That whetted my appetite for a rewatching of the opener, which in turn made me think of some other personal favorite scenes from the movie, which&#8230;well, you begin to get the idea. So, for the CF crew&#8217;s Friday-night viewing pleasure, a few of my favorite scenes from one of my all-time favorite flicks. Because I care, I&#8217;ll embed &#8217;em all below the fold so they don&#8217;t clutter up the main page.<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy, y&#8217;all.<!--more-->First, the opener.<br \/>\n<center><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WlnPzdAhcdM\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<\/center><\/p>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t mention it last night, but another wonderful thing about this movie is the gorgeous scenery, showed off in some really nice wide-angle camera work. <em>Silverado<\/em>&#8216;s musical score is a real treat as well, doing a most excellent job of setting the stage, heightening the drama, expressing the mood of each scene, without being overwrought or intrusive.<\/p>\n<p>Next up: how could anybody not fall in love with a Western that features John Cleese (!!) in the role of flint-eyed Sherriff Langston?<br \/>\n<center><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WlnPzdAhcdM\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<\/center><br \/>\nCleese has a bounty of great lines, the number of which is out of all proportion to the brevity of his part He reels &#8217;em all off with a bone-dry <em>\u00e9lan<\/em>. He provides a bit light-hearted fun amidst some pretty grim doin&#8217;s that is as refreshing as it is unexpected.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the brilliant Brian Dennehy again, demonstrating with style and finesse exactly how this acting thing is DONE&mdash;and making it look easy, as always.<br \/>\n<center><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Pus0yJlFW38\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<\/center><\/p>\n<p>Bet you never expected to see Kevin Kline playing a gunslingin&#8217;, card-sharkin&#8217;, rootin&#8217;-tootin&#8217;-shootin&#8217; cowboy badass, now did ya? Or not <em>convincingly<\/em>, anyway.<\/p>\n<p>And yet.<br \/>\n<center><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Dv6rmmAk_Es\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<\/center><br \/>\nI could do this all night, trust me.
