from the Notional Guard in DC, now.

We had 400,000 people on the National Mall on the 6th. That would have been 6 complete D-Day invasions-worth of American troops. Eisenhower didn’t have that many troops in France after the Normandy D-Day Invasion until July, a month later. If the MAGA crowd had actually wanted or intended to go all seize-the-government, (besides obviously not bringing a shit-ton more guns, nor any intent to hurt anyone) they could have conquered DC, Virginia, and Maryland, and held it indefinitely, with an army that size. (For reference, 400,000 people is approximately twice the size of the Marine Corps, anytime since the Vietnam War.) “Insurrection” my ass. That was a staged photo op co-opted by BLM/Antifa, for DNC propaganda gaslighting purposes, as we’ve seen non-stop every day since it happened. There aren’t enough cops east of the Appalachian Mountains to contend with a crowd that size were same intent on misbehaving, even if the po-po had been as inclined to murder as was one trigger-happy Barney Fife, determined to go all Tiananmanen Square on unarmed marchers, from safely behind a barricaded door.

If that crowd had been actually and truly hostile, those cops would have been found with their badges shoved up their asses, their severed jangly bits in their mouths, and their decapitated heads mounted as decorations on the spiked tips of the metal fence around the Capitol, and a few thousand marchers would have been wearing sweatshirts afterwards that said “Now I have a machinegun. Ho-Ho-Ho”

There’s another golden opportunity here in addition to the Big Beautiful (Bluetrap) Wall I mentioned:

Oh, BTW, those 30K guys in D.C.? Mostly NG MP units (per Big Country Expat’s info). Who are, overwhelmingly, civilian LE types in their day jobs. So Team Fraudulent has essentially stripped the entire Eastern seaboard cities and counties near those units of a good number of their regular police officers.

That shouldn’t have any downside, should it…?

Might be a swell time to go out and loot a few 72-inch TVs of our own, no?

A fitting tribute

Last night I made mention of Bon Scott, wondering whether or not he actually did play bagpipes. Turns out he did. That’s pretty cool all right. But wait, it gets even cooler.

AC/DC’s Bon Scott may hold bagpipes in new statue
A STATUE honouring former AC/DC frontman Bon Scott, to be erected in his home town, will feature the Highway to Hell star clutching a set of bagpipes – even though the instrument only figured on one AC/DC track – it has been proposed.

Plans to erect the monument to the singer in Kirriemuir, Angus, have been held back after campaigners disagreed over whether the likeness should be holding the traditional instrument instead of a microphone.

While local charity DD8 Music has already commissioned an architect to design the £40,000 figure, organiser Graham Galloway has launched a public consultation to decide what the people of Kirriemuir want to see in the rockstar’s hands.

Mr Galloway said today: “We’ve had a few people saying they are unhappy that Bon’s statue design features him holding bagpipes.

“We chose this design as we felt it emphasised Bon’s Scottish roots – something he was very proud of.

“It was also a link back to Kirriemuir, where Bon’s father Chick played in the local pipe band and, of course, Bon’s first experiences in music were drumming in the Fremantle band as a boy.

In order to gauge public opinion, Mr Galloway set up an online poll and at present, 85 per cent of the town is demanding bagpipes be included on the statue.

If they do this, I may have to relocate to dear old Scotland. Being of Scots-Irish descent on my mom’s side—as are multitudes of other heritage Southrons—I got roots there my own self. The Kirriemuir statue won’t be the first memorial honoring Bon’s iconic stature, however.

Scott is already honoured in a Kirriemuir street name and with an engraved stone slab in the town’s Cumberland Close alongside those of other famous people from the village.

In February 2008, a bronze statue of Scott was unveiled at Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour in Western Australia, where the singer spent much of his life.

I love it.

PWNED!

I fucking LOVE it.

Andrew Torba, the CEO of Gab, a free-speech alternative to Twitter, backed up President Trump’s entire account before it was deleted, and recreated it on Gab.

Gab is currently experiencing bandwidth issues over a surge in new users and attacks from liberal groups.

If Trump is looking to find a new social media platform, Torba seems to be nudging Trump to go to Gab, though it is not clear whether that is the reason behind the recreation of Trump’s Twitter account on the platform. The account has “Pro” status and states that the account was created in August 2016. The account does not follow any other accounts but has 1.2 million followers.

Those bandwidth issues appear to be genuine; when I tried to look in my own Gab page just now, this is what I got:

Gab is growing rapidly in a historic exodus from Big Tech, and fending off sophisticated attacks that seek to silence and censor your ability to Speak Freely.

While we work to scale up there will be periods of growing pains, slowness, and even downtime. We would appreciate your patience and support during this.

I was never a Twatter person, and I’m not really a Gab person either. I’m way too, umm, verbose, shall we say, to be able to live within the confines of a 240-character limit; I’ve always been way more inclined to run to 2000 words or better. Hey, what can I say, I’m a long-form kind of guy. But best wishes for all success to Gab just the same; Torba’s sly maneuver today was a thing of beauty, and I cheerfully tip my cap to him for his stylish derring-do. Why Trump didn’t make the switch over there long ago is beyond me.

AT LAST, IT’S HAPPENING

I’ve been watching the news from DC and fielding call after call from all kinds of people all day, but I wanted to at least get one post up on the storming of the Capitol building, evacuation of Congressional traitor scum, and the like. It’s a sad day, but also a great one. This is the beginning of real, meaningful change at long last, and I pray that it continues on for however long it takes to achieve a successful retaking of our nation. Godspeed to all those brave patriots who willingly placed themselves in harm’s way to be a part of this historic effort. May tomorrow morning find DC liberally strewn with Commie traitor corpses, all lit up by the flames of Mordor On The Potomac burning to the fucking ground.

Consider this a sort of catch-all open thread for the nonce, y’all. I’ll have more to say this evening, you betcher.

Laying down the law

They ain’t playing in Clay County, Fla.

Trust me, you don’t want to miss a word of this one, folks. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I’ll say it again: no matter how many cops like this guy there might be out there, we will never, ever have near enough of ’em.

Update! On the other hand.

A Black Lives Matter supporter attacked a Trump supporter this evening in Washington, leaving her face bruised and bloody. When other Trump supporters demonstrating for the president’s reelection struggle stepped in to protect the victim and request that the police arrest her assailant, the police responded by pepper spraying the entire group.

The DC Metro Police have repeatedly proven that the Blue Lives Matter movement must readjust their sights away from city cops. City cops are a different breed, they will cowardly follow the orders of Democrat mayors and stand down while cities burn, but they will quickly step into attack their own supporters.

Why defend them? Why pretend they are valiant heroes running into the Twin Towers?

GP reports on the only logical response:

A pro-Trump Marine went off on the DC Police after officers maced Stop the Steal protesters the night before Wednesday’s big rally.

Police have been using a very heavy hand with Trump supporters to protect the Antifa and Black Lives Matter militants who are gathered in BLM Plaza.

“You lost both sides of support. We had your f***ing back, but we ain’t got your back no more!” the man shouts.

Just as we can never have enough cops like that Florida sheriff, in certain parts of the country we are badly oversupplied with, y’know, the other kind.

An American President…for a change

A most rara of avises.

It had been so long since we had an American president, many people had forgotten what it was and should be like. And after decades of anti-American, cultural Marxist indoctrination in American schools and popular culture, others thought it was a terrible thing. Neo-Dem Never-Trumper William Kristol tweeted: “I’ll be unembarrassedly old-fashioned here: It is profoundly depressing and vulgar to hear an American president proclaim ‘America First.’”

No America-hating shitlib could’ve said it better, you vile bastard.

Yes, Trump was a braggart and a blusterer. Yes, he insulted people. Yes, he was often inarticulate. Yes, he showed none of the polish to which we have become accustomed from those who claim to be “experts” in how our government, and our daily lives, should be run. He was derided as an amateur, a non-expert, and he was: for some, that was one of the most important bases of his appeal. For Trump, unlike every other president going back to Reagan, and unlike most others before that going back to before Woodrow Wilson, dedicated his every act as president to putting Americans first and bettering their lives, and he wasn’t afraid to go against the conventional wisdom and decades of precedent to do so.

This often paid spectacular dividends. In June 2016, Barack Obama ridiculed Trump’s pledge to attract U.S. companies that had moved out of the country back to the United States, asking Trump, “What magic wand do you have?” Trump’s magic wand was an unprecedented initiative to cut regulations on businesses and drastically lower taxes.

It began to work immediately. Harry Moser of the Reshoring Initiative, which tracks jobs returning to the U.S. from companies that had relocated elsewhere, stated, “I’d say 300, 400 [companies], at least, announced in 2017” that they were returning. They brought jobs with them. In 2019, unemployment was at 3.5 percent, the lowest it had been since 1968. The Trump administration also set record lows for unemployment among blacks and Hispanics and record highs for the stock market. Trump proved the point that had been made in the 1920s and subsequently forgotten: lower taxes and fewer regulations mean that businesses can prosper, and when businesses prosper, so do the Americans whom they employ.

In foreign policy, though he was derided as “isolationist,” Trump brought about stunning and unprecedented peace deals between Israel and Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Sudan, and Morocco. John Kerry had smugly warned that no peace in the Middle East was possible without first setting up a Palestinian state and reducing an already tiny Israel; Trump once again proved the “experts” wrong.

There is a great deal more. Donald Trump became president when the nation had lost its way. He made herculean efforts to bring it back to what the Founding Fathers had intended it to be: a bastion of freedom. As Trump said: “I never forget, that I am not President of the world, I am President of the United States of America. We reject globalism and we embrace patriotism. We believe that every American citizen, no matter their background, deserves a government that is loyal to them. The Democrat Party and the extreme radical left are trying to abolish the distinction between citizens and non-citizens.”

Is it any wonder they were willing to go to such extreme lengths to get rid of him?

FINALLY!

Not a moment too soon, either.

Pomp Hair Salon in Stockton California was raided by state officials who cited the salon for continuing operations. The subsequent misdemeanor citation comes from the state. However, local law enforcement and county prosecution say they will not participate in the enforcement mechanism.

This creates an unusual dynamic as the state has threatened to revoke licenses for the salon and the workers; but what “enforcement” action could the state undertake?

The issues highlighted here cover more than hair salons. Restaurants and bars are facing similar threats from regulatory agencies: Dept of Health, Bureau of Alcohol, etc. It is the regulatory issue that keeps many business owners in fear of defying COVID lock-downs.

If local officials break from state regulatory and compliance demands, there’s no precedent for what enforcement action a state might attempt to take unilaterally.

Would ideologically prone state governors attempt to send State Police to enforce their unilateral fiats and face a showdown with local law enforcement?

It is into this dynamic when everyone should remember the County Sheriff is the highest constitutional officer in the region. A county sheriff can nullify any outside law enforcement agency by simply not complying. This is a well known issue inside law enforcement.

This takes the blue state (totalitarianism) -vs- red state (freedom/liberty) issue into a more granular distinction. Within the Blue States there are likely to be contests of power between local and state officials. It is an interesting dynamic.

Oh, I’d say it’s a good bit more than just “interesting.” It’s vital, is what it is.

A man of the People

We cannot spare this man. He fights.

Once upon a time, there was a president called Ronald Reagan—a model of decency and probity, at once great and self-effacing, who, above all, was truly in love with America and saw it as his sacred mission to preserve and strengthen American freedom. During his eight-year tenure, he revitalized the U.S. economy, snapped us out of what his disastrous predecessor had referred to as “our malaise,” and helped bring down the Soviet Union.

Then he walked off into the sunset. And for the next seven presidential terms, we had to make do with mediocrity and self-dealing. Both parties were dominated by crime families—sorry, I mean political dynasties. The Bushes were uninspiring. The Clintons were pure slime.

The 1960s had introduced a toxic counterculture rooted in reflexive oikophobia. It had grown apace ever since. The Bushes did nothing to resist it; Clinton himself was very much a part of it. In a famous speech at the 1992 Republican convention, Pat Buchanan warned that America was in a “culture war”—a “war for the soul of America.”

He was right. But he identified the primary enemy as gays. In fact, the culture war had nothing to do with gays. It was about, among other things, professors who praised Marx and kids who wore Che t-shirts. After 9/11, it was also about people who, not knowing a thing about Islam, whitewashed it and claimed that America had deserved the jihadist attacks.

Buchanan’s speech was a great gift to the counterculturists: it enabled them to paint the GOP as a party not of freedom but of bigotry. He wasn’t alone. There were plenty of Republican politicians who, instead of being clear about the nature of the culture war, lazily played the anti-gay card.

Meanwhile the real enemy within grew apace, all but unopposed.

Then along came Barack Obama. He was the enemy within. His memoir Dreams from My Father suggested that he had far more affection for Kenya and Indonesia than for America. His mentor, Jeremiah Wright, was a virulent America-hater.

In the years that followed, the enemy within cemented its control over large swathes of academia, big business, and the news media. Poisonous academic notions about group identity, victimhood, oppression, and white supremacy went mainstream.

All seemed lost. Then Donald Trump came down that shiny escalator, introducing a campaign with a simple slogan: “America First.”

At first his candidacy looked like a stunt. But his performance in the primaries opened our eyes. For the first time since Reagan, we saw a worthwhile alternative to cowardly careerist politicians with no convictions and no cojones—pols who were, at worst, aggressively pushing a divisive, anti-American agenda and, at best, quietly overseeing America’s managed decline.

Media commentators, themselves products of the post-1960s counterculture, pronounced Trump a buffoon and a vulgarian; millions of Americans, however, looked at him and saw a potential savior—a real warrior who shared their love of America and who, it seemed, might just win the culture war.

On the contrary: I very much doubt all that many of us viewed him as a savior. In fact, quite a few of us, myself included, weren’t all that confident he’d be able to “win the culture war,” among other struggles. The war was too big—too many Enemy Within divisions occupying too many battlefields along too sprawling a front—for any realistic hope that one man might prevail.

We didn’t get behind Trump because we believed he’d win. We got behind him because we felt we could trust him to stand up and fight, that’s all. It seemed that, after decades of oleaginous GOPe grifters concealing their collaborationist con behind a smokescreen of empty promises and tough talk, Trump was serious about taking some swings. Perhaps he could even land a few solid blows here and there.

Real Americans finally had themselves a big-c Champion, a leader who was actually on their side for once, rather than just pretending to be. No, he wasn’t perfect. He made mistakes. He occasionally did or said things many of us didn’t agree with. And so what? After all the frustration, all the transparent insincerity, all the betrayal, we’d found an obstreperous pug who fully understood our interests and concerns, shared them himself, and was willing to openly take a stand for them without shame, apology, or throat-clearing. That’s all we wanted. That’s all that matters.

Trump was—s’cuse me, IS—a big, upraised middle finger from Real America, with a heartfelt FUCK YOU tattooed on it, directed at the whole sordid Swampful of corrupt belly-crawlers.

The GOPe traitors, the NeverTrumpTard swine, the oh-so-dainty Conservative Inc™ pundits who recoil in dismay and revulsion at the crude, gauche Orange Man’s buffoonery—they just don’t get him, any more than they get us. Which is just fine with me. Personally, I hope they never do. They SHOULDN’T get us; we are and of right ought to be forever beyond the ken of their ilk. If they ever somehow did figure us out, it would amount to a sure-fire warning that we’ve taken a wrong turn somewhere.

During his presidency, Trump has seemed almost to be acting alone, with members of his own administration and party lined up against him. Except in the final days of Richard Nixon’s presidency, when have we ever seen a president so alone? When in recent American history, except during the New York mayoralty of Rudy Giuliani, had so positive a turnaround been so obviously attributable to a single individual?

Yes, the idea of a country being saved by a single “great man” can be dangerous. In the last century, it led to the dictatorships of Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and several others. But facts are facts: Trump, today, is America’s essential man. Though surrounded by enemies in the White House, on Capitol Hill, and all over Washington, he’s enjoyed an unprecedented level of public support.

Never—and this assertion seems unarguable—have so many Americans loved their president so much, or trusted him so implicitly, or been so certain of his genuine concern for their welfare. Watching Trump rallies on TV, I’ve often found myself thinking: if only Adams or Jefferson or Franklin could see this!

Because this wasn’t by any means a Communist-style cult of personality, with people feeling scared not to cheer. This was the real thing—a good thing—a democratically elected leader being applauded by ordinary citizens from every imaginable kind of background for keeping his promises and for serving his people.

It’s another reason they hate him so desperately: both for having exposed their incompetent charade, and for having won the People’s undying loyalty and affection because he did.
