This is utterly disgusting, offensive, and infuriating, that such a thing could even be taking place in what was once thought to be a (somewhat) free country. But, alas, not very shocking at all anymore. Who even knows how many of these little “friendly visits” are happening every single day, all across Amerika v2.0?

That conversation went on way too long.
Should have walked back inside without saying anything at all, and closed and locked the door.
The secret to the right to remain silent is to Remain Silent.
Any conversation where law enforcement of any kind comes to you without you inviting them should be viewed as adversarial – they are there to find evidence against you and your interests. If you tell them something untrue in the least regard, even if you do not know it to be untrue, this can be used to charge you with a federal offense. My advice is simple – DO NOT TALK WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT OR FEDERAL AGENTS – it’s just not worth the risk. It’s a shame that things should come to this, but that’s the way things are and the way that the government has chosen them to be. Legal process in federal court can easily bankrupt you, even if you are innocent, and there are a lot of innocent people in federal prisons who are there because they could not afford to fight the charges and took a bad plea deal. And law enforcement can lie to you and make threats, but if you do the same – even if you don’t know what you say to be untrue – it’s federal prison, the loss of everything you own, or both.
Excellent advice. Most people on the Right side of the political spectrum have an unreasoning trust of “law enforcement officers.” This message must get around, and swiftly: whether federal, state, or local, “Officer Friendly” is not your friend! He’s looking to make arrests that will be credited with bringing about convictions; that’s his path to promotion, pay increases, and a comfy retirement. Don’t help him by putting your neck on the block!
Absolutely correct. No warrant, no discussion, period. Warrant, then call your lawyer and let him do the talking.
