  1. The feed of Trump Tweets at the sidebar of Cold Fury is not there Mike. Is it an external problem or did you end it?

  2. “Hearing people complain that they only have basic cable and one cell phone makes me laugh.”

The cry of the wealthy, “I don’t have enough”.

    From the old Off Topic.
Barry, I can remember being in High School and we were going to do a Saturday morning workout early. Most of the kids were “awwwww I’ll never wake up that early” The coach told us to write down our phone numbers and he would give each one of us a wake up call. One of the kids who was black wasn’t writing down his number. The coach told him, “I’ll call you too”. He kept hemming and hawing. Finally he sheepishly told us “We don’t have a phone in my house”.
The coach promised to go to the kid’s house first and wait for him to get ready. Of course when coach got there the kid was outside waiting.

He wasn’t even that poor by standards of the day.

    1. Hey, visiting my paternal grandmother was always a treat. NC mountains, lots of land to hike and hunt over, chickens to chase, mules to ride, country hams hanging in the curing cellar.

We went to visit every 2-3 weeks and would spend the night. In the summers I would go and stay for 1-2 weeks at least once.

My grandmothers house was 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, and a den. Built by my grandfather. There were no bathrooms, there was an outhouse. There was no running water, there was a well and buckets to fetch the water. 14 children were raised in that home and not a one felt poor. I never thought of them as poor. Some of those children would become wealthy, wealth exceeding a million. Even during the depression they didn’t feel impoverished.

  3. Meanwhile while no one was paying attention the Country LOST 140,000 JOBS.

The Dementia Man era is side getting off to a rip roaring start!!

Don’t forget to wear your mask on the Unemployment Lines!

    1. It will be like the Obama years, kennycan: all economic problems will be blamed on the previous president, for at least 5 years running, while any success (however tiny) is credited to the Glorious Leader.

    1. Amazing actually. I mean, they tried to kill him. Yet being in power means more to him.

      1. Heh. Yeah. Man, if any more “Republicans” tear their masks off, we’re going to have to get a bigger comment section to list them all.

Meanwhile, yesterday Glenn posted yet another installation of “Let’s point out the Left’s hipocrisy! This time it’ll work, honest!” about a Bernie Bro who plotted to assassinate Biden.

And I’m looking at it thinking, “Bernie Pro assassinates Biden. Am I supposed to condemn this guy or cheer him?”

I went with “cheer him”. If I were posting to Fark.com, I’d give him a HERO! tag. 🙂

        1. If a Bernie Bro took out Biden, the folks pulling Harris’ strings would thank him for saving them the trouble while high fiving each other.

As for pointing out leftist hypocrisy, yeah, if that worked the left would have been destroyed ages ago. But some professions (lawyers and media and politicians all among them) are mostly about manipulating words, and there is a tendency for such people to believe that the words determine the reality. They change the words, and that changes the world. If events move in the direction that seems increasingly likely, words (and the people who work with them) are going to matter a whole lot less.

          1. It all breaks sideways, words will still matter – but it won’t be the Reynolds and the Driscolls writing or saying the ones that do.

It’ll be the words of people like Razorfist.

Keep an eye on that boy. That’s one of the upcoming leaders of the future hard Right once us old wolves are dead or muzzled.

            1. A good point, IB. So far it has mostly been the left hat has gotten radicalized, at least as far as people with any actual power are concerned. But there will be more folks on the right getting radical as events continue. I think of Civil War history and the rise of the ‘fire eaters’ (among the secessionists) and the radical abolitionists (among the north) during the 1850s. Both sides got more extreme.

Despite the left/media attempts to portray Trump and his supporters as extreme, a true radical right has not really developed. Trump is a moderate in almost all ways. What follows him will likely be much less centrist.

  4. Alrighty, I’ve decided:

I’m just not impressed with the 30 Day Free Trial version of 2021.1.0, and I want to uninstall it and go back to Version 2020.

  5. Isn’t it slightly strange that President Trump will take a stroll along the Border with Mexico tomorrow.

At any other time this would just be another day, another event.

These are not normal times though, so Normal Events seem out of place somehow.

    1. Yea, it’s all just weird. Why bother unless either you’re going to be president for the next 4, or

maybe he’s just decided to act normal until the day it’s done.

      Beats me.

      1. If he does, won’t this be the first actual and verifiable public appearance that Trump has made since he left the stage on the 6th?

  6. Almost forgot: somebody had asked in a previous thread about the missing Trump Twitter feed; when they dumped Trump, I dumped them. I saw somewhere or other that they reinstated him, don’t know A) whether it’s so or not, and B) how much I really care at this point anhyway. I mean, just, y’know, fuck them. I’m in the process of scrubbing and then deleting my old Fakebook page even now, not that I ever used it much anyway. I haven’t even looked at the musty old thing in a cpl-three years, because fuck them too.

    1. That was me. Yeah it makes sense. They’re never going to let us see anything important even if he does tweet it. I would imagine they have several people tasked with staying glued to that feed just in case.

I just wondered if it were you who turned it off or them. Glad it was you.

  7. It’s impossible to find out anything on the news. Does anyone know if President Trump is in fact going to the Mexican Border today?

      1. Thanks guys that’s a help.

Besides Right Side anyone know if someone else will cover the 3pm speech?

  8. He spoke to the press pool a little bit ago before getting on Air Force One bound for Texas. So he is still alive and in the country.

  9. I’ve noted often that I think the notion of Trump crossing the rubicon is baseless even though I wish it were true. Analyze the data that gives you such hopes.

It’s quite possible it is all disinformation by the other side to have you end up feeling betrayed by the president when he leaves office peacefully.

While I continue to hope for something more, I’m a realist and it seems unlikely.

Shall it come to pass the corrupt and dopey biden inhabits the WH for a period I will simply give thanks to Donald Trump for giving it his all and being the best president in history after the first one. He did all this practically 100% on his own. He had little help but save a few courageous men. That is how he should be remembered. His failure, such that it is, is ours and ours alone.

      1. If Trump crosses the Rubicon he will pass George Washington for first place and it will not even be close.

  10. I PREDICT IT WILL: “If Global Corporations Walk Away from Republicans the GOP Will Have to Listen to New Voters.” – Glenn Reynolds

Shit in one hand, Glenn, predict in the other, squeeze and see which one comes true.

If the Cuck fits, wear it.

    1. In the end Lawyers hold allegiances to The Law, however corrupted it may have become, and not to Country or Countrymen.

He learned himself real well at Yale.

Someone will literally have to shoot AT Glenn for his “libertarian principles” to kick in and he can shoot back. No INITIATING Violence, you Deplorable ne’er do wells!

In the end Libertarians retreat into “I got mine, and I will defend me and mine, and the rest of you are on your own”.

  11. Heh. Malicious compliance:

So, I had my every six months visit to my PCP today down at Alliance Health. So I saddled up, drove down, put on my mesh paintball mask, hooked my Plague Doctor Mask to my belt, and headed on in.

At the reception desk, no one even blinked. They just checked me in and said, “Have a seat and they’ll call you in a minute.”

I did and they did, and the nurse practitioner came out to get me and lead me back to the examination room and check my vitals. And she said that my mesh mask probably wasn’t going to do “because it has holes in it.”

I said, “Yeah. It does. That’s the whole point.”

“Well, it has holes in it, and it really doesn’t block anything.” (Not the same nurse practitioner I had last time, or she’d have known to be wary by now.)

“Neither do the fashionable fabric masks and 3M masks everyone wears,” I pointed out.

She said, “Well, that one isn’t what’s needed, do you want me to get you a surgical mask?”

“No. I have COPD and I can’t breath in one of those.”

“Oh. Well, do you have a different mask?”

I rolled my eyes and unhooked my Plague Doctor mask and swapped my paintball mask out for it. She boggled and looked, err, somewhat nonplussed.

“What kind of mask is that?!?”

“A Plague Doctor mask. Bring out yer dead.”

“Well, can you breath in it?”

    “Yup.”

“Okay…. ” Obviously still boggled. “I’m not sure about that one. Do you have a different mask?”

I sighed heavily and that point, grinning like a hyena under the plague mask, and swapped it out for the “Front Toward Enemy” cloth mask from my cargo pocket, and set the Plague Doctor mask on the exam table next to me.

She looked at that and blinked, and said, “I’m not really comfortable with being referred to as ‘The Enemy’.”

I said, deadpan, “Well, don’t make me wear a mask that restricts my breathing, and you can be my friend. Otherwise… deal with it.”

“Let’s just go with the bird mask.”

    “I thought so.”

Then she called all of the other staff in to look. “Hey! You’ve got to see this mask – it’s something else!”

My PCP thought it was hilarious, but he’s already figured out that I have terminal smartassery.

I told him, “Okay, now that we’ve established that I’m going to treat this with all of the seriousness that it deserves, I’m going back to my mesh mask until we’re done.”

      1. The Dissident Smart-ass’s toolkit:

        Malicious compliance tools

I left them a “Her Name Was Ashli Babbitt” post-it on the front edge of the counter, and a “Biden Didn’t Win” on the outside door frame as souvenirs on my way out.

        🙂

  12. I see that the Dems intend to have a show trial, to make really really clear just how much they hate the Bad Orange Man (who is really, really, bad — just in case you somehow missed the 24/7/365 media screeching for the past 4+ years). The irrelevant remnants of the GOP will of course go along with their good friends across the aisle, thinking this will buy them something…not realizing yet that they no longer matter. They can not stop the left, they can not even slow it down on any issue that matters.

To make the parody even more blatant, the Dems are apparently going to put Fang Fang Bang Bang Swalwell in charge of the “impeachment.” Emperor Xi must be celebrating his victories; other than the ongoing Muslim problem, he owns the world now.

    1. It amazes me that they steal Two Senate Elections on Jan 5, 2021 right out in the Open and without even making any effort to hide it and people somehow STILL take the idea that the GOPe will “Get ’em next time! Just send us more money!” with any seriousness at all.

      1. I know.

And all of the ones asking, “Is it even Constitutional for them to impeach him once he’s out of office?”

Uh… I see you think that the Constitution has anything to do with this. That’s so adorable!

  13. Hey Wyoming! Is there something wrong with the water out there? Get rid of that commie bitch republican Cheney!

  14. Who Title 32 activated and Federalized the 25,000+ National Guard troops currently in D.C.?

    1. According to my understanding only the president is allowed to call the NG into DC. Doesn’t mean they aren’t just ignoring the law however,

      1. From what I understood Trump declared an emergency in DC on Jan 11 which enabled NG deployment.

      2. Yeah, that’s what I’m wondering.

And, not quite: Only the President – or SecDef on orders from the President – has authority to order the Washington D.C. National Guard into D.C..

This is Guard units from all across the 50, err, 57 states being ordered into D.C. under Title 32 activation:

        https://www.militarytimes.com/news/your-military/2021/01/14/national-guard-dc-presence-will-swell-to-26000-for-biden-inauguration/

As an aside: Isn’t the current SecDef the former SpecOps guy that Trump recently appointed as a replacement for the old one who was fired/resigned?

Only the President can order Title 32 Activation – basically Federalization of the National Guard within CONUS.

        https://www.military.com/benefits/reserve-and-guard-benefits/whats-difference-between-title-10-and-title-32-mobilization-orders.html

Minor difference, but there is one.

To be legal and legitimate, Trump as Commander In Chief had to activate and Federalize the Guard under Title 32, and they’re under his orders and control. (Supposedly, at least.)

If Trump did not, then doing a Title 32 activation of Guard from across CONUS without Presidential authority is a military coup.

There’s no other two ways to read that that I can see.

        1. As another note: Aside from the higher brass, the National Guard is predominately staffed at the NonCom and shooter level with normal guys from the Red areas of the country. Guys like you and me, in other words.

There may be some exceptions among the rank and file and noncoms of the Guard from the Blue states like Hawaii, but they’re going to be in the minority, I suspect.

Unless they’re all hand picked to be Blue leaning and loyal to the Democrats, and I seriously doubt that they could hand pick all 25,000+ for that criteria down to the rifleman level.

          Pretty weird.

          1. Yep. it’s one of the signs that Trump is in control and going nowhere, should you be inclined to believe that. Or a coup.

Or, Trump is going along with what the deep state wants because he is done and doesn’t want a further fight after 4 years of it on his own. I wouldn’t blame him if he simply said fuck it.

And I have no clue, just hope my wife, Vox, and Annie are right and I am wrong 🙂

  15. Ever see the original Red Dawn?

Occurred to me recently that if Vladimir Putin were to send paratroopers to invade and occupy the US right now, I’d welcome them as liberators.

      1. Especially for me, yeah. For a Czech to say that, it’s a sign that something has gone horribly wrong with the world.

Oh, well. At least they wouldn’t be Germans. 🙂

        1. “At least they wouldn’t be Germans.”
Yea, they are ahead of the Germans, not by much…

          1. Hey, I’m still a big fan of a lot of the Russian gunny channels on YouTube. 🙂 A lot of the younger Ruskies are pretty cool.

On the other hand, I’ve never met a European German* that I liked.

            * American Germans are a different breed.

  16. Any time you’re tempted to give any weight to anything the American Thinker has to say, hark back to this: Statement

    Folded like a cheap suit.

    1. My wife told me that earlier today and I told her, pussies, they’re all pussies. *American* Thinker really ain’t.

  17. I have no clue what the next few days hold for us. Should Trump step aside as I expect (and hope I’m wrong, I’m still clinging to that) there is something quite different than in the past and it’s not the outright election theft, it’s that we know, some 80-100 million of us adults know. We are not giving our consent to be governed by the marxists. This country will break one way or another. what the spark will be I do not know.

    1. I expect *something* to happen at the inauguration of the Pretender-Elect. Whether it’s something that Trump does or something the Dems do, I don’t know, but there’s just way too many oddities stacking up around that whole event for it to not have an “event”.

      1. “Whether it’s something that Trump does or something the Dems do, I don’t know…”
I think you answered that in the long dark tunnel thread.

    2. OK, today I’ve been reading a little further afield and we had a Sunday get together of all the children and grandchildren.
Trump isn’t going to let us down. He is crossing the Rubicon. Why the late date I do not know, but he is going there. So, I’m going to be a believer until it doesn’t happen.

      Good luck to us all.

      1. I think so, too. He doesn’t have a choice if he wants himself and his family to live, and I’m pretty sure that he knows that.

        1. As you know, I’ve been skeptical that the outcome would have Trump crossing the Rubicon/Delaware. And while I don’t think they would kill him because they fear a martyr, I do think they will never stop going after him and his family. Anyway, either your clampdown by the marxist scenario is in play OR Trump plans to stop them. I’m going to go with Trump. And I’m crossing my fingers, rubbing my lucky rabbits foot, knocking on wood, hanging a horseshoe up, and breaking the wishbone with good wishes for America.

          1. Someone posted this on Insty last night. It’s possible. Will it happen? Who knows.

Could you explain this conspiracy theory about us becoming a “corporation” in 1871 owned by London and Trump returning us to being a “republic”. It sounds flaky to me, yet all kinds of people keep repeating this one. I doubt there is anything to it, but what do you think?

            Some reality facts:

            1. Trump was not running for just another 4 year election in 2016 – Trump was approached by the military to run and his entire win has been and still is a military operation. 👇

            2. Trump’s first 4 years was to drain the lower swamp first. The swamp was/is deep and incorporated every industry in the world, banking, movie, pharmaceutical, food, you name it they controlled it; much has been handled. 👇

            3. Barack Obama before leaving office signed an executive order to pardon anyone prior of any crimes in the government. This is WHY no one was held accountable when the Trump took office. 👇

            4. These swamp rats could not be tried for those crimes (ie: Hillary email scandal, Clinton Foundation, FISA spying on the Trump campaign etc) ~ only crimes AFTER Obama left office could tried – therefore, new crimes had to be snared. 👇

            5. The military needed to catch them in the act committing crimes with proof. 👇

            6. President Trump said in his speech January 7th, 2021: there will be “a smooth, orderly transition of power.” 👇

            7. This in no way means that President Trump is transitioning power from his first term to Joe Biden! Did you hear him say Joe Biden?

            8. We are transitioning from the defunct USA Corp to the Republic (not Biden). President Trump will not technically get a “second term” and as he tweeted, “won’t be at the Inauguration Day in January” ~ this means there won’t be an Inauguration Day. 👇This was the last recorded term of a President who served in the “American Corporation”. 👇

            9. President Trump dismantled the Banking Act of 1781 from England. The United States is going back to being a Republic and Donald J Trump will be the first President of the new republic with the Constitution fully intact. 👇

            10. The start date for the new Republic is March 4, 2021 ~ this was the original start date of the new President (until it was changed under FDR in 1933). 👇1

            11. At the end of President Trump’s speech he said: “Our incredible journey is only just beginning.” 💥👇

            12. Trump won an overwhelming victory and will be the President ~ of the New Republic. 👇

            13. The swamp rats needed to commit their crime during the last 4 years; and they have now been snared. 👇

            14. Certifying a knowingly fraudulent election as Pence and Congress just did is treason. 👇

            15. Now President Trump is still the President of the United States until January 20, 2021. He has the power to invoke the insurrection act. The Insurrection Act deals with treason at a military level.

            16. Why did the president not involve the Insurrection Act before? Because it involves the military & people would have accused him of being a dictator. He has given everybody ample opportunity to come clean with the fraudulent election: the Supreme Court, the DOJ, the courts, 👇congress, and the vice president. They all picked their lane for the most part and chose to certify a (knowingly) fraudulent election. 👇

            17. Many Trump supporters have been pressured and threatened by the deep state, they always have. People appearing to go against Trump have either been threatened or they are part of the deep state. People have picked their lanes.👇

            18. Do not underestimate the President and this military operation. Trump often appears weak before he wins (read The Art of the Deal). Twitter and Facebook now banning (censoring) the President ~ this gives the President the opportunity to use the Emergency Broadcast System 👇(set up in 2018) in order to contact all Americans for what they will need to hear regarding the next steps. 👇

            19. Trump has said over and over: “we have it all (the evidence).” He has also said: “we will never surrender.” And, he said: “the best is yet to come!”

            20. Do not watch or trust the MSM; they are deep state. Do not give up. Keep the faith!!!

            1. I think when you start with us as a corporation owned by London you’ve lost any legitimacy.

Pardons are not done in secret as far as I know. And why wouldn’t Trump tell us if it was so?

Generally, when it smells like bullshit you need to watch your step.

              1. Take out those two things and it isn’t out of the realm of possibility. Believe me, I’m not expecting this as probable. But it is somewhat possible.

                1. Sure, lots of stuff is true/might happen/might not.
But a person wearing a tin foil body suit is not who I’m going to for reliable information. We’re all just grasping at straws I’m afraid. I’ve decided to believe Trump has a plan. Will it succeed? Does Trump have the help of the high level people he needs to carry it out? Even if Trump is up for it he has to have a lot of others including the military. And I’m not real keen on the military at the upper brass level these days. Think Mattis and Kelly. Worthless SOB’s.

                  1. But a person wearing a tin foil body suit…

Hey, now. That’s hitting a little close to home here, pal.

I’ll have you know that my Aluminum Foil Deflector Suit is the height of fashion this year.

                    1. Prolly goes with your bird mask pretty well. It’s what all the best dressed birds are wearing this year.

    1. That was pretty funny and I could identify some of the truth to it. I stay away from hot peppers.

I’ve had some food in El Salvador that was unidentifiable. Same in Venezuela. The Koreans have some really hot stuff but I always had someone watching my back telling me – No – don’t eat that.

Then there is China. I once looked at my plate and noticed little things crawling away. And they have snakes on ice from the choices one makes at the nice restaurants. I watched a man eat one once, whole, all 3 foot or so. Only later to discover the snake was alive, just lethargic from lying on the ice.

      1. I’ve eaten monkey-on-a-steek and fried bird spider in the Mata Grosso, and capybarra steak in the Amazon.

And all of them were better than Korean War surplus C & K rats. 🙂

Goat meat burritos are pretty damn good, especially with a dark beer to wash it down with. Or even Polar… beer just doesn’t taste right unless it’s got formaldehyde in it.

        1. I’ve eaten a variety of meats a bit off the beaten path. I’ve had several goat steaks in France but never on a burrito. I would think that would be pretty good.

            1. It’s weird, I’ve never eaten goat in Mexico. I don’t recall it even being offered anywhere I’ve eaten. But I know it is a fairly popular meat.

              1. I have. But I’ve spent more time out in the back country there than in the cities and tourista locales.

Cabrito is more of a campesino staple, along with chicken, than it is regular Mexicano fare.

Of course, in the really, really poor areas… goats are too valuable to eat. So are the chickens.

                1. Tourist area’s I don’t generally go to but I usually spend time in the cities, mostly smaller ones.

Every once in a while I get to stay in some really nice place because of the proximity to the workplace. My favorite in Mexico is where the original NAFTA signing took place.

A beautiful place and a bargain.

      1. If I had another source I would. I don’t even know where they got this, because it can’t be faked. Watch it.

Comments policy

NOTE: In order to comment, you must be registered and approved as a CF user. Since so many user-registrations are attempted by spam-bots for their own nefarious purposes, YOUR REGISTRATION MAY BE ERRONEOUSLY DENIED.

If you are in fact a legit hooman bean desirous of registering yourself a CF user name so as to be able to comment only to find yourself caught up as collateral damage in one of my irregularly (un)scheduled sweeps for hinky registration attempts, please shoot me a kite at the email addy over in the right sidebar and let me know so’s I can get ya fixed up manually.

ALSO NOTE: You MUST use a valid, legit email address in order to successfully register, the new anti-spam software I installed last night requires it. My thanks to Barry for all his help sorting this mess out last night.

Comments appear entirely at the whim of the guy who pays the bills for this site and may be deleted, ridiculed, maliciously edited for purposes of mockery, or otherwise pissed over as he in his capricious fancy sees fit. The CF comments section is pretty free-form and rough and tumble; tolerance level for rowdiness and misbehavior is fairly high here, but is NOT without limit.

Management is under no obligation whatever to allow the comments section to be taken over and ruined by trolls, Leftists, and/or other oxygen thieves, and will take any measures deemed necessary to prevent such. Conduct yourself with the merest modicum of decorum, courtesy, and respect and you'll be fine. Pick pointless squabbles with other commenters, fling provocative personal insults, issue threats, or annoy the host (me) and...you won't.

Should you find yourself sanctioned after running afoul of the CF comments policy as stated and feel you have been wronged, please download and complete the Butthurt Report form below in quadruplicate; retain one copy for your personal records and send the others to the email address posted in the right sidebar.

Please refrain from whining, sniveling, and/or bursting into tears and waving your chubby fists around in frustrated rage, lest you suffer an aneurysm or stroke unnecessarily. Your completed form will be reviewed and your complaint addressed whenever management feels like getting around to it. Thank you.

"There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters."
Daniel Webster

“When I was young I was depressed all the time. But suicide no longer seemed a possibility in my life. At my age there was very little left to kill.”

“A slave is one who waits for someone to come and free him.”

“The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it’s profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.”
Frank Zappa

“The right of a nation to kill a tyrant in case of necessity can no more be doubted than to hang a robber, or kill a flea.”
John Adams

"It is terrible to contemplate how few politicians are hanged."
GK Chesterton

"I predict that the Bush administration will be seen by freedom-wishing Americans a generation or two hence as the hinge on the cell door locking up our freedom. When my children are my age, they will not be free in any recognizably traditional American meaning of the word. I’d tell them to emigrate, but there’s nowhere left to go. I am left with nauseating near-conviction that I am a member of the last generation in the history of the world that is minimally truly free."
Donald Surber

"The only way to live free is to live unobserved."

David Black, from Turn Left For Gibraltar

"If the laws of God and men, are therefore of no effect, when the magistracy is left at liberty to break them; and if the lusts of those who are too strong for the tribunals of justice, cannot be otherwise restrained than by sedition, tumults and war, those seditions, tumults and wars, are justified by the laws of God and man."
John Adams

Frederick Douglass

"Give me the media and I will make of any nation a herd of swine."

“I hope we once again have reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited. There’s a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: As government expands, liberty contracts.”
