Addressing the biggest issue of all

The Republic of Florida, anyone?

The Right Scoop has the, um, right of it:

This is how you fight back. Not only did he ban the ridiculous CRT curriculum from the classrooms, he’s now mandating that high school students learn the evils of these anti-American ideologies that people escape from to come here. This is brilliant. And as an added bonus, this will no doubt drive the left insane.

I’m having a really tough time finding something not to like here, frankly. And with each successive perfect move America’s Gov makes, I’m also hoping that he does NOT attempt a run for President, in 2024 or any other year. We need this man right where he is—he fights.

  1. Sure would be nice if they would identify all the Jews who helped the Goyim avoid Lenin’s and Stalin’s gulags. But that sure ain’t gonna happen now, is it? Schindler’s list only works ONE way…

      1. So he signed it, and it remains in effect, because some one else’s dog ate his homework?

Call me when he makes an issue out of it, and refuses to sign it until they remove the offending section.

Which, obviously, wasn’t this time around.

I won’t be holding my breath.

        1. You’re confusing the existing law with the amendment.
Yes if the legislature had removed that section it would have been a better bill. But the legislation that was signed was an improvement.

The way that the process works is that the legislature proposes changes to the bill and the Governor signs or veteos it.

Yes he could have vetoed the bill because it didn’t remove that section, but had he done so the offensive section would have remained and the sections of the bill which give added protection would not have been enacted.

Not so much as the dog eating his homework as to cutting off his nose to spite his face.

Because the legislative session had ended the bill wouldn’t be able to be amended, and couldn’t be until next year.

        2. You were just flat out wrong in your assertion. Might just want to try being a man and admit you fucked up.

    1. That vaccinate or be quarantined section of the law jas been in effect for.decades. Who ever started it doesn’t have a clue about how the Florida legislature operates, when they change a statute they reprint the entire stat ute in the bill, underline the additional language and cross out any text that they are deleting.
The section you are referring to was not underlined so it has nothing to do with current legislation

    2. Here’s the pre-existing statutory language, from 1998, which gives plenary power to the Public Health Officer:

"4. Ordering an individual to be examined, tested,
1098 vaccinated, treated, isolated, or quarantined for communicable
1099 diseases that have significant morbidity or mortality and
1100 present a severe danger to public health. Individuals who are
1101 unable or unwilling to be examined, tested, vaccinated, or
1102 treated for reasons of health, religion, or conscience may be
1103 subjected to isolation or quarantine.
1104 a. Examination, testing, vaccination, or treatment may be
1105 performed by any qualified person authorized by the State Health
       1106 Officer.
1107 b. If the individual poses a danger to the public health,
1108 the State Health Officer may subject the individual to isolation
1109 or quarantine. If there is no practical method to isolate or
1110 quarantine the individual, the State Health Officer may use any
1111 means necessary to vaccinate or treat the individual.
1112 c. Any order of the State Health Officer given to
1113 effectuate this paragraph is shall be immediately enforceable by
       1114 a law enforcement officer under s. 381.0012. https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2021/2006/BillText/er/HTML

Additions in green type, and deletions in red and struck through, and this is the final engrossed form of the bill

      1. After this debacle, I’d bet that a significant part of the population would want to see the government out of the public health business, especially after those who have taken the kill shot have died off…

      2. Instead of blaming lying Lawton Chiles they are blaming Gov. DeSantis, maybe he took time off from the Yale baseball team and forced Chiles to sign the bill, or maybe time traveling DeSantis went back and did so.

        1. or maybe time traveling DeSantis went back and did so.

That makes more sense than anything else. As a Republican he’s automatically LiterallyHitler, and we already knew that Hitler was a time-traveller because if he wasn’t then there’s no way that he wouldn’t have been assassinated as a baby by all of the other time travellers. QED

          1. His contemporaries kept trying to assassinate him, and kept failing.

How could they keep failing over and over again if Time Traveling Hitler wasn’t going back over and over again and sabotaging them? Huh?

              1. If I ever start a retro Grunge Metal band, I’m going to call it “Time Traveling Hitler”.

                1. How about “Hitler in Time”? “In time” can be taken about four different ways.

                  1. Hey, there’s room in this for at least two retro Grunge Metal bands. You call yours Hitler in Time, and I’ll call mine Time Traveling Hitlers, and we can swap turns opening for each other.

                    1. Next schedule appearance: October 21, 1985, in Hill Valley California. Go to the Clocktower Show.
                      Or not. Time will tell.

    3. Shouldn’t you still be cowering at home, wearing three masks, and calling those who want to live life “Gilligans?”

      Run along now.

  2. It’s almost like some of the smarter folks are finally realizing that it’s not enough to just play defense; that you’ve gotta take back lost ground, and then keep on going. Gain new territory.

This battle isn’t over until we push the enemy into the sea, figuratively or literally, as the circumstance may dictate. Thankfully, in a literal circumstance, many of them are already located close by. Oh… and always, Always, ALWAYS…  add a little chum first. It’s been earned.

If you are in fact a legit hooman bean desirous of registering yourself a CF user name so as to be able to comment only to find yourself caught up as collateral damage in one of my irregularly (un)scheduled sweeps for hinky registration attempts, please shoot me a kite at the email addy over in the right sidebar and let me know so’s I can get ya fixed up manually.

ALSO NOTE: You MUST use a valid, legit email address in order to successfully register, the new anti-spam software I installed last night requires it. My thanks to Barry for all his help sorting this mess out last night.

Comments appear entirely at the whim of the guy who pays the bills for this site and may be deleted, ridiculed, maliciously edited for purposes of mockery, or otherwise pissed over as he in his capricious fancy sees fit. The CF comments section is pretty free-form and rough and tumble; tolerance level for rowdiness and misbehavior is fairly high here, but is NOT without limit.

Management is under no obligation whatever to allow the comments section to be taken over and ruined by trolls, Leftists, and/or other oxygen thieves, and will take any measures deemed necessary to prevent such. Conduct yourself with the merest modicum of decorum, courtesy, and respect and you'll be fine. Pick pointless squabbles with other commenters, fling provocative personal insults, issue threats, or annoy the host (me) and...you won't.

Should you find yourself sanctioned after running afoul of the CF comments policy as stated and feel you have been wronged, please download and complete the Butthurt Report form below in quadruplicate; retain one copy for your personal records and send the others to the email address posted in the right sidebar.

Please refrain from whining, sniveling, and/or bursting into tears and waving your chubby fists around in frustrated rage, lest you suffer an aneurysm or stroke unnecessarily. Your completed form will be reviewed and your complaint addressed whenever management feels like getting around to it. Thank you.
