The choice

Do, or die.

How each of you reading this decide to answer this question will determine the course of history. Will the domestic enemies of the US Constitution complete the destruction of the Document and the subversion of the American Republic, or will 70 million Americans fight so that those on the Left are defeated and held accountable? Make no mistake, there are no good choices. We are well past the point of having good options.

If we choose, as liberty loving people, to resist this communist coup, there will be blood. The Left has promised, and proven, violence if their coup is resisted. Many may die, patriots, tyrants, and innocents caught in the middle in the next few months. Some of us reading this may die. Some of our wives and children may die. The Union may fracture, perhaps irrevocably. The fabric of America will be irrevocably changed, and not for the better. This will start a civil war, and nobody truly wins in such a conflict. Isn’t the alternative better? If we just give in, won’t the Left leave us alone? What does history tell us?

If we surrender without fighting, as the Left is desperately urging us to do, then history tells us what happens next. Just as in Russia after the Revolution, or Germany when the National Socialists took power, or Venezuela, or in every other country where the Left has stolen the power of government, without exception, Liberty loving folks will be progressively and relentlessly hounded. Using the full force of the Federal government, initially in the ‘blue’ states, but increasingly everywhere, the Left will attack anyone they view as their enemy. Trump voters will be targeted, small businesses will be obliterated, the middle class will be but a memory, and any attempt at resistance will be crushed by the Left using the mechanisms of the Federal government. If you thought that the FBI, the IRS and the EPA under Barry Soetero were bad, then just wait and do nothing, and see what happens next.

States that voted for Trump will receive disproportional attention; denial of revenues, increased regulatory attention, investigations and harrassment of state legislators, and targeted violence and assassinations of influential state politicians. Self defence will be made a Federal crime and the means for self defence likewise criminalized. Worse, there will be no chance of change for the foreseeable future; once having stolen control of the Federal authority, the Left will never permit any repetition of Trump’s 2016 Federal victory, and all subsequent “elections” will result in victory by the Left. Just as in communist Russia, socialist Germany, and progressive Venezuela.

Should Trump fail to use the Insurrection Act, or his 2018 Executive order to smash this coup and if We The People do not wholeheartedly support him if he does, then rest assured that once the Left gains power, they will not hesitate to use these instruments, and others, together with the entire mechanism of the Federal government against their enemies. Against us. The Left has promised this, and can be expected to deliver. There will be no peace, should we fail, except the peace of the grave, and those not killed will be slaves to the Left, allowed to live on sufferance, and the Left will ensure that the survivors suffer. These united States will become Portland Oregon writ large.

I see no other realistic alternatives before us. We all will die someday. Either we run the risk of death in a hard fought civil war or we surrender and face the certainty of oppression and death by the Left, backed by the power of the Federal Government that we surrendered into their hands.

I really, really wish I could say he’s wrong. But…I can’t.

It would appear that Liberty loving folk here in these united States are awakening to the idea that their freedoms may indeed be gone if THEY do not do something about it. Most folks, having never considered the subject, are reasonably enough at a loss for how to proceed. One of the reasons that I am a student of history is that while technology changes, human nature does not. It is always worth examining the strategy and tactics of the enemy for useful means and methods, and while I revile the result, one has to regard Lenin’s approach as successful, especially since the American Left has emulated it so closely. What did Lenin say should be done?

After walking us through a few examples from the historical record, he gets down to brass tacks.

Rage is the appropriate emotional response, but rage, by itself, is insufficient. Liberty loving folks are late to the party and we are fragmented, divided and under ongoing assault. So, assuming Biden is illegitimately installed in what will once again be the Spite House, what are we to do about it?

Make our weakness our strength. A grass roots resistance movement numbering in the millions, composed of tens of thousands of small independent cells cannot be effectively infiltrated. Hidden in the body of the American people it cannot be overtly crushed militarily. And with somewhere between 600 million and a billion small arms, with over a million unlicensed machine guns, it cannot be disarmed. Unless we consent.

The road to a successful resistance movement is a journey, and each individual in it has to walk that road at their own pace. The key is starting the journey, establishing the habit of independent thought and action as you take each step. Some may move faster than others and are willing and able to go farther in their journey, but that does not matter as much as your commitment to Liberty.

First, establish your own ideological foundation. Ask yourself, and be sure that you understand the answer to the question, “What is the primary function of government?” If, like me, you believe that the primary function of government is to protect life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, then you are a friend of Liberty. Satisfy yourself and understand the reasons why you believe that the present actions of the Left are INTOLERABLE. Not just evil, but not to be tolerated under any circumstance. Withdraw your consent from what would be an illegitimate government. Once you have established that in your mind, then take the next step.

Follows, a whole slew of specific ideas, my far-and-away favorite of which is this:

We’ve talked about the need for the Freedom Forces to have a robust logistical infrastructure, but we must also consider attriting the Left’s infrastructure. One way to do this is to shun them. Have nothing to do with a Leftist; refuse them service if you can. If forced to, give crappy service in the guise of stupidity or incompetence. If you are a barista, put salt in their coffee instead of sugar, or put too much sugar in.  Never give them what they want. Overcharge them. Give them the two day old pastries or the moldy ones with the mold scraped off, especially if they are taking it “to go”. If you get a complaint, take refuge in the rhetoric of the Left, accusing them of ageism or sexism, or racism if you are a person of color. If you are involved in online sales and can identify your customer as a leftist, send them the wrong stuff; my wife ordered gloves and got a bunch of food containers, purely by accident. This was amusing, but imagine a Leftist receiving a copy of Trump’s “Great Again” instead of the Lenin’s “State and Revolution.” Confusion in medical records is always interesting if it is possible to do without being traced. The point is, make their interactions with Americans as unpleasant as possible, and never relent. Be innovative and creative. Take another step.

I LOVE it. A tremendous part of our problem, arguably the biggest single reason why we’re where we are in the first damned place, is that the Left has never suffered real consequences for their abominable actions. Therefore, what reason do they have to cease and desist? So be it, then; suffer they must—REAL suffering, I mean, REAL pain. The kind of pain not easily forgotten, the kind of soul-deep agony that instills intense reluctance to ever again offer offense against those who inflicted it.

Real Americans have only ever wished to be left alone, to be allowed to live their lives in peace and at least some semblance of freedom unmolested. The Left chose to deny that wish, most emphatically and with extreme vindictiveness. It must be driven home to them that they chose….poorly, and to regret it so profoundly they’ll never feel the slightest temptation to make the same mistake twice.

Annus horribilis: that was the year that was

Look back in anger.

This year has been strange in many ways, but one bit of weirdness that has gone unnoticed is the paucity of predictions for the coming year. For as long as anyone reading this has been alive, this time of year has featured both year in review content and predictions content. This year both have been limited. Maybe the awfulness of 2020 is keeping people from thinking much about it. The wild unpredictability we have seen has probably made forecasters squeamish about predicting anything.

Y’know, now that ZMan brings it up I’ve noticed the same myself, although I didn’t really think too much about it. He sizes up a few his own predictions from last year:

The Light of Lagos was pretty much a dud last year. The omens got some of the Democrat primary right, but not enough to claim a victory. Biden did struggle and Warren flamed out early. Buttigieg did better in Iowa than most expected, but Sanders was the story until the party rigged the system to install Biden. No one predicted Biden would win the nomination and no one ever imagined that buffoon as president, so the omens can be forgiven for missing that one.

The impeachment fiasco played out as predicted, but that was easy money, so no victory lap there either. The real shocker is in how the whole thing was thrown down the memory hole so quickly. No one talks about it. It’s like how someone gets crazy drunk at a party and makes a fool of himself. The next day there is some ribbing from friends, but then it is forgotten. The Democrats danced around with a lampshade on their heads and after it was over, everyone forgot about it.

Now, the big hit was the Barr stuff. It is amazing how so many people thought something would happen with that charade for so long. When Trump brought Barr in it seemed like something would happen, but it quickly became clear that it was just another coverup. Barr was brought in to make sure the truth of the FBI corruption never saw the light of day. You have to wonder if Trump was too stupid to see what was happening or that he signed off on it, despite his tweets.

Of course, the big miss was the Covid panic and how it has been used to turn much of America into a penal colony. No one predicted it, because such a thing seemed implausible just a year ago. It really is shocking to think about how much has changed in just 12 months. This time last year people were planning vacations, walking around with no curfew, having people over to their homes. If someone had predicted this, they would have been dismissed as a crazy person.

Yup. Those loony “conspiracy theories” don’t look quite so loony when they’ve become mundane reality, just how we all live now, do they? All in all, the situation brings to mind Hemingway’s famous response when asked how he went bankrupt: Gradually, then all at once.

That’s the way these things usually go, although it may feel otherwise sometimes. The subtext here, like it or not, is our slow national devolution into tyranny. As with Carl Sandburg’s fog, tyranny creeps in on little cat feet, quiet and little-noticed. At the end-stage of its establishment, its confusticated victims are left wondering what the hell hit ’em. The difference is that tyranny never just “sits…on silent haunches, and then moves on.” It lingers, constantly expanding: strangling, draining, devouring all within its grasp.

The only rights tyranny acknowledges are exclusively its own, and without limit. All claims made by its subjects asserting rights of their own are of no interest or import, spurious impositions unworthy of serious discussion. Tyranny will be moved not a whit by appeals to reason, justice, or mercy. It doesn’t repent, relent, reconsider, or admit error. Nor does it ever just go away on its own, peaceably, which would amount to a tacit admission of error. To be rid of it, tyranny must be driven off by force, which takes quite a bit of doing. It’s an arduous process, by no means quick, convenient, or painless. But it’s the only option.

Should the effort to overthrow tyranny and restore liberty prove successful, it will by no means be irreversible; the very idea that victory even could be permanent must be vigorously shunned. Such complacency is extremely dangerous, and is the surest way to hasten tyranny’s return. Against tyranny, vigilance must be rigorously maintained; disregard is precursor to defeat.

PRO TIP: losing ain’t winning

What he said.

Has anybody but me noticed this odd dichotomy floating around the Right-o-sphere? Trump is doomed to lose his office in the most blatant epic of criminal fraud in American history, but boy, howdy, we’re gonna win.

Because reasons.

Once Trump is gone, I don’t think we win. I think we all lose, because the rickety building is on fire and about to collapse, taking all of us down with it.

History does not teach that the good guys win because they are good. Democracy, or even the modified form of it our Republic supposedly represents, is not a guaranteed victor. In fact, tyranny is more the rule than liberty over the vast sweep of history.

Generations Theory says that the United States of America is facing an existential crisis. That means that our very existence as a nation is on the line. If the theory turns out to be accurate,  we obviously have not yet reached the crisis, because we are still holding together as the united states, no matter how divided we may be on an internal basis.

Once you see that begin to change, whether by secession, rebellion, civil war, or hostile foreign action, you will know we have reached the crux of the matter. And I’m not going to blow smoke up your ass and tell you we are guaranteed to survive that crisis because we are America. History tells us there are no such guarantees, and frankly, from my vantage point our culture is so rotted out at its very foundations, and so damaged in innumerable other ways, including the fiber of our citizens, as to call into deep question our ability to survive that crisis.

 Normality bias ensures that it is impossible for the large majority of our people to even think about, let alone accept, that things are, or could become, so bad. Which means that most won’t even understand what has happened until the wolf comes to their door, blows down their house, and eats their kids.

If Donald Trump can be destroyed by the tempest, then let me assure you that some reflexive appeal to the notion that we are the good guys and therefor guaranteed to emerge victorious is just as ludicrous as any other smoke currently being blown up our nether regions is.  

There are no guarantees. Don’t forget it, and proceed accordingly.

Actually, I’d suggest one “guarantee” I consider to be iron-clad: the Usurper Biden will, on January 20th, be sworn in as (ahem) “President****” of the FUSA. Beyond that, though, all bets are now well and truly off. Well, okay, except for one other sure thing: stipulated that nobody has any idea what might transpire in the near term, it’s almost certainly going to suck.

Yes, I used the small footnote-font and multiple asteriks just now on purpose. Most likely, that becomes standard practice from here on out whenever I’m forced to refer to our shiny new pretend-president, the office his puppeteers hijacked for him, and/or the unfunny joke of a “nation” he was selected-not-elected to “lead.” It will be a good way to properly make note of the sad diminishment of the latter two, I believe. As for the figurehead Biden, he was nothing but a pygmy all along, in every imaginable way. There’s no way an empty suit like him can ever be diminished, and no good reason to try.

A cultural Revolution

“Taxation without representation” wasn’t the half of it.

The taxation-without-representation argument endures, of course, because it is useful for the regime and its backers. Advocates for the political status quo insist there is no need for anything like the Boston Tea Party today because modern Americans enjoy representation in Congress. We are told that taxation and the regulatory state are all necessarily moral and legitimate because the voters are “represented.” Even conservatives, who often claim to be for “small government,” often oppose radical opposition to the regime—such as secession—on the grounds that political resistance movements are only acceptable when there is no political “representation.” The implication is that since the United States holds elections every now and then, no political action outside of voting—and maybe a little sign waving—is allowed.

It’s unlikely the Sons of Liberty would have bought this argument. The small number of millionaires who meet in Washington, DC, nowadays are hardly “representative” of the American public back home. The 1770s equivalent would have consisted of throwing the Americans a few bones in the form of a handful of votes in Parliament, with seats to be reliably held by a few wealthy colonists, far beyond the reach or influence of the average member of the Sons of Liberty.

By the late 1770s, the fervor behind the revolution had already gone far beyond mere complaints about taxation. This was just one issue among many. Rather, the revolution quickly became a culture war in which self-styled “Americans” were taking up arms against a foreign, immoral, and corrupt oppressor. Mere offers of “representation” were hardly sufficient at this point, and it’s unlikely any such offers were going to be enough after the events of 1775, when the British finally marched into Massachusetts and opened fire on American militiamen. After that, the war had become, to use Rothbard’s term, a “war of national liberation.”

This ideological and psychological divide perhaps explains the ferocity with which the American revolutionaries resisted British rule. 

This sort of thing cannot be explained by mere disagreement over taxation. Acts of violence like these represent a meaningful cultural and national divide.

For now, the cultural divide in the United States today has yet to reach the proportions experienced during the revolution—or, for that matter, during the 1850s in the lead-up to the American Civil War.

Oh? That looks to me like a nigh-impossible argument to make. He probably knows that, though, because he doesn’t try to make it. He’s dead-on with this next, though:

But if hostilities reach this point, there will be little use in discussions over the size of the tax burden, mask mandates, or the nuances of abortion policy. The disdain felt by each side for the other side will be far beyond mere compromises over arcane matters of policy. 

And just as discussions over “taxation without representation” miss the real currents underlying the American rebellion, any view of the current crisis that ignores the ongoing culture war will fail to identify the causes.

Yet, the culture war has also likely progressed to the point where national unity is unlikely to be salvaged even by charismatic leaders and efforts at compromise. When it comes to culture, there is little room for compromise.

Agreed. Then we swerve right back into the ditch.

It is increasingly apparent that the only peaceful solution lies in some form of radical decentralization, amounting to either secession or self-rule at the local level with only foreign policy as “national” policy. Had the British offered these terms in 1770, bloodshed would have likely been avoided.

Americans must pursue similar solutions now before it is too late. 

Seriously? Secession—a complete non-starter, a pipe dream, a fool’s fantasy the central government will never, ever allow to become reality—or “self-rule at the local level”—ie, the restoration of Constitutionally-correct limited government and state’s rights, which the current bloated government, sloppy drunk with its illegimitate power and stolen wealth? Another issue that, as we have been regularly reminded for generations, was settled for all time by the first Civil War?

It’s amusing, in a morbid kind of way, how so many intelligent, historically-knowledgeable souls are perfectly willing to grapple with these controversies right down to the minutest detail, yet scrupulously resist facing down the one shared aspect that is the most relevant and indispensable of all, ignoring the 800 pound gorilla in the room furiously pounding its chest at them: war.

What’s goin’ on

The great conundrums of our era: Does he, or doesn’t he? Is he, or isn’t he? Will he, or will he not?

I’m impatient, as I expect most American Thinker readers are as well. We have been promised a coming storm that will be biblical, or a Kraken released on Deep State conspirators. Despite Attorney General Barr acknowledging spygate as “one of the greatest travesties in American history,” there has not yet been a reckoning.

A mid-level FBI attorney, Kevin Clinesmith, pled guilty to falsifying a document which became one of the lynchpins of a FISA warrant on Carter Page and subsequent spying on Donald Trump and his campaign, but he has yet to be sentenced. His co-conspirators are writing books, teaching at prestigious universities, and bashing President Trump on cable news shows.

A presidential election was stolen, and Trump’s own executive agencies say ho-hum, roll over, and go back to sleep. The same FBI that sent 15 agents to investigate a garage door handle that Bubba Wallace claimed was a noose, can’t seem to find any reason to investigate a host of election irregularities.

Republican members of Congress, who happily rode Trump’s coattails to their elections, are telling him to “accept the results” and “move on,” oblivious to the fact that if they get their wish, their party will become as irrelevant as the Green Party. Media stalwarts that were once “fair and balanced,” have tilted to the left, becoming “unfair and unhinged,” rivaling the standard left-wing cable news gabfests.

Perhaps more is going on than I can see, but what is visible to 75 million Trump supporters, those who have endured ridicule and scorn for supporting their president, is that nothing is happening. This is Trump’s administration and he’s the boss. He hires and fires, just as he did in the real estate development world and on “The Apprentice.”

That’s one way to look at it. But there’s a flipside.

Sun Tzu was a Chinese military general and strategist, author of a treatise on military strategy known as “The Art of War.” Trump is a fan, as this book which made his short list of “best leadership books.” Trump quoted Sun Tzu in this 2012 tweet, long before Twitter was fact-checking his every utterance and attaching warnings and disclaimers to each tweet.

Can Sun Tzu’s ancient wisdom and strategy explain the current apparent “nothing is happening” perception for those who, like myself, are becoming increasingly impatient over “all hat and no cattle” promises coming from Team Trump? Is Trump following the Sun Tzu battle plan?

As of yet, there has been no storm, no Kraken. Trump has followed the Constitution, making legal arguments up to and including the U.S. Supreme Court. What Vice President Pence does when it is time to again follow the Constitution and certify the Electoral College votes is to be determined.

Will a massive declassification of criminal and seditious activities subdue the Democrats? Will Trump win without a bloody battle? Time will tell.

At this point, it’s a binary choice. Either Trump is in over his head and will be dragged out of office. Or he is executing his plan, on his terms and timing, as he has done since his famous escalator ride at Trump Tower in 2015.

Trump knows the stakes for himself, his family, and America if Kamala Harris and Joe Biden get the keys to the kingdom and promptly hand them over to China. Want to bet against Trump? How has that worked out in the past?

Ponder these words from Trump’s inspiration, Sun Tzu,

He will win who, prepared himself, waits to take the enemy unprepared.
Mystify, mislead, and surprise the enemy.

Is Trump unprepared? Au contraire. Listen to Oprah interviewing him in 1988, more than thirty years ago. He looks younger but sounds the same as he does now, speaking of China, immigration, and electoral politics. Trump has been preparing for this moment most of his adult life.

Buckle up for an interesting few weeks ahead.

It’d be nice to think so, but…well, I dunno. At the moment, that last line is the one and only thing we can all be certain of.

An open letter to Trump from “America,” in the guise of Joe Hoft.

Dear Honorable President Donald J. Trump,
It has come to our attention that despite your repeated Executive Orders to declassify all information concerning the plot to destroy your campaign and your Presidency, these orders are being blocked. As you know, as President, you have full authority to declassify this intelligence.

We understand that the Deep State, including people inside the White House and ostensibly on “your” side, are warning you not to do this and to keep the information from the public. They are betraying you. The claim that releasing the information would harm US National Security is a lie. The reality is that by releasing this information you will expose the dirty deeds of Americans and the foreign countries that have conspired to destroy you and end your Presidency.

We know some of what is contained in this intelligence. We know that it shows the role that intelligence operatives from the United Kingdom played in trying to destroy your chance to become President. We are given to understand that the evidence of foreign interference in the November Presidential Election is indisputable.

You must release this information, not just to save your Presidency, but to save and preserve the Republic. Your oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution is on the line.

We plead with you to ignore the worm tongues who surround you and work to undermine you. We are with you.

We are, for the nonce anyway. The thing is, “standing with Trump” against the weasels, termites, and traitors who have incrementally stolen and then wrecked this country is going to involve more than just doing so rhetorically if it’s to be effective. It’s going to involve making an actual, literal STAND. A physical stand, one which could turn out to be the LAST.

And, sorry as I genuinely am to have to say so, every day it becomes more and more evident that said stand, in turn, will necessarily involve actual, literal violence. At this late date, there is simply no other option left.

As NC Reed’s foreboding quote over in the right sidebar has it: “They want to rule us and aim to do it. We aim not to allow it. All there is to it.” And so it is. The Enemy has demonstrated that he will not relent without having some serious pain inflicted on him, pain severe and damaging enough to be carried in memory as a tender spot for many years to come. Until such time, all else is just blather and bluster.

Declassifying everything, then following up to ensure it’s all accessible to the general public, is one among many actions that, in hindsight, Trump should have taken long ago. The recent pardons of more than two dozen people guilty of no real crime at all was a good start, as is evidenced by the anguished howl it raised from the demonic Left. But no one should be thinking of it as anything more than that. The sequence of events I’d like to see:

  • Following the aforementioned mass declassification and distribution, he takes up the infamous “pen and a phone” to fire all Obama stay-behinds and secret saboteurs, then disbands entire Federal departments summarily
  • Trump’s next move is to turn a honking great flammenwerfer on every Deep State shitpile: office furniture and machinery, files, Swamp critters, buildings—flash-roasting the whole stinking mess to a crispity crunch. Figuratively, or otherwise
  • After that, he convenes a press conference consisting of only two words: “Sayonara, suckers!”
  • Next, the Last American President tootles off to Andrews AFB—pausing atop the AF-1 boarding stairs to thumb his nose and blow a loud raspberry at the corrupt shithole he’s leaving behind forever—and flies directly to Texas to begin the Great Purge of Austin, scouring the city of every empty-headed liberal dunce, man-bunned hipster douchebag, sandal-shod undergrad, and scraggly-assed, Marxist UT-Austin professor/parasite currently stinking up the place
  • He is then joined by Governor Abbott for another press conference in which they proudly co-announce the formal activation of the Republic of Texas, in accordance with the relevant provisions in Article 1 of the state’s Constitution. Not merely some kind of US government-in-exile, the RoT is conceived as a fully independent political entity, properly ordered and of equal legal status with all other nation-states
  • Trump ends his last Enemedia availability as POTUS with a statement offering a warm welcome to all Real Americans desirous of lawfully immigrating to the new Republic, closing with a stern warning to the FUSA that while the Republic—harboring no ill will towards the long-ago-murdered and now-defunct nation it was formerly a part of—has absolutely no wish or intent to wage offensive war against it, is nonetheless both prepared and perfectly willing to defend itself against it, using any and every means at hand in order to preserve its independence
  • Gobsmacked FUSAN Enemedia “journalists,” those who did not slump to the floor in a dead faint from shock already, are officially declared persona non grata in the RoT and ordered to the border, where they will be forcibly ejected with neither delay nor appeal. Their unconscious colleagues are unceremoniously tossed into the back of three waiting deuce-and-a-half military trucks, piled three deep onto one another for the final exit from Texas. On arrival at the border, several platoons of flint-eyed RoT soldiers frogmarch the ragged formation of corpulent, sweat-drenched swine to the line and across, prodded by locked-and-loaded assault rifles at their backs should any of these undesirables prove so foolish as to turn around and attempt re-entry. The escort’s sole ROE? No warning shots—SHOOT TO KILL
  • Several of the more sensible among the FUSA’s remaining prisoner-states petition the new nation to attach themselves as additional, legally-sanctioned territories of the RoT, with the goal of forming a Confederacy of Freedom with the RoT as its head
  • Everybody lives happily ever after
  • THE END!

Pre-arranged battle plan

All the tools we’ll ever need are already in our kit, having been placed there for our use long, long ago.

Critics and supporters alike must understand that all of the weapons to fight back against a tyrannical government, either county, state or federal, was written over two hundred years ago in anticipation of a time such as this. How to handle a corrupt election was covered in the 12th Amendment and requires the President of the Senate (the Vice President) to open the ballots for president and if there is a tie, produced in this case by the alternate electors, “the House of Representatives shall choose immediately, by ballot, the President. But in choosing the President, the votes shall be taken by states, the representation from each state having one vote” This gives the Vice President the ability to deny the electors from states who conducted fraudulent elections, or to equally value those representing the current president.

The First Amendment recognizes the right of the people to speak freely and to redress grievances against the government. What this means, is that the people need to be free to read whatever might be published about the corruption of the government and the government cannot inhibit our ability to do so. They cannot deny that we gather and demand a redress of grievances and never has there been a more important time to do so. The president has asked the people to present themselves on the 6th of January, in Washington, D.C. as a show of force against the corrupt and illegitimate results of the presidential election.

The Second Amendment allows us to be armed as a means of overwhelming the power of the government to dissuade us from exercising all of our other rights, especially the right to demand a redress of grievances. Laws have been passed lately to deny that right, but I suggest that there never has been a time to ignore such unconstitutional laws as when one is going to demand their constitutional rights to have a free and fair election validated by the count of the actual and legal votes of the American people. 

The Fourth Amendment guarantees our right to hold private conversations, without the interference of government intrusion, exactly so that we might conspire against such government that has violated so many rights of the people. 

The recognition must be made that we are at war. Those who would subjugate us to a foreign power are standing in the wings of this election, prepared to deliver us to our foreign enemies. They are in league with foreign enemies by virtue of ideology, that ideology being one of globalism rather than nationalism. It is a betrayal of monumental proportions and it stares us right in the face. 

While the Constitution was written to make us feel better about our ultimate rebellion against an illegitimate and antagonistic government, it is not the words on paper that give us that right. Self-determination about the condition of our lives gives us that right. What we recognize in the Constitution is that our forebears understood and recognized that someday we would have to cling to the banner for which it stands and declare ourselves free. They gave us the tools by which we might resist this usurpation of the will of the people, but it did not demand that we use it. That is for us to decide. In our freedom, we will decide to be free or enslaved and only those who show up and do their duty will decide which it is to be. 

That’s about the size of it, yeah.

Whodunit?

It begins. Or….does it???

Having a life, I didn’t get to the Internet early on Christmas Day to check into the particulars of the appalling blast that went off in downtown Nashville the morning of 25 December.  So I am hardly the first to notice that the homely little RV seen in security camera videos, which apparently carried the bomb to the intended location, was parked directly adjacent to a major regional hub facility for AT&T, located in the 100 block of 2nd Avenue North.

The AT&T building took the greatest damage from the enormous blast, and I doubt we will learn at any point that something else was supposedly the target.  At least two eyewitnesses speaking to local media confirmed that the RV sat on the street a few feet from the AT&T building for some time (apparently a minimum of nearly an hour; possibly more) prior to the blast.

However, there appears to be a (possibly minor) discrepancy for which I haven’t yet seen a resolution.  The location from which the RV seemed to be broadcasting an audio warning over a loudspeaker, if we go by the viral image seen across American TV screens on Friday, was not the location where it blew up.  It’s not just that an eyewitness interviewed on a local news station described a different location (video below).  It’s that there’s no bomb blast where the RV was sitting in that viral image.  The bomb blast is visible in post-explosion videos down where the eyewitnesses have said it was just before the explosion.  So the RV apparently moved — not just down the street, but across the street — after the Nashville police provided the image that went viral.

Lots more stuff at the link, and a hol-eee-FUCK!!!-ton more to mull over. In the course of citing the arrest of a purported suspect already, Bill mentions another of an abundance of aspects to this which are well out of the usual run:

There you have it. Dunno what it means. A smallish, 63 year old longhair gave his house away, filled his RV with high explosives, and blew up the AT&T regional center.

Your guess is as good as mine. Random observation: They are releasing a hell of a lot of info very quickly. That usually only occurs when the authorities want to establish one particular narrative.

My personal gut take, strictly off the cuff and based on not much, is that this thing smells like some kind of proof-of-concept trial run, perhaps meant to determine the reach of the AT&T comm node that was the obvious target. But who knows. I’m pretty confident that it ain’t Muzzrats this time. As natural (and usually accurate) an assumption as that is nowadays, the evacuation warning broadcast for a half-hour before boomtime militates against that well enough all by itself, I should think. OTOH, I’ve seen it noted here and there that THAT is an old tried-and-true standby from the IRA’s bag ‘o tricks.

Nor do I suspect any pAntiFa/BLM/random Commie lunkheads. Those cretins would most likely have fumblefucked their way into a premature detonation and blown themselves up.

No, I think it’s gotta be White Guys on this one. Whether it was OUR WGs, or false flag Feds, or some other bunch with unknowm designs, we may never know. But White Guys for sure. The only real certainty is something that I reminded my brother about yesterday, the sly warning we’ve all heard from teachers or professors: You WILL be seeing this material again.

In the mid 1980s, Cuba began to allow flights from the USA to Cuba via the Bahamas and Mexico. The anti-communist Cubans in South Florida took a dim view of the travel agencies that handled the arrangements. A method to show their displeasure was the near-simultaneous bombings of several of these travel agencies in South Florida. (Same night, indicating coordination and professionalism.)

The method of attack was simple and ingenious. A big plastic commercial-grade trash bin on wheels was placed outside the store-front windows of the targets. Looks innocent enough at night. A simple camping gas bottle was opened at the bottom, a plumber’s candle was taped near the top. The lid of the bin kept the candle from blowing out, or the rising gas from blowing away, and the lid hid the candle light from view. But the lid did not totally seal the bin, so the candle would keep burning. The rising gas reaches the lit candle, and BOOM.

These simple gas bombs totally gutted the travel agencies, blowing out their interior walls and ceilings. The businesses on either side were heavily damaged also. (This happened without the greater effect of the gas bomb trash bin being located in a tight alley with walls on either side, that is, no “tamping” effect to amplify the blast wave.)

Now move from Miami 1980s to Nashville 2020 and do some SWAG extrapolation, from an 80 or 100 gallon commercial-size wheeled plastic trash bin, to a pretty big RV. The Nashville bomber/s didn’t detonate a propane tank full of liquid propane, he/they just let the bottles fill the entire RV with a thick cloud of gas. The trash bins that totally wrecked the travel agencies contained about a max of 10 cubic feet of gas when they reached the lit candle. What are the dimensions of the interior of an RV like the one in Nashville? Call it 20L X 8W X 6H just for a rough calculation, ignoring the cab area. I come up with 960 cubic feet, call it a thousand with the cab. 10 cubic feet in a trash bin placed outside the windows of the travel agencies totally wrecked wrecked them, ceilings and walls blown out, neighbor businesses heavily damaged. The bin bomb is 10 cubic feet of gas. The RV bomb is a thousand cubic feet of gas.

No crater tells me it’s not even ANFO (Ammonium Nitrate/Fuel Oil), which is about 40% as powerful as TNT, depending on variables, which is given an explosive factor of 1.0. (C-4 is 1.4) Even an ANFO bomb would have cratered the street. IMHO this was “just” a pressure bomb. I’m guessing it was simple flammable gas released into a sealed container (the RV with all outlets sealed) and ignited remotely or on a timer.

For sure the feds already know all this. They are probably freaking out because they will not be able to keep it a secret how easy it is to make a rolling gas bomb. The purpose of this bomb might have been “educational,” just to show how simple and powerful a mobile gas bomb can be to create and use.

Even with the warning, considerable collateral damage to businesses on Second Street and close by was inevitable, as if they all hadn’t had enough already.

Nevertheless, the person or persons who did this act—likely experienced with explosives in some way—ignored that potential destruction.

They clearly wanted to send a message he, she or they believed was of too much importance.

At this point anyway, that message appears to be that we live in a surveillance state from the likes of AT&T and our government and that that must end for the survival of our republic as it was conceived.

Our liberties no longer exist. China may be trying to take us over, but we’re already halfway there ourselves.

Given how divided our country is, what happened in Nashville this Christmas morning may have been the first salvo in a second civil war.

Of course, there is always the possibility that one side is impersonating the other in this action—that it is a false-flag operation.

But if so, it’s even more a license for civil war.

Whose statues will be torn down this time?

If this does turn out to be our time’s Ft Sumter Moment, statues and monuments are going to be of little or no concern. Gonna be plenty of other things torn down that are of FAR greater—or at least more immediate—importance, I suspect.

Phony War III

Will it get real?

We are in the initial phase of the new civil war. Call it the phony war, which was also the “strangely quiet start to World War II.” The Second World War went eight months without significant hostilities on the Western Front, months marked by puzzlement and hesitancy (see the “Confetti War,” which stemmed from the Phony War.)

America’s first civil war had its phony phase of sorts, too. Lincoln was elected on November 6, 1860. Fort Sumter was attacked on April 12, 1861. Over five months, tensions built, and then hostilities commenced.

The parallels aren’t exact, of course. But the phony phase of this new civil war is reminiscent. One of the grievous errors made in warfare is fighting the current war like the last. In this instance, it’s expecting that wars have orthodoxies, and if those orthodoxies aren’t present, then there isn’t war. Understandings must change.
         
Liberty’s enemies have opted for brinkmanship to settle matters, once and for all. They haven’t mustered armies to seize Washington, D.C.(would they have to anyway?) and occupy red states. Give them credit. They aim to achieve their coup without firing a shot. Call it a velvet-gloved coup d’état. Some are terming it a “Color Revolution.” The war they’re waging to seize power is conspiratorial, innovative, multidimensional. It relies on subterfuge, misinformation, misdirection, audacity, and a gamble: that while millions of patriots may now squawk and shake their fists, they will go no further…that when Biden is installed as president, and the cabal he fronts holds the levers of power, resistance will be futile, anyway. Anger will give way to sullen resignation.

The Left’s possibly fatal mistake was that successfully stealing the election forces the hand of those “millions of patriots.” With their backs against the wall, patriots left with but two options: surrender and lose all, or prove once and for all that the arrogance behind the Left’s “they will go no further” assumption was unjustified. The entire coup depends on this assumption being accurate. If it isn’t, and enough patriots are indeed willing to go to the mat to take their freedom and their country back, it’s the Left that will lose all.

Which brings us all back around to the Biggest Question again: Are Americans still Americans? Or are they not?

The betting is that liberty’s enemies have misjudged patriots. Today, this generation is being called, and the call will be answered. The enemy will marvel — as other enemies have wondered before — as patriots fight with resolve for freedom.

Liberty is nonnegotiable, and patriots vow unabashedly: Sic Semper Tyrannis.

America isn’t its real estate. It’s unique in human history, in that it’s an idea and ideal, the product of timeless principles and enduring values. America as conceived in liberty is what the fight is for.

Don’t let this phony war fool you. The present is deceptive. The cabal that failing and corrupt Joe Biden fronts knows that if it succeeds in installing Biden, it will have 48 months to cement its hold not just on presidential elections, but elections down ballot. 48 months to scuttle Trump’s achievements and impose its own radical, antiliberty polices and edicts, thereby forever changing the United States. If successful, the Constitution won’t be worth the parchment it’s written on. And if Trump returns to the White House?  War it will still be.

We’ve entered momentous and perilous times, comparable to the four years of the Civil War and the eight years of the Revolution. How this war evolves is unknowable. Wars tend to have lives of their own. No patriot should assume a favorable outcome. The days ahead must be hard fought, for victory must be hard won. It’s simply the price of freedom.

T’is so, and t’was ever thus. Ringing down through the long years, perhaps more relevant now than ever before, come the deathless words:

In vain, after these things, may we indulge the fond hope of peace and reconciliation. There is no longer any room for hope. If we wish to be free—if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending—if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon, until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained—we must fight! During an impromptu address from the White House Tuesday night, President Trump called his supporters to “raise their voices” and demand that election injustices be “immediately corrected.”

“If this egregious fraud is not fully investigated and addressed, the 2020 election will forever be regarded as illegitimate and the most corrupt election in the history of our country,” the president declared.

In his remarks, President Trump sought to explain to the American people why he is “so determined to pursue every legal and constitutional option available” to overturn the 2020 election.

“As president, one of my most solemn duties is to protect the integrity of your sacred right to vote,” Trump said. “This year, using the virus as a pretext, Democrat officials in the key swing states illegally violated their own state laws in order to enable, encourage and facilitate fraud on a scale never before seen in the history of our country.”

The president insisted that he won the election by a landslide. “We won it big,” he said.

“Now is the time for the American people to raise their voices and demand that this injustice be immediately corrected,” Trump said.

Sorry, Mr President, but mere voices aren’t going to fix this, no matter how many of them we raise or how high we raise them. How could they, when we know our enemies are deaf to them anyhow? No, I’m afraid we’ll have to raise something more, um, tangible, shall we say. Something that causes more than just psychological pain when it’s raised. Something that will raise a few things in its own special way: bruises, welts, blisters, scars.

You’re right, however, to urge We the People to stand with you in support. The fact is that, sooner or later, the defense of liberty always falls to us. The task is far too vital to trust a proven-untrustworthy “leadership” cabal to see the job done. We have shirked; we have been slack and indolent, we have sought to fob our duty off on others. Even worse, we seem to have forgotten that it ever was our duty in the first damned place.

As a result, we’ve fallen badly behind on the maintenance that keeps our blessed inheritance properly tuned, and now find ourselves in one hell of a mess. The Constitution engine is wheezing, clanking, spewing smoke and fluids from a dozen places due to years of neglect and abuse. It’s dangerously close to throwing a rod or breaking the crank, seizing it beyond hope of repair. It’s no more than appropriate and just that we re-shoulder the burden, take up the tools prescribed in the manual (yes, I do mean THOSE tools, should the Enemy persist in his ever-more-crude thievery and thuggery), and get back to work before we find ourselves broken down far from home, stranded in a dark and dismal place into which we should never have strayed, and will endlessly rue the visit.

The claim, ludicrous on its very face, is that the miserably unpopular Uncle Gropey “won” over 80 million “votes.” This, mind, after his embarrassingly pathetic primary squeak-by’s, then an entire summer of being unable to draw more than a handful of buzzards to his campaign-appearance shitwagon. Binney’s total vote percentage of 66.2 was culled from the Enemedia organ grinder’s monkeys at the WaPo; according to their chart, that’s the highest percentage of registered-voter participation since 1908’s 65.7 percent. Joe Hoft gives the final tally:

Using the numbers as of today, which are materially similar to Binney’s, we find a huge issue. If we have 213.8 million registered voters in the US and 66.2% of all voters voted in the 2020 election, that equals 141.5 voters who voted in the 2020 election (Binney shows 140 million which is materially the same).

If President Trump won 74 million votes, then that leaves only 67.5 million votes remaining for Biden. This means 13 million duplicate or made up ballots were created and counted for Biden!

This also supports our observations from the start. Biden committed fraud in every imaginable way, but the big steal was in millions of fraudulent votes that were created to steal the election for Biden. MILLIONS!

The results of the 2020 election at a very high level do not add up. This is math liberals – very simple math that even liberals should be able to understand. At a high level, the Biden camp clearly committed fraud.

Well, duh. Every sensible and honest person in the country (qualifiers that assuredly exclude all shitlibs)—hell, in the entire WORLD—knows it at this point.

After all the video recordings; the thousands of sworn affidavits from credible witnesses; the statistically-impossible results; the computer “glitches” that only went in one direction; the beyond-shady mail-in ballots; those things, and a preponderance of further evidence, we ALL know it. How could we not?

And it’s not going to change a goddamned thing.

Which is why I’m thinking this maybe ought to be my last post on the fraudulent 2020 election. Might not be, I admit. But it probably should be. Not to denigrate Joe’s hard work above, mind, but for me the topic has become boring, with odds heavily trending towards an imminent collapse into downright wearisome. A few reasons why:

  • Nothing has ever, ever, EVER been achieved by trying to persuade a shitlib with logic, facts, and figures. At best they’re supremely disinterested in those things whenever they don’t serve the Left’s interests, which is always; at worst, they’re actively hostile to them. In either case, deploying such irrelevancies against shitlibs is worse than a waste of your time. It annoys the pig as well. Their aggressive disinterest and/or hostility to the Three Horribles—logic, facts, figures, with the historical record and actual science thrown in for good measure in some contexts—serve them as a suit of medieval armor, overlaid by a modern warship’s heavy steel hull-plating, all surrounded by a Star Trek-style force field, creating a shield leaving them invulnerable to all three
  • Expecting that corrupt, traitorous PermaState agencies such as the DoJ or any/all other Swamp-critter tentacles like the USSC and Enemedia, might be relied upon to do their sworn duty, honor their oaths, and act to right this abominable wrong is every bit as foolish and self-defeating as pinning your hopes on the US Constitution and settled black-letter election law. The Constitution in particular, trampled into insensate pulp long decades ago, was just flung down and danced upon in front of the eyes of the world. So how stupid does one have to be to believe that the poor battered thing will suddenly rise from the grave to save American’s bacon now?
  • Vichy GOPe quislings, wetting themselves with joy over the prospect of soon resuming their perennial-loser role as the Democrat-Socialists’ pliant chew toys after the Trump Unpleasantness, have eagerly jumped right onto the reeking carcass of American democracy themselves to get in a few solid kicks, demanding that Trump supporters must all now unite to proclaim their support of our new Dear Leader, pResident-(S)elect Gropey Joe Biden-Harris. Anybody who thinks such unprincipled, soulless swine will break character all of a sudden to do the right thing isn’t just stupid, but delusional

Yes, the 2020 election was indeed stolen, and we all know it. Something else we all know, or should by now: exactly what kind of actions constitute the last desperate chance to undo this most brazen of broad-daylight heists. Carrying on with the assembly of a legal case that will never be either heard or heeded no matter how airtight its construction is a mug’s game, played on a table I’m no longer very interested in sitting at. The question no longer revolves around court cases, numbers, facts, or lawyerly maneuvers. The sole question is what comes next…and whether enough of us are up to our unwanted task.

A challenge has been posed, a gauntlet thrown down. This challenge won’t be resolved via papers, filings, and briefs. It can only be met with steel, determination, and blood.

Get real

The word of the day seems to be “secession.” That, or some other specimen of national break-up. Which is every bit as futile a notion as the fantasy that the massive and completely successful 2020 election fraud will miraculously be righted via courtroom maneuvering or other peaceful means.

Ain’t gonna happen, folks.

The nation’s current divide is partly geographic but mostly cultural and juridical. The Texas-led states, despite including parts of the former confederacy, now stand for the rule of law and the civil rights protections of the 1868 14th Amendment. The California-led states now seek to undo over 150 years of human rights laws so that they can override the suffrage and petitions of a “suspect class” (Republicans).

Polling indicates that neither side is budging on the question that best serves as a litmus test: whether the election of Joe Biden is legitimate. About half the country believes it was not because they share Texas’s understanding of what citizen rights are and what constitutes evidence. Half the country believes the election was legitimate because they share California’s understanding of citizen rights as framed by context and by goals, with any means being justified by the right goals, depending on the group involved.

For the first time in anyone’s living memory, we have to contend with the real possibility that the United States will split into separate nations. The split will not look like the 19th century Civil War and may not even be a war at all. Looking at history, I’ve come upon the following possible precedents in history that may help us understand the potential outcomes.

Follows, three historical examples going all the way back to the Roman Empire. Normal American runs down a few scenarios himself before proposing the only one I’ve seen yet that’s even a wee mite plausible:

There is an alternative. An October column here endorsed co-existence through radical federalism: “Longer term re-stabilization could devolve power from Washington, D.C. to state governments. California could ban pickups and mandate abortions, while Texas could do the opposite. Nobody would love it, but the republic would survive.”

An American Mind article from November 30 proposes radical federalism through a constitutional convention. The result would be one currency, one army, mostly separate, somewhat united. Most federal functions would vanish, with state courts becoming “the final word on the right to bear arms, free speech and abortion.” That avoids the difficulty of the U.S. Fourth Fleet in Florida operating a few miles from Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay in hostile territory previously known as Georgia.

Sadly, no evidence suggests that the left will compromise. It is emboldened. Our self-appointed rulers are calling President Trump and his supporters “maggots” who “must be prosecuted and convicted and removed from our society.” Democrat operatives are talking up “guillotines.” Instead of lowering tensions this week, Joe Biden’s senior aides are cursing opponents. Plus federalism is racist.

Even under such a plan, the Defense Department, the State Department, intelligence agencies, federal law enforcement, and the Federal Reserve will continue. Those account for millions of jobs and nearly a quarter of today’s federal budget. The deep state creatures denning in these agencies will not agree to reductions in their authority any more than a colony of paper wasps will agree to the destruction of its nest.

A second American Mind article was published this week as a rebuttal to the first. The left will not tolerate co-existence, wrote Edward Erler, an emeritus professor of political science. “Like all domineering partners who abuse their consorts, they want to rule.”

A commenter at the American Greatness article above forcefully reiterates that home truth:

The only flaw I can see to the “separate ways” argument is a fatal one.

No matter what you do, no matter what you try, do you really think these people will leave you alone?

A major part of the draw of American leftism is the false sense of moral and intellectual superiority it confers to its devotees. But what good is that if you don’t have a captive audience of people into whose faces you can rub your superiority? If you can’t reach them, then how can you lord over them? Tell them how to live? What to eat? When they can leave their homes? Whether they’re permitted to worship? How can you censor them, take away their right to self defense, and punish them?

How can you keep humiliating them and mocking them with sham elections that serve to reinforce their helplessness before your power?

We lost the culture wars because every time we gave in to what the leftists demanded and asked, “Now will you leave us alone?” they attacked another institution.

They will never leave you alone.

So you might as well fight them where you are. This is our country. Our Constitution, our Republic. Not theirs. Why cede it to them? Fight.

Sadly, the very next commenter plunges face-first into the fog of Pretend War, emphasizing the crucially crucial importance of “attending city government meetings, attending school board meetings, running for local government” and, one can only assume, VOTING VOTING VOTING! Aesop puts paid to that happy horseshit with a bucket of cold-water reality to the face.

It’s nice to dream (by which I mean it’s free, pleasant, and makes one feel happy), but you aren’t going to dream your way out of what’s coming.
You can’t dream your way out of socialism.
And history demonstrates, over and over, that you cannot vote your way out of it either.
So unless you’re 10 years old, and planning on outliving it, eventually, when you’re 95, the only way out of socialism is either to flee it (to where?), or to fight it.

Yup. And when some of us more practical, historically-literate types say “fight,” we are NOT talking about verbal complaints, smoke signals, angry letters to the editor, or allegorical puppet theater, either.

Like it or not, whatever “split” is going to happen in America already did—a philosophical, ideological, and cultural divergence that severed Lincoln’s “bonds of affection” in all but the strictly physical/geographic sense—and that’s as far as things are going to go without bloodshed. I repeat: FederalGovCo will never, ever, EVER peaceably agree to cede its power over half the country by partitioning it off and just letting all that territory, all that infrastructure, all those military installations, and all those taxpayer dollars stroll away unmolested. In fact, now that we’ve taken the final steps towards Commie dictatorship with the recent fraudulent “election,” I’d say the bloated, illegitimate central government’s iron grip is far likelier to tighten than to relax.

We fought one Civil War over secession already. Does anybody really want to try arguing that—after a century and a half of consolidating its might, expanding it, and carefully sweeping up the remaining scraps of Federalism and States’ Rights—the government is MORE likely to shrug its shoulders and allow it to occur without a murmur now? Although I wouldn’t necessarily be opposed to a national split myself if it would mean out-and-out war might be avoided…well, frankly, I just can’t see anything of the sort actually happening, that’s all.

More Lincoln, just to put the cherry on top.

Physically speaking, we cannot separate. We cannot remove our respective sections from each other, nor build an impassable wall between them. A husband and wife may be divorced, and go out of the presence, and beyond the reach of each other; but the different parts of our country cannot do this. They cannot but remain face to face; and intercourse, either amicable or hostile, must continue between them. Is it possible then to make that intercourse more advantageous or more satisfactory, after separation than before? Can aliens make treaties easier than friends can make laws? Can treaties be more faithfully enforced between aliens, than laws can among friends? The sand in the gears is that the TWANLOCs can in no conceivable way be considered “friends” any longer, either of Real Americans or of Constitutional governance itself. As “aliens” go, they’re the worst possible variety: hostile ones. Lincoln is correct when he contends that “you cannot fight always.” But you absolutely MUST fight until your enemy is vanquished. And this war will not be won until the Left is crushed utterly, the pugnacity and power-lust stomped out of them.

An “American Coward” speaks

Holding back anticipating a safety in numbers that may never come.

Every one of those Americans who understands this must realize that this is it. This is the last moment for the American Republic, the last time we will even have a glimmer of a chance of an honest election result, and the last time any opposition to modern communism will be afforded space in the public square. And yet, neither I nor most of you are going to do anything about this situation that might risk our present status or comfort.

This is why I won’t yet act.

Unfortunately for me, the crisis has come either too late or too early. Our family has four young children, a single income, and a base of assets which could be easily lost but probably never replaced. We are maximally vulnerable to the sorts of attacks which collectivists bring against those who fight back.

Even so, if the fight were on, if the majority of Americans who this past election shows are opposed to creeping collectivism were on the march, I would risk it all to join them. No comfort, no wealth, not even life itself is as important as preserving the possibility of human freedom. The hive-society prison which is being built around us must be demolished at any cost.

But when I look around me, I see many people who are paralyzed as I am. We know that the fight for our republic is unavoidable, and that the time is now, but do not see a nucleus of resistance to which we can pledge our lives, fortunes, and sacred honors without it being tantamount to suicide. We are watching and waiting for someone else to be that nucleus.

Most people who have not committed to the cause of freedom are not conscious supporters of modern communism. Some hold out the futile hope that things will all go back to normal, others have convinced themselves that what is happening is inevitable and cannot be opposed. Both are dead wrong. As open struggle against collectivism, communism, authoritarianism, and globalism rises, both of these positions will weaken, and support for freedom will grow.


I put “American Coward” in quotes in my title because honestly, I’m not at all sure that that’s she actually is. Her initial commentary on communism—indeed, the whole piece, which you should definitely read—shows her to be a woman of intelligence, a modest mother of four whose primary concern is for her family’s security and well-being but who nonetheless acutely grasps the overall situation, and is sincerely pained by it.

So is she REALLY a “coward,” then? Or is she a rational, reasonable soul who is deeply troubled by all this but finds herself at sea when it comes to the practicalities of what she can do about it personally? Does her duty to her children override all else? Or does her duty to her country compel her to rise up and take every action she must to help preserve it from Enemies, Domestic? Exactly what IS her duty here, anyway? Might there still be some useful part for her to play? Kit Perez takes a stab at resolving the conundrum.

Dear Sarah,
I wonder how many in the current climate recognize the act of defiance it took for you to write your letter. There will be those who focus on your supposed “cowardice,” as if standing up in the current game of Whack-a-Mole is somehow bravery, and restraint is proof of spinelessness. In reality, it is not cowardice you possess, but a recognition that there are different roles to play in this war, and different times to play them. Not all roles require a rifle, and not all of them are being played right now. I cannot speak for anyone but myself, but I fear they will all be in much greater use sooner rather than later.

Your choice to raise your children and train them in freedom, to serve as a support mechanism instead of a front line partisan, is not a cowardly one. The time is coming soon when those fighting for freedom will need a place to hide, food to eat, and a way to communicate. You may be a conduit for supplies, information, and a safe place for a partisan to get a tiny bit of much-needed rest someday in the near future. This is all for naught if our children cannot live in freedom, but doubly so if they do not understand its cost.

There are those who are willing to be on the proverbial tip of the spear, and they see you as well. If they are students of their own role, they understand that yours is crucial too. Paine wrote that “If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace; and this single reflection, well applied, is sufficient to awaken every man to duty.” Duty doesn’t always mean a rifle, and I have no doubt that you, and many others like you, will find a way to serve in the coming trouble.

Your letter did not fill me with a sense of superiority or judgment for your position, and I do not believe that you are somehow worth less in the cause of freedom. If anything, it made me take heart, because I see you. I see your heart and your willingness to be part of the fight for liberty, if only as a “mere” cog in a larger system, one that is bigger than any of us.

There will be a time when you are needed to take up your role, and that day is coming so much faster than any of us would ever wish for. Perhaps a wounded patriot will find your door in desperate need of help. Maybe you will find a way to get supplies to those who are fighting. Maybe your role is simply to stay alive long enough to tell our story to your children. And if all else fails, in a time when there is seemingly no hope, someone has to pick up our rifles and keep fighting. Your letter says that you will, and that is all we can ask for.

Seems right to me. As I’ve said here several times before, I am way too damned old and sickly now myself to shoulder a fifty-pound ruck, a medium-to-long range rifle and ammunition, and then hump on off for a month-long sniper sojourn in the woods. But among other things, I can roll bandages and/or load mags like a motherfucker. That may not seem like very much, especially to the chest-thumpier types among us, all a-brim with bluff and bluster as they are. But it ain’t nothing, either. Flinging hot lead downrange isn’t the only contribution to be made in wartime, as every real soldier knows. Not by a long yard, it ain’t.

So be of good cheer, Sarah, as much as any of us can manage during these most parlous times. We’ll all have our own part to play in the dark days ahead. Even the most valiant of warriors requires substantial rear-area support in order to fight and win on the front lines. It’s not shirking or cowardice to recognize where and how one can be of most real use, and to know one’s limitations and liabilities. What matters is that we jump in and fill that hole when we see one.

Truth hurts

Your friend and mine SteveF kindly does the gang here a solid by reminding us of a depressingly clear-eyed DP post of his, from nine (!) years ago.

The US Constitution is the “contract” which authorizes the federal government to exist, which gives the government its sole legitimacy. That seems obvious when stated like that, but many people don’t think about it. The US federal government is there and always has been there and does whatever the President says it does.

That way lies tyranny.

I’d argue we’re already there. The federal government blatantly disregards the document, the contract, which authorizes it.

The US federal government has no legitimacy.

The US federal government now operates only by chicanery and naked force.

Given this, what is the moral obligation of the citizenry to support the US federal government?

None whatsoever.

As it was then, orders of magnitude worse now, which renders it damned nigh impossible to argue with a single word. I haven’t the least intention of making myself look foolish by attempting to, either. That way lies self-beclownment.
