Annnticipaation
The disappointment among America-despising liberals is almost palpable — among those precious few not bitterly clinging to their vision of Americans as benighted, xenophobic savages, and simply refusing to accept the reality that their cherished anti-Muslim backlash hasn’t happened, isn’t about to, and was never remotely likely:
Nearly a week after the Fort Hood massacre, the anti- Muslim backlash that our leaders and some in the media feared remains a no-show.
No mobs of braying bigots marching on mosques; no calls for banning Muslims from the military; no anti-Muslim legislation being drafted in Congress or state capitals; no spate of attacks on Muslim students, shop owners, or neighborhoods.
What happened? What’s holding the angry, red-blooded vigilantes in check?
Why, if this keeps up, we might have to conclude that the United States is a remarkably fair-minded society as opposed to the cauldron of seething prejudice that many enlightened persons apparently perceive.
Nah, that just can’t be it. Far more likely that the right-wing media (ahem) is suppressing the evidence.
Perhaps their view explains why, after a jihadist incident of this kind, some feel compelled to treat Americans like youngsters who cannot be trusted to react appropriately to the truth — and so must be told a clipped or shaded version of it.
Well, that would certainly dovetail nicely with their determination that we’re not to be trusted with any decisions about how we live our lives, anyway.

The priest was lost in the Channel District and needed directions to Interstate 275, so he tapped a U.S. Marines reservist on the arm and, in a thick Greek accent, asked for help. That's how police say the incident began. But Lance Cpl. Jasen Bruce said the man, who was wearing a robe, sandals and a long beard, propositioned him in English and grabbed his genitals. Both versions of events end the same way – with the priest recovering from a beating with a tire iron, the Marine reservist under arrest and police investigating a possible hate crime. The Rev. Alexios Marakis, visiting from Greece, had performed a blessing of a retired Greek priest in the West Shore area before accidentally exiting I-275 into downtown Monday evening, police said. Marakis followed cars into the Seaport Channelside Apartments on Twiggs Street and got out to ask for help.
None of this means that liberals hate America, of course, or that liberals believe any of the things you claim they do, which is what it seems your main point was, but I thought this might be useful data.
C'mon, tp, you're usually better'n this. No decent person is in favor of an innocent man being beaten for the crime of getting lost, be he Muslim or anydamnedthing else you could name. But the PC folly of refusing to admit that there are a large number of Muslim extremists who wish us harm, and are perfectly wiling to bring it to our doorstep by any means they can, is going to have to stop. Because of it, the score for this month -- just this month, mind you -- still stands at Muslim fanatics 13, non-Muslims 0 -- your examples notwithstanding. And it ain't conservatives arguing for continued blind stupidity, leading inexorably to more American casualties both here and abroad. In fact, you just kinda backhandedly proved my point for me. How many more of us have to be murdered by these zealots before, as Gabriel says, liberals stop clinging "to their community-based reality, even when the truth is shooting us in the face?"
