By blowing me.
Soon after news broke that special counsel Robert Mueller found no Russia collusion, media types began offering their idea of an olive branch to President Trump. It generally came in the form of advice that he try to “heal” the nation.
One writer encouraged the president to give an Oval Office address in which he is “contrite, humble and authentic in tone” and use it to ask the public “for a new opportunity to be president of all Americans.”
Allow me to go out on a limb with a prediction: Hell will freeze over first. There might be an Oval Office speech, but it won’t be contrite and humble, nor should it be.
Trump is an innocent man who was outrageously framed by political enemies, including some in the Obama White House, the FBI and the Justice Department. Instead of begging forgiveness, he is entitled to feel just as Bill Clinton did after his many brushes with political death, that “whatever doesn’t kill me makes me stronger.”
Democrats and the media tried to kill Trump, and because they failed, he is in a stronger position than ever.
Not that he was a shrinking violet, but as a result we can expect to see an even more dominating, freewheeling Trump. His fiery, profanity-laced appearance at a raucous rally in Michigan illustrates that he views Mueller’s report as complete exoneration and that he is free to be even more Trumpian.
No surprise, he’s not inclined to follow the adage that revenge is a dish best served cold. He wants it now, even if it’s just rhetorical.
Who can blame him?
Try a test. Imagine that Mueller found Trump had indeed conspired with Russia to meddle in the 2016 election and obstructed the investigation. It would be a political bombshell and the move to impeach would be unstoppable.
Rep. Adam Schiff would be able to crow, “I told you so” and Hillary Clinton would claim to be the rightful president and maybe mount another run. Rachel Maddow would rule cable land and The New York Times would celebrate itself. Republicans would offer no resistance.
Facing the ignominy of being convicted by Congress and removed, Trump would be counseled to resign instead of putting the nation and his family through the meat grinder.
If he did resign, then what? A pardon from a President Pence would be unthinkable for such heinous fouls. Trump, out of the White House, would likely face a criminal trial, maybe more than one as prosecutors, federal and state, piled on like jackals to tear at his carcass.
Branded as a traitor, he might spend the rest of his life in prison.
Try an alternate test: imagine a nonpartisan, trustworthy FBI properly investigating Hillary!™ and her illegal unsecured server, with Her Herness and everyone who knew and kept mum about it indicted, up to and including Obama himself. Then imagine a closer look into the Benghazi clusterfuck, Fast and Furious, Uranium One, and the FISA approval of spying on Trump’s campaign, among so many other high crimes and misdemeanors perpetrated by the Obama junta during its agonizing reign of error. Then imagine the shitlib/Enemedia’s snooty dismissal of all that as nothing but a “witch hunt,” “no big deal,” the unconscionable “hounding” of an honest, honorable president strictly for political reasons. Oh, and “racism,” of course.
Another alternative, my own personal preference: imagine telling the Left entire, in no uncertain terms, to go take a flying fuck at a rolling donut at their earliest possible convenience.
The best thing Trump can do is give them space and time to expose the guilty. If there is any healing in America, it will come after clear evidence that he was the victim of a conspiracy that aimed to elect Clinton and then, after he won, to remove him on phony charges.
Actually, if there is to be “any healing in America,” it will come only after a significant percentage of the America-hating, neo-Marxist, treasonous, lying Left has been killed dead and buried, with the remnants too cowed by the sudden, forceful excision of their malignancy to do anything but shut their fucking yaps and tremble in fear.
As for Trump’s political capital, there will be temptations to go on a spending spree, but he and the country would best be served if he devoted himself anew to keeping his first campaign promise: fixing the broken border.
I recommend you embrace the healing power of “and” there, Michael; no reason Trump can’t do both, and none that he shouldn’tb. And since the Left—along with the rest of the Swamp Critter Coup Cabal—have shown not one atom of contrition themselves, “healing” and “contrite, humble and authentic in tone” should no way no how be on the agenda. Let Trump go right on blasting away at them, and reveling in it.
“A new opportunity to be president of all Americans”? Don’t make me laugh, you wretched Enemedia polyps. You’ve been wrong on absolutely everything, right down the line. You long ago established yourselves as in complete partisan alliance with the Democrat-Socialists, the propaganda wing of that criminal conspiracy misrepresenting itself as a legitimate political party. You and your comrades no longer accept the results of elections you don’t win, and you’ll certainly never accept this one. Now you expect to have your unsolicited “friendly advice” gratefully heeded by the people you can no longer be bothered to conceal your raw, unreasoning hatred for?
Yeah, NO. Fuck off and die, every last one of you. And your little dog, too.
Heal THAT shit, assholes.
Update! Francis sees right through ’em.
Mirabile dictu! The Fourth Estate wants to be allowed to slink quietly away from its major role – some would call it a starring role – in the attempted coup against a duly elected president. That president has compiled a record of astonishing achievements in only two years. Perhaps the “gentlemen of the press” anticipated President Trump’s run of successes; perhaps they only feared it; and perhaps they were, as has been the case for some time now, so deeply in bed with the Democrat Party that they were merely “following orders.” It doesn’t matter. The press co-conspired with some of the least trustworthy, most despicable persons ever to sit in federal offices. They partook in an attempt to reverse an election by fraudulent means – and they did so on the representation that Trump won the election by fraudulent means!
The ironies are simply too great to be captured. However, the perpetrators and their cat’s-paws are not. Some belong behind bars; others deserve to be bankrupted in slander and libel suits. Will any of that come about? We shall see. But we may be certain of one thing, at least: President Trump, a battler par excellence whose considerable and well-earned pride in his accomplishments has been deeply scored, will not “drop it,” nor should he.
My my, but he doesn’t seem any more amenable to “healing” than I am. Hopefully, Trump feels the same.
I still find it positively sidesplitting the way the whole sorry gang worked themselves into a case of the shivering fantods over Trump’s refusal to be pinned down on a guarantee to “accept the results of the election” back during the debates. Irony so thick you couldn’t penetrate it with a 500-terawatt laser, so rich and sweet and gooey that if you ate some it would give you a seizure, that’s what it is.
