As goes the rest of the FUSA military, so go the Marines.
Hi @USMC. My dad will be 100 yrs old on 2/24. A Marine during WWII. 5 assault landings. We’d love it if a uniformed Marine came for a visit – say “HI” to him. Few WWII Marines are left alive. Sent a message thru the Marine Corp portal.
They blew me off.

Disgusting. But it’s probably just as well, I suppose; if today’s Marine Corps had deigned this vet worthy of a visit from one of their own, they’d have undoubtedly sent along a Jarhead in his prettiest black cocktail dress and spiked heels, in full make-up. If Mr Thompson’s poor dad didn’t stroke out right away from the sheer horror of it, being confronted by what Wokester pissants have done to his beloved Corps would have put him on a rage-high that would last for the rest of his days. I’m with Billy:
In TOTAL there were only 589,852 MARINES to serve in WW2.
16 Million Americans served in uniform
Only a little over 500k were Marines
That means this gentleman is one of a very few surviving Devil Dogs Left
Shame on the Marines for blowing this guy off.
Fucking the local Jarheads -should- have a fucking parade for him…
WTF ever happened to “Semper Fidelis?”
Always Faithful my ass.
Indeed. I repeat: Disgusting. Disgraceful. Reprehensible. And truly, truly sad.
My sincere apologies as a Heritage America to you, Mr Thompson, sir. May you have a happy 100th birthday anyway, despite this unconscionable PC insult to your bravery, your legacy, and your personal honor. Always remember, though: Illegitimi non carborundum. Otherwise, they win. And that, they must never, EVER be permitted to do.
Well, we share a birthday. Pretty damn pathetic that the Marines can’t even acknowledge a 100 year old WW2 Marine veteran. I think I’ll find the local recruiter and pass this along. I bet at that level they’ll feel some embarrassment.
No email listed. I guess I’ll just call them.
OK, just read the actual tweet and it looks like the gentleman is contacting the local recruiting office in the town, so that will work I think.
You’re a February baby too, Barry? How ’bout that; mine is on Sunday, my mom’s is the 12th, and my cousin the BP’s drummer’s is on the 24th also. We oughta form a club or a platoon or something. Or, at my advanced age, a sewing circle, more like.
Yep Mike, since 1953 🙂
The big 7-0 this year. Still ticking, still kicking.
February is the better month for babies to be born. It’s the hi IQ, good looks, and amiable personality month.
Well, 1 out of 3, maybe…
Happy Birthday Mike!
Happy Birthday Dude.
We are not worthy…
Throwing the BULLSHIT flag at this crybaby. At his head.
If he’s got actual contact information, post it.
The Marine PR wing would get wind of this, and organize a fucking F-18 flyover and full dress parade right to his damned door, and his dad would be fucking inundated with so many Marine vets living nearby who’d drop in he’d need to hire the local PD for crowd control. If he posted a P.O. or PMB address, the USPS would have to hire additional shifts to deliver the metric fuckton of birthday cards his dad would get.
I triple-dog dare him to come forth with more than his whinging, and see what happens.
And I’ll put cash money up on the outcome.
“blew him off”? I repeat, BULLSHIT, gold-plated, and first class, and he’s talking right out of his ass.
I bet he runs and hides, rather than eat the Godzilla-sized shitburger he’s going to have coming when he has to apologize.
I bet I could make three phone calls and have every USMC retiree within 100 miles of his house on his front porch three weeks from yesterday, just for the asking.
What it says is he sent a message through the Marine Corp portal. That may well not have elicited a response. If you click on the tweet embedded you’ll see that tons of people weighed in to tell him how to elicit a response.
Anyone that read that little nugget and is a Marine should have responded at any level.
I’d like to see an F-18 flyover though, along with a visit from a current serving general.
Noted.
I hope his son is as quick to apologize, and report on the actual response, as he was to wet his diapers the first time.
And for my money, 100 years old, and 5 WWII combat landings? Dude deserves at least the flyover and parade. Serving general? The Commandant himself should make a housecall, with the Marine Band.
Just to make the point.
“Thank you for your service” doesn’t quite cut it with some vets.
Agreed. And I’m quite sure he’ll get an appropriate response when the right people get the news.
I’m not sure how to check for updates. I don’t use twitter nor typically read it.
