Does anybody but me (well, and Joe Lieberman, bless his courageous soul) find it simultaneously ironic, sad, and infuriating that a former Klansman will be helping to obstruct the confirmation of the first black female US Secretary of State in history during a nine-hour circus of grandstanding and demagoguery, featuring all sorts of absurd and ultimately pointless smears against said nominee (which proceedings have already vomited up a disgusting accusation of being a plain liar, quickly overshadowed in terms of sheer gall by the accuser’s retreat behind a sniveling, cowardly facade of injured innocence), none of which has anything whatever to do with the Senate’s proper “advise and consent” role in the Cabinet nomination process — and the Democrats are not in the least disturbed by that?
Would any of you be at all surprised at this point to hear of Byrd demanding a “literacy test” for Condi, in a sodden outburst of senile nostalgia for the good old days when scumdogs like him used such devices to keep people like Condi away from the polls and “in their place”?
And after all these years of hearing even the most moderate Republicans accused by them of being the most vicious, hate-filled racists since…well, Robert Byrd comes immediately to mind — wouldja have ever thunk that even the Dems, as bereft of anything like decency and honor — as just plain old-fashioned sorry — as they have become, could have reached these towering heights (and boy, is “heights” ever the wrong word here) of futility and hypocrisy?
Oh, and here’s a little reminder of whose side these Demo-rats are really on here, in case you need it.
Just when I’m convinced they’ve hit bottom, they keep digging.
Update! I guess I should make it clear here that I understand that these pompous idiots’ objections to Rice aren’t based on race – but you know as well as I do that if the positions were reversed, the courtesy of that assumption would most certainly not be extended to any Republican, much less one that happened to be an ex-Klansman; you can just imagine the hysterics the Dems and the MSM would’ve lapsed into by now if, say, Trent Lott were obstructing Maxine Waters’ nomination (and may God forbid that hellish eventuality). It’s the appearances here that got me to thinking, that’s all.
