Remember the other day when I told y’all that pit bulls were the absolute best dogs on Earth? I was NOT just winding my watch, y’know.
Two soul-enriching pittie vids in the same week calls for the rerun of a few pics of the last dog I will ever own: my beloved Cookie Monster, late and more lamented than you could possibly imagine.
One of the late Cookie with my late wife, who originally picked her out to bring home. Over my objections, fool that I was.
One just as proof that pitties really ARE sweet dogs capable of getting along with just about anybody.
Finally, my absolute all-time favorite of old Kookie-Kook. So somber, so dignified, so noble she makes Walter Cronkite look like a goddamned drunken fratboy.

I’ll still go with Labradors myself. Just my opinion, man…
I do love my pits; my very first pup was one, when I was about five years old. Heinz, I named him, and he was a good ‘un. Kinda fitting, I suppose, that my first and last dogs were pits. I had one or two other types in between, mostly mutts of highly dubious ancestry. But really, there are NO bad dogs. Or none I ever saw, at least. Hell, even a couple of what I contemptuously refer to as “glorified dustmops” or “rats with pretentions” I’ve known were actually quite loveable little things, really.
Except the fucking chihuahuas. A girl I used to know well had like six of ’em, running around trying to nip at your ankles every time you walked through the door of her house. Fuck those yappy, trembling little wretches.
“But really, there are NO bad dogs.”
Agree 100%. There are some dogs that some training refinement.
Generally a nippy breed, especially when there’s more than one.
My friend when we were teens had one and he was generally ok.
Well I have two mutt terriers. The “big” one is only 22 pounds.
They make a lot of noise on a walk but basically they’re a lovable pair.
Much if a dog’s personality depends on the owner and how much they put into making the dog a good un.
I just noticed that Labs are generally heat dispositions. I can’t ever remember seeing a mean one.
Nice dog. Nice pics Mike.
I’m just partial to dogs, any kind is good.
I’ve had a wide enough variety of dog breeds over the past forty plus years that I’m convinced that there’s no such thing as a bad breed of dog – just bad dog owners.
Still, for my money, Aussies are the best breed of dog, bar none.
Pitts can be cool, though. Boxers are even cooler.
I’m still not a big fan of rats on a leash, but I’ve known a few mini and toy breeds that were neat dogs.
