Welcome to this week’s installment of our Wednesday (except on those occasions when I completely lose track of what day it is and end up running it on Thursday, not that that ever happens—a-HEM!) meme feature, folks. Links to the “found via” sources will be attached to the specific MiQ’s (Memes in Question) whenever I can remember them, which likely won’t be very often. Only the first two memes will appear above the fold to save on bandwidth usage, since I assume not everybody who shows up at this here websty will want to see all of them. This intro will appear at the top of each week’s Memezapoppin’! post. Enjoy, funny-pitcher lovers.
That 99.9% survival rate is even starker when you consider the various odds.
Almost no one under 30 without a compromised immune system (cancer, etc) died. They had a 100% survival rate. 30-60 and healthy? Probably 99.99999%.
60 and over and healthy 99.99%.
Average age of death was 79 and most had comorbidities. Which is what actually killed you, not the virus.
Actually, deaths of healthy people who died FROM WuFlu was rare.
The biggest killer was when they shoved a ventilator down your throat, which is almost never used in the real world on healthy people. But I’m sure some drama queens got ventilated and good.
The truth
1) The death rate varied between 0.6% and 2.9%, across the age range.
More were older and sicker, but no one’s demographic had a “99.9% survival rate” anytime in the first year. That’s simply counter-factual. When you start dragging in weaker and weaker strains and re-infections, of progressively less-virulent strains of the virus, you might get to 99.9%. It was not the case at any pint until about March of 2021, a year into the pandemic.
2) Co-morbidities never killed anyone. People that don’t understand that shouldn’t talk about them. If they killed people, they’d be called “morbidities”. English is funny like that. What co-morbidities do is rob your body of the strength and resilience to survive what would be otherwise survivable to fully healthy people. But those co-morbidities didn’t low-crawl up anyone’s driveway at 3AM and butt-fuck them to death. COVID killed people who would have lived for decades with those co-morbidities if they’d lived without getting COVID. Just like getting stabbed in the heart kills people, even though it works faster on people taking aspirin or anti-coagulants for Afib or prior strokes.
3) Deaths of people who died with WuFlu were killed by WuFlu in 99.9% of cases. That’s how drowning in COVID-pneumonia fluids in your lungs works.
4) Ventilators killed no one. You only get put on a ventilator in the first place when not doing so will lead to your death in about 10 minutes. What killed them was the same Covid-pneumonia-induced hypoxia. What ventilators did is take people who would have died canned-tuna-dead in 10 minutes, and keep them “alive” for another week or two. Just like it does in heart attacks, strokes, etc., a million times a year. I only see it about once a week to once a month since ever. If you’re ever on a ventilator, you’re already in God’s Waiting Room, and in emergent cases, your chances of talking with Jesus inside a week are about 80%. Ventilators’ main purpose is to delay that meeting to give other things a chance to work. People who rate getting put on a ventilator, and aren’t go by the marvelously descriptive name of “corpses”.
Most lay-people are too bag-of-hammers stupid (and in far too much denial, on the day) to recognize that reality when it’s their relative, but there it is.
