Memezapoppin’!

Welcome to this week’s installment of our Wednesday meme feature, folks. Links to the “found via” sources will be attached to the specific MiQ’s (Memes in Question) whenever I can remember them, which likely won’t be very often. Only the first two memes will appear above the fold to save on bandwidth usage, since I assume not everybody who shows up at this here websty will want to see all of them. This intro will appear at the top of each week’s Memezapoppin’! post. Enjoy, funny pitcher-lovers.

  1. Ever since Georgia’s state flag that had the stars and bars that was a mixture of Georgia and Virginias’s battle flags with the GA state seal thrown in from the war of Northern Aggression. A few iteration for the GA flag came and went. The current GA flag is the Georgia Battle Flag with the GA state seal thrown in the blue banner. The liberals do no know history or they would go apeshit to have the flag changed.

  2. Just for fun, I thought I’d look up the stats on black airline pilots, because I can’t recall having met even one – and here they are: “African-Americans have consistently been disproportionately outnumbered in the aviation and aerospace industries throughout American history. According to service data provided to FLYING, of the 14,000 active duty pilots in the US Air Force, only 2 percent of them identify as Black. In 2020, 94 percent of the American aircraft pilots identified as white, with only 5.6 percent being women and less than one percent being Black women. … A 2020 review released by the Department of the Air Force (DAF) Inspector General revealed many racial disparities between Black pilots and their white counterparts. The report showed that Black Air Force members were 72 percent more likely to receive Uniform Code of Military Justice, Article 15, non-judicial punishment. This disciplinary action can include extra duties, confinement, arrest in quarters, or forfeiture of pay for incidents of minor misconduct. Black servicemen were also 52 percent more likely to face courts-martial than white members.” https://travelnoire.com/black-pilots-bring-diversity-culture-to-the-aviation-industry

Intelligence might be a factor: “For one thing, they’re all college graduates, with an average IQ of 124 (vs. 98 for the general population). They’ve had to “successfully overcome physical, behavioral, emotional, and academic hurdles.” Pilots work in a field that demands focus and self-confidence, and people with personality disorders are selected out. Surveys also show that successful military pilots have “exceptional consistency of background and better than average social and socioeconomic conditions when growing up.”” https://www.smithsonianmag.com/air-space-magazine/whos-depressed-not-military-pilots-115099111/

    1. This could be down to a difference in subcultures: “American blacks, it says, “come from a cognitively restricted subculture”. This is hugely sensitive territory because, while it may be good to say genes don’t make people stupid, it isn’t so good to tell anyone their way of life does. Flynn, however, makes no apologies. “It’s whites, not blacks, who complain,” he says. “Blacks know the score. Facts are facts.” On recorded IQ tests, he says, African Americans have persistently lagged behind most other ethnicities in America (including, according to some commentators, black immigrants from, for example, the Caribbean) and this cannot be explained by the Flynn effect since, as he puts it, “blacks don’t live in a time warp”.

He then tells what sounds like a version of those dodgy jokes about the Irishman, the Scotsman and the Englishman. Except this isn’t a joke. “Go to the American suburbs one evening,” says Flynn, “and find three professors. The Chinese professor’s kids immediately do their homework. The Jewish professor’s kids have to be yelled at. The black professor says: ‘Why don’t we go out and shoot a few baskets?’”

As I emit a liberal gasp, he continues: “The parenting is worse in black homes, even when you equate them for socio-economic status. In the late 1970s, an experiment took 46 black adoptees and gave half to black professional families and half to white professionals with all the mothers having 16 years of education. When their IQs were tested at eight-and-a-half, the white-raised kids were 13.5 IQ points ahead. The mothers were asked to do problem-solving with their children. Universally, the blacks were impatient, the whites encouraging. Immediate achievement is rewarded in black subculture but not long-term achievement where you have to forgo immediate gratification.”

He tells me of research showing that “when American troops occupied Germany at the end of the second world war, black soldiers left behind half-black children and white soldiers left behind all-white. By 11, the two groups had identical average IQs. In Germany, there was no black subculture.” https://www.theguardian.com/education/2016/sep/27/james-flynn-race-iq-myths-does-your-family-make-you-smarter

      1. Most of the research in these area’s is just pure BS and meaningless. Real world results always tell the story and that story exists regardless of the reasons for any racial disparity. Affirmative action will not keep your car running, nor will it keep your plane flying, and it damn sure will not prepare one for the existential emergency that is always one moment away in any aircraft.

Plop me down in the middle of Africa and I’ll pick the “low IQ” African bushman as my guide over any fighter pilot in the US armed forces. Who and how IQ is measured may just render IQ as we measure it as a failure. OTOH, real world results suggest there is a difference across race and culture. 3/4 of the 1.5 billion chinese are probably the equal of the average African, but those are not the ones that get “measured”. We “measure” the ones that are selected for the measurement.

    2. “because I can’t recall having met even one”

You need to fly in 3rd world airlines to get away from the competent American/British/German/French/Australian/Other Western airline pilots. Even the Middle Easterners have enough sense to hire western pilots for their state airlines.

I’ve flown with crazy people of color in places like Mexico, Bangladesh, Colombia, Venezuela, China, and India among others. I can tell some good stories about the incompetent bastards but I’m not that fond of typing.

  3. It’s DIE and there’s a reason they didn’t want it abbreviated that way. Too much Truth In Advertising.

Should you find yourself sanctioned after running afoul of the CF comments policy as stated and feel you have been wronged, please download and complete the Butthurt Report form below in quadruplicate; retain one copy for your personal records and send the others to the email address posted in the right sidebar.

Please refrain from whining, sniveling, and/or bursting into tears and waving your chubby fists around in frustrated rage, lest you suffer an aneurysm or stroke unnecessarily. Your completed form will be reviewed and your complaint addressed whenever management feels like getting around to it. Thank you.
