Awwww, no.
Bruce Willis’s Family Shares Major Update on Actor’s Health
Bruce Willis’s family announced Thursday that the “Die Hard” actor was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, confirming that his condition “progressed” after he stepped away from acting last year.
In March 2022, his family said Willis, 67, was diagnosed with aphasia and was “stepping away” from acting.
His ex-wife, actress Demi Moore, confirmed the frontotemporal dementia diagnosis in an Instagram post on Thursday. Some health authorities say the condition is an “uncommon type of dementia” that can lead to problems with language and behavior.
“Our family wanted to start by expressing our deepest gratitude for the incredible outpouring of love, support and wonderful stories we have all received since sharing Bruce’s original diagnosis,” Moore, who shares three children with Willis, wrote on behalf of the family. “In the spirit of that, we wanted to give you an update about our beloved husband, father and friend since we now have a deeper understanding of what he is experiencing.”
“Bruce has always found joy in life—and has helped everyone he knows to do the same. It has meant the world to see that sense of care echoed back to him and to all of us,” Thursday’s statement added. “We have been so moved by the love you have all shared for our dear husband, father, and friend during this difficult time. Your continued compassion, understanding, and respect will enable us to help Bruce live as full a life as possible.”
Damn, I really do hate to hear this. All best wishes to Bruce, Demi, and his family.
It’s sad as hell. Long ago I sat next to him on a flight home from Texas. I didn’t realize who he was as we chatted a few minutes until we did a semi formal introduction and he said his name. I think he smiled when he saw the semi shocked look on my face. Anyway, nice guy IMO.
How he got mixed up with that Demi Moore is a mystery.
Oh yeah, she was hot.
But on the wrong quadrant of the Hot/Crazy Matrix.
I’m calling stroke, secondary to getting The Jabs.
67-year-olds don’t suddenly and progressively lose their shit like this.
87-year-olds? Sure.
67-year-olds, who were acting in multiple flicks/year without any problem just a year or two beforehand? No. Fucking. Way.
For what reason do you believe they are lying about the diagnosis?
I don’t think they’re necessarily lying about that diagnosis.
I think they’re not talking about the etiology that allowed him to get to that diagnosis, and/or anything else going on with Willis. If it was Demi, given her lifelong drug use, I wouldn’t bat an eye at her brain being fried. Bruce, OTOH? My radar says “Bullshit is being perpetrated.”
Actors who should be living into their 80s and even 90s relatively intact, more so than the average Joe, given socio-economic standing and access to top-notch medical care, and per the pre-2019 actuarial tables, be dropping like flies lately.
It’s the same pattern we’ve been seeing with wealthy 20-something world-class soccer stars, olympic swimmers, and the occasional NFL player on MNF.
We’re being gaslighted, we’ve been gaslighted until now, and we will continue to be gaslit as long as TPTB can get away with it. And probably even after it’s obvious to even Stevie Wonder, from space, that they’re lying their asses off.
Anything to avoid a general backlash that would make the French Revolution’s Reign Of Terror look like a church social by comparison.
Gotcha.
And I get the mistrust in anything said these days.
