Am I dating myself with that archaic-slang “wack” deployment (noun: A person regarded as eccentric) in the title?
Ah well, be that as it may, the President’s Day Off edition of the Monday Eyrie thang is now up. It’s another brief one, but I think you’ll all enjoy the happy ending.
Yo, I lived in Queens for a while, not far from Gotti.
Whack was a verb and meant something quite different.
OH, you said Wack? Never Mind.
And where I grew up wack/whack meant to smack someone. in addition to Mike’s use.
We used Wacko for crazy and whack/wack for smacking someone.
I imagine the Mafia use of the word for a “hit” on someone came from the “smacking” sense of the word .
Then I think it’s the same here and there, just the additional mob reference. After thinking about I recall it being used to describe a mob hit.
