Fox Business News is showing people trying to climb aboard the planes this morning.
I do find it amusing (in a dark humor sort of way) that even over the past day or so we are still hearing about plans to ‘evacuate’ US personnel from Afghanistan “within 72 hours.” Uh huh. 72 hours earlier might possibly have worked, although it would have been cutting it close. 72 hours later would be well after the Taliban have complete control of Kabul including its airport and air space.
As our host noted, the Biden crew is all on vacation, as is Congress. Just a couple days ago Pelosi apparently made some statement about the House leadership getting an intel briefing when they came back to DC on the 23rd. That gives a pretty clear picture of just how blindsided our national “leadership” was by the pace of events. They actually believed the intel agency estimates of 90 days for Kabul to fall. Suckers!
When was the last time our intel agencies actually got something right, anyway? Yeah, yeah, supposedly we never hear about all their successes, only the failures. But they sure seem to get all the big, publicized ones wrong, don’t they? And not just a little bit wrong, either.
The airport is shut. Our people are stranded there.
