As Dylan sang, you got to serve somebody. All too many cops seem to be choosing…poorly.

Franklin Graham Wanted to Honor Seattle Police. They Spat in His Face.
The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) is hosting dinners to express appreciation for the brave men and women in law enforcement. Yet after the BGEA’s president, Franklin Graham, invited police in Seattle, Wash., to attend one of the free dinners at a four-star hotel, the Seattle Police Department (SPD) issued a condemnation of Graham and his organization due to their support for biblical Christianity. Leftists and antifa in Seattle have demonized police, but it seems evangelical Christians are the lowest of the low — even the police want nothing to do with them.

Earlier this month, SPD Chief Adrian Diaz revoked a department-wide email invitation to the BGEA’s Seattle-area law enforcement appreciation dinner on May 11, citing concerns about alienating “our community’s LGBTQ members.”

“I want to make clear the Department fully supports the equity and just treatment of all people. The SPD did not sponsor this event and is not connected in any way to its hosts. Today I sent a department-wide email to rescind the invitation because its hosts do not share the inclusive values of the SPD,” the police chief concluded.

Officers went public with complaints about the BGEA, and Sgt. Randy Huserik, an SPD spokesperson, told The Seattle Times that he would have preferred the police had reported their objections internally, instead. Huserik also said he did not know how the invitation was extended to SPD.

“Obviously it was not the department’s intent to offend the LGBTQ members of the department and the LGBTQ community at large,” he said.

The BGEA events do not even concern LGBT politics or issues of sexuality and gender — they are celebrations for police, who face unjust demonization and accusations of “systemic racism” after the horrific death of George Floyd.

In a statement to the Times, Franklin Graham expressed appreciation for police, no matter their sexual orientation or background.

“Regardless of their beliefs, sexual orientation, or the color of their skin, it doesn’t change in any way the fact that we are deeply grateful for the jobs they do and the sacrifices they make. They deserve our support and to know how much they are appreciated,” Franklin Graham said in the statement.

Oh, there’s bigotry and prejudice aplenty in play here, but it ain’t Franklin Graham who’s guilty of it.

But here’s the rub: DO the cops deserve our further support? Police officers across the country look the other way as BLM and pAntiFa loot, burn, and rampage, then eagerly go after Trump supporters hammer and tongs. They’ve arrested bloodied and bashed-up victims of Leftist gang-assault for merely trying to defend themselves, then let the violent perps walk without so much as a stern talking-to. The police have flouted the Law Enforcement Oath of Honor repeatedly by going along with illegal and/or unethical directives without ever batting an eye. Fools that they are, they submit to—even embrace—the very cop-hating politicians who regularly denounce them, defame them, and defund them.

For whatever reason, big city police blindly remain loyal to their own tormentors, alienating the people who are their natural base of support every step of the way. So yeah, defund/disband the dimbulbs for all I care. The good cops among ’em have probably all quit or taken early retirement in disgust by now anyway, I imagine. Let the rest go on serving their left-wing masters as and how they will, then, and may they have joy of their choice. Like I’ve said many times, Trump should’ve concentrated all that Big Beautiful Wall-building of his on getting America’s Urban Blightland fenced off and securely segregated from the saner parts of the country instead of wasting his efforts on the southern border. The cities represent a far greater hazard to America That Was than illegal immigration ever did, or even could.

  1. But here’s the rub: DO the cops deserve our further support?

    No

Not until and unless they prove they’re worthy of it, and that’s going to have to be on an individual cop by individual cop basis.

  2. “So yeah, defund/disband the dimbulbs for all I care.”

My preferred solution. The cops are there to protect the criminals. Eliminate the cops and we can then take care of the criminals the same way we did before cops.

Of course the truth is, the left doesn’t want to defund or disband the cops, they just want to make the force national and a part of the marxist party. Defund is just part of that strategy.
