Secret Service says it’s appalled by DEI rhetoric against female agents after Trump rally shooting
Saturday’s shooting is the latest instance of right-leaning social media accounts trying to link diversity, equity and inclusion programs to deeply troubling news events.The U.S. Secret Service said Wednesday that it stood by its female agents and was appalled by some of the criticism they’ve received on conservative social media since Saturday’s attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.
The Secret Service, in a statement to NBC News, said that the criticism from pundits and influencers was baseless. The agency also stood by its commitment to diversity in recruiting as helping, not hurting, the effectiveness of its protective teams.
The statement follows a multiday campaign of derision by some conservatives who accused Kimberly Cheatle, the Secret Service director, of being unqualified and who said that female agents assigned to Trump hadn’t been physically capable of protecting him. Some critics said the Secret Service should return to being all-male, which it hasn’t been since 1970.
Anthony Guglielmi, the Secret Service’s chief of communication, said in the statement: “We stand united against any attempt to discredit our personnel and their invaluable contributions to our mission and are appalled by the disparaging and disgusting comments against any of our personnel.”
“As an elite law enforcement agency, all of our agents and officers are highly trained and fully capable of performing our missions,” he said.
Trump was wounded in his right ear at Saturday’s chaotic rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. An attendee was killed trying to protect his family, and another two were seriously injured.
Yep, sure sounds like a two-thumbs-up Mission Accomplished to me, gals.

I’d like to give Aesop credit for brilliance, and that he may be.
OTOH, the fact that the mentally ill incompetent 20 year old had to be directed to the rooftop is so glaringly obvious that even a security neophyte like me can see it. It is simply true that the mentally ill incompetent 20 year old could not have acted alone. There was a conspiracy within our own government to take Trump out. It will be hid behind multiple layers and cutouts, probably impossible to prove.

The latest though is that he had 3 “offshore” “encrypted” email accounts, and had preprogrammed a drone to fly over the site and scope it out and return info to him.
In the last 48 hours he’s gone from a 20 year old dorky loner incompetent Ree Tardy Oswald to James Bond’s second cousin twice removed who learned about the spy biz from James in a weekend at Biarritz they spent together last year. Just so he could call in sick from the Hospice where he delivered meals and be back to work on Sunday. Best laid plans and all that…
I am calling it right now. He will be labelled a Russian Asset within 24-48 hours from now. Or maybe they’ll get creative and name Iran this time. Hell, why not just call him Mossad…

So Proton collects and logs metadata – the headers on your email which disclose the route from sender to recipient – you can see this yourself if you look at the message in “raw” format. The message body itself may be encrypted, but if any kind of backup files are kept – or if the messages traverse a node controlled by NSA or cooperating company or agency – the message body could be archived along with its metadata and then decrypted by NSA.
