Ready for the Great Reset?

As the ones our masters intend to be Resetting, we’d better be.

As is the custom among our big thinkers, the blather is very generalized. “Now is the time to think about what history would say about this crisis,” says the head of the IMF. If you say so. Personally, I was thinking that now is the time to eat a meal in a restaurant, if they weren’t closed.

But, why is it history’s job to say something about this crisis? Why, don’t you “world leaders” of the here and now say anything about it? “It is imperative that we reimagine, rebuild, redesign, re-invigorate and re-balance our world,” declares the UN Secretary-General.

That’s almost a full set, but he forgot “redefined”. “Possibilities are being redefined each and every day,” says the chief exec of British Petroleum, who as is his wont sounds like he’s in any business other than petroleum.

Lot of that going around nowadays; see my previous post for more.

There is, of course, an inscrutable Oriental, who is chairman of something called the “China Green Finance Committee”. He’s there as a not so subtle reminder not even to bring up the subject of China, whose lies amplified by their sock puppet at the WHO are the sole cause of the present crisis – and whose death-grip on our future is the thing that most urgently needs to be reimagined, rebuilt, re-balanced and redefined. As I’ve mentioned many times over the spring and summer, twenty years ago we were told to forget about manufacturing – from widgets to “These Colors Don’t Run” T-shirts, that’s never coming back; from now on, we’re going to be “the knowledge economy”. Yet mysteriously, with the 5G and the Huawei and all the rest, China seems to have snaffled all that, too.

So what’s left for citizens of the developed world? Retail, restaurants, theme parks, low-paid service jobs… In other words, everything that the Covid has clobbered. Cities that grew in the age of manufacturing transformed themselves into giant shopping malls for an indolent post-industrial west – cheeseburgers, Macy’s, multiplexes, sports stadia, concert halls, Miley Cyrus – The Musical …all gone. A few years back, I took my daughter to a bankrupt shopping centre in Reading, England that had been converted into a “Zombie Shopping Mall”, wherein for a fiver or so one could battle zombies through abandoned W H Smith’s and Boots’ and Tesco’s. In Seattle and Portland and Chicago they’re recreating the experience city-wide. In Minneapolis, as in that Zombie Shopping Mall, the rubble is being left in place: the city won’t let storekeepers clear away the ruins of their incinerated businesses unless they pre-pay their end-of-year property taxes. America’s cities are a whole new kind of business model: Zombie Shopping Mall With Paperwork.

It’s hard to see what’s in front of your nose when you’re so far-sighted all you can glimpse is the distant horizon, so the Davos crowd have nothing to say about any of that and instead retreat to their comforting tropes – mostly the “climate emergency”, with a little light slathering of social justice, just in case the #BLM crowd get a yen to torch their charitable foundations. Still, one notices the absence of some once familiar bromides. Nobody’s cooing over the “borderless world” beloved of brain-dead big thinkers of the day before yesterday. Unless you’re a Davos jetsetter, a “Syrian” “refugee”, a Covid-positive Mexican or member of some other approved group, there are borders everywhere now – around your home in many jurisdictions, five kilometres from your home in the Irish Not-So-Free State, between Australian states…

Underneath the lofty generalities of the Davos set, this is what the Great Reset boils down to as a practical matter. “Each and every one of us has a vital role to play,” says the Prince of Wales. His vital role is to think big thoughts, your vital role is to stay indoors on pain of a $5,000 fine unless given permission to leave for approved purposes during daylight hours.

That distinction between the rulers and the ruled has sharpened during the last year – and the very acceptance of that distinction by the overwhelming majority of western citizens does us no credit whatsoever.

Bold not mine, but Steyn’s. Which, he’s right about that, painful as it is to have to admit it. As for the ChiComs specifically, they have plans to do a little resetting of their own.

A popular topic among Sinophiles since the installation of Joe Biden as president is the possibility of war with China over the status of Taiwan. The Chinese have been obsessed with Taiwan since Mao. With the American empire in sharp decline and the Biden regime unpopular at home and abroad, now could be the perfect time for the Chinese to make their move. As John Derbyshire is fond of pointing out, “Taiwan is like two feet from China … We are eight thousand miles away.”

While there is little doubt that China could retake Taiwan whenever it likes, the cost would be extremely high. For starters, Taiwan and the US have been preparing for such a move for generations. Some of the most sophisticated early warning systems on earth are installed in Taiwan specifically keep an eye on China. There is the very strong possibility that Taiwan has underground missile systems capable of reaching targets on the mainland in the event of an attack by China.

Whether or not the US would actually go to war to defend Taiwan is debatable, but that is the official position.

Trump might conceivably have, but there’s not a snowball’s chance that Biden ever would. And this time he’s right, incredible as that seems, albeit in his usual clueless way. If we shipped our stripper-pumps-and-sundresses Panzy Division troops around the globe to face down the Dinks, the result would be the most epic military defeat in human history, breaking all previous records by taking no more than half an hour to inflict. No need to worry about it, though; the ChiComs know it’s all just a matter of time, and all they have to do is be patient.

From the Chinese perspective, she has no reason to make any moves on Taiwan, as the puppet government in Washington is unlikely to stagger on much longer. Despite the claims by regime media, the world fully grasps the reality of the situation. The American regime is in deep crisis. The American empire is the sick man of the world right now and everyone is just waiting for the inevitable. History shows that the end comes much sooner than the patient ever expects.

The point of all this is that China has no reason to force a confrontation with the American empire over Taiwan. Through bribery, maneuvering and the general incompetence of the American ruling elite, China can quietly dictate policy to the regime in Washington. If she is patient, this reality will become clear to her neighbors in the region, and they will peacefully detach from the American empire and align with the Chinese empire. There is no need to fight the inevitable.

Nope, there really isn’t.

The trouble with having the sun set on one’s empire is that it can be VERY unpleasant for the settee.

Our master’s voice

Uppity Americans get too big for their britches, are set straight.

After four decades, the Chinese Communist Party has “learned everything, and can do everything ourselves,” Zang revealed before adding “When we look back, the factories are ours, the equipment is ours, the technology is ours, the patents are ours.” “The foreigners have all gone,” he emphasized.

The massive intellectual property theft allowed Chinese Communist Party officials to talk “tough” to President Biden’s Secretary of State and National Security Adviser at a recent Alaska summit:

“That’s why our Foreign Minister Yang [Jiechi] and Wang [Yi] could be so tough when they talked to the United States. [They thought] you have no right to talk to us in this way.”

He’s right, we don’t. We renounced it. More precisely, as Sefton points out, we sold it.

It’s easy to make them the bogeyman for all of our ills. But the sad, undeniable truth is that the Chi-Coms could not have gotten where they are today without the eager help of fellow citizens who stabbed us in the back and sold us out. First and foremost is our political class including the Bushes and Clintons who gave these Mongoloids most favored nation trading status and a seat at the WTO as well as outright engineering the transfer of defense technology that “Great Leap Forwarded” their nuclear arsenal from 20 years behind us to parity in one fell swoop.

It’s easy to understand how brainwashing a couple of generations of our youth to hate this, the greatest nation that ever was – and as of this writing tragically is no more. And now, the concentration camp-running, organ-harvesting, slave-labor driving filthy, degenerate Chi-Coms are stomping all over us for “human rights violations” and aiding and abetting the BLM blood-libeling of America – while Tony freaking Blinken the alleged secretary of state agrees with them!

Leftards—perennially determined to see the once-mighty, now-enfeebled US they so loathe brought to its knees in humiliated submission before their longed-for Global Government—won’t be anywhere near as pleased as they think they will once all their dreams have become reality, I suspect. In the way of Useful Idiots everywhere, they smugly expect to be exempt from the horror and abuse to be visited on the less-enlightened Deplorables. As is also usual with these muttonheads, the confusticated disbelief on their faces as they’re blindfolded and put up against a wall to receive the “thanks” of the new regime for a job well done will be a joy to behold.

Yet more, yet worser:

The Chinese Communist Party’s Cyberspace Administration of China has boasted of one of the most critical connections between the 2020 U.S. Presidential election, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the groups and individuals campaigning to stop President Trump and his “America First” agenda, The National Pulse can exclusively reveal.

New, bombshell admissions over China’s influence in both the United States and Europe link organizations such as the Berggruen Institute with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The Berggruen Institute first rose to national attention after co-founding the “Transition Integrity Project” which advised on how Joe Biden could seize power on the back of an ostensible Trump victory.

The news lends further credibility to election-tampering theories especially concerning Chinese Communist Party influence.

A 2017 report effectively claims – on the CCP’s behalf – that CNN host Fareed Zakaria, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, Facebook Oversight Board member Helle Thorning-Schmidt, NeverTrump philanthropist Pierre Omidyar and many others “co-operate” with the CCP and its goals.

Well, naturally. They’re playing for the same team, and share the same definition of victory.

Regular readers of The National Pulse may be familiar with the Berggruen Institute for other reasons.

In mid-2020, The National Pulse exclusively reported on the involvement of the Berggruen Institute in an explicitly anti-Trump exercise known as the Transition Integrity Project (TIP).

A collaborative effort between former Soros counsel Rosa Brooks and Berggruen executive Nils Gilman, TIP littered the U.S. media with commentary about how Joe Biden should refuse to concede in the event of an apparent election night victory for President Donald Trump – which is precisely what happened.

Hrm. There’s that name, Soros, again. Must be a coinkydink.

Amidst scrutiny of TIP’s work in attempting to prematurely cover for Biden’s mail-in ballot-boosted “victory,” Gilman lashed out at critics including writer and analyst Michael Anton.

“Michael Anton is the Robert Brasillach of our times and deserves the same fate,” Gilman opined in a tweet dated September 21st, 2020.

Yeah, whatever. Myself, I consider you to be the Julius Rosenberg of our time, and think you deserve the same fate. Or, if possible, worse. Lots more in the article from the “shocking but not surprising” category, which is becoming all too familiar these dark days. Despite being depressing, disgusting, and infuriating all at once, it’s still a must-read. The closer is the killer:

If such people can freely propagandize for the CCP in Western media, why should we suspect they would stop short of election tampering?

Why indeed—and why, having successfully done so in 2020, would we think they’d stop there? It’s remarkable how so much that would once have been ridiculed as wild-eyed conspiracy theory are now being confirmed as simple facts. These days, however paranoid you may think yourself to be, you’re almost certainly not paranoid enough.

Spade=spade

Give it to me straight, Doc.

We Are Governed by People Who Suck

Who could possibly deny it? Or would? The most terrifying thought in the world is that this plague of a government might actually be the one we deserve.

Let’s face it: Joe Biden sucks.

Everything about him sucks. He sucks as a messenger, his economic policies suck, he completely sucks as a truth-teller. He sucks in the integrity department.

Not surprising. It’s almost impossible to excel at things one has absolutely no interest in whatsoever.

Joe Biden sucked before he became increasingly, cruelly incapacitated by the decline of his faculties. Thursday’s Potemkin sham of a press conference, in which pre-written questions and scripted answers replaced an honest dialogue with the American people over the state of our union, made that clear.

That press conference sucked. It wasn’t a press conference; it was a book report.

We shouldn’t have been forced to embrace Biden’s suck.

Biden’s family sucks for putting him, and us, through what’s going to obviously get much worse over time.

They’re all horrible, awful people—the very incarnation of a most repulsive breed, the American Professional Politician. This misbegotten sub-species is a grotesque evolutionary perversion, a line which should have been exterminated immediately after the first mutated form appeared. The Founders considered it an abomination, and firmly warned their posterity against ever allowing the ProPol monster to gain a foothold. We foolishly ignored their wise advice, sat idly back as the disgusting and dangerous breed flourished, and must now deal with the disastrous consequences.

Hm. Maybe this IS the government we deserve at that.

We’ve had presidents who have sucked before. But not since Woodrow Wilson had a stroke in office and finished his second presidential term as an invalid, mostly comatose, with his wife running the country as a proxy president, have we had a situation sucking as badly as this one clearly will.

What’s worse is even now, we really don’t know who’s running the country. It’s supposed to be the guy we elected. The president is supposed to be in charge.

Is Joe Biden in charge? He doesn’t even know what he’s doing here. He says it all the time.

That sucks. And the world is watching.

And laughing.

Where is the Democrat Party based? Our large cities, which it controls so completely they might as well no longer be seen as emblematic of a democratic republic.

Pick one, doesn’t matter which, and several things will undoubtedly be true: its infrastructure, business climate, public safety, quality of life, affordability, culture, and governmental ethics have declined in recent years; there has been no Republican administration of that city for a long time and there is no foreseeable prospect of one ever again; the middle class has decamped for the suburbs en masse as a reaction to policies promulgated by the ruling Democrat machine in a knowing and purposeful campaign to rid themselves of those people and their fickle voting habits; the public schools are criminally, abysmally deficient despite breathtaking amounts of money spent on them; the Democrat machine is openly racist in whatever direction benefits it most politically; and all of the circumstances and symptoms of the manifest decline of the place are somehow blamed on white Republicans who don’t live there.

Everyone runs from places they govern. When they govern cities, people leave for the suburbs. When they govern states, people leave for states they don’t govern.

When they govern Washington, D.C., there’s nowhere to run. And everything begins to suck.

It sucked for eight solid years of the Obama–Biden administration. Everybody knew it. The Democrats blamed it on George W. Bush. They weren’t completely wrong in that. But Obama told America to embrace the suck. He said there was no magic wand to bring back economic prosperity, at the same time he told the world America sucks, then proved it by starting and prolonging wars around the planet that were neither in America’s interest nor the interests of the people affected by them.

And the Democrats’ auxiliary suck-meisters in the media made it their livelihoods to explain the suck. Obama was a great president, they said, and if you don’t agree you’re a racist.

Or a deplorable.

For four years in the interregnum from the Obama–Biden suck-fest, Donald Trump told America it didn’t suck and that we had a right not to suck. And for a good chunk of those four years, we didn’t. Then came a Chinese virus and the needless and pointless loss of our liberties, livelihoods, and quality of life, most particularly in places Democrats govern, and everything sucked again.

Here’s the problem: at some point, you just can’t cover it up. At some point you just plain suck.

As I keep saying: looks more to me like they don’t care much about covering it up any longer. They obviously don’t think there’s any real need to. And so far, it appears they might be right about that.

It’s a funny article, on a topic that ain’t no laughing matter.

Better not to ask

Especially when you’re pretty confident the answer is going to be unpleasant.

Wisconsin Supreme Court Strikes Down Leftwing Governor Tony Evers’ Lawless Mask Mandate
Ace

Are we still a free people? There seems to be some contentious debate on the point.

Annnnd that’s all the springboard I needed to dive into something I’ve had sitting in an open tab ever since it first appeared weeks ago, patiently waiting for me to get around to it.

Are We Still Free?

Is there really even a reason to discuss the issue? Because it seems to me that if you feel the need to ask, you pretty much already know the answer. You’re just having trouble squaring up to the sad, sorry truth, that’s all. Understandable, since the admission brings up a lot of way tougher questions in its wake, involving weighty matters such as what the hell might be done about it. That opens the can of worms on truly uncomfortable topics like responsibility, honor, duty, posterity, self-respect, &c. Next comes all that “Give me liberty or give me death,” “I regret that I have but one life to” etc, and “a hill worth dying on” hooraw to be dealt with. Before you know it, you’ve left Uncomfortable in your dust, careening straight on into Downright Scaryville.

Nope, best to just leave all such things alone. They have a nasty habit of raising up and biting the almighty crap out of a fella otherwise.

After having lived together through the lost year of 2020-21, many of my long-held beliefs regarding this country have sadly slipped away.

Like many of us, when the lockdowns first began, I believed the directives were basically suggestions from the government that, for our own protection, we needed to close everything down for 15 days. Let’s face it, nearly everyone was scared out of their minds listening to the “experts” saying this would probably kill millions of Americans in 2020, and we complied out of duty and obligation to other citizens and our families. We were only doing what seemed prudent. We were sure we would come out the other side, begin our lives again, and if things were not in a completely normal state, then they’d only be somewhat modified.

But when the state governments began picking and choosing which businesses could reopen and which ones could not—coming up with crazy and specific lists of how businesses may reopen, and demanding everyone wear masks—I realized government “suggestions” actually had teeth and were not suggestions at all.

Apparently, emergency powers supersede all constitutional rights. I did not realize before the pandemic that this was the case. Although some governors, like Kristi Noem of South Dakota, put trust in her citizens after giving them the information they needed, refusing to lock down and cripple her state businesses and citizens, too many other Republican governors followed the herd. Unbeknownst to me, we actually live in large fiefdoms called states in which you may have either a freedom loving governor, a benevolent dictator, or a medieval king doling out crumbs to the masses and telling them to eat cake when they complain.

Pre-pandemic, I also believed that the American people would never put up with such an obvious political power ploy as mandating mask-wearing outside in beaches and parks. If you’ve ever seen the poor indoctrinated souls driving in their cars alone wearing a mask (or two!) or bicycling with their masks on, then you know my prior belief was quickly put to bed.

I do so love the morons riding around alone in their cars all masked up; saw three of ’em yesterday, in fact, and I just laughed and laughed at them. Who knows, maybe those pathetic dullards believe their poor cars have the COVID. Hey, under regnant Safetyism, better safe than sorry, right?

Of course, sensible people understand just how silly the idea of contagious cars is. C’MON, MAN! Science!™ hath shewn that motorized vehicles infected with THEVIRUSTHEVIRUSTHEVIRUS!!! are incapable of transmitting it to humans. Your car is FAR more likely to kill you with all those toxic, Gaia-murdering emissions, you know.

As for losing one’s grip on those “long-held beliefs regarding this country” mentioned by Ms Kelly, that’s actually a good thing, however upsetting she may find it. When one’s beliefs are revealed to be falsehood, integrity demands that they be abandoned and truth embraced in their stead. Anything else is self-deception…and cowardice.

Never underestimate your enemy

They aren’t haplessly floundering about. They’re working a plan.

For every monstrosity the Democrats drag forth before the public, they are pursuing another hundred out of the spotlight within the labyrinthine administrative state that makes law while no-one is looking. This administration is relentless in pursuing bad policies that hurt Americans and erode further the few constitutional bonds that keep the nation intact.

Which leads to a painful possibility:

I find myself asking the same questions millions of Americans now ask themselves: given this campaign of outright hostility toward the American people and general dereliction of duty to protect and defend the states, is the American government intentionally trying to provoke civil conflict? Are all these horrendous policies leading to armed confrontation against red state holdouts? Has D.C. transformed the Iraq War’s “Preemptive War” Doctrine into a plan of action against its own citizens?

Yes. C’mon, ask me a HARD one, whydon’tcha.

The estimable Sundance at Conservative Treehouse thinks so and recently posted a blunt warning that the Democrats’ overt politicization of the U.S. military (its staged Capitol encampment, ideological purge of Trump voters, and shameful public battles with conservative news pundits and Republican lawmakers) should be seen as part of a larger strategy by the centralized government in D.C. to prepare for the use of military force against individual states and regions of the country that may choose to push back against unconstitutional federal power grabs in the future. Now that the pretext of using troops to put down MAGA “insurrectionists” has been established, it will be ignominiously used to justify military support for confiscating guns, enforcing extended pandemic lockdowns, and identifying Americans too attached to the Bill of Rights. (The fact that Sundance chose the Ides of March to outline the likelihood of such an intimate betrayal by the military against the states is, I suspect, no coincidence for a meticulous writer who enjoys reaching readers on an emotional, as well as an intellectual, level.)

What really caught my eye, though, was the way commenters responded to the article: they almost universally agreed that the U.S. military could no longer be trusted and that it should instead be viewed as yet another institution successfully co-opted by the Democrats to push “woke” socialism, enforce commie cancel culture, and punish conservatives. Just as James Comey’s spying on the Trump campaign and Robert Mueller’s Democrat-led Russia collusion investigation destroyed the reputations of the FBI and DOJ, and just as John Brennan’s public disinformation and propaganda leaks designed to take down President Trump forever politicized the CIA, now Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s decision to go after and eliminate Trump voters in the military’s ranks has dramatically weakened the public’s trust in the military.

If these questions don’t haunt the men and women now holding the reins of government in D.C., then they are monumental fools on at least two levels: (1) they have deceived themselves into believing that some chimerical international government will provide global peace and security in the years to come; and (2) they have forgotten so much of American history that they actually believe American patriots can be subdued and brought to heel without causing much of a stir.

The first failure reflects profound ignorance; the second failure reflects profound hubris.

Ahh, but there’s the rub: do they really? Is that really what either of these reflect? For the matter of it, is it accurate to call them failures at all?

On the first one: Global government, along with eugenics, rule by Expert, and micromanagement over every last aspect of human society, are the founding principles of Progressivism, the Prime Directives of the Left. They’ve doggedly chased the dream of global government for many decades, and are undeniably closer to seeing it realized than ever. Failure? Not while the US is still a member in good standing of the UselessN, hosting its HQ, tolerating its systemic corruption without demur, and paying most of its bills, it ain’t.

Nor is the second presumed “failure” so easily dismissed. With the successful installation of an illegitimate hard-Left US regime after several generations of incremental infiltration of every nook and cranny of both government and culture, we’ll soon be finding out who can and who cannot be “subdued and brought to heel without causing” etc. It ain’t exactly “profound hubris” if you wind up proven right in the end. After a year’s worth of American cattle obediently moo-ing their way right through the doors of the FauxVID19 slaughterhouse, I wouldn’t want to bet real money either way.

And taken together, these Democrat delusions will deliver a profound American tragedy.

“Profound tragedy,” at least, is spot on. THAT became pretty much a fait accompli when Real Americans permitted, over the course of decades, multifarious “Democrat delusions” to be implemented without meaningful resistance. Trusting souls that they were, the poor dears actually believed the GOPe was sincere in their forked-tongue promises to stand firm against such depradations, and to undo those already in place.

I dunno; it’s all kinda funny, in a way. Or would be, if not for the genuine harm inflicted on so many blameless Americans who really didn’t deserve it. But if those victims finally do find and embrace their righteous rage, then perhaps the wanton destruction of their once-admirable nation will be avenged. And the longtime tormentors of America That Was—Vichy GOPe or Demonrat alike—will have justice visited upon them for what they’ve done at long, long last.

Whatever course events may take, whichever side of the national divide you might stand on, profound tragedy is indeed at hand. Perhaps the biggest tragedy of them all, though, is that it’s come to this in the first damned place. It never should have, and didn’t really even have to. Yet somehow, here we all are anyway.

Gee, who coulda seen THIS coming?

Who says there’s nothing funny about the Fauxvid19 Klown Kar Krash?

In the United Kingdom (U.K.) alone, mask waste is now exceeding five Eiffel Towers’ worth of rubbish every single year. And yet we have not heard a peep from the climate alarmists about how all that filthy plastic pollution is destroying the planet at a catastrophic rate.

Many people who wear a mask regularly are probably unaware of the fact that those disposable, made-in-China blue ones contain plastic materials that take 450 years to biodegrade. This means that for the next seven or eight generations, all those filthy masks will stew in the world’s water supplies and leach microplastics well into the future.

Since tens of millions of people wear these blue masks one after another, day after day – with no end in sight – there will effectively be untold billions of them littering the world’s oceans pretty much forever.

The environmental impact of this is virtually immeasurable. An analysis out of the U.K. determined that every single day in Great Britain alone, 66,000 tons of contaminated plastic waste is created from people wearing single-use masks.

Since many retail stores are still handing out single-use blue masks like candy on Halloween, people continue to take them, use them once, then throw them in the trash or on the ground on the way out to their car.

“How many will end up in oceans and landfills, contaminating water and food chains with micro-plastics?” Dr. Joondeph asks. “Will sea animals become entangled in elastic mask straps as they are with plastic six-pack rings?”

Another irony is the fact that fossil fuel-derived petroleum is required to make single-use blue masks. If the leftists pushing the man-made climate change conspiracy theory achieved their ultimate goal of completely transitioning to “renewable” energy, there would be no more raw material available to make these masks.

“The same ‘follow the science’ crowd is also quite certain that man made global warming will destroy the planet, now in nine short years according to climate scientist John Kerry,” Dr. Joondeph says. “Yet they are ignorantly or willfully paying no attention to the real environmental impact of the mountains of trash created over dubious COVID rules and mandates, such as masking up the entire population indefinitely.”

“Was it ever about the environment? Or the virus? Or simply a power grab by the left?”

For those of us who know the Left well, the question answers itself. Which, unfortunately, still leaves a depressing number out there who will be scratching their heads in befuddlement forever at such an insuperable mystery. There’s only ever one question anyone needs to bother with: for the Left, when is it NOT a simple power grab? Although really, that’s another one that easily answers itself.

Is NOTHING sacred?

Last night’s blasphemy was the persecution of Pooh. Tonight another outrage has been committed, this time against Sinatra’s hallowed old standard.

With apologies to John Kander and Fred Erb, the composer and lyricist respectively of Sinatra’s classic, New York, New York. It is time to update that tune:

Start spreading the news, they’re leaving en masse
Don’t want to live in it: New York, New York
This U Haul Truck rental, is pricey as hell
But it will get me out of it: New York, New York
I want to wake up in a city without a mask,
Go out on the town and not have to ask.
The big city blues, are melting away
I’ll make a brand new start, away from New York
Can’t stand the crime and fear, I want anywhere but here
Good bye to you, New York, New York

Okay, okay, I admit that’s pretty funny, actually. The mirth heightens still further, blossoming uproariously with the report that follows:

Yes kids, the Big Apple is rotten to the core and folks are abandoning it–at least those with the case to bail out. But this phenomena is not confined to New York City, which has been brutalized by the inept, murderous rule of Governor Cuomo Bin Lyin and Mayor Bill “the Commie” DeBlasio. Other major cities, such as San Francisco, are also seeing residents flee liked panicked passengers on the Titanic frantic to grab the nearest lifeboat.

San Francisco saw an exodus of residents during the coronavirus pandemic, with the net number of exits increasing 649% in 2020, according to a new report published by the California Policy Lab….Cori Sarno Villacres talks on Oct. 21, 2020, about how she and her family didn’t feel comfortable or safe in California — even feeling bullied for their political preferences. They left their life in Sacramento last April to start anew in Idaho.

As a rule, my own inclination is to view that with an extremely jaundiced eye—if only thanks to the “fundamental transformation” I’ve personally seen wrought on my own hometown by the Snowbird influx. But Johnson says there’s reason for optimism:

Will the arrival of northerners from deep blue cities be accompanied by the same stupid political crap that ruined New York City and San Francisco. Possible but I doubt it.

What I am seeing in Florida reminds me of the flood of migrants from the former Soviet Union and Eastern bloc states when they were under the Communist thumb. Those migrants wanted to eschew the politics that were practiced in their former authoritarian homes. I took a pistol class with a couple recently arrived from San Francisco. I asked the demur 70 year old Grandmother why she and her husband left San Francisco. He reply was swift and succinct (and I’m quoting verbatim): “IT’S A SHIT-HOLE.

She went on to comment that she and her husband were taking the pistol class before purchasing a firearm to defend their new home. She loved the freedom of Florida.

Bad politics and bad policies have consequences. People in the United States still have the freedom of movement and are voting now with their feet. America is being realigned and I suspect the Democrat failure in the major cities will become more evident, not less. And the success of sane leaders like Ron DeSantis will remind voters why it is vital to cast a ballot for someone dedicated to upholding the principles of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Well, I dunno, Larry; we’ll find out whether the refugees fleeing the urban shitlib shitrapies have learned anything soon enough, I guess. Whatever the case may be on that, nice work on the New York, New York revamp there, buddy.

Not my game, I ain’t gonna play

Call it whatever you want, but a spade will still be a spade.

This Is Not Normal and I Refuse to Pretend It Is
Can we stop for a minute and recognize the absurdity of what we witnessed in a Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee confirmation hearing on Thursday? I turned on C-SPAN and could not believe what I was seeing. A transgender individual—decked out in makeup, jewelry, an ugly skirt, and a hairdo straight out of a 1980s Twisted Sister MTV video—came before a committee of the U.S. Senate and everyone acted like this was completely normal.

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul was the only person on the Senate HELP committee to question Rachel Levine’s radical transgender ideology, which includes chemical (and possibly physical) castration of minor children without their parents’ consent. What did poor Rand Paul get for his courage and honesty? Charges that the medical doctor is an “ignorant’ transphobe. Where were his Republican colleagues? Sitting in their comfy chairs acting as if having a man wearing lipstick and a dress in the Senate chamber is the most normal thing in the world. They’re cowards who are afraid that the mob will come for them next—and they’re hedging their bets that the whole issue will go away before they’re forced to go on the record about all this trans tomfoolery.

We’ve regressed so far as a society that no one bats an eye when a delusional man who believes himself to be a woman is being put forth as a nominee for a vaunted position in government by the president of the United States. And we’re all just supposed to play along with this fantasy and act as if it’s completely normal. It’s not.

Shockingly, the position Levine is under consideration for is the assistant secretary of Health and Human Services. A man who denies science, believing he can overcome what every cell in his body screams—that he’s a male, packed full of XY chromosomes—is going to be in charge of directing health policy for the entire nation. What kind of mass delusion are we under that we just sit back and pretend this is good for us—for our nation, for our children, and for our health?

Now is not a time for cowardice. It’s a time to stand up and say “this is not normal” and to refuse to go along with the charade. The transgender ideology is destroying our culture. Denying basic biology in order to pacify a handful of troubled individuals—and elevating those individuals to high positions in government—makes a mockery of truth and morality, and denies what is visible to all.

They aren’t “pacifying” them, or “elevating” them. They’re USING them, exactly as they’ve used so many others who have fallen under the shitlib thrall: women, Negroes, Mexicans, immigrants and refugees, gays/lesbians, the homeless, the urban poor, the mentally ill, the handicapped, and so on. They divide people into groups; inculcate an unshakable belief in the poisonous idea of their own systemic victimization; urge them on to destructive, futile acts as the only means by which the wrongs done to them by powerful Others might be righted; and then abandon them the instant their usefulness has been outlived. Which is usually when the dumpee saps find out firsthand what REAL victimization is all about.

None of which either surprises or particularly interests me at the moment, I confess. No, the part of this story I wonder about is, did Mr Levine actually have his john-willy whacked off? Or is he among the vast majority of the statistically negligible sub-sub-sub-genus all and sundry are required to misnomer “transgenders” nowadays: a confused, off-camber dude whose unwanted courting tackle, although tucked away under cover of plus-sized women’s wear, is nonetheless intact—ie, a transvestite with, shall we say, loftier ambitions?

Whatever the case may be with this sad, addle-pated freak and his now-you-see-it-now-you-don’t clamdigger, allow me to beat the crowd with an early prediction: Mr Levine will almost certainly be our next “President.” Before you dismiss the notion out of hand, think about this: after our Historic First Black Wymrynzxx “President”—Kumala Willielicker, that would be—what the hell else in the way of Historic First etc etc is left to us? Does anybody really believe that a Historic First Hindoo, illegal alien, or Moslem would satisfy, when we have Mr Levine waiting in the wings for his chance to shine?

Better go ahead and get those bets down now, folks. Trust me on this.

Talking turkey

Bless our esteemed chum Aesop’s coal-black heart, sez I. That boy still hasn’t learned to pull any punches, and seems commendably disinterested in trying to learn how.

I’ve posted links to military manuals any half-dozen times for a reason, dammit, and it isn’t nostalgia.

Most of you (95%, by all polling data, though the blog stats here may skew a wee bit higher) never got any closer to a military formation than lining up outside for phys ed classes in school. And that was great in a free country but not so much for a burgeoning banana republic, with all the trimmings, which is what we are, right this minute.

So let’s talk turkey:

There are three undeniable truths operating right now in America.

I. Elections are pointless, worthless, and futile.
If you didn’t get that memo despite what happened in November, and again in GA in January, sorry to break it to you, but it’s nevertheless gospel truth.

Anyone yakking about “We’ll get ’em next time!”, “Vote Harder!”, or any variation on “MOAR Elections!” is an unredeemed delusional jackass suffering a psychotic break from reality. They should be placed in a room in a quiet glen, featuring soft music, soft lighting, soft food, and soft walls. They’re fucking nuts. Don’t waste any further breath on them until they wake up, if ever.

TINVOWOOT: There Is No Voting Our Way Out Of This.

Learn it, Live it, Love it.

Should you still pull a lever ever again? Hell yes. Enjoy whatever simulacrum of freedom you can, and maximize the time and minimize the gradient of the decline, if such be within your power. Primary out RINOs. Use it as a weed-out for whom to ever listen to, and whom to discount, forever. And a platform to shitpost, meme, rabblerouse, and generally send raspberries at TPTB, while you can. But minimize the time, energy, and funds you spend waste on electoral activities going forward, knowing the entire process is as fake as TV News and pro wrestling.

The other two are just as undeniable as the first, and Aesop lays ’em down just as straightforwardly, unabashedly, and plainspokenly as he did Numero Uno, with nary a flinch to be discerned throughout. After that, a compendium of recommended next steps, the aggregate of which definitely meets all qualifications for what military types of yore used to refer to as a Real No-Shitter. It ought to be required reading for anyone given to A) hopeful and/or naive overconfidence; B) obstreperous blowhardery; or C) half-baked or downright ign’ernt online strategerizing. The kind of unsupported assumptions, egotism, and lack of either practicality or any acquaintance with harsh reality that occlude the vision of people like this has landed way more functional, stable societies than this one deep in the soup, way more than just once.

Ready for “pResident” Kumala?

Because ready or not, we’ve got her.

There have been a lot of questions about Joe Biden’s cognitive condition, him putting off doing any one on one presser with the media and him not doing the traditional address to the joint session of Congress that he himself said he would be doing this month.

Then came the reports that some Democrats didn’t want him to have the sole control of the nuclear codes.

On top of all that, people are now noticing the Kamala Harris is being asked to do things that would normally be the responsibility of Biden, such as talking on the phone with and meeting with foreign leaders.

Politico framed it as Biden trying to help her catch up in an area she doesn’t have a lot of experience in and wants to concentrate on as a specialty.

So Harris was involved in Biden’s meeting with the Canadians, Biden’s first bilateral meeting, something Biden himself didn’t get to do, according to Politico. Harris also called the director-general of the World Health Organization to talk about the Wuhan coronavirus response and she’s held solo calls with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and French President Emmanuel Macron.

But some folks, like Sean Hannity, are looking at it more as helping Harris take over such responsibilities.

As deeply cynical an old rapscallion as I’ve come to be in recent years, even I’m on record as having figured they’d keep Cadaver Joe propped up until March or April—if only for the sake of keeping up appearances—before spiking his morning reanimator injection with cyanide and subsequently installing Willie’s Li’l Sidepiece on the throne of the Forever Junta. Gropey must be in even worse shape than was previously suspected, I guess. The shambolically-delicious Texas collapse suffered by Seatwarmer Joe ain’t something even the most mulishly delusional shitlib would be brazen enough to call confidence-inspiring. Not with a straight face, anyway.

Yeesh. It’s not even arguable at this point that the Vegetable In Thief remains competent enough to organize a circle-jerk in a Tijuana whorehouse, assuming that he ever had been. Bonchie nutshells it:

There’s a reason his wife has to do joint interviews with him at an unheard-of rate. There’s a reason he wasn’t able to get down to Texas until the disaster was well over. There’s also a reason why a man who is ostensibly president hasn’t done a single press conference since taking office. Joe Biden does not appear to be well, and because of that, he isn’t showing an ability to execute even the nominal duties of his office. That’s become so painfully obvious that it’s not really funny anymore. It’s actually scary.

Scary? Naaaah, I think it’s hilarious. The genuinely scary thing is pondering the lengths to which the guys with their arms up the back of Faux Jaux’s shirt making his mouth move seem willing to go in order to keep this faltering Democracy Theater Productions™ shitshow staggering along…and what they have planned for their captive audience when the curtain finally drops, the actors trot offstage to huddle in their secure green-room cloisters, and the house lights come back up. One thing’s for sure: the cleanup crew is going to have their work cut out for them knocking the theater back into presentable shape again the morning after, because the venerable old place has been well and truly TRASHED.

A Biden two-fer

Jeez O Pete, what the hell is WITH these degenerates, anyway?

EXCLUSIVE: Hunter Biden was living with his brother Beau’s widow Hallie while sending raunchy texts and FaceTiming in the shower with her married SISTER as they declared their love and she called him her ‘prince’

Hunter Biden had a controversial affair with his brother Beau’s grieving widow Hallie, while exchanging raunchy texts, ‘partying’, and even renting a house with her sister, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal.

Hallie Biden’s older sister, Elizabeth Secundy, who was recently separated from her husband of 15 years, referred to Hunter as her ‘prince’ and told him she loved him, in a series of text messages dating back to 2016.

The pair’s relationship was revealed in files and emails recovered from Hunter’s laptop – the contents of which became public last year after it was abandoned at a Delaware computer shop.

While Hunter has promised to reveal details of his personal life and struggles with alcohol and drugs in his upcoming memoir, Beautiful Things, it is unclear whether Hunter has included details of his relationship with Secundy.

The embattled father-of-five, now 51, split with his first wife Kathleen in 2015. When his brother Beau died of brain cancer that year, he became close to his grieving sister-in-law.

He and Hallie became a couple in 2016, according to an interview Hunter gave to the New Yorker two years ago.

According to Ace, that’s revealed to be a damnable lie a few paragraphs on down, but as this article was even more disgusting than the one I complained about below I didn’t finish it either. Regardless, in light of their amorality; their shameless self-indulgence; and a complete inability to rein in their warped and self-destructive sexual gluttony, it’s all too apparent that there’s something profoundly haywire in America’s professional-politician class. With few exceptions, these irredeemable rotters are without question the lowest-order scoundrels in all existence. No decent, sensible person would trust them to be left alone with the family dog for five minutes.

Yet they’re running the goddamned country. Even so, as disgusting as these people are, it comes as no big surprise. Perhaps ubiquity has reduced this stuff to mere routine, stripping Ruling Class japery of its ability to shock. None but an American ProPol or his witless, pampered spawn could be so predictable, so insipid, so flavorless and banal as to be capable of making sin, sleaze, and sexual transgression seem uninteresting.

This next one, on the other hand, I absolutely LOVE.

SWABBED: Chinese Government Anally Swabs U.S. Diplomats, Biden’s State Department Begs Them To Stop

The Chinese government forcibly anally swabbed U.S. diplomatic officials as part of the Chinese Communist Party’s new Covid testing protocols “in error,” prompting Joe Biden’s U.S. State Department to  beg China to stop violating the “dignity” of Biden officials.
VICE and the Washington Post were among the first outlets to report the story, in which China originally promised to stop anally swabbing State Department officials after complaints from the Biden administration, but has now reversed course and denied forcibly applying the test in the first place.

“The State Department never agreed to this kind of testing and protested directly to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs when we learned that some staff were subject to it,” a spokesperson from Biden’s State Department reported to VICE on Wednesday.

In the Vice story, an Aussie visiting in China who was subjected to the (literal) rumpswab described it as feeling “like having diarrhea.” But if this video of Chinese testees duckwalking gingerly, all hunched over and in obvious pain, right after having this new, improved Anal Intruder™ FauxVid19 test inflicted on ’em is any indication, it feels a whole heck of a lot worse than just that.

Hell yeah, all Bai-Ding junta officials and appointees should be forced to get ’em, I say. On the regular. Six days a week, and twice on Sundays.

Taken together, this all counts as proof positive that both our domestic masters and the ChiComs who own them alike are all just laughing themselves sick at this point, in incredulous amazement at the degree of abuse the American serf class will passively submit to. After “temporary” lockdowns; mask mandates; the ruination of entire industries; travel restrictions; the closing of churches; curfews; &c &c &c, they’re probably stumped for ideas on what outrage might be tried on us next.

Below the fold, an actual photo of one of these butt-buster “testing” swabs, which is no way no how safe for work. Or for children. Or the elderly. Or the faint of heart. Probably best not to click on the thing at all, actually. Seriously, don’t do it. Really, now.

Okay then, but don’t say I didn’t warn ya.

A case of murder

Defending the indefensible.

All told, seven people died in connection with the U.S. Capitol riot on Jan. 6. But only Ashli Babbitt’s death was directly caused by violence that day. She was a rioter killed by a Capitol Police officer, who fired the only shot by any person during the 4½-hour siege. Yet the story of who he is and why he opened fire remains shrouded in mystery.

The Deep State looks after its own.

More than six weeks after Babbitt succumbed to a single gunshot wound to the upper chest, authorities are keeping secret the identity of the officer who fired the fatal round. They won’t release his name, and the major news media aren’t clamoring for it, in stark contrast to other high-profile police shootings of unarmed civilians.

Baffling, that.

Drawing on interviews with informed sources and available documents, RealClearInvestigations has put together a portrait of the actual shooter and the shooting, which some describe as completely justified and others call murder.

The officer who opened fire on Babbitt holds the rank of lieutenant and is a longtime veteran of the force who worked protective detail in the Speaker’s Lobby, a highly restricted area behind the House chamber, sources say. An African-American, he was put on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation led by the Metropolitan Police of the District of Columbia, which shares jurisdiction with the Capitol Police. The Justice Department is also involved in the inquiry.

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this month that the officer has been interviewed and cleared of criminal wrongdoing by a preliminary investigation, suggesting that the police killing may soon be ruled justifiable homicide. But D.C. Police spokeswoman Alaina Gertz told RCI, “This case remains under active investigation.”

The well-placed sources told RCI the plainclothes officer has gone into hiding out of fear for his safety.

Aww, that’s a shame.

They said he worries about reports that some of those arrested in the riots have declared “open (hunting) season” on whoever killed Babbitt, now a martyr in their cause. Twitter accounts have been created in her name, including “We Are Ashli Babbitt” and “Justice For Ashli Babbitt.” “An unarmed American patriot was murdered in cold blood! We need to know who murdered #AshliBabbitt!” proclaimed one recent post.

Meanwhile, numerous lawmakers from both parties have hailed the lieutenant as a hero who saved lives that fateful day.

I’d expect no less from the cringing, despicable cowards.

Most of the circumstances that led to his actions are still unclear. But video footage filmed by rioters shows the lieutenant, after taking up a defensive position in a doorway, carefully aiming and shooting Babbitt as she tries to climb through a smashed window beside a barricaded double door leading to the Speaker’s Lobby, part of a pro-Trump mob of protesters. Babbitt, 35, had no weapon. She died later at a hospital. The decorated Air Force veteran, who had traveled from San Diego, was wearing a Trump flag as a cape when she was shot.

Dressed in a dark suit and white shirt with cufflinks, along with a beaded bracelet on his right shooting hand, the Capitol Police officer fired at her from the side of the barricade, where he had been hidden from view in a doorway. At least from what can be seen and heard from the video, he appears to issue no commands to stop nor any verbal warning that he would shoot.

“That was an execution,” said Jack Feeley, a fellow Air Force vet and friend of Babbitt, adding that it “breaks my heart to know millions of people watched my friend be executed on live television.”

A former White House national security aide and Pentagon official agreed the officer appeared trigger happy. “It was an assassination. I’ve never seen a more clear case in all my years. I’ve seen EJKs that were cleaner than that,” said the former official, referring to an extrajudicial killing, or state-sponsored killing outside the formal legal system of a country. “He stepped into it [the shot] for [expletive deleted] sake.”

But appearances are deceiving, countered the lawyer whom the Capitol officer has hired to defend himself. In an RCI interview, Washington attorney Mark Schamel said his client did, in fact, warn Babbitt and other rioters to keep back — and that he did so firmly and repeatedly.

“It’s a false narrative that he issued no verbal commands or warnings,” Schamel said. “He was screaming, ‘Stay back! Stay back! Don’t come in here!’” He added that witness statements back him up. Schamel explained the lieutenant’s commands were not picked up on the video because it was recorded on the other side of the doors where dozens of rioters were shouting and banging against the doors and drowning out his words. And he said his client could not be seen yelling out the instructions because his mouth was covered by a mask he wore as part of COVID-19 protections.

It’s not clear if the officer in fact warned the marauders breaching the barricade that he would shoot if they did not heed his commands. However, his service weapon — a .40-caliber Glock semiautomatic handgun — was visibly drawn. Some of the rioters spotted it through the lobby windows and shouted: “There’s a gun!” followed by, “He’s got a gun!”

Schamel said his client, who received his training primarily at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers in Glynco, Ga., was acting to protect himself and lawmakers from harm.

“He was acting within his training,” he said. “Lethal force is appropriate if the situation puts you or others in fear of imminent bodily harm.”

Hm. Good to know. So, should an old white male like myself shoot and kill a black intruder breaking into his home late at night, I can expect to be likewise hailed as a “hero” by the authorities in my home state—a state, mind you, which does NOT have a “castle doctrine” law in effect? A state which, on the contrary, mandates that a hypothetical victim of violent criminal assault must jump through quite a few flaming legal hoops before being allowed to defend his very life against his assailant(s) without being subject to judicial persecution as a “murderer” for the rest of his life?

No need to answer; we all already know well enough that lethal force is “appropriate” only if “the situation” puts panicked, trigger-happy LEOs at risk of wetting themselves, and only if the victims are Trump supporting dissidents.

He pointed out that the officer was the potential last line of defense between the rioters and dozens of members of Congress and staffers, who he said had yet to be escorted out of the House chamber by security at the time. (House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other VIPs had already been evacuated.)

The Speaker’s Lobby is a hallway that runs behind the chamber and leads to exits on both ends, so the doors where the mob had gathered, which were manned by the lieutenant, served as a strategic chokepoint. Before they arrived, the officer had piled tables, chairs and other furniture from the hallway in front of the doors to create a barricade.

“He stopped them from coming through to the hallway and into the chamber,” Schamel said. “He stopped a potential massacre.”

Gee, hyperbolize much, you ambulance-chasing drama queen?

Pantloads more of such overwrought, self-serving twaddle in the linked article, which frankly I found so repulsive I threw up my hands before I’d gagged my way through much more than half of the thing. Even so, a few things are infuriatingly clear:

  • That Ashli Babbitt was indeed needlessly murdered by a Deep State thug in monstrously disproportionate response to an act of minor criminal trespass which merited nothing more severe than a citation and a small fine
  • That her grieving loved ones will be denied the cold comfort of ever seeing justice done for her barbarous execution
  • That the dishonest slander of both Babbitt personally as a “deadly threat” and the January 6th protest in general as a “riot,” a “massacre,” an “insurrection” undertaken by “white supremacists” and/or “domestic terrorists” will continue, for as long as TPTB find it useful to do so
  • That there will never be any meaningful consequences suffered by the perpetrators of an entire summer’s worth of actually dangerous, deadly, and destructive rioting, all of which was openly and unashamedly endorsed at the time by the self-same ProPol filthbags now striking indignant poses and spluttering in horror over January 6th

As I said: infuriating. But if Ashli’s scurrilous killer is forced to remain in hiding, to live in abject terror of being identified or exposed until the frabjous day he drops dead—hey, I’m good with it, myself. It ain’t much, and is by no stretch a satisfying outcome. But if it’s all we can get, at least for now…well, I’ll take it, in hopes of something better to come along someday.

Update! Much, much more from Gateway Pundit, including photos that reveal the murder to be a blithering incompetent—finger in the trigger well, muzzle-sweeping everybody around him, etc—as well as self-contradictory statements showing him to be an unusually inept liar. If this oaf is typical of Mordor OTP law enforcement, then Mordor OTP is in seriously dire straits.

Deep State gonna Deep State

I think it’s sooooo cute how some people still want to believe that, even after all we’ve seen, the System can be relied on to correct the malfeasance and corruption the System itself birthed and nurtured.

‘Inexplicable’: Alito and Thomas Dissent as Supreme Court Strikes Down Pennsylvania Election Lawsuit

Inexplicable? Hardly. The explanation is right there in our faces, for all to see. Refusal to see a thing does NOT mean the thing does not exist.

On Monday, the Supreme Court threw out several of the remaining challenges to the 2020 presidential election as moot, considering that former President Donald Trump conceded to Joe Biden, who has now become president. Yet Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas dissented, arguing that the Supreme Court should have taken the opportunity to clarify election law, especially in the case of Pennsylvania.

“The Constitution gives to each state legislature authority to determine the ‘Manner’ of federal elections,” Thomas wrote. “Yet both before and after the 2020 election, nonlegislative officials in various States took it upon themselves to set the rules instead. As a result, we received an unusually high number of petitions and emergency applications contesting those changes.”

Thomas’ dissent is well-reasoned and -written, as is his usual wont, and so is Alito’s. The mistake made by both these worthy Justices is that their arguments proceed from an assumption that the Constitutional Republic known as the United States of America still exists. That assumption is unfounded; said much-mourned Republic most assuredly does not, and the flyblown traveshamockery that displaced it bears no recognizable likeness to what it so rudely elbowed aside. The shifting and pathetic rationalization puked up by the USSC’s majority of shifty dissemblers for cavalierly sidestepping their sworn duty gives the game away:

What the Supreme Court codified yesterday, and what it started with the Texas rejection, is that election laws and procedures cannot be challenged beyond a state court, at any time, regardless of how badly those states shred the United States Constitution, and regardless of the major consequences to the other 49 states as a result. They don’t ever say that per se, but the results of what those two rulings have done are just that. Period.

Those trying to challenge Pennsylvania’s obviously corrupt and rigged election system have been told that they cannot challenge the laws ahead of the election, because there is not yet a victim. They’ve been told that fellow Americans impacted by Pennsylvania’s corrupt system cannot challenge, because of standing. Now they’ve been told that they cannot challenge after the election, because it’s after the election – and therefore moot.

This kind of infantile and absurd logic just defies belief and takes one’s breath away. And not just mine. I think it’s clear that Justice Clarence Thomas is even more mystified than am I, and he was livid.  He was also, as he always is, right on the money in his analysis.

“One wonders what this Court waits for,” understates Thomas in his dissent, adding “we failed to settle this dispute before the election, and thus provide clear rules. Now we again fail to provide clear rules for future elections. The decision to leave election law hidden beneath a shroud of doubt is baffling. By doing nothing, we invite further confusion and erosion of voter confidence. Our fellow citizens deserve better and expect more of us.”

“Baffling?” My deep, sincere, and abiding respect for you notwithstanding, sir, I must repeat: hardly. It is dismaying. It is disgusting. It is despicable, and it is damning. At this point, though, “baffling” it is NOT, sad as it is to have to say it.

Here t’is; the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. The 2020 election was stolen. We know it; the thieving scoundrels know it; the Vichy GOPe swine all know it. Everybody knows it, and the US Supreme Court knows it too. As not only a crucial subdivision of the Deep State but one of its most effective guardians also, the Court intends to see to it that the fraud stands, and that further challenges to the ragged legitimacy of the current Occupation Government will be summarily and contemptuously rebuffed using any excuse that can be manufactured. Ace puts it cleanly and clearly.

I can explain it: the “Shadow conspiracy” article in Time Magazine explained it.

The Shadow Conspiracy article in Time was written to alert the left that these changes were absolutely critical to fake-winning the election, and that therefore, anyone on the left and anyone supporting the permanent corrupt Deep State must fight with all their might to keep these illegal rules in place.

By the way, they keep saying that this wouldn’t effect the results of the election because they have repeatedly sifted the number of challenges down to the point where we’re talking about just a couple of thousand ballots.

They’ve figured out other ways to ignore the challenges to all the other ballots.

It’s like breaking down a cargo into a hundred pieces and saying of each tiny piece, “No, this won’t meaningfully affect the ship’s seaworthiness. No this one also won’t meaningfully affect the ship’s seaworthiness. No this one also won’t appreciably affect the ship’s seaworthiness…”

Yeah but take them all together and the ship sinks.

And so it has. Once again, Real Americans are treated to the unlovely spectacle of the Master class openly laughing in the faces of the lowly Serf class, taunting and jeering in celebration of a victory the Masters arrogantly presume to be permanent and unassailable. May Hubris of such unprecedented extravagance as this provoke a rebuke from Nemesis of equal magnitude. Never forget that History has a dissenting opinion of its own to offer, a judgment far more sweeping and powerful than any piffling petarade the pompous gasbags of the USSC can muster. The last word I’ll leave to Vox:

So much for the importance of electing Republicans to appoint Supreme Court justices….

Yup. Oh, and then there’s this:

AreCourtsLegitimate.jpeg

Yup again. And now we know that, too. So what, if anything, shall we do about all this?

Yet another alarm klaxon, klaxoning

An intriguing look at the Texas disaster, from the inside.

How would your family, and a hundred thousand other families, like to be stuck in your cars for days at minus 16 degrees?

The death toll would be huge.  It almost happened in New England in 1989.

And in Texas this week.

I was part of the 1989 Freeze and have some hopefully interesting insights.

In 1989, the weather just before Christmas was terrible.  Cold temperature records were set from Texas to New England.

That year, I was responsible for a midcontinent gas gathering system that normally produced about 500 million cubic feet (MMCFD) of natural gas a day.  That could supply up to 2 million New England homes.  During the 1989 Freeze, we produced 30 MMCFD, roughly a 95% decline.  Similar results were happening throughout the Oil Patch.  Supply cratered.

Meanwhile, demand for natural gas was exploding, almost literally (more on that below).  While the midcontinent temperatures were low enough to freeze gas wells, New England had dangerous arctic temperatures of minus 16 degrees.  This created huge natural gas demand for home heating in a major New England town.

The city ultimately weathered that crisis through luck.

Now that we’ve established this guy’s credentials, on to the juicy stuff.

Your city gas company takes gas from high-pressure interstate and intrastate gas pipelines. The gas then moves to customers through its lower-pressured gas distribution pipes. The gas pressure decrease as it as moves to the customers. Normally the utilities’ inlet gas pressure is more than enough for them to supply gas safely.

With 1989 gas production down dramatically and demand exploding, the high-pressure gas system could not supply enough gas to meet demand. This resulted in decreasing line pressures in the high-pressure supply system, lowering the gas utilities’ inlet gas pressure.

The utility’s inlet pressures were so low, and dropping, that soon the distribution system pressures would be below atmospheric pressure. Air could then flow into the gas pipelines. Typically, back-flow valves stop that. Since many of the furnaces were old and converted from prior fuels (oil, coal), proper valving was a big problem.

Oxygen in natural pipelines is incredibly dangerous. Whole city blocks could be destroyed in an air/gas explosion.

To maintain safe gas pressures, the operators wanted to shed load with localized gas shutoffs. Since all non-critical gas loads had already been shutoff, only critical loads were left. This included houses and hospitals. To save the gas grid, the operators had to cutoff gas to a very large number of customers.

Whose gas to shut off?

Scary stuff, this is, and absolutely essential reading. Don’t worry, though; now that Pretend pResident Bai-Ding has given complete access to all aspects of the decrepit and barely-functional US power infrastructure to his CCP handlers and officially made it a wholly-owned subsidiary of ChiCom Inc just like he personally is, I’ll sure our new overlords will be able staighten out this mess for us straightaway.

It’s complicated

Wilder does an in-depth examination of the Trouble with Texas, contending that it ain’t all about the windmills.

When we lived in Houston, I was shocked at the really poor design of the homes – sure they were fine for 95°F (2°C) and 95% humidity, but the house we lived in (and many I had seen when we were looking for a home to buy) had bare copper pipe running on the outside of the house.  The spigots outside were so poorly insulated that just walking by them with a decently cold beer would cause them to freeze and split.

And that’s just one problem.

As I’ve said before of John, it’s hard to excerpt his stuff. He deftly covers a lot of ground and is a damned good writer to boot, which makes it kinda tricky to limit yourself to mere snippets in a fashion that gets the point across. So go read the rest. Yes, there’s a bikini involved, should anybody require another reason.

Which isn’t to suggest that the Green Energy con isn’t playing a significant role in this (ahem!) Man-Caused Disaster, mind. Buck Throckmorton reminds us that things are tough all over.

Of course, once you get north of Texas, it’s even colder. Much of the central plains is dealing with temperatures below zero. They are rationing power too.

A snapshot of Midwest electricity production on February 17 shows that 55% is coming from coal while less than 3% is coming from “clean” wind and solar. The sun isn’t shining and the windmills aren’t turning. Yet our current ruling class is promising to take that coal down to 0% and replace it with wind and solar. Our country would be a frozen killing field if that plan were in place now.

Considering the Left’s professed predilection for massive population reduction in relief of poor overtaxed Gaia, plus their lunatic insistence on the installment of Communist tyranny worldwide, it’s easy to see that a frozen killing field IS the plan. There’s only one conclusion to be drawn.

We are ruled by a deluded class of fools who are no longer satisfied to use the climate hoax to limit our liberty and economic freedom. They are now freezing ordinary Americans to death. We need better leaders.

Better? Hell, I’d gladly settle for “not evil” at this point. Frighteningly enough, we haven’t even gotten to the REALLY bad news yet.

Texas’s Power Grid Disaster Is Only The Beginning
The mess with the Texas power grid is only the beginning. In the years to come, American infrastructure will fail more and more often, as America becomes less capable of maintaining the core elements of a First World country.

Why would America become less First World? That’s a simple question to answer: Because America is making itself less First World.

Texas’s struggles are only a standout example of a problem that has been building up for years. Last summer, California suffered rolling blackouts because electrical providers were unprepared for a surge in demand during a heat wave. But the problem is greater than that. America’s electrical reliability has been declining, almost everywhere, for decades. The United States of America now trails competing nations, often dramatically.

What causes this? One popular answer is simply aging infrastructure. America was one of the first countries to build a modern power grid, so infrastructure in many areas is very old and now fails with increasing frequency.

Of course, that naturally raises the question. If infrastructure is aging, why isn’t it being updated or replaced?

That is a political question, with many answers.

Follows, a look at a few of ’em, one of which manages to be a real jawdropper yet wholly unsurprising at the same time.

Another red flag for America’s infrastructure future is the Washington, D.C. Metro. The Metro has been known for years as one of the world’s worst, plagued with delays, safety issues, cost overruns, and poor maintenance.

How did the Metro get so horrid? In large part, because of wretched hiring. A 2012 report in The Washington Times revealed that Metro hiring was starkly racialized, with applicants clearly being hired or rejected based on skin color rather than demonstrated job aptitude:

Ninety-seven percent of the bus and train operators at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority are black, with only six white women out of more than 3,000 drivers … It is a culture in which a white male engineer near completion of a Ph.D. was passed over for a management position in favor of a black man who was barely literate, multiple staffers said. … Dozens said white workers, especially women, were openly subject to racist and sexist remarks without repercussion — behavior that drove many targets to seek transfers or leave the agency. All said they have been inexplicably passed over hundreds of times for promotions to positions such as station manager while others with less seniority passed them by.

Why do Metro’s particular failures matter? Because its rotten ethos is spreading across the country. While Metro is an outlier case, where a major public agency became a racial racket, countless agencies are adopting “diversity” guidelines that encourage choosing employees and contractors based on skin color rather than competence alone. When ability and effectiveness ceases to be the sole consideration for jobs, effectiveness suffers. That may not matter much for writers at The New York Times, where the only victims of affirmative action (besides whose passed over for jobs) are the paper’s readers. But for the basic buildings blocks of civilized life, the consequences can be severe.

In Steyn’s famous formulation, decline is a choice. But choice might not be the whole story. Ultimately, it will be the Great Dumbing-Down that dooms us.

Recent studies have reported a worrisome decline in IQ scores in Western nations over the last decades, a reversal of the once-hopeful Flynn Effect (named after the late philosopher and psychologist James R. Flynn) which posited a growth in cognitive abilities for much of the 20th Century. Now the Flynn Effect seems to have reversed, leading to predictions of a general dumbing down of selective populations. Other studies report that IQ erosion is not confined to this century but that IQ has dropped by an average of 14.1 percent over the last century. As Evan Horowitz writes for NBC News, “A range of studies using a variety of well-established IQ tests and metrics have found declining scores across Scandinavia, Britain, Germany, France and Australia.”

One recalls MIT economist Jonathan Gruber, the architect of Obamacare, who referred to “the stupidity of the American voter” as helping him to pass the controversial law. One wonders if Gruber ever heard of Swiss psychologist Jean Piaget’s test results purporting to show that “the rot starts at the top.” This would implicate Gruber and his cohort in the experience of what Piaget calls horizontal décalage, which stymies the application of cognitive functions and logical operations to extended tasks. In other words, Gruber et al. are also stupid, gradually destroying the very society that enabled them to flourish. But the rot can also start at the bottom, as a combination of generalized mental vacancy and low-to-no-information voters furthers cultural and social degeneration. As Morris Berman remarks in The Twilight of American Culture, “A society cannot function if nearly everyone in it is stupid.”

And, well, here we all are.

Why should we be surprised that an American president should pronounce “corpsman” as “corpseman”? Or that a Canadian prime minister says “peoplekind” in lieu of “mankind”? Or that a Washington, D.C., mayor and his staff should have objected to a perfectly good word like “niggardly”? Or that a Methodist pastor and Congressman should follow the exclamation “Amen” with “a-woman,” when an ordained minister should surely know that “Amen” is an acronym for the Hebrew אֵל מֶלֶךְ נֶאֱמָן (El melech neeman: “Lord and faithful King”)—or, as some scholars think, a calque for the Aramaic “so be it”? One can multiply these gaffes, misnomers, and malapropisms indefinitely among those who should know better—and that is merely scratching the surface. The dumbing down phenomenon is virtually encyclopedic in heft and extent.

And so it goes. A London community activist, asked about removing a Churchill statue during the summer of BLM love, admits she hasn’t “personally met” Winston Churchill. A swarm of Twitter users condemns Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady as “racist” for defeating half-black Kansas City Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes on Super Bowl LV during Black History Month—the fact that the great majority of Brady’s teammates are black and are clearly Brady enthusiasts seems to have escaped their attention. Major economic and energy policies seem planned not by cerebral giants but by weed-addled pubescents. Bill Gates, for example, wants to pepper the sky with aerosols to reflect sunlight out of the atmosphere and initiate global cooling—the risks are incommensurable and likely irreversible. Gates has what we might call “sector-intelligence” and might do well on segments of the Stanford-Binet IQ test, but I wouldn’t bet on his g score. The travesty of intelligence, prudence, and wisdom is beyond calculation, and it is only getting worse as IQ continues to slip down the great chain of thinking. This is the world that the classic film Idiocracy extravagantly punctures.

Why this should be is anybody’s guess. No one really knows. Various theories have been proposed to account for accelerating neural descent, ranging from the Dewey-inspired “progressive education” agenda working its leveling passage from the turn of the 20th century to the decrepit public schools and failed universities of the present day; to the softening effect of prolonged affluence and ease on a culture; to the debilitating influence of “smart” technology that performs our cognitive functions for us; to the assumption that women of higher intelligence are having fewer children, implying that women of lower intelligence are driving population growth; to the effects of increased media exposure and the consequent lessening of reading; to the emergence of the vices of envy and resentment owing to radical egalitarianism and the rancor of the under-performing against the skilled, hard-working, and successful, a dynamic cogently analyzed by Dinesh D’Souza in Stealing America; or to the merely inescapable fact of decay: as Robert Frost wrote, “Nothing gold can stay.” One thinks, too, of poet Gerard Manley Hopkins’ remark in his Journal: “From much, much more; from little, not much; and from nothing, nothing.” Whatever the cause or causes may be, intellectual deterioration seems to be the case.

The decline of intelligence—moral rectitude and creative exuberance are collateral casualties—is now in full throttle. The exceptions to the debacle—monks, nomads, people of integrity, people capable of common sense, the classically educated—represent the only viable hope for a new “ideational” age to arise out of the rubble of a “sensate” disaster. It may take another century to bring about what Sorokin called “the turn,” the slow ascent up the IQ ladder, which is cold comfort indeed. But I suspect it’s the only real comfort we have.

Cold being the operative word in all this.

Update! On the other hand, when you do the math you realize it kind of IS the unreliable renewables that are the biggest problem.

One decade ago, almost to the day, Feb. 2, 2011, extreme put a strain on the electric grid. The electric grid was unable to meet demand, and many experienced rolling blackouts for “up to an hour.” Yes, fossil fuel plants also struggled in the cold, but this isn’t about spin or protecting industry or pushing an agenda, it’s about facts.

Fast forward one decade and two weeks, and Texas again faced with extreme cold and a straining electric grid, but it’s not the same electricity mix. Texas for the past ten years had made concerted efforts to go green.

In 2011 about 6 percent of the electricity mix was generated from wind power. Today it’s 25 percent. Simultaneously, Texas has increased its overall electricity consumption by 20 percent as the state is attracting people from everywhere and the population is booming. Furthermore, three coal plants were taken offline. Indeed, the same type of storm of 2011 did not play out in the same circumstances in 2021. Did fossil fuels struggle? Absolutely, but their percentage of the grid dropped significantly.

Energy isn’t sexy. It’s math, physics, and numbers. But it’s also life. We’re told to stop the “existential threat” of climate change we must “go green,” and switch to green energy. I do this for a living and I’ve never seen one confirmed death from “climate change,” but today I can show you several Texan deaths clearly attributable to the cold, and no NBC news spin or AOC twitter stupidity will comfort their families. They are dead from a combination of factors: billionaires don’t like coal, politicians invent mandates, and utility commissioners rest on their reports as well as a severe winter storm.

Fossil fuels aren’t perfect, but renewables aren’t either. They have severe shortcomings, and the results can sometimes be deadly. We can learn what happened in Texas if we have a serious and necessary conversation about renewable energy. But will we?

After much careful, sober deliberation I decided to consult the online Magic 8 Ball for an answer to this momentous question, which responded with Outlook not so good. Going by the evidence to date, I’d say that thing’s predictive abilities are uncanny.
