Line in the sand: DRAWN

Not to prattle overmuch about this stuff, mind, but it seems to me that what Abbott has done with his defiant statement yesterday and his rock-steady refusal to allow CBP and DHS into Eagle Pass especially cannot be overstated. More on that anon; first, what our blog-bud Sefton has to say about the execrable Joaquin Castro is dead on the money.

First, Joaquin Castro is an insidious, rabid racialist and Marxist who has a hate on for America as founded. See his full rap sheet here via the invaluable Discover the Networks. He’s a huge fan of what is known as la Reconquista, the reconquest of much of the western United States he feels stolen by the Yanquis from Mexico. Much of that crap comes from a pseudo political and totally racist hate group known as “La Raza,” “The Race” in English, which his mother was/is intimately involved in. Don’t bother looking it up as a group being monitored by the SPLC or the DOJ. And yet “replacement theory” is crazy talk, right? Funny, La Raza rhymes with Gaza. But I digress.

Second, the gall of this puta madre to claim Abbott is responsible for the chaos on the border is off the charts. But, that’s a hallmark of Leftists. Projection. And Joe Manchin is a clueless douchebag. Biden and his handlers have intentionally erased our borders and fomented an invasion of the numerical equivalent of one of the largest armies in the world. The chaos, dislocation, criminal violence and potentially terrorist violence, individually or as one or more mass events, that is being unleashed and soon to be unleashed is the greatest national security threat the American people have ever faced.

Amen to every word of it, right down the line. I saw someplace or other that fake Hispanic Bobby “Beto” O’Rourke has put his oar in as well, with a similar plea for Biden to hurry up and federalize the TNG quick before something truly awful happens—like, say, Texas re-establishing and securing its southern border or something. No link, because fuck his stupid, grubby ass. As if anybody gives a fudgy fart what “Beto” thinks about anything anyhow.

Meanwhile, this happened:

Beautiful!

Whatever you may think about Abbott’s sincerity and backbone, the takeaway is this: things like this have a way of expanding way beyond the original intentions of those who first put the machine in motion, sometimes even against the originators’ wishes. That’s exactly what I see happening here; by r’aring up on his hind legs and defying a patently illegitimate rogue government, Abbott has enheartened and inspired the US subject-population in ways that are likely to generate results which cannot be predicted or controlled—not by Abbott, not by Biden, not by Biden’s FederalGovCo puppeteers, not by anybody.

All across the nation (even New Hampshire, ferchrissakes!), millions of fed-up Real Americans have been anxiously waiting for this historic moment, both dreading it and praying for it. At long last, it has arrived…thanks mostly to one Governor Greg Abbott. Call him a “cuck,” call him faithless and unreliable, call him whatever you like. It doesn’t matter now; where those put-upon millions take this is now completely out of his hands. Those of us who have long and intently studied it know that history can be funny like that sometimes.

Like all conflagrations, it needed but a single spark to set this blaze off—a spark which can often come from seemingly unlikely tinder. Down the years, it will be interesting indeed to learn if Abbott’s pivotal role will even be remembered by any but serious historians. At this point, there’s just one sure thing: when one sets out to ride a tiger, the tiger will assuredly go where HE wants to go, without reference to his pipsqueak passenger’s opinions regarding course, destination, distance, or speed.

As for those urging that Abbott the “cuck” not be trusted, that it’s all just another ploy or “trap,” I repeat: this isn’t about Abbott anymore, it’s out of his hands, or at least will be very soon. He may have started it, but it’s much bigger than any single man or personality; it will be up to Real Americans to finish it. Which, actually, is exactly as it should be.

Update! More on that declaration of support from 25 governors.

Governor Abbott has been a vocal critic of the Biden administration’s immigration policies, which he believes have encouraged a surge in illegal border crossings. In response, he has implemented a series of measures to strengthen border security, including deploying the Texas National Guard to the border and constructing additional fencing.

The Biden administration has sought to counter these efforts by challenging the legality of the state’s actions and attempting to remove border fencing in certain areas. However, the 25 Republican governors have pledged to stand by Governor Abbott and the state of Texas in their fight to secure the border.

In their joint statement, the governors argue that “the Biden Administration has attacked and sued Texas for stepping up to protect American citizens from historic levels of illegal immigrants, deadly drugs like fentanyl, and terrorists entering our country.” They further assert that “we do it in part because the Biden Administration is refusing to enforce immigration laws already on the books and is illegally allowing mass parole across America of migrants who entered our country illegally.”

The governors also point to their previous efforts to address the border crisis, including sending personnel and resources to Texas and Arizona through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC).

The support of these 25 Republican governors underscores the growing divide between the Biden administration and many state leaders on the issue of border security. As the battle over the border continues, it remains to be seen whether Governor Abbott and his allies will be able to maintain their efforts to secure the border in the face of opposition from the federal government.

Indeed it does. We haven’t reached a tipping point quite yet, but if the groundswell of righteous defiance continues and we all stand fast against the lawless Biden/Shadow State junta, rejection and resistance could intensify into outright rebellion faster than anyone imagines.

The saddest part of all is that it never should have come to this in the first damned place. There is simply no plausible argument to be made here that the Biden junta and its pig-ignorant supporters are in the right, nor that their heedless criminality proceeds from good intentions. The US Constitution, black-letter law both federal and state, and plain, ordinary old common sense all say otherwise, flatly and unequivocally. Should the open-borders malefactors persist, they will force a physical confrontation that they cannot win with liberty-minded patriots who have nothing left to lose.

MOAR Abbott!

Since I already tacked an update onto Barry’s earlier post, I’ll just let this revoltin’ development have its own main-page spot.

President Biden Urged to Seize Texas National Guard – Joe Manchin Calls for National Emergency
On Wednesday, Representative Joaquin Castro (D-TX) called on President Biden to “seize” the Texas National Guard by calling them into Federal service, removing them from the command and control of the State of Texas. This is presumably in response to Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s defiant tone towards the Biden Administration on closing the border.

A Texas congressman has urged President Biden to take the state’s National Guard under federal control if Republican Governor Greg Abbott defies a Supreme Court ruling allowing federal agents to remove razor wire from a section of the U.S.-Mexico border.

The call was made by Democratic Representative Joaquin Castro after Abbott posted on X, formerly Twitter, saying the Texas National Guard would continue to “hold the line in Eagle’s Pass,” a popular migrant crossing point, stating: “Texas will not back down from our efforts to secure the border in Biden’s absence.”

Castro re-shared Abbott’s post on his own X account, adding: “Governor Greg Abbott is using the Texas National Guard to obstruct and create chaos at the border.

As of this writing, there has been no action on this by the Biden Administration.

Astoundingly despicable, even for the D卐M☭CRATs. Which, my friends, is really saying something at this point.

This idea by Rep. Castro raises some interesting questions:

  1. Were the President to activate the Texas National Guard under Title 10, what would their orders be? To assist federal officers in throwing open the gates?
  2. What happens if members of the Texas National Guard refuse activation and instead continue to follow the orders of TX-ANG officers and Governor Abbott?
  3. What if the Texas Guard splits, and former comrades end up facing each other across that red line?
  4. If the Pentagon sends federal troops, how willing are they going to be to confront other Americans to allow the continued invasion of the country?
  5. Is there any possibility that there may be open conflict between Texas and federal officials?

I’m no wild-eyed conspiracy theorist, but this is the kind of thing that civil wars start over.

It is at that, but it brings other questions to mind: Is there really no extreme to which these lackwits will not go to ensure the Southern border remains wide open and unpoliced? Does despoiling and destroying the nation really mean that much to them? Or is it more that they really do WANT to spark a civil war? Ultimately, is that really the primary goal here?

So far, we know that they find the very idea behind the “Make America Great Again” slogan repellent, intolerable, grotesquely offensive. And now, we also know they find the idea of a secure, orderly national border equally objectionable, perhaps even more so. To Normal Americans, neither of these wholly innocuous, once-mainstream concepts ought even to be matters of controversy and/or discord at all. Until quite recently, they were simply taken as read—fundamental, mundane, even trivial “givens” subscribed to by all Americans who weren’t actually howling-at-the-moon mad—things youngsters discussed in grade-school civics classes, not touchy, explosive topics for sensible adults to scream themselves into purple-faced aneurysms over.

Note ye well, also, that it is America and America alone that frothing Lefty loons demand be utterly without a national border; maybe I missed it somehow, but I can’t recollect ever hearing these freaks foaming at the mouth over Germany, or Sweden, or Spain, or New Zealand having one, and deciding for themselves who is and is not allowed to cross it.

Likewise another facile, elementary precept: that of “the national interest.” Every other nation-state on earth has ‘em, a fact which doesn’t seem to disturb these nutjobs in the least, not even when said nation-states actively pursue and promote them in their interactions with other countries. The FUSA, though? Don’t even think about it, you rotten, evil, hateful ReichWingNaziHitlerDeathbeasts, you.

What we’re talking about here are the basic concepts which define nationhood itself, absent which…well, you simply aren’t one, that’s all. This goes well beyond mere stupidity; it’s actual, literal insanity—insanity not as metaphor or allusion or rhetorical device, but clinical, textbook mental pathology. A fair few of what we used to call “dextrosphere” bloggers were fond of a slogan one of us OGs, can’t remember who, coined years and years ago: liberalism delenda est. We all snickered over that one; who could have imagined it would turn out to be not just our little in-joke, but a cold, hard, real-world fact?

Civil war, eh? Yet another in a seemingly endless parade of horribles forced upon reasonable, peaceable, good-hearted folks all unwilling by a pack of rabid, mentally-deranged jackals who are constitutionally incapable of leaving anybody and/or anything alone. Once more, with feeling: careful what you wish for, shitlibs. Keep on pushing and pushing like this, and you just might get yourself one—more of it than you’ll like. I promise you, you won’t enjoy it. Calls for a rerun from last week’s Memezapoppin’! collection, I believe.

‘Nuff said.

Governor Abbot Responds

Texas Governor Greg Abbott Releases Statement: “I have declared an invasion under Article I, § 10, Clause 3 to invoke Texas’s constitutional authority to defend and protect itself”

Update (from Mike)! The full text of Abbott’s statement, or as full as I could find without having to resort to one of those never-to-be-sufficiently-damned PDFs.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued a defiant statement on Wednesday pushing back against President Joe Biden’s attempts to stop Texas from securing its borders against the millions of illegal aliens pouring into the state thanks to Biden’s reckless border policies.

Abbott’s statement comes after the U.S. Supreme Court sided with the Biden administration earlier this week, ruling that it could remove or cut through razor wire the state has deployed to stop illegal aliens from crossing the Rio Grande into the state.

“President Biden has violated his oath to faithfully execute immigration laws enacted by Congress,” Abbott said. “Instead of prosecuting immigrants for the federal crime of illegal entry, President Biden has sent his lawyers into federal courts to sue Texas for taking action to secure the border.”

“President Biden has instructed his agencies to ignore federal statutes that mandate the detention of illegal immigrants. The effect is to illegally allow their en masse parole into the United States,” he continued, adding: “By wasting taxpayer dollars to tear open Texas’s border security infrastructure, President Biden has enticed illegal immigrants away from the 28 legal entry points along this State’s southern border—bridges where nobody drowns—and into the dangerous waters of the Rio Grande.”

The governor noted that more than 6 million illegal aliens have entered Texas through its southern border under the Biden administration, a number greater than the population of 30 U.S. states.

Abbott continued:

James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and the other visionaries who wrote the U.S. Constitution foresaw that States should not be left to the mercy of a lawless president who does nothing to stop external threats like cartels smuggling millions of illegal immigrants across the border. That is why the Framers included both Article IV, § 4, which promises that the federal government “shall protect each [State] against invasion,[“] and Article I, § 10, Clause 3, which acknowledges “the States’ sovereign interest in protecting their borders.” Arizona v. United States, 567 U.S. 387, 419 (2012) (Scalia, J., dissenting).

Abbott said that Biden’s failures to secure the border “imposed by Article IV, § 4 has triggered Article I, § 10, Clause 3, which reserves to this State the right of self-defense.”

“For these reasons, I have already declared an invasion under Article I, § 10, Clause 3 to invoke Texas’s constitutional authority to defend and protect itself,” he concluded. “That authority is the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary. The Texas National Guard, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and other Texas personnel are acting on that authority, as well as state law, to secure the Texas border.”

Well said, Governor, DAMNED well said. This fiery, take-no-prisoners version of Greg Abbott is a keeper; hopefully, he realizes just how stirringly the words above will ring in Real American ears, how deeply his staunch defiance of a rogue central government, with both words and deeds, will gladden and inspire American hearts. Whatever he may have been or not been before, it is simply incontrovertible that right now, in this golden moment, he’s one of the very best we have on the ranch.

Is he perfect? Of course not, and what of it? I have nothing but admiration for the man, and not just Texans but all true patriots should be grateful indeed to have him. I must say it again, as I did of DeSantis (to no avail): let the Presidency the hell alone, Governor, I beseech you. Anyone in your inner circle who might be whispering in your ear of higher office, attempting to appeal to your ambition and stoke your ego, is NOT your friend, nor your constituents’, nor your country’s. America needs you most right where you are, continuing to do the outstanding job you’re doing for all of us.

American classic

All hail the one, the only, the all-American Zippo.

Zippo Lighters: The Vietnam War Icon
During the Vietnam War, the trend of personalized the Zippo lighter emerged. Soldiers, with the assistance of local artists in Vietnam, began engraving their Zippos with various slogans. These engravings frequently carried a tone of sarcasm or expressed anti-war sentiments. This practice of customizing lighters gained popularity, as engraving messages on the metal casings of Zippos became a widespread phenomenon.

The Zippo lighter is a simple yet functional item, made of chrome-plated brass and measuring 2.2 inches in height with a weight of 2.05 ounces. It’s designed for efficiency, capable of being opened and lit with a single, practiced movement, and emits a satisfying ‘thwink’ sound upon being snapped shut.

However, during the Vietnam War, Zippos transcended their role as mere lighters. They became symbolic, much like the crests on medieval knights’ armor, bearing slogans that reflected the soldiers’ internal views on what many felt was a futile mission.

These lighters were comparable to tattoos in their personal significance. The custom engraving was often done in small, makeshift shops by the roadside.

Comparable to tattoos? Well, much as I’ve always loved my Zippos, let’s not get nuts here about this. A tattoo represents much, much more in the way of personal commitment, sacrifice, and dedication than a lighter purchasable in any truck stop for about 14.95.

History
The origins of the iconic Zippo lighter trace back to 1932 in Pennsylvania. George G. Blaisdell observed a friend struggling with a bulky Austrian-designed lighter, which was cumbersome and required two hands to operate, though it had a sturdy flame protected by an internal chimney.

Blaisdell set out to refine this design. His initial model retained the protective chimney but was more compact and stylish. He added a hinge connecting the lid to the base, allowing for one-handed operation. These innovations quickly popularized his creation, which he named the Zippo.

In 1936, Blaisdell patented his lighter design and offered a unique guarantee, promising to repair any defective Zippo at the company’s expense. The Zippo’s legacy was profoundly shaped by two major conflicts: World War II and the Vietnam War.

With America’s entry into WWII in 1941, Blaisdell ceased commercial production of Zippo lighters, focusing instead on supplying American soldiers. Due to wartime restrictions, the Zippo factory used lower-grade metal, and the lighters were given a protective “black crackle” finish.

Someplace around here I should have one of those wrinkle-black Zippos, I believe, althought not WW2 vintage; my friends, incredible as it may seem, even I am not that fuckin’ cool. My current favorite Zippo amongst the ten or twelve I still have would have to be this ‘un:

Okay, okay, allow me to adjust my previous statement a wee mite: I AM pretty danged cool after all.

A-HENH.

The Vietnam/Zippo chronicle continues at the link, featuring many snaps of those custom-engraved, jungle-dwelling, hooch-torching Zips of yore. It’s a fascinating tale, of which you should read the all.

Happy Armistice/Remembrance/Veterans Day!

The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, by tradition, the time and date in 1918 the Armistice bringing hostilities to a close was scheduled to go into effect.

Armistice Day, later known as Remembrance Day in the Commonwealth and Veterans Day in the United States, is commemorated every year on 11 November to mark the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at Compiègne, France, at 5:45 am for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front of World War I, which took effect at 11:00 am—the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” of 1918 although, according to Thomas R. Gowenlock, an intelligence officer with the U.S. First Division, shelling from both sides continued for the rest of the day, ending only at nightfall. The armistice initially expired after a period of 36 days and had to be extended several times. A formal peace agreement was reached only when the Treaty of Versailles was signed the following year.

The date is a national holiday in France, and was declared a national holiday in many Allied nations. However, many Western countries and associated nations have since changed the name of the holiday from Armistice Day, with member states of the Commonwealth of Nations adopting Remembrance Day, and the United States government opting for Veterans Day. In some countries Armistice Day coincides with other public holidays.

As might easily have been foreseen, at least according to the usual 20/20 hindsight, the War To End All Wars did no such thing; a mere twenty years later, the folly of indulging such wishful thinking would be established for all time.

Closely juxtaposed with Veterans Day every November 11th, there’s another martial anniversary well worth remembering for American patriots: the founding—in a bar, natch—of the philanthropical and charitable organization revered far and wide as Uncle Sam’s Misguided Children.

Here are some badass stories to help ring in the Marine Corps’ birthday
When Samuel Nicholas was tasked with raising two battalions of Marines in Philadelphia, he knew just where to go: a bar.

Nicholas headed to Tun Tavern that fateful Nov. 10 in 1775, and — so the traditional story goes — the Continental Marines were born.

Two hundred forty-eight years later, Tun Tavern is gone, but the Marine Corps is still around.

Happy birthday, Marines. Before you head out to your local birthday ball, celebrate with this roundup of some of the great things Marines have done since turning 247.

Marines step up in malls, embassies and Chick-fil-As
In December 2022, Marine recruiter Staff Sgt. Josue Fragoso and applicant Scott Elliott were going through paperwork in a California mall when they heard glass shattering. They proceeded to nab two suspects who apparently were in the middle of a smash-and-grab heist of the mall’s jewelry store.

In April, three Marines who had recently graduated from Marine embassy security training at Quantico, Virginia, broke up a fight during a lunchtime excursion to a nearby Chick-fil-A. One of the Marines, Lance Cpl. Nicholas Dural, managed to break an alleged assailant’s knife in half.

Then Dural went to get a haircut — and didn’t tell his barber what had just happened.

“I try to be as humble as possible,” he told Marine Corps Times.

Obstacle course is no obstacle for 4-foot-7-inch Marine
The 4-foot-7-inch Pfc. Nathaniel Laprade made it through boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina, in September, becoming possibly the shortest U.S. service member ever.

Many of the obstacles in the obstacle course were taller than Laprade, but he made it over without much trouble. He just had to jump a little higher, he said.

Laprade said of his peers in boot camp, “I think they kind of looked up to me in a way. I had one recruit, now a Marine, who told me that I was his motivation.”

During his enlistment process, Laprade heard from recruiters about Richard Flaherty, a 4-foot-9-inch Green Beret who became known as the “Giant Killer” for his service in Vietnam.

“The main part that inspired me was that he was Army and 4 foot 9 inches,” Laprade said. “If I go Marines when I’m 4 foot 7 inches, I will beat him in two ways.”

More still at the link, just a few among so many wonderful stories of Gyrene aplomb, pluck, and derring-do that form an important part of Marine Corps history. And lest we forget, there’s also the legendary Marine’s Marine Chesty Puller.

Lewis Burwell “Chesty” Puller (June 26, 1898 – October 11, 1971) was a United States Marine Corps officer. Beginning his career fighting guerillas in Haiti and Nicaragua as part of the Banana Wars, he later served with distinction in World War II and the Korean War as a senior officer. By the time of his retirement in 1955, he had reached the rank of lieutenant general.

Puller is the most decorated Marine in American history. He was awarded five Navy Crosses and one Distinguished Service Cross. With six crosses, Puller is second behind Eddie Rickenbacker for citations of the nation’s second-highest military award for valor. Puller retired from the Marine Corps in 1955, after 37 years of service. He lived in Virginia and died in 1971 at age 73.

Again, just the lead-in to a much larger, longer story.

7 Legends About ‘Chesty’ Puller, the Most Decorated Marine in US History
Lewis “Chesty” Puller (1898-1971), was a 37-year veteran of the USMC, ascended to the rank of lieutenant general and is the most decorated Marine in the history of the Corps. He served in World War II, Haiti, Nicaragua and the Korean War. The concrete facts surrounding his military service are astounding, but his grassroots legacy is carved out by stories echoed through generations of Marines that sound crazy enough to be true only for Puller.

His Nickname “Chesty” Came from the Legend that He Had a False “Steel Chest.”
There are many legends surrounding how Lewis “Chesty” Puller got his nickname. One says that it came from his boisterous, commanding voice that was miraculously heard over the sounds of battle. There are even some that say that it is literal — and that his chest was hacked away in the banana wars and replaced with an iron steel slab.

“All Right, They’re on Our Left. They’re on Our Right. They’re in Front of Us. They’re Behind Us. They Can’t Get Away This Time.”
This is one of the most iconic quotes from Puller. His men were completely surrounded, and what initially seemed like doom would soon be revealed to them as the beginnings of victory.

He Always Led by Example.
Puller famously put the needs of his men in front of his own. In training, he carried his own pack and bedding roll while marching at the head of his battalion. He afforded himself no luxuries his men did not have — usually meaning a diet consisting only of “K” rations. When in New Britain, Papua New Guinea, legend has it that he slept on the bare floor of an abandoned hut and refused to let the native people make him a mattress of banana leaves. And he always refused treatment when wounded until his men had been attended to.

The traditional American nation, battered, bruised, and bloodied as it now is, will always have need of such men, as many of them as it can possibly get. Amerika v2.0, on the other hand, is not only incapable of producing them, but actively scorns and shuns them, favoring…well, other, far lesser breeds, shall we say.

Happy birthday, Marines, and many happy returns. May God bless and keep you all.

And tonight I see one of the greatest Americans has passed away, Astronaut Frank Borman, commander of the first Apollo mission to the moon, circling the moon ten times.

And this in 1968, 55 years ago.

The People that Don’t Like Me are the Rich People”

1995 Interview with Roger Ailes.

Trump 2020 is basically the same as Trump 1995, and Trump is liked and admired by the average Joe, which is why he won in 2016 and won by a landslide in 2020. He will win again in 2024, the question being – will we allow a 2nd coup to occur?

You cannot listen to this interview, now nearly 30 years old, without recognizing the genuine American character this man has. Not if your honest anyway.

Carlson Interviews O’Reilly – A Must Watch

It’s pretty funny before it turns serious. I learned a few things about O’Reilly that I didn’t know. I had no idea that members of his “club” could email him for help, and they respond to the non whackos.

O’Reilly calls this “The Age of Disorder”, “We are in the chaos now”.

Something I didn’t know – Trump threatened president of Mexico Obrador that he would declare the mexican cartels terrorists, whack them from above with drones and send the special forces in to kill them. Thus the Mexicans put the Mexican army on the border of Guatemala and the US to shut down the flow of illegals. Add in the economic trade preferences favorable to the US, all to keep the US from essentially invading Mexico to kill the cartels.

Result: Illegal flow down 80% and economy booming with inflation under 2% and gas at prices of 1975.

I had always thought the entire Mexican response was to the threat from Trump about the economy.

It Really is That Damn Good, Part 2

Final arguments in the Texas based Bush cabal impeachment of Ken Paxton.

“He beat the latest in line for the bush’s”
“The Bush era in Texas ends today”
“They can go back to Maine”

Update!: The communist Bush clan has failed,as Ken Paxton Acquitted on all 16 articles of impeachment.

Let the retribution begin.

Update 2: The Texas impeachment mangers held back 4 charges that they “thought” they could hold over Paxton’s head:
“Four original articles were held in abeyance, with the Senate dismissing them in a vote conducted after the acquittal.”
The senate nuked those. As I said above, “Let the retribution begin“.
Senate Nukes the remaining 4 charges

Update 3:
Apparently, having failed to stop Paxton at the state level, the feds will now attempt to stop him –
The Corrupt Feds Will Indict a Ham Sandwich, Again

It Really is That Damn Good

There are some really good lawyers in this world, just a few, but when they are on the side of right they are beacons of light in the dark.

Elected Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is under assault by the Texas Bush clan working together with democrats. What is Mr. Paxton’s real crime? He beat George P Bush and he supports Donald Trump, and he knows the 2020 election was stolen.

Texas is trouble and the republican party (spit) is attempting to convict Paxton in an impeachment trial with no evidence of any wrong doing. Allegations Baby!

Via: The Treehouse

Update: As hhluce notes in the comments, the republican prosecution team is still at it.

And from the trial – “Previously Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s personal assistant, Drew Wicker, made an accusation that a Texas donor named Nate Paul funded a kitchen remodel for Paxton. A quid pro quo to sell influence.

However, during cross examination today, Drew Wicker admitted the kitchen remodel never took place, and the actual details of the home remodel being done by Paxton was taking place *after* the office “whistleblowers” went to the FBI with their ungrounded claims. Paxton’s attorney Tony Buzbee showed Drew Wicker pictures of the kitchen taken three years ago and also taken last month. There was never any remodel work completed. This is the central point of the alleged bribery.

Buzbee Does It Agaian

It gets better – the prosecution deny’s the pictures of the kitchen from before and after (that were identical) were correctly dated. Buzbee suggests they just drive over to examine the supposed “kitchen remodel)…

FREEDOM!!!

"There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters."
Daniel Webster

“When I was young I was depressed all the time. But suicide no longer seemed a possibility in my life. At my age there was very little left to kill.”
Charles Bukowski

“A slave is one who waits for someone to come and free him.”
Ezra Pound

“The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it’s profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.”
Frank Zappa

“The right of a nation to kill a tyrant in case of necessity can no more be doubted than to hang a robber, or kill a flea.”

"It is terrible to contemplate how few politicians are hanged."
GK Chesterton

"I predict that the Bush administration will be seen by freedom-wishing Americans a generation or two hence as the hinge on the cell door locking up our freedom. When my children are my age, they will not be free in any recognizably traditional American meaning of the word. I’d tell them to emigrate, but there’s nowhere left to go. I am left with nauseating near-conviction that I am a member of the last generation in the history of the world that is minimally truly free."
Donald Sensing

"The only way to live free is to live unobserved."
Etienne de la Boiete

"History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid."
Dwight D. Eisenhower

"To put it simply, the Left is the stupid and the insane, led by the evil. You can’t persuade the stupid or the insane and you had damn well better fight the evil."
Skeptic

"There is no better way to stamp your power on people than through the dead hand of bureaucracy. You cannot reason with paperwork."
David Black, from Turn Left For Gibraltar

"If the laws of God and men, are therefore of no effect, when the magistracy is left at liberty to break them; and if the lusts of those who are too strong for the tribunals of justice, cannot be otherwise restrained than by sedition, tumults and war, those seditions, tumults and wars, are justified by the laws of God and man."
John Adams

"The limits of tyranny are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress."
Frederick Douglass

"Give me the media and I will make of any nation a herd of swine."
Joseph Goebbels

“I hope we once again have reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited. There’s a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: As government expands, liberty contracts.”
Ronald Reagan

"Ain't no misunderstanding this war. They want to rule us and aim to do it. We aim not to allow it. All there is to it."
NC Reed, from Parno's Peril

"I just want a government that fits in the box it originally came in."
Bill Whittle
