Fear is the mind-killer<\/a>. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It is instructive \u2013 it is vitally important \u2013 that we remember how truths about \u201cmasks\u201d and \u201cvaccines\u201d and the actual danger of \u201cthe virus\u201d were cat-called as \u201cmisinformation,\u201d \u201canti\u201d Science and, yes, \u201cdenialism.\u201d How those who dared to speak the truth were persecuted and punished \u2013 and still are (viz<\/em>, the recent punishing of Dr. Peter McCullough, the eminent cardiologist, for stating truths about \u201cthe virus\u201d and the \u201cvaccines\u201d).<\/p>\n

That is what comes of tolerating cat-calls in lieu of conversations, no matter how uncomfortable those conversations may be. No matter how wrong some people may be, sometimes.<\/p>\n

If a person\u00a0is<\/em>\u00a0antagonistic toward a group of people on account of race or religion or some other such non-specific attribute, that will become clear enough soon enough \u2013 and that person\u2019s arguments or statements can be picked apart on the basis of sloppiness, inaccuracy and disingenuousness (after a pattern has been established, after it becomes clear that contrary facts aren\u2019t acknowledged and the person\u2019s arguments and statements change to reflect the chastening effect of truth). That person\u2019s statements and arguments can then be dismissed as\u00a0wrong<\/em>, without resorting to cat-calling.<\/p>\n

It is\u00a0easy<\/em>\u00a0to cat-call the arguments and statements of those you disagree with \u2013 and even easier, if you dislike them, personally.<\/p>\n

With good reason.<\/p>\n

It is very easy, for example, to dislike the person of someone as personally loathsome as Dr. Fauci \u2013 or the CEO of Pfizer, Anthony Bourla. But it is also easy to deflect and dismiss \u2013 and even pathologize \u2013 any questioning of their actions, their views, their policies, as being \u201canti\u201d \u2013 including, in the case of Bourla, \u2013 \u201csemitic\u201d as\u00a0simply<\/em> (exactly the right modifier) motivated by dislike of them personally, or on account of their race or religion. And that \u2013 if accepted as argument-ending before there is an argument \u2013 confers upon their actions, their views and their policies a kind of blanket immunity from being questioned or criticized.<\/p>\n

Well, a free society cannot exist without questioning and criticism, whether right or wrong and however uncomfortable certain topics may make some people\u00a0feel<\/em>. A free society requires people who can think \u2013 and aren\u2019t cat-called for doing so. Even when what they think \u2013 and say \u2013\u00a0is<\/em>\u00a0racist or anti-Semitic. Not placed in air-fingers quote marks because it is a fact that there are such people.<\/p>\n

But there are also worse people.<\/p>\n

They are the people who use those terms to cat-call people who aren\u2019t those things but who make statements or raise questions they\u2019d rather not address, often because they are true and the truth can be very threatening, to falsehood. We\u2019ve had an object lesson about that over the course of the past almost three years now. The lies told us about \u201cthe virus,\u201d which were used to further worse lies about \u201cmasks\u201d \u2013 and then on to \u201cvaccines\u201d \u2013 which nearly led to\u00a0camps<\/em>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0show us what happens when such lies are protected by accusing those who dare to question them as being \u201canti,\u201d as being \u201cdeniers.\u201d<\/p>\n

And there is still the road ahead of us, with a fork in it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
