If you had any doubt about whether the Left’s erstwhile rallying cry (and manufactured Jefferson quote) “dissent is the highest form of patriotism” was ever anything more than a self-serving bit of sloganeering, not worth the simple chronic halitosis they expelled to mewl it, wonder no more. This is what dissent in Obama’s New Soviet Socialist Republic of Amerika will get you:
An Oklahoma City police officer wrongly pulled over a man last week and confiscated an anti-President Barack Obama sign the man had on his vehicle.
Harrison said he later received a call from a person who said he was a lieutenant supervisor for the Internal Investigations Department and wanted to know his location and return his sign to him.
According to Harrison, the supervisor said the Secret Service had been contacted on the matter and had told them the sign was not a threat to the president.
…But his run-in with the law wasn’t over yet.
“The Secret Service called and said they were at my house,” Harrison said.
“When I was on my way there, the Secret Service called me and said they weren’t going to ransack my house or anything…they just wanted to (walk through the house) and make sure I wasn’t a part of any hate groups.”
Expect plenty more of this — and also expect not to hear one solitary peep from any of those once-ubiquitous liberal free-speech advocates, who only complain about stifling of dissent when the “threat” is imaginary, and there’s no real danger to their yellow hides at all.
Harrison said he feels his First Amendment rights were violated.
Oh, they most assuredly were. But in Obamerika, you have no rights, liberty is an illusion, and the Constitution but a fondly-remembered dream.
I ought to add here that the good Captain McCool’s response was perfectly reasonable and appropriate. But it’s little overreaches like this one that are the first steps down the dangerous road the Messiah’s liberal-fascist zealots wish us to tread.
