Yep. I remember that. R12 Freon was eliminated in favor of the next one that was less efficient and more expensive and R12 systems didn’t like it. All over the world, including Mexico you could still get R12 dirt cheap. I remember some poor dude came back from Mexico with a couple of 12 ounce cans and went to jail for it.
It was a scam then, and it’s all scams now.
