Had to start up another fundraising campaign over at GiveSendGo, further explained here. To wit:
Our problem now is, the well pump at my house failed about a month or so ago, and neither Jeff nor I have anything like enough money to fix it. Hence this most sincere plea for help. One by one, Jeff replaced the well pressure-bladder, the pump switch, and fixed a leak in the main water-feed pipe under the house. Well systems being the dead-simple little beasties they are, there’s nothing else left to explain the sudden loss of water pressure inside but a failed pump. Replacing it is a job Jeff doesn’t have the training, experience, or faith in his own good luck to attempt, so the decision has been made to bring in a well-repair company located just down the street from us for the project. Thanks for your kind consideration, everyone!
And there you have it, gang. I’ll probably either make this post sticky or put it over at the top of the right sidebar, dunno which. Not sure, either, what happens when you have two (2) sticky posts fighting for position up top; we’ll find out, I reckon.

Sorry, Mike, but I’m kind of broke at the moment. Not in danger of going hungry but two years of expenses being higher than income has done a number on my personal finances.
Compleeeeeeetely unrelated, but have you noticed that families sure do go through a lot of money? My income would be plenty to keep myself going and set some aside every month, if it were just me and my chickens. As it is, though, I’ve spent almost $100k above the essentials of food and housing and such, effectively none on myself. ($44 for a pair of shorts a couple months ago, a 3# jar of M&Ms to replace the previous one which last for several years, and the coffee I drink, which is technically not an essential expense but come on, coffee is an essential expense.) Everything else was for People Who Aren’t Me. A big chunk of that was medical expenses and pretty well unavoidable, but still, it adds up. And it would have been 10-20k higher if I weren’t handy at fixing cars and appliances and such. (A neighbor whose major appliances were the same age as ours — houses built at the same time — had to replace IIRC fridge, range, washer, dryer, and dishwasher because they’d stopped working. I think she said it was $8k total. I fixed all of ours and kept them going, for a few hundred in parts and however many hours of my time.)
Well, seeing StevF’s comment I clicked on the link and it appears you have gathered enough $$ to get water flowing again. I missed this originally, probably because I was out of town and busy and not really doing the interwebs thing.
Good Deal!
