After losing the football game yesterday putting the Tar Heel football team at 9-2 on the season, the Mens BB team currently ranked #1 defeated a pretty solid James Maddison team for JMU’s first loss of the season and are now 4-0.
To cap off the weekend, UNC, the University of National Champions, adds another national championship trophy to the trophy case as the girls as the 21 – 0 girls beat Northwestern in field hockey.
Good weekend for North Carolina fans.
Well, we decided to pair that with an opposite weekend:
Carolina lost to state in double overtime on the gridiron. Next up Clemson for the ACC championship. Clemson lost to the resurgent Gamecocks (SC) Saturday, 31-30. USC has one 2 straight games against top ten teams, Tennessee the week before.
Within about 15 minutes of the football loss, the basketball Heels went down to Iowa State out in Portland.
Basketball today has UNC playing #18 Alabama. Maybe we can salve the weekend a bit.
Girls soccer won their semi-final and play next week for the Nat Championship. After the girls Nat title in field hockey, they can make it two titles this fall for the Tar Heel girls.
Correction on that girls soccer “semi-final”. That should read quarter final. Semi Finals are next Friday.
By the way, the impartial* NCAA seeded #2 ranked NC as a second seed rather than a #1 seed. The team they beat in the QF’s was a #1 seed even though they were ranked behind Carolina.
Heels play the #1 ranked team Friday, FSU.
UNC girls beat Florida State 3-2 for a birth in the soccer finals awaiting the winner of the Alabama/UCLA game.
Well, I put up the good, so now for the bad. After the Iowa State loss for the men’s basketball team, we played Alabama on Sunday. That game went to four overtimes and in the 4th the red tide managed to score one more bucket than the Tar Heels.
With little turn around time after a 4 OT game, Carolina went to Indiana to play the 10th ranked Hoosiers tonight and were soundly beat. OTOH, as poorly as they played they were within striking distance until the very end. As I expected, they had no legs, and that seemed evident from the very first.
So, #1 loses 3 in a row and may drop out of the top 25.
But they will be back, and I think Indiana will be seen again.

RDS can end this and simply reiterate his promise not to run against Trump in 2024 and pledging his support for Trump 2024.
That.eojld.go a long way towards making him my frontrunner in 2028. I still will need to vet him further, but that would help.
Not going to happen unless the GOPe gives up on knocking Trump out of the primary, which they intend to do.
He’s not going to “end this” because he is part of the scam being perpetrated by the china owned GOPe. If it ends it will be because they have failed and no need to waste the monster, save him for another day.
Ever hear of DeSantis prior to Trump? No, of course not. He was an obscure Florida politician before Trump. He has spent his entire career as a government employee, beginning in the military as a lawyer. He’s never been in the private sector. He has the pedigree they like with Yale and Harvard. That alone should make ANYONE suspicious. How many decent Yale/Harvard grads are there after say, 1975?
I have always been suspicious, but it’s now as clear as glass – DeSantis is a GOPe engineered creation, 100%.
He’s OK on the local scene, as a governor. Nearly everything good about Florida existed prior to DeSantis going into politics. They have scripted it all for him, including the interaction with the press, something that changed when the GOPe got involved. They are giving him Trump like actions but he’ll sell your soul in a heartbeat. His has already been sold.
I’d like to see Trump get Paul on as VP and then run as president in 2028.
I should add, I’d be happy to find out I’m wrong. The evidence, the evidence, the evidence…
Prior to the GOPe I think he was a ambitious fellow and had the right ideas. I think that ambition led him to sell out. I’m not sure he even knows what he’s being set up for, ambition is sometimes blind.
I’d like to be able to say you’re wrong Barry, but I can’t see much evidence to the contrary. So until I see evidence to the contrary I have to see your scenario as the most probable.
He said he wouldn’t run in 2024 if Trump did. If be breaks that promise then the deal is done and he’s bought by the GOPe. Confirmation.
Which is why I say that only if he steps up now and repeats his promise can I ever even start to trust him.
