Catastrophe cascade

Hardly anyone expected that things would get this bad in 2020. Once the pandemic hit and states all over the country started instituting lockdowns, economic activity collapsed dramatically. U.S. GDP was down 31.4 percent during the second quarter of 2020, and that was a drop without parallel in all of U.S. history. In fact, that decline was more than three times as large as the previous record. But eventually states started to “reopen” their economies, and U.S. GDP for the third quarter is expected to show a significant rebound when the numbers are finally released. Of course we still aren’t even close to where we used to be, but at least things weren’t as bad as they were in the second quarter.

But now as the fourth quarter begins, it appears that economic conditions are heading back in the wrong direction again.

Follows, a list of fifteen truly grim portents, which are just the tip of a very, very big iceberg. No matter how desperately TPTB try to juggle and parboil the numbers, we’re only in the very beginning stages of an unprecedented, wholly self-inflicted disaster. It’s going to get worse, and may well never get much better.

Then again, the economy could well turn out to be the least of our worries before the year is out.

Now we are less than a month away from a presidential election that promises to be incredibly chaotic, and the extremely deep divisions that already exist in our nation are likely to get even worse. Many believe that this election will produce even more civil unrest, and that will likely depress economic activity even further.

I truly wish that economic conditions would “return to normal” and that all of us could get back to our old patterns.

But there isn’t going to be any “return to normal” any time soon.

Instead, very dark days are ahead, and those very dark days will shake this nation to the core.

Yep, that’s my conclusion too. Better get used to it, folks; as I keep saying, this is our New Normal, like it or not. Another one of those times when I hope and pray that I’m wrong, but…well, it ain’t looking like the way to bet.

If this video doesn’t get your blood pressure up after months of being forced to wear masks “for your safety,” then you’re probably dead already from the Chinese WuFlu (or at least that’s what the coroner scribbled on your death certificate).

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf and Representative Wendy Ullman (D-Bad People) were caught on a hot mic giggling about the “political theater” they were about to partake in at a press conference. Wolf is heard telling Ullman he’s going to take off his mask to speak while Ullman responds that she’s going to keep hers on for the cameras to make sure people see her in it. “I’m waiting so we can do a little political theater,” she says, laughing. “So it’s on camera!”

In other words, it’s all a game and you’re the butt of the joke. Enjoy this sh*tshow while I contemplate throwing a brick through a window somewhere.

Which will accomplish nothing whatsoever. Rather than ruining some poor schmo’s home or storefront to no good purpose, you might try throwing those bricks—and/or other needful things—at the heads of the dimestore dictators who’ve made such utter fools out of you, instead.

Update! The dimestore-iest dictator, the tinpotty-est tyrant of them all decrees: you bleating sheep either bend the knee, or you’ll feel the lash.

Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) announced on Tuesday that the city will “aggressively” move to enforce mask mandates and fine those who refuse to wear a face covering.

The mayor spoke about the continued actions in the city to combat the Chinese coronavirus, citing hundreds of additional city agency personnel handing out masks, encouraging testing, and “pushing back against misinformation.”

De Blasio also announced an additional enforcement measure: mask patrols.

“Anyone who is not wearing a face covering will be offered one, will be reminded it is required, and anyone who refuses to wear a face covering will be told that if they don’t put one on they will be fined, and anyone who still refuses will be fined,” he explained, noting that it will “happen aggressively.”

Oh, I’m quite confident it will, Herr Fuehrer. Tell us, though, what you intend to do once there aren’t any cops left in NYC to do your stormtroopin’ for you?

Bonchie sounds the note of despair.

This is not the kind of big news you want to get on an otherwise slow Sunday morning, but here it is. Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo is reporting this morning that there will be no Durham interim report or indictments coming before the election. By the wording, she may actually be saying there’s no report coming at all.

If true, this is a travesty of justice of the highest order given what has transpired the last five years.

Whether or not you believe this news will probably depend on the level of cynicism you normally operate with in regards to this topic. I’ve been far more skeptical of the Durham investigation than even I’d like to admit at times. While I want people to be brought to justice, it’s the kind of thing that never seems to happen when the targets are of a Democrat nature (yeah, I know Comey is a “Republican”).

There are other reasons to think this is true though. With only five weeks before the election, was the DOJ really going to throw an “election interference” bomb into the mix by indicting high-level anti-Trump figures right before the vote? That’s always been a fear of mine for a while, i.e. that those involved in this investigation and Lindsey Graham’s Senate investigation would successfully run out the clock and try to wait until the transition period. It appears both those things have happened, as we are now so close to the election that no one that lacks Trump’s will and demeanor, which is necessary to do what’s right in this case, is going to want to be seen as influencing the election. Trump wouldn’t care, nor should he, but Bill Barr might. Lindsey Graham would.

All of this should have ended months ago. The Durham investigation has now had nearly as much time as the Mueller investigation had. Graham’s Senate committee quite literally had years to get their interviews and report done. Now, even if they move before the election, they will be playing right into Democrat hands.

This is a strategic blunder, but it’s also a moral blunder. The American people need to know they have a justice system that treats all people fairly, regardless of political persuasion.

On the contrary, I strongly suspect that the American people—the more perspicacious and attentive among them, at least—know, and have known for quite a long while, that they have no such thing—nor do they have much chance of ever getting themselves one.

For starters, I agree with this completely.

I can rant and rave all day and all night about the many systemic problems we have with law enforcement in America. Too militarized; too isolated from the the people they are supposed “to protect and serve;” far too willing to protect their authority over absolutely harmless people…up to the point of shooting them; part of the disgusting schemes of most municipalities to use policing to increase their revenues via ticketing; and about a million other reasons.

But when people riot? All bets are off. I want the cops to swing those batons and bowl people over and shoot them with pepper spray, non-lethal rounds, and lethal rounds if the lives of the police or innocents are at any risk. I want them to use snipers to shoot anyone throwing incendiaries. I want them to arrest everybody, including the media stoking the fires of insurrection, the hilariously misnamed Antifa and BLM “medics,” who claim some sort of immunity, and then toss them in wagons and drive them out to some remote county jail for a few days of bliss in the general population.

I’m with ya, buddy. No cop-sucker I, but as I’ve said here many times: I have both family and friends who are cops, and have been around ’em my whole life. I’ll take a cop six days a week and twice on Sundays over any ten Burn Loot Murder or PantiFa types you could name. Yes, there are plenty of bad-apple cops out there, but by and large the boys in blue are okay with me.

Right up until I run across a sickening story like this.

Alecia Kitts drove an hour and a half from Marietta to Logan, Ohio to watch her son’s football game.

In the first quarter she was approached by an officer from the Logan Police Department because she was not wearing a mask.

According to Tiffany Kennedy, the woman who shot the above video, Kitts had not been warned for not wearing a mask prior to the officer approaching her. Kennedy also said that Kitts has asthma and that’s why she was not wearing a mask.

“There is no reason to tase someone and arrest them for not wearing a mask,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy also pointed out the female officer who is shown running toward the Logan officer and Kitts at the end of the video was not wearing a mask – pulling one out of her pocket as she was in pursuit.

“Alecia’s mom said that when the officer tased her, the current went through the bleachers and zapped the kid sitting there too.”

Kitts appears to be socially distanced from others in the crowd and sitting with her family. “There were only 25 or 30 fans from our town on our side,” said Kennedy.

Inexcusable, unacceptable, and completely intolerable. Being defunded ought to be the very LEAST of worries for Gestapo goons like these; asshole cops like this ought to be prosecuted for assault and thrown into general-pop for a good, long stretch of TRULY “hard time.”

Hoft asks: “This Is America?” No, Jim, it is not. It most certainly is NOT. Not even close, it ain’t.

Yeah, yeah, she offered resistance to Officer Friendly’s attempt to cuff her for not wearing the Mask of Submission. Well, so what? In the first place, she was in the right. The Founders would have expected no less from her, and from all of us, than flat refusal to comply with any and all contra-Constitutional tyranny, regardless of what flimsy “health-and-safety” excuse the Power pukes up for imposing it. It might not have been the wisest move; it might not have been the easiest path for her to take. But as a matter of principle, it was the correct one.

In the second place, the woman suffers from chronic asthma—a condition which, according to the Ohio decree (along with every other one I know of), provides her with preemptive absolution for the sin of refusing the Mask Of Submission.

But when I first started working on this post, right away I decided to hold off on putting it up to wait for the silver lining I anticipated: a budget-busting lawsuit that would leave Ms Kitts a very wealthy woman indeed. And lo, my patience has been rewarded, with not one but two silver linings cropping up.

A police officer who tasered a woman who refused to wear a mask at a middle school football game has been bombarded with death threats and racist insults.

Some of those opposed to the officer’s actions, according to ABC6, have begun inundating the Logan Police Department with angry and threatening phone calls.

A captain with the department stated that their office is currently receiving more than “300 calls an hour” regarding Smith, who has also received “multiple death threats and racial insults.”

Aww, what a shame. Sucks to be you, Deppitty Dawg.

A lawyer for Kitts, the woman who was arrested, has argued that his client was exempt from the law due to her asthma.

“Ms. Kitts explained to the policy officer and administrators that she has asthma, but they ignored her,” attorney Maurice A. Thompson told NBC4. “Their position was that un-masked asthmatic must leave the stadium, (which) is not consistent with any directive or other law.”

Go get ’em, then. Make ’em pay, but good.

First two don’t count

The title of the article says, “This city just banned candy from supermarket checkout aisles.” Now guess which city, and more particularly, what the political leanings of its goobermint might be.

Go on, guess.

Beginning in March 2021, Berkeley, California, will become the first US city to ban the sale of unhealthy food from supermarket checkout areas.

That liberal Bay Area city council unanimously voted Tuesday night that, starting next year, grocery stores larger than 2,500 square feet will be required to sell not the typical selection of junk food but 25 square feet of healthy items within the three-foot radius of the register.

The “healthy checkout” ordinance defines healthy as items containing five or less grams of added sugar and less than 250 milligrams of sodium per serving, according to ABC 7.

“We’re not saying you can’t have these goods. We’re just saying they’re not going to be right at the eye level of your children when they walk into the store and you’re waiting in that long line at check out,” Council Member Kate Harrison said. “We know that people that eat a lot of high-sugar and salty products have worse health outcomes and this particularly besets low-income communities and people of color.”

The decision is not intended as a punishment or a war on treats so much as a discouragement of poor eating habits, Harrison said.

“It’s not a ban, it’s a nudge,” she told CNN.

No no no, of course it isn’t. The ban comes along later.

Schumer makes the case so I don’t have to

On Tuesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Rachel Maddow Show,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) vowed that Senate Democrats “will use every tool in the toolkit” to try to delay Republicans from filling Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s Supreme Court seat.

Schumer said, “We have tactical options to slow them down. We will use every tool in the toolkit. Now, admittedly, McConnell has changed things, changed the rules, so we have fewer tools and they’re less sharp, but every tool we have we will use. Today, we delayed committees going into effect. We had the right to do that and we did it. Tonight, we’re on the floor taking up all the time on the floor to talk about how bad this potential nominee — and there will be many other things that we can use. You’ll see them in the days ahead.”

Which is exactly why this is how the thing ought to be done:

You do not have to have the Judiciary Committee conduct hearings. That’s only a tradition that evolved, and it’s something that’s taken place, but it is not required. It’s not mandated. It really isn’t, folks. The Senate does not get to pick their own nominee, which is what Chuck Schumer and the rest of the Democrats want you to think. They want you to think the president doesn’t have any idea what he’s doing, he doesn’t get a choice in the matter, only the Democrats get to choose, and they don’t. All the rest of this is nothing more than political posturing.

McConnell rule, and that was during the Merrick Garland controversy, and it said you don’t have a nomination in the final year of a presidency if the Senate is held by the opposing party. And that’s been largely true since 1880, and especially true since the court has become more political over the years. But there’s nothing that says that Trump can’t nominate a replacement. And there’s nothing that says the Senate cannot vote now.

Folks, I know the tendency is to believe the media on these things because our society is just overburdened with this false notion of fairness. There’s nothing about fairness in this. This is purely procedural. The president has the constitutional duty to name a replacement. The Senate gets to advise and consent, and that can be nothing more than a vote. They consent by voting “yes” or they don’t consent by turning down the nominee. But they don’t get three weeks to trash the guy unless they’re given it, but they’re not required.

So there’s no reason to wait. There is literally no reason to wait. There’s no requirement to wait. The 2020 election has nothing to do with this Supreme Court vacancy. The 2016 election has everything to do with it. And, by the way, it’s also not Justice Ginsburg’s seat. Her dying wish is that her seat not be filled until after the next — it’s not her seat. Like Kennedy’s seat in the Senate was not his seat. It is our seat, not hers.

Bingo, with great big bells on it. Short-circuit the whole disgusting Democrat-Socialist circus. Deny them the opportunity to viciously defame and destroy not just the poor nominee but his/her spouse, children, parents, all relatives going generations back, and the horse they all rode in on. Take every monkeywrench in Schumer’s precious little “toolkit” away from him, and blunt every “arrow” in Pee-lousy’s “quiver” too, by just flushing the hearing process entirely and moving straight to a Senate vote.

Then let the whole horde scream like howler monkeys with hemorrhoids, right up until the day Trump’s nominee is sworn in if they want to. There is absolutely no reason—Constitutional, ethical, or political—to continue playing the abhorrent Democrat-Socialist game, and every reason not to. They’ve warped the USSC confirmation process until it’s just a very unfunny joke on the entire country. The whole mess needs to be changed—lifted from the Swampy mire of dysfunction and remade into something Americans at least don’t have to be embarrassed about anymore.

So change it, then. Time to put this Demonrat dumpster fire out for good.

Tragedy, or atrocity?

Just sickening.

Jake Gardner — awaiting arrest after a grand jury in Omaha indicted him last week — shot himself outside a medical clinic in suburban Portland, Oregon, two law enforcement officials told The World-Herald. Police in Hillsboro, Oregon, found the 38-year-old former Marine dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound about 12:20 p.m.

Gardner’s attorneys, Stu Dornan and Tom Monaghan, said Gardner shot himself on the day he had said he would surrender in connection with manslaughter and three other felony charges stemming from the May 30 confrontation that led to the death of 22-year-old James Scurlock.

Now, both men are dead. By the same hand.

Sunday, Dornan and Monaghan blamed Gardner’s apparent suicide on a cocktail of behavioral health problems stemming from head trauma he experienced during military service; the belief that people were out to kill him; and an “incessant rush to judgment” by social media jockeys.

Dornan said Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine — who defeated Dornan in 2006 to become county attorney — had made the right call in ruling Gardner’s actions justified. Gardner had claimed that Scurlock had him in a chokehold and wouldn’t let go, despite Gardner’s repeated pleas to “get off me.” At the end of the 18-second struggle, Gardner switched the gun to his left hand and fired over his shoulder, killing Scurlock.

Grand jurors, under the guidance of a special prosecutor, ruled out self-defense as a justification.

Bottom line, Dornan and Monaghan said, Gardner had lost his bars (a landlord ended his lease after the shooting), his home, his livelihood. And he was about to lose his freedom. Add in behavioral health concerns, Dornan said, and suicide was not a surprise, even though his attorneys fully expected him to turn himself in Sunday night. Monaghan said Gardner did not leave a suicide note.

“I had the opportunity to talk with Mr. Gardner before his return, and he was really shook up,” Dornan said. “The grand jury indictment was a shock to him, it was a shock to us, it was a shock to many people.”

As a monstrous abuse of any reasonable concept of justice, shocking would certainly be one way to describe it, yeah. I can think of others. And so can Ace.

Is there really anything left to conserve?

After 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse shot and killed in self-defense two left-wing rioters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, credit card issuer Discover blocked its users’ ability to donate to his legal defense fund. Twitter suspended the accounts of journalists who wrote, “Kyle Rittenhouse did nothing wrong.” Facebook removed posts and videos—that is to say, evidence—that showed Rittenhouse in a positive light while threatening to delete the accounts of offenders sharing the verboten content.

“We’ve designated the shooting in Kenosha a mass murder and are removing posts in support of the shooter,” a Facebook spokesperson said. Along with the media, Silicon Valley proudly plays the part of judge, jury, and character assassin.

Throw a stone, and you’re sure to hit a major company that supports Antifa or Black Lives Matter. Throw a brick through Nike’s window, help yourself to some new shoes, and the multinational corporation will still pledge allegiance to your cause, a cause that receives sanction from much of the federal government as well. After all, that brick is great free advertising.

Based on a threat analysis conducted in August, three Department of Homeland Security draft reports concluded “white supremacist extremists [present] the most lethal threat” facing Americans headed into 2021. None of the drafts mentioned Antifa or Black Lives Matter as a domestic terrorism risk, but ranked “white supremacists” as a threat higher than foreign terrorist groups. The reason Antifa has not been designated a terrorist organization, as Trump said they would in late May, might be that DHS thinks straight, white males clinging to their Bibles and guns pose a more significant threat to our way of life.

A somber enough start, for sure, but we’re after bigger fish here.

To date, the ideological framework and power centers with which the elites justify their untouchable status, social functions, and influence remain fundamentally unchallenged. In the middle of an elite reaction, the Republican Party appears preoccupied with proving it isn’t racist.

“Conservatism” is not the tool we need when American society recently suffered a complete cultural revolution that created the consensus against which Trump crusaded to the White House, and which the ruling class is attempting to reassert. While socially conservative sentiments and aims are good, the only way to go back to what was, at this point, is to employ revolutionary tactics. Unless we find the will to disembowel the institutional entrails of the elites, their reactionary intrigue will only worsen. But this will be an impossible task if we view ourselves as the “conservative” force, as we should be working to overthrow rather than conserve the conditions that empower the ruling class to dispossess Americans of control over their national destiny.

If the aim is merely to survive this “revolution” and win elections, then we have only delayed the cycle a little while longer. To break the cycle, the engine of intrigue must be destroyed. We need the equivalent of the Hungarian “Stop Soros” laws. Entire federal agencies must be downsized and outright abolished. We must take to task corporations that have bankrolled mayhem and misinformed the public through censorship. If we do not do these things, elections will not matter in the end.

Given the cartoonish farce the Democrat-Riot Party has presented us, featuring Cadaver Joe being occasionally trotted out to flail and flub his way through another sparsely attended public appearance—hopefully without having shat his Depends before his wardens can hustle him back into lockdown in his secure, undisclosed basement—can we honestly tell ourselves that they matter all that much now?

I’m thinking very seriously about making this my final COVIDIOT shamdemic post.

A recent study claimed that the annual motorcycle rally held last month in Sturgis, South Dakota was a “superspreader event” infecting more than half of the 460,000 attendees at a cost of $12 billion to our public health institutions.

In a report titled “IZA DP No. 13670: The Contagion Externality of a Superspreading Event: The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and COVID-19,” claimed that “large crowds, coupled with minimal mask-wearing and social distancing by attendees” turned the rally into a “superspreader” infecting 260,000 people.

Authors Dhaval M. Dave, Andrew I. Friedson, Drew McNichols, and Joseph J. Sabia concluded that “the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally generated public health costs of approximately $12.2 billion.”

The public health risks of Sturgis were so rigorously studied by the authors that “no medical journal would touch it,” as bestselling author and public health writer Alex Berenson noted on Tuesday. Instead, the report was posted on the website of the obscure Insitute of Labor Economics, a leftwing German thinktank.

Our infotainment industry — formerly known as “the mainstream media,” and prior to that as “the news business” — went bonkers over the claim.

The Hill — formerly a respectable Washington-based publication — breathlessly ran the study’s claims as though they were undisputed by anyone without a political agenda.

PLEASE NOTE: I boldfaced all those mentions of new “cases” above for a reason, folks. To wit:

I am begging you not to use the enemy’s language. Stop saying “cases”. Correct people who do.

A positive test is not a case. A case is an active symptomatic illness in a person needing or seeking treatment. A case is not a person who just has the bug and has, say, only the sniffles. Most people who get this don’t develop anything like a serious illness. Many never even knew they had it!

Again, some positive tests are false. Most genuine positives tests not are not symptomatic. (Here is one example.)

Positive tests do not necessarily mean active infections. I told us months ago the test was likely picking up past infections. This has since been verified (and it was always likely). Also as we guessed a long time ago, using evidence from other similar infections, the best current guess of the infection fatality rate is about 0.3%. We used similar numbers to show pictures of the number of people likely already infected.

Propagandists and governments are using these false “cases” to cause unnecessary panic. When you hear somebody say “cases”, tell them, “You mean positive tests. How many of them required hospitalization? How many deaths were caused by the virus? How many died with it?”

Stop saying cases!

Also stop saying deaths. Say “attributed deaths”, or “deaths with but not necessarily by.” Poor use of language has exacerbated this crisis beyond all measure. Do not contribute to it.

From the very start of this fiasco, it’s been nothing but lies and deception, all the way down. Well, unless one would like to be generous about the thing and credit witless stupidity instead, which I admit is a possibility too. But either way, the scam served its purpose very well already; the soaring Trump economy has been thoroughly brought down, the Amerikan populace cowed and subjugated, the “new normal” established. The shamdemic horse has been well and truly flogged nearly unto death at this point, and I for one am sick and tired of hearing about the damned thing, much less talking about it here.

So unless it’s something other than yet another run-of-the-mill “whoopsie, got it wrong” admission from yet another gaggle of mutton-headed “experts,” I’m thinking of just packing it all in for good. Perhaps that will be harder to do than I think at the moment; could be my spluttering rage as TPTB smear yet another transparent lie into the faces of the gullible majority will force me to the keyboard for another rant on this tired topic. We’ll see.

Oh yeah, that Sturgis “superspreader” surge? Guess what.

According to South Dakota health officials, 124 new cases in the state—including one fatal case—were directly linked to the rally. Overall, COVID-19 cases linked to the Sturgis rally were reported in 11 states as of September 2, to a tune of at least 260 new cases, according to The Washington Post.

There very well may be more cases that have been linked to the early August event, but so far, that’s only 260 confirmed cases—about 0.1 percent of the number the IZA paper offers.

The results of the IZA paper “do not align with what we know,” South Dakota epidemiologist Joshua Clayton said at a Tuesday news briefing.

The IZA paper “isn’t science; it’s fiction,” Gov. Kristi Noem (R) said.

It’s also good election-time propaganda, apparently.

The Forever Lockdown

Don’t look now, but our masters just moved the goalposts yet again.

The notion that we would lock down our society until a vaccine is introduced to counter a virus with a 0.3% infection fatality rate and near-zero risk for non-immunocompromised individuals was shockingly insane. Then we were told that even after a vaccine is in place, the social control will not end because the vaccine will not fully work against COVID-19 for all people. Now, we are beginning to see that because indeed COVID-19 is not that much different from a pandemic flu, the flu itself will now constitute the new threshold for social control and panic in perpetuity. In other words, the totalitarianism that we blissfully accepted in March is here to stay forever, unless we reclaim our sovereignty.

“[Arizona] State officials Monday laid out a plan for ‘aggressively’ combating the upcoming influenza season as the COVID-19 pandemic lingers, with the first step being to urge people to get a flu shot as soon as possible,” wrote the Copper Courier on Tuesday. “The state plans to increase funding for Medicaid recipients to get flu shots, combine flu-shot sites with coronavirus testing facilities, and more, while also advocating many of the same measures meant to head off the spread of COVID-19” (emphasis added).

“Aggressively” combating freedom, more like. But note well the next part, which I’ll boldface for ya.

The Arizona paper was reporting on a press conference held by liberal Republican Governor Doug Ducey and Arizona health department director Dr. Cara Christ, when they warned about “a perfect storm” of lingering COVID-19 mixing with the flu season in the coming months. They warned about mask-wearing and shutting down businesses that don’t participate in their unproven social control rituals. They also revealed that indeed hospitals get overwhelmed to a degree during the flu season and now that fact, which we always lived with every year, will be used to control our lives.

Lest anybody think that the scourges of liberty and proper Constitutional governance exclusively inhabit the Demonrat Party. Hate to tell ya, but the infestation of Statist tyranny is far more extensive than that, I’m afraid.

Folks, we have come full-circle. When this all began in early March, we were warned by the World Health Organization that COVID-19 was the worst epidemic in generations, with an infection fatality rate of 3.4% and a hospitalization rate exponentially higher that was going to swamp all of our big-city hospitals. As such, there was no way to compare it to the flu. Anyone who did was treated almost like a Holocaust denier.

Now, those same control freaks are comparing COVID to the flu! See, if they were right about the threat level of this virus, the contrast between it and the flu would be black and white. Talking about the perfect storm between COVID-19 and the flu would be tantamount to tethering the health care concerns of cancer to those of a cold. But now the truth comes out that this virus really is not that much different from a pandemic flu and that hospitals are always crowded at the peak of even a seasonal flu, much less a pandemic flu.

In July, Justin Hart, founder of RationalGround.com, which promotes a rational approach to the virus, posted on Twitter a series of articles describing emergency measures in various ERs throughout the nation during the 2018 pandemic flu. Yet the media coverage at the time wasn’t incessant, it never became political, and the politicians never gave any thought to shutting down our lives. We lived with it, and few people ever heard of the 2018 pandemic flu.

That is all about to change. Now the flu is the new threshold for perpetual mask-wearing, draconian regulations on businesses and houses of worship, and government mandates of every facet of our lives.

And after that, it will be…something else. Whatever comes to hand for them, so as to keep the Sheeple fearful and compliant, and the slaugherhouse train rolling happily along.

Hence, the politicians have gone from “Don’t you dare compare this to the flu” to “We should be doing this for the flu as well.” In other words, there’s a reason why politicians and the media warn about a “new normal.” It’s not because COVID-19 will necessarily be with us forever; it’s because the tyranny of the government response had nothing to do with COVID-19. That was simply the perfect pretext because so much was unknown about it earlier this year. Now that everyone is conditioned to go along with the suspension of democracy for “public health,” it’s not even a political leap to use the flu as the next excuse.

My boldface above is exactly what I’ve said from the very start of this shamdemic fiasco. Believe me when I tell you that I take no pleasure whatsoever in having been right all along.

At present, we are at the point in this COVID “epidemic” where the flu season, which is driven more by symptoms and not testing, more definitely disrupts people’s daily schedules with illness. As Lamb notes, “By this logic, the virus would never go away and emergency powers will be indefinite.”

And indeed, that is exactly the point. That is their plan … if we let them get away with it.

Unfortunately and to our undying shame, that’s EXACTLY what we’ve done.

The Church Militant

Yeah, tell me again all about how it’s all about health, safety, and combating a profligately-overhyped virus, whydon’tcha. That one’s my favorite.

SEATTLE CLOSES PARK TO PREVENT OUTDOOR WORSHIP SERVICE: This notice sounds innocuous enough, just a legitimate public health measure. The reality is officials closed the park because it was the planned site for a worship time organized by a group of local churches, assisted by Sean Feucht. Feucht’s ministry organization has organized 19 services in 19 cities during July and August.

“This is the height of hypocrisy for the City of Seattle to turn a blind eye to riots, looting, and AntiFa, while refusing to let Christians gather in a public park to sing and worship,” Feucht said in a statement in response to the closure notice. “First the government shuts down churches. Now it’s shutting down parks to stop us from worshipping. Time to stand up church!”

If they don’t, they will soon be destroyed forever. And if they continue to submit to this naked tyranny, they will deserve to be. Michael Walsh’s sage advice from way back in 2012 is even more apt today:

In 1844, faced with a Nativist threat to burn down St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral (at Prince and Mott streets), John J. Hughes, the Irish-born bishop (and later first archbishop) of New York, gathered several thousand of his mostly Irish parishioners and deployed them around the church. Any attack on the cathedral, warned the man known as “Dagger John,” would be repulsed with force. The Nativists backed down.

During the Civil War, Hughes undertook a secret mission to Europe at the personal request of Abraham Lincoln, to rally support for the Union cause and keep Britain from entering the war on the side of the Confederacy. This he did in part by explaining the facts of the life to the English: that they’d have no luck in raising troops in restive, famine-stricken Ireland to fight against America, and a great deal of trouble if they tried.

Those were the days of the two-fisted Irish clergy, who understood their dual American roles as both the spiritual leaders of their people and — when necessary — political figures as well. But those days are long gone (Cardinal O’Connor was the last of the line).

It’s good to see the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops making noises about suing the government, but it would be even better to see Archbishop (and Cardinal-designate) Timothy Dolan get out front on this issue in a very public way. “Conscientious objectors” and “civil disobedience” were all the rage on the left during the Vietnam War and the draft,” and it’s high time we tried the same tactic on them: Catholic institutions should simply ignore the law, refuse to implement it, and refuse to pay the Obamacare fines — and dare the Left utter a peep about “higher morality.” There are 77 million Catholics in the U.S., and an awful lot of them vote.

In other words, Archbishop Dolan and his confreres ought to ask themselves, What Would Dagger John Do? No need for mobs this time, just morals. But if they’re not going to vigorously defend their own faith, in a Church Militant sort of way, who will?

Pretty sure I linked and excerpted this column way back in the day, I believe; honestly, I’m astonished that I even remembered. But when I read about the above instance of the broader rejiggering of the COVID “crisis” into a convenient tool to be wielded against all the perennial hate-objects of Leftist despotism—an abominable tide that has inundated the nation this disastrous summer—it became readily apparent that some things never change after all. More, from Walsh’s second follow-up to that first Dagger John piece:

I’ve written about Bishop John J. Hughes, the first Archbishop of New York, here and here, advocating that both the Catholic clergy and its laymen take a page from that tough mick’s book and deal with the Obama administration’s unconstitutional attack on religious conscience and the First Amendment the way Dagger John would have: by defying it.

Civil disobedience was all the rage on the left when I was a lad during the Vietnam War era. Refuse to register for the draft; declare your conscientious objector status if called; refuse to pay that portion of your taxes that went to support the Pentagon, etc. The liberals couldn’t wrap themselves in enough moral goodness as they cursed and spat upon the returning soldiers in their customarily peaceful and tolerant fashion.

Time to turn the tables by using their own weapons and tactics against them.

It was said of Dagger John that he was “more a Roman gladiator than a devout follower of the meek founder of Christianity.” To face the secular threat of the modern Left, we’re going to need a lot more gladiators.

It ain’t just the Christian church, both Protestant and Catholic, that needs to get its head out of the sand, shed all comforting delusions, and boldly defy our would-be masters. For all of us, it’s quickly boiling down to this simple expression: On your feet, or on your knees.

You don’t have to like it. But you DO have to recognize it.

In any war, to refuse to fight back vigorously is effectively to surrender. At such a perilous crossroads of history not only our freedom but our very future hangs precariously in the balance…waiting. A stark, binary choice must be made; there is no longer any middle ground, no third way, no half-measures. Anyone who declines to engage, in any way they can manage, in defense of what’s right, just, and true might as well just declare themselves actively in league with the enemy and be done with it.

Craven update! Oh, it’s the Church Militant alright. But not in the way Walsh meant.

Black Lives Matter DESTROYED and TORCHED the historic St. John’s Church in Washington DC in late May.

St. John’s was designed by noted architect Benjamin Henry Latrobe to serve Episcopalians in the neighborhoods in the western end of Washington. The cornerstone of St. John’s was set on September 14, 1815.

Beginning with James Madison, until the present, every President of the United States has attended a service at St. John’s Church.

BLM torched it.

St. John’s Church leaders invited Black Lives Matter to paint race-based themes on the boarded up church this weekend.

They did not ask for Christian themes — they asked for racial themes.

Well, I mean, this IS Episcopalians we’re talking about here. But still. One can’t help but wonder what or who might be influencing these pathetic fools to prostrate themselves at the altar of cowardice and appeasement. Could it be…ohh, let me see…SATAN?!?

This has been going on for decades, of course, but its most striking manifestation of late has been the near-total failure of the Christian church to expose and reject the destructive fraud that is Black Lives Matter.

That kind of failure requires extraordinary ignorance, extraordinary cowardice, or both. After all, it’s not like the veil hasn’t come off Black Lives Matter, if it was ever there in the first place. Its founders openly profess their allegiance to Marxism, history’s most genocidal ideology. Its members repeatedly encourage violence, destruction, and even murder. Its website calls for the “disruption of the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure”, the end of accepting heterosexuality as normal, and the avoidance of “environments in which men are centered”.

At least two of its leading lights—Patrisse Cullors and Malina Abdullah—practice a Yoruban zombie religion in which they may, or may not, sacrifice animals to invite the spirits of the dead to possess their bodies during their nightly riot activities. (Abdullah says she’s become very friendly with the spirits of the dead, and has had a lot of laughs with one named “Wakeesha”).

In addition, the cited catalyst for the entire movement—the “murder” of Trayvon Martin in 2012—is a lie. Trayvon Martin was not “murdered”. He violently assaulted a man named George Zimmerman by pounding his head into the pavement. Zimmerman then shot him in self-defense. That’s precisely why a jury of six women acquitted him. Yet Black Lives Matter is still calling it a “murder” on its website.

The second rationale for the movement—that a racist white cop gunned down an innocent “gentle giant” named Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri—is also a lie. After robbing a store, Brown attacked a police officer trying to arrest him. As a result, the officer shot Brown in self-defense. Attorney General Eric Holder himself confirmed this after an exhaustive review.

These aren’t the only Black Lives Matter lies, of course. It’s a lie that there’s an epidemic of racist police shootings. It’s a lie that defunding the police will help black communities (it does just the opposite, and has already directly enabled the murder of hundreds more black people, including children).

In short, you couldn’t invent an organization which more flagrantly violates a greater number of Biblical commandments and Christian ideals than Black Lives Matter. You have murder, beatings, necromancy, stealing, bearing false witness, covetousness, lying, insurrection against duly-elected leaders, worshipping false gods, assaults on the family, assaults on heterosexuality, and a transparently fake concern for the black lives every real Christian is duty-bound to see as creations of God. It’s a Satanic dream.

And yet…

Pretty much all of Leftism is a Satanic dream, really. Ironic that the modern libtard-subverted church would be so eager to grovel at the feet of the Prince Of Lies, solely in order to court the favor of people who hate them above almost anything else.

Holding back the Dismal Tide

Q: What happens if Trump loses? A: More, and worse.

In modern America, hypocrisy and double standards aren’t merely part of the business climate; they’re endemic to the whole society. Former Heritage Foundation scholar and Washington Times writer Sam Francis dubbed this system “anarcho-tyranny”: complete freedom—even exemption from the gravest laws—for the favored, maximum vindictive enforcement against the pettiest infractions by the disfavored.

Rarely has an analysis been so vindicated by events. Even before the 1619 Riots began in May, anarcho-tyranny was already the de facto law of the land. Can you remember the last time anyone in Antifa was punished for anything? I can’t. But I do remember community college adjunct philosophy professor and Antifa thug Eric Clanton walloping three people on the head with a five-pound iron bike lock—and the Alameda County, California district attorney letting him go with probation.

I also remember, in pre-apocalypse New York City, Antifa goons getting into a fight—it’s hard to say who started it—with a group of men calling themselves the Proud Boys. Although no one was seriously injured, the NYPD expended significant time and resources tracking down the Proud Boys, but none whatsoever looking for any Antifa figures involved. Two Proud Boys were sentenced to four years in prison. No Antifa members were ever identified, much less charged with any crime, still much less tried or convicted. At most, the incident was a mutually idiotic brawl for which only one side was punished. The real distinction here is that the Proud Boys are regime dissidents while Antifa thugs are ruling-class shock troops.

All that, though, was child’s play compared to the nightly horrors Antifa—and their BLM allies—have wreaked on America’s streets for three straight months with close to zero official attempt to rein them in, and often with officials cheering them on. Examples—from Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to Governors Gavin Newsom, Andrew Cuomo, and Tim Walz, to Mayors Bill de Blasio, Eric Garcetti, Lori Lightfoot, Jenny Durkan, Ted Wheeler, and Jacob Frey—are too numerous to catalog fully. The latest atrocity came from Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, who, the instant a career criminal wanted on an active warrant was shot while resisting arrest and, it appears, reaching into his car for a knife, took to Twitter to fire up the mob. His state’s fourth-largest city has burned every night since. It took him days to make even a token appeal for calm.

Then consider the fates of those not destroying America in the name of “social justice.” This story is still “developing” as they say, but as of Friday, August 28, a young man who appears to have had a Molotov cocktail thrown at him, a loaded pistol pointed at his face, and his head bashed with a skateboard after being chased by three Antifa thugs is currently in jail on a charge of first-degree murder.

The fundamental right of self-defense—the bedrock foundation of all our other rights—increasingly is not honored if you’re a member of a disfavored group and your attacker is not.

Our officials—at least in all the Democratic Party-controlled state and local governments—operate in the precise opposite way that they are supposed to. Instead of enforcing the law and maintaining order, they encourage riots, refuse to enforce the law, and then leap into action only when a victim defends himself. This is not incompetence or misguided idealism; it is evil. Should it continue, it will lead either to the collapse of the country or to revolution.

To return to more prosaic matters, should Trump lose, the repowered thought police will greatly expand its “enemies list.” Those deemed “dangerous” by the wokerati will be dogged by authorities. Any suspected dissident not as scrupulous as Caesar’s wife in his every interaction with the state will get the book thrown at him for minor, technical infractions of some law, executive order, or administrative rule. As the poor sucker is hauled away in cuffs by a heavily armed team of feds in windbreakers, CNN and MSNBC reporters—tipped off in advance to get it all on camera—will intone that this “dangerous white supremacist” with “ties to neo-Nazi groups” was “planning attacks.” Months or years later, after being held without bail, the unfortunate target will be convicted of something like mail fraud and given the maximum sentence.

All of this is easy enough to predict because it is either what the Left is already doing where it has the power, or what it says it wants to do.

The lessons of California and New York show that when leftists no longer face opposition, they do whatever they want—or try to. The problem (for them, for now) is that they still face opposition from the red elements still extant in the federal government, from red states, and from red communities in their own states. Once the whole country has gone blue, though, things will be…different.

Don’t kid yourself for one moment that things couldn’t possibly get worse. Stretch “Antoinette” Piglosi just made the ultimate case for why all professional politicians of right ought to be strung up from the nearest lamppost without delay.

And that case is Air. Fucking. TIGHT.

San Francisco salon owner Erica Kious disputed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) claim that she was “set up” by the salon this week when she broke COVID-19 restrictions and got her hair done at the salon, saying that Pelosi was the one who called and set up the appointment, and that she has been “coming in for quite a while.”

“She had called the stylist, or her assistant did, and made the appointment, so the appointment was already booked, so there was no way I could’ve set that up,” Kious said. “And I’ve had a camera system in there for five years. I mean, I didn’t go in there and turn cameras on as soon as she walked in to set her up. So that’s absolutely false.”

“So, Pelosi says that salons in San Francisco, and of course she lives there and she’s the most powerful democratic legislator in the world, but she said she understood that the restrictions allowed a one-on-one appointment in salons,” Fox News host Tucker Carlson said. “What do you make on that?”

“I heard that, and I thought to myself, well, as a hairstylist I see clients one-on-one, so, that would mean I would be open, right?” Kious responded.

“Are you open?” Carlson asked.

“No,” she responded.

Her Royal Majesty Piglousy, being who and what she is, has demanded an “apology” from the salon owner for daring to question her obviously justified elevation in status over the lowly peonage, and sent her legions of flying monkeys to avenge the disgrace of actually having to listening to the serf class having the temerity to question her about anything at all she wishes to do. Indeed, Her Most Puissant Highness is most displeased with you benighted swine, she is.

When asked what the shutdown has done to her business, Kious responded: “For the past six months, we’ve, I mean, we are pretty much done. I mean, we’ve lost at least 60% of our clients. I’ve lost the majority of my staff, so, six months is a long time to be closed down.”

“How do you feel about seeing the most powerful woman in America come into your salon in violation of the rules she supports, get caught, and then blame you for it?” Carlson asked.

You damned well better feel damned contrite about it, and hope that Her Liege is in a forgiving mood, lest she decree that your head be separated from your neck forcibly, with extreme prejudice.

“To be honest, it was more hurtful,” Kious responded. “She’s been coming in for quite a while, and just to see her come in and especially not wearing the mask, that’s what really got to me, but this isn’t even political. She’s been coming in there. It’s the fact that she actually came in and didn’t have a mask on, and I just thought about my staff and people not being able to work and make money and provide for their families, and if she is in there comfortably without a mask and feeling safe, then why are we shut down? Why am I not able to have clients come in? So, it’s been hard.”

“If Nancy Pelosi feels comfortable using your salon, why can’t civilians use it?” Carlson asked.

“Exactly and I’ll be honest, in our area in San Francisco, we are obviously the last county or city to not open,” she answered. “We’ve been trying to figure that out. We’ve been asking ourselves these questions for six months—I mean for the past actually four months, of why we are not reopened, and it’s kind of a good question. Again, we don’t know.”

Kious later stated that she does not plan on staying in San Francisco after this whole ordeal because of how the community has treated her in response to the situation with Pelosi.

I do hate to come across all churlish by pointing this out here and all, and I am most definitely on her side and wish her no ill, but…well, this being San Francisco, and knowing as I do the typical political leanings of the many, many salon owners and stylists I’ve known all through the years, well…I DO have to wonder who Ms Kious might have been voting for all these years, y’know?

No matter. I’d bet that after this dustup, however Left she might (or might not, in fairness) have been before, Kious is most likely a good deal less so than she was.

Anybody remember the quaint old days of yesteryear, when Americans used to take great pride in living in what they used to call a “classless society?” Nah, me neither. Hell, those days were long gone at least as far back as 1966 or so, as Gomer knew full well:

As Piglousy and her minions continue to wreak a swift and terrible vengeance on this poor pee-on, inflicting complete ruination on her and her family so as to remind her of the proper place in “American” society of such as she, it will serve as a stark reminder for the rest of us of just how very far the former Republic is from Mayberry nowadays.

Submissive update! David Marcus searches hard for a silver lining.

Perhaps some good can come of Pelosi’s ignominy. Perhaps seeing her insane hypocrisy, owners will start opening their businesses and daring petty tyrants like Mayor de Blasio and Gov. Cuomo to shut them down. One of the truly remarkable — and chilling — aspects of the more arbitrary lockdown rules is that, in general, they have been consented to, not enforced. We have given away our rights as much they have been taken from us. Well, if Pelosi doesn’t have to live under these absurd restrictions, then neither should you.

The jig is up here. People have a right to feel frustrated and furious, and they also have a right to disobey these crushing laws that Democratic leaders impose but refuse to live by.

If all of this is beginning to feel to you like a sick charade, you aren’t alone. This is a slap in the face, but Democrats and their media allies don’t care. They are counting on you to just take it. But the American people can only take so much before they start demanding their lives and livelihoods back.

Might be time to bring back some old, tried-and-true favorites—like tar and feathers, riding on a rail, and the stocks.

Hotting up

Wanna talk terrorist murder, shitlibs? Assassins? I don’t think you do. I really don’t.

On Saturday, hundreds of Trump supporters gathered in the outskirts of Portland in a “Cruise Rally” in pick-up trucks with a lot of Trump 2020 flags decked out all over the cars.

After their rally, they then decided to drive into Portland. They were set upon, in the words of the media, by “counter-protesters” otherwise known as radical leftists/Antifa folk.

Leftist tried to block some of the cars, other cars they threw things at, threatened or stole flags from. Some of the Trump supporters defended themselves with pepper spray or paintball guns. There were multiple fights between the two groups.

But as we reported earlier, the worst incident was when a man came up and apparently walking up to the Trump supporter and fired point blank, killing him.

Then they celebrated the death of the Trump supporter, cheering when one of their leaders announced he was dead, even burning an American flag in the celebration, after slandering the man calling him a “nazi” and saying “our community held its own. they “took out the trash.”

The rancid piece of subhuman debris who pulled the trigger appears to be a 48 year old snowboard instructor named Michael Reinoehl.

The Nationalist Review wrote in their in-depth report, “the 48-year-old ‘professional snowboarder’ was previously featured on a Bloomberg promo for the riots where he described himself as part of the rioter’s security apparatus. Reinoehl touted his military experience and described events that led up to him receiving a bullet grazing on his arm. In the video, a neck tattoo identical to the shooter’s own tattoo is seen on his neck.”

What goes around comes around, scum. But just get a load of Portland riot co-conspirator Ted Wheeler’s response to Trump repeatedly calling him out for the nefarious muttonhead he is:
