Monday\u2019s Substackery\u2014The power of narrative<\/strong><\/a>\u2014is now live. It covers one of the most remarkable pieces I\u2019ve ever had the distinct pleasure of reading, truly, which presents a quite astute theory on why we are where we now are, and how we got here. A damned<\/em> tough one to excerpt, it really is that good. There\u2019s also some extry commentary from li\u2019l ol\u2019 moi<\/em>\u00a0included therein, of which I\u2019ll provide a smidge for general edification and amusement purposes:<\/p>\n

This is one hell of a fascinating piece, presenting an argument that never once occurred to me before. The author goes on from there to provide even more support for it, all of which is quite convincing. If he\u2019s right on this, and I for one think he is, it explains\u2026well, damned near everything. The only real flaw I can see is that it suggests an intelligence and a patient, sure-handed competence on the part of the Left that is absolutely nowhere else in evidence, undermining certain assumptions about them we\u2019ve all been making for years.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, though, they have<\/em> managed to take over America That Was entire\u2014gradually, bit by bit, piece by piece\u2014without ever a shot needing to be fired, or not very many of them, and those few only in recent years. Which is a genuinely alarming prospect in and of itself: if they really ARE this smart, then we\u2019re probably all doomed and should give up and sue for mercy, before it\u2019s too late.<\/p>\n

If there ever was a case where I mean every word of it when I say you really MUST read all of it, it would have to be this one. Happily enough, the piece is a long \u2018un, so there\u2019s plenty more left from there; actually, I haven\u2019t quite finished it yet myself, but was moved enough when I got around two-thirds in to take time out and write this post. It\u2019s wide-ranging\u2014up to and including a Biblical reference in support of the central thesis, with direct textual quotes\u2014well-written and -reasoned, compelling, and legitimately brilliant throughout. So don\u2019t make me say it again, people. Believe me, you won\u2019t be sorry.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
