Researchers Make Non-Alcoholic Beer Taste Like Regular Beer
The researchers are pleased to be able to contribute to a much healthier lifestyle and hope that their new invention will help more people cut down on alcohol because now they will have equally delicious alternatives.
Maybe the researchers have missed this, but most people drink beer for the alcohol. Whether to numb the drudgery of their lives, to loosen up and laugh at a party, or in order to get laid, the alcohol is the whole point.
People who drink beer only for the flavor should stick to juice boxes. And juice boxes have a straw!
The article told me one thing I didn’t know:
aroma hops are mainly farmed in the west coast of the U.S.
Given that hops are high in phytoestrogens, I wonder if this explains some of the oddities of Washington and Oregon? The people who flock to Portland aren’t exactly manly men, if you know what I mean.
“Maybe the researchers have missed this…”
From what I’ve seen the last 50 years or so, they miss a lot and they miss often, regardless of what their research is about.
Sort of like making soy burgers that taste like beef. You know what already tastes like beef? Beef.
Which brings to mind this:
Due to the Chinese Curse, I developed blood clots. Which means I’m on blood thinners for a while, at least, which means no alcohol. So if they come up with something that approximates the taste of a good English ale at a reasonable price, I’m all about it.
Due to medications, I will drink a non-alcoholic beer when I want one with my meal. I am also always the one driving, so another good reason. Some of them aren’t too bad. They are much better than they used to be years ago. But no, they do not taste exactly like regular beer.
Steve, I can’t drink because of my meds. Soft drinks are out, don’t care for them, nor ice tea. The nonalcoholic drinks are the best choice for me. Some of the beers are pretty good. Can’t enjoy the truly tasty stouts or lagers, but still not bad.
