My guess is they’re going to use “AI” as a pretext.
They’ll say “We don’t directly censor these topics. The AI ‘learns’ over time what is and isn’t misinformation and then censors them appropriately. You can’t blame Google for that. We don’t take any action at all. It’s Science!”
The problem with that is that Artificial Intelligence is all Artificial and No Intelligence. Garbage In, Garbage Out. It only does what it is coded to do. So if there is a threshold of “articles” calling something “misinformation” that is met, it is programmed to label that as ‘misinformation’. From there it is very easy for the Media to game the program. Just write massive amounts of articles, “news stories”, opinion pieces, etc to overload the filed and then have those show up as the top in any search. The “AI” will meet the threshold in no time and will be programmed to stop further searches a little beyond that.
Voila. Misinformation!
Artificial Intelligence has no Intelligence. This sudden push to make it SEEM like it’s as smart as, and smarter than, a human has to have an ulterior motive. I think part of it is for this reason. To eliminate the human interface into the search engine censorships for plausible deniability. No more evidence of government telling them what to censor directly tied to the censorship. As an aside government can tell them what it is they want labeled as “misinformation” just by writing an article posted at a “third party” signalling site.
For instance. WaPo. NY Times.
For instance, on Ukraine, simply read ISW every morning and you’ll be told what the Narrative should be. Then a thousand web sites simply grab an AP story or ISW as the ‘source’ and Voila, the thousand articles labeling serves to trigger the AI censors.
