“The First Cut Is the Deepest”–Yusuf Islam
Democrats have finally seen the light and cut government waste to the bone.
*They slashed funding for the Labor Dept. division that investigates union corruption.
*They’ve slashed funding for our most modern fighter, the F-22. Obama will not even be photographed with one, unless it sneaks into a State Dinner with a lady in a red dress.
*They want to slash Medicare Advantage because it lets seniors choose among private plans. They think seniors should only be allowed to “choose” the government plan.
But it’s not just old folks.
*Democrats have also slashed funding for DC’s school voucher program because
too many runaway slaves were escaping the Edu-cratic-Plantation they were deeply concerned that minority children would be forced into receiving substandard educations at Sidwell Friends School. You know; like the president’s kids.
*They have slashed Missile Defense even as Rogue States are developing missiles. That’s because they think America is the Rogue State. They really believe that if we can shoot down everybody’s missiles, we’ll start World War III…For The Oillllllllllll!
[T]he administration and Congress slashed the budget for the National Counterterrorism Center by at least $25 million. Those affected, the official said, included employees responsible for maintaining the Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment (TIDE) system, which contains the list of about 550,000 known or suspected terrorists. …
Both the Director of National Intelligence, Adm. Dennis Blair, and the head of the NCTC, Mike Leiter, pressed to have the funding restored well before the Christmas Day attack exposed potential problems.
“Without question, recent events will cause those proposals to be re-considered,” an intelligence official said.
A.J. Strata found this campaign interview with John Brennan, in which Brennan’s main concern seems to be on not getting too much information…Mission Accomplished, John!
“You don’t want to just troll and with a large net just pull up everything. There are technologies available to pulse the data set and pull back only that which has some type of correlation to your predicate [the probable cause threshold]. …
I would argue the government needs to have access to only those nuggets of information that have some kind of predicate. That way the government can touch it and pull back only that which is related. It’s like a magnet, set to a certain calibration. That’s what I think we need to go to.
In the immediate aftermath of 9/11, the threshold, quite frankly, was low, because we didn’t know the nature of the threat we faced here in the U.S.
[Post 9-11] Every effort was made by the government to try to get as much understanding and visibility into what else might be out there that’s going to hurt us again. Now that a number of years have passed, we need to make sure the calibration is important.”
James Lewis wonders if Obama simply instituted a quota on the number of Muslims who could be flagged and put on the “Don’t Fly” list. Don’t laugh–under the same theory, the Ninth Circuit just gave voting rights to felons because only racism could explain why there are too many minority criminals on the “Don’t Vote” list.
It was just like the Fort Hood shooter — who had “Soldier of Allah” printed on his business card. The weirdest psychiatrist at Fort Hood was practically putting up a flashing billboard to advertise his murderous plans. Everybody who knew him heard about it, but they weren’t allowed to say it out loud, which is suicidal Army policy. The Fort Hood killer was a massive command failure, but as far as we know, nobody got fired. The fact that the brass hasn’t been fired yet is a signal that they are not supposed to change. FDR fired people wholesale after Pearl Harbor. They got the idea fast. …
The only explanation for the Christmas Bomber fiasco is the most obvious one: This administration has just applied quotas to the terrorist database. Who knows? Maybe they are demanding that the database can only come up with ten percent Muslims. Or equal numbers of all colors of the rainbow. Or not too many people named Muhammed, because that would be profiling. We know that’s how they run their affirmative action programs.
Lewis is right; nobody has been fired for the Ft. Hood Debacle. The general there even said he’d be happy to keep sweeping up bodies once in a while because “diversity” is so super-awesome, it’s worth the funerals.
Yet someone in government set the “calibration” level to allow Major Hasan to contact the cleric/terrorist Awlaki in Yemen without losing his rank.
And someone in government set the “calibration” level to allow Abdulmutallab to contact the cleric/terrorist Awlaki in Yemen without losing his visa.
Does John Brennan know who that “someone” is? Any idea at all? Bueller? Anyone?
Because we should probably slash their budget, too.
