DuToit follows up on my NOOSCAR screed with a sentiment that I can only second, with all my heart and soul.
Ditto for the NFL. Both organizations, flush with TV money, don’t seem to give a rat’s ass about their actual audience.
Naturally, this whole thing is irrelevant to me, as I don’t follow either sport (being of the Europhile heritage, prefer the actual football, and Formula 1). So I can look at the situation dispassionately and with quiet amusement, treating the doings of both as a marketing exercise.
Not that football and Formula 1 are paragons of righteousness, of course; I expect them both to succumb to the blowjobs demanded of them by the various foul organizations such as BLM, feminism and Pantifa and their loathsome offshoots.
The nice thing about supporting a sport, however, is that participation is purely voluntary and money not spent on an NFL Redzone subscription can just be spent on ammunition or a new gun — which will really piss off all the Commies.
And the only way for US to be happy is for THEM to be profoundly unhappy.
F1 went left and screwed up earlier than NooseCAR. Another great sport ruined by the progs and the prog leadership. In the case of F1, Ecclestone did it almost single handedly.
your-o-peeing football sucks. American football was great up until about 20 years ago.
The downfall of most sports began in 1979 with the founding of ESPN. They’ll ruin everything they touch and corrupt the ones they don’t.
I’m curious about who it is that NASCAR thinks they are going to appeal to. If they turn their backs on their core fan base of rural and southern white men, who do they think they will replace them with? Soy-latte-sipping metrosexuals from the Northeast and big cities?
Really? People who ride public transit or bicycle to work or who – when they do deign to use personal transportation are proud to say they drive a fuel-sipping hybrid or a politically progressive Subaru – are suddenly going to become lovers of noisy, smoky, fuel guzzling, CO emitting race cars?
What exactly is NASCAR trying to do, become the Dixie Chicks of sports?
NooseCar joins the list of organizations that are embarassed by their deplorable customer base. So they will now focus all their branding efforts on people who hate them and will never buy their products, because that always works so well. But at least they will be able to hold their heads high in front of their leftist friends at all the really nice cocktail parties. Priorities!
“…the Dixie Chicks of sports.”
Heh, that’s the “Chicks of Sports” now.
I doubt NooseCAR knows who the fans are any better than the CEO of McDonalds knows his customers. Just like the CEO’s of many chains never go through their own drive through or eat the food served up, NooseCar management doesn’t mingle with the fans in the stands, only the ones in the air conditioned boxes loaded with people for whom the race is a distraction.
The next generation takes over and they are used to living life in AC sipping champagne and snoggling caviar by the ladleful.
They have no connection to the actual fanbase but they also have little understanding of the fanbase they think they can attract as well.
They’re rich kids in a bubble.
“They’re rich kids in a bubble.”
And Stupid…
