Cold Fury

Harshing your mellow since 9/01

Embrace the hate!

This one starts off with a GREAT quote from the esteemed and estimable Dr Helen Smith:

Liberals do not believe in the rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness which are American ideals, or at least they used to be. If you love freedom, then you will be hated by the modern liberal who believes that government should regulate individual freedom. If you love freedom and believe that the state does not own you, then leftist hate should be a goal, not a fear.

You said a mouthful there, Doc. Hawkins goes on to make an essential point: they ain’t exactly helping those they claim to love, either.

Meanwhile, how do liberals “help” minority Americans? How’s Compton looking these days? How about Chicago? Flint, Michigan? Liberal “help” means living in poverty in terrible neighborhoods, but always having someone else to blame for your failed life. It means feeling angry, victimized and hated by people who’ve never thought twice about you while liberals promise to help you by tearing down statues of Confederate generals. That doesn’t put money in your pocket, but it makes cosmopolitan liberals feel better about themselves.

This is usually how liberal “help” turns out for people.

Transsexual men, you don’t have a mental illness! Mutilate yourself through surgery and libs will claim that the guys who don’t want to date you and the women who don’t want to share a bathroom with you are bigots! Lord knows you wouldn’t want to suggest mentally ill people get psychological treatment instead of life-altering surgery.

Liberals “help” the poor by raising the minimum wage, but shrug their shoulders when it inevitably causes large numbers of poor Americans to lose their jobs. Conservatives who quite correctly predicted that would happen are called heartless.

It’s just charades, dumbshows, and misrepresentation all the way down with these people. in fact, there are two rules of thumb to bear in mind when analyzing their statements and proposals, both of which are invariably true: 1) for everything they say, the opposite is going to be the truth, and 2) whenever they complain bitterly about something our side is supposedly doing, a la the Trump/Russia nontroversy, it’s actually going to be something they’re doing themselves.

Some things never change

Curious, isn’t it, how you can reach back and pluck one of these commie swine right out of the antebellum era, plop them down in the middle of present-day New York City or San Francisco, and they’ll fit right in perfectly with their fellow Progressivists? They’ll be mouthing the same platitudes, pushing the same program, and complaining about the same “issues.” The only difference will be the hairstyles—maybe.

Guess that’s what these new-ideas people consider real “progress.”

Born in 1866, Magie was an outspoken rebel against the norms and politics of her times. She was unmarried into her 40s, independent and proud of it, and made her point with a publicity stunt. Taking out a newspaper advertisement, she offered herself as a ‘young woman American slave’ for sale to the highest bidder. Her aim, she told shocked readers, was to highlight the subordinate position of women in society. ‘We are not machines,’ she said. ‘Girls have minds, desires, hopes and ambition.’

Travelling around America in the 1870s, George had witnessed persistent destitution amid growing wealth, and he believed it was largely the inequity of land ownership that bound these two forces – poverty and progress – together. So instead of following Twain by encouraging his fellow citizens to buy land, he called on the state to tax it. On what grounds? Because much of land’s value comes not from what is built on the plot but from nature’s gift of water or minerals that might lie beneath its surface, or from the communally created value of its surroundings: nearby roads and railways; a thriving economy, a safe neighbourhood; good local schools and hospitals. And he argued that the tax receipts should be invested on behalf of all.

Determined to prove the merit of George’s proposal, Magie invented and in 1904 patented what she called the Landlord’s Game. Laid out on the board as a circuit (which was a novelty at the time), it was populated with streets and landmarks for sale. The key innovation of her game, however, lay in the two sets of rules that she wrote for playing it.

Under the ‘Prosperity’ set of rules, every player gained each time someone acquired a new property (designed to reflect George’s policy of taxing the value of land), and the game was won (by all!) when the player who had started out with the least money had doubled it. Under the ‘Monopolist’ set of rules, in contrast, players got ahead by acquiring properties and collecting rent from all those who were unfortunate enough to land there – and whoever managed to bankrupt the rest emerged as the sole winner (sound a little familiar?)

The purpose of the dual sets of rules, said Magie, was for players to experience a ‘practical demonstration of the present system of land grabbing with all its usual outcomes and consequences’ and hence to understand how different approaches to property ownership can lead to vastly different social outcomes. ‘It might well have been called “The Game of Life”,’ remarked Magie, ‘as it contains all the elements of success and failure in the real world, and the object is the same as the human race in general seems to have, ie, the accumulation of wealth.’

The game was soon a hit among Left-wing intellectuals, on college campuses including the Wharton School, Harvard and Columbia, and also among Quaker communities, some of which modified the rules and redrew the board with street names from Atlantic City. Among the players of this Quaker adaptation was an unemployed man called Charles Darrow, who later sold such a modified version to the games company Parker Brothers as his own.

Here’s the really funny part, in bold:

Once the game’s true origins came to light, Parker Brothers bought up Magie’s patent, but then re-launched the board game simply as Monopoly, and provided the eager public with just one set of rules: those that celebrate the triumph of one over all.

Hm. You mean she sold out her “liberal” values and took money for her idea? From a big evil corporation? This staunch Soljer of the Peepul abandoned her dedication to The Struggle and enlightening the benighted masses, opting to take the Boeing instead? Blithely walked away from Fighting The Power with every fiber of her being, took the easy way out, and cashed in?

And that right there is as good a demonstration of the reason socialism is, was, and always will be a failure you’ll ever see: it never once takes human nature into account. The desire to improve our lot in life by our own efforts is born into each and every one of us…including our socialist “betters,” as will be shown each and every time the opportunity presents itself to them. Even when they’re in full-on lecture mode, they’re keeping an eye out for the main chance. Which is why, in every socialist country you’d care to examine, the nomenklatura are riding around in limousines, surrounded by servants, and availing themselves of every perk they can lay their hands on, and soaking up all the graft within reach.

Cross their palms with silver and Higher Socialist Principle takes a fucking hike every time. They just don’t want any of YOU nasty, grubby, workaday villains cashing in alongside them, that’s all. As another great socialist once said: “I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money.” Emphasis, always and forever, on “YOU.”

“As I’ve said before, I’ve said it before”

Steyn hit on a topic very near to my own heart with that opening line.

One of the occupational hazards of the commentative biz is that what’s new – the daily news item – simply illustrates the same old thesis you’ve been hammering for years, so that life’s rich pageant comes to seem like a Broadway catalogue song, a great torrent of accumulation all making the ever wearier point – that “You’re the Top”, “The Lady is a Tramp”, “These Foolish Things remind me of you”. Or in our case: We’re the Pits, The Lady is a Transitioning Gentleman, and These Foolish Things remind me that our civilization’s on the express chute to oblivion.

Here, by way of example, are a couple of stories readers asked for my thoughts on in the last 24 hours:

Richard Dawkins has become the latest speaker to be prevented from speaking at Berkeley. Professor Dawkins is a world-famous scientist, whose book The Selfish Gene has just been voted “the most inspiring science book of all time” in a poll commissioned by the Royal Society.

His science is not the problem. Dawkins is also an atheist.

That’s not the problem, either – or it wasn’t when he was principally urinating over the Pope (“a leering old villain in a frock”) and the Catholic Church (an “evil corrupt institution” that’s also a “child-raping institution”). All three quotes are from just one Washington Post column: that’s how respectable and mainstream Dawkins was back then in 2010.

Alas, Dawkins is an equal-opportunity atheist, and feels just as unkindly toward Islam. Hence the announcement from the “liberal” sponsor of his Berkeley talk, KPFA Radio:

Dear Richard Dawkins event ticket buyers,

We regret to inform you that KPFA has canceled our event with Richard Dawkins. We had booked this event based entirely on his excellent new book on science, when we didn’t know he had offended and hurt – in his tweets and other comments on Islam, so many people.

KPFA does not endorse hurtful speech. While KPFA emphatically supports serious free speech, we do not support abusive speech. We apologize for not having had broader knowledge of Dawkins views much earlier. We also apologize to all those inconvenienced by this cancellation. Your ticket purchases will automatically be refunded by Brown Paper Tickets.

Sincerely,
KPFA Radio 94.1 FM

It would have to be “sincere”, wouldn’t it? Because it’s hard to see how apparently sentient beings could otherwise write such effete desiccated tripe. Notice how the shriveling of free expression smoothly proceeds to the next diminished staging post: Once upon a time, Berkeley professed to believe in free speech. Then it believed in free speech except for “hate speech”. Now it supports “serious” free speech, but not “hurtful” speech.

Well, we live in a world of hurt. Personally, I’m hurt by people who say they don’t like my cat album, or by the director’s decision to give me purple hair in this video. But what’s really hurtful is that KPFA and Berkeley can’t even be bothered to pretend to a principled defense of free speech. What is “serious” free speech? Not so long ago, arguments for same-sex marriage or tampons for menstruating men would have been dismissed as utterly unserious – indeed, preposterous. What KPFA means by “serious” speech is compliant, conformist speech that brooks no ideological dissent from the pieties of the day – on male menstruation, climate change, Islam, and whatever’s next on the list. You can be as “hurtful” as you like to cardinals but not imams, to climate deniers but not climate alarmists, to homophobic pastry chefs but not to gay newlyweds.

Its “emphatic support” of “serious free speech” is, thus, merely a regime of apostasy enforcement – which is why it has no place for an atheist such as Dawkins.

But see, that’s the beauty of it: Progressivism has no new ideas at all, and their tired, old ones are so self-contradictory as to be completely incoherent by now.

They. Have. Nothing. They’re intensely, smugly dismissive of all religion—except the most primitive, ass-backwards, hateful one in all human history, which absolutely no one is allowed to criticize in even the smallest way. They’re all for “free speech”—but only of the kind they approve of and agree with. They’re all for “dissent”—as long as that doesn’t involve dissenting from them. They believe in individual liberty—entirely and exclusively on matters of sexual hedonism and perversion, the right to unrestricted access to mind-altering chemicals, abortion, and government “assistance.” They are fervent believers in “science”—and oppose any commitment to free and open inquiry, skepticism, and the scientific method itself.

They cherish “diversity”…and ruthlessly enforce a blank, grey-man uniformity of opinion, philosophy, and even physical appearance. They revel in access to the latest trendy-hipster Micronesian/Cajun/Ethiopian “fusion” cuisine, while denouncing the horror of “cultural appropriation.” They smugly consider themselves “citizens of the world”…and disdainfully regard Flyover America as some sort of bizarre, incomprehensible terrain unworthy of any serious consideration at all.

And now, in their open-hearted magnanimity, they have decided that what we benighted ignoramuses are most in need of is another lecture.

The other night, I had an amazing conversation with a friend who admitted he was a Donald Trump voter. Having known him for most of my life, I was shocked. But as a result, as a proud member of The Resistance, I’m even more certain that we progressives are largely responsible for the rise of Trump’s America.

My typical response to conservatives who see me as a smug, elitist hypocrite for not being tolerant of their beliefs is that I’m “intolerant of intolerance,” but I’ve realized that that mistake is the issue. No, we don’t have to accept and respect others’ bigotry or ignorance, but it’s incredibly important that we understand where it comes from and why it exists.

Actually, you smarmy, self-righteous asshole, what’s more important is that you begin to understand that what you’re pleased to refer to as “ignorance” and “bigotry” is usually no such thing at all. It’s merely a difference of opinion, a refusal to accept your convoluted premises and twisted reasoning. But by all means, go on calling us names and refusing to imagine that we might actually have a valid point once in a while. See where that you gets you.

The folks who voted for Trump are by and large people who see progressivism, and specifically concepts like political correctness and intersectionalism, as an attack on all of those deeply held feelings of what America “is.” To them, our movement is an assault on their Field of Dreams. They’re afraid of losing their (yes, white and Christian) America in the tidal wave of cultural shifts that have occurred over recent decades.

Is calling them racist going to change that? Is calling them bigots going to do it? Hateful? Monsters? Ignorant? Uneducated? Privileged? We don’t have to agree with it, but we have to attempt to understand it.

You’re too fucking stupid and sanctimonious to even begin to understand it.

The only way The Resistance succeeds is if we fundamentally change our tactics. We must realize that the way into these hearts is to respectfully suggest that the causes we fight for actually align with their deeply held patriotism and love for America. That yes, our marginalized communities may look different and speak a different language, but they want all the same things you do, and they want to have them in this incredible country we’ve built together.

Umm, excuse me, but: “built together”? You puerile, adolescent shitwits haven’t built a goddamned thing. You denigrate; you insult; you attack; you destroy. You make outlandish and absurd claims about the egregious harm America has inflicted on the world, without ever once acknowledging the good we’ve done. You denounce American capitalist “greed” without ever admitting that the profit motive has sparked more real progress than any sort of collectivist fantasy you could name ever has. You bitch, piss, and moan about our assumed lack of “compassion” and “humanity” and “decency” while condemning millions to dependence on a Leviathan superstate as blank and pitiless as the sun.

You whine and cavil about a lack of “bipartisanship” and “cooperation” only when you’ve lost an election; the rest of the time, you run roughshod over us without the most cursory and insincere nod towards “working together” with your opposition, and condemn us as “Nazis” when we dare to complain. You ram a foolish government-health-care bill down our throats without a single Republican vote, and then try to blame us when it crashes and burns. You demand “respect” while offering not one whit of it in return.

“Want all the same things you do”? No. No, not hardly. What YOU want is total control over us, to reduce us to an abject state of servility and helplessness under a monstrous tyranny you retain total control over. What WE really want is for you to leave us the fucking hell alone—you, and your hideous Leviathan state too.

Unfortunately, we know by now just how likely THAT is.

But what this also means is that we as progressives need to stop getting so offended by everything and learn to put ourselves in others’ shoes. All of our experiences — conservatives and progressives alike — give us unique perspectives, and it is absolutely unhelpful to say things like “it’s not our job to teach you” when someone comes to us with questions.

Actually, it is our job.

No. No, the fuck it is NOT, you goddamned worthless, pietistic, priggish, arrogant shitheel. Get it through your empty head: WE ARE NOT “COMING TO YOU WITH QUESTIONS.” WE ARE NOT IN ANY NEED OF YET ANOTHER PUKE-INDUCING LECTURE ABOUT OUR MYRIAD SUPPOSED FLAWS. WE ARE NOT EVEN SLIGHTLY INTERESTED IN YOUR GODFUCKINGDAMNED COMMUNIST IDEOLOGY. WE JUST WANT YOU TO—AT LONG, LONG LAST—STOP SLAMMING AND TRYING TO DISMANTLE THE VERY FUCKING NATION THAT FUCKING GUARANTEES YOUR FUCKING FREEDOM TO BE SUCH A FUCKING INSUFFERABLE, IGNORANT FUCKING DIPSHIT, AND LEAVE US THE FUCKING FUCK ALONE.

Period. Full stop. End of story.

But no, the asshole continues. It’s like he can’t help himself. Which, of course—being an oh-so-superior, self-satisfied, narcissistic “liberal”—he can’t.

If we’re waiting for people who hold a different view to change their minds without being guided through that process, we’ll be waiting an awfully long time.

Oh, you’re going to be waiting an awfully long time, all right. AWFULLY long. Common ground, at last.

I think progressives would all agree that time is not something we have to waste. It may not be fair, but progressives must be willing to put aside their anger and hate and take responsibility for creating the change they wish to see in the world. To vilify, shame and condemn only causes those who don’t understand to dig in their heels. If we are the ones who want change, the responsibility is ours to do what it takes to encourage it.

To summarize: Progressives, stop insulting, stop shaming, and stop condescending. Start listening. Start teaching.

“Start listening. Start teaching.” And there, right fucking there, is the whole problem. The arrogant douchebag doesn’t even realize that one of those things is not like the other. If these moralizing putzes were even half as smart as they think they are, they’d know that when they maintain their laser-like focus on “teaching” us poor, benighted knuckleheads, then they’re not really “listening” at all.

The ugly truth is, they’re not interested in “listening,” and they never have been; they’re right, we’re wrong, and they will never even dream of considering they might possibly be in error. Even after decades of failure after failure—a collapsing, moribund economy; foreign-policy train wrecks and humiliations one after another after another; a skyrocketing debt fueled by out of control spending; a nation which rightly views its government as an adversary, despising it, distrusting it, fearing it, and seeking to quietly ignore or circumvent it at every opportunity; a populace that doesn’t believe a word its supposed “representatives” say, and fully comprehends the rot and corruption festering throughout the government while having lost all faith in its own ability to wield even the slightest influence over its direction—these are the toxic fruits of Progressivist governance.

Detroit. Detroit is their model, their ideal; Detroit is what they hope to turn the entire country into. It’s all they can do; it’s all they have.

And THAT is where we take hope; that is our ultimate salvation. These halfwits have nothing whatsoever to offer except more of the same. They have already failed; they have failed again and again and again. Anybody who has searched in vain for a job in recent years, or dropped out of the workforce in despair; been victimized by a domestic Muslim terrorist attack that never would have happened without the Left’s wet-brained insistence on importing hordes of unvetted, unassimilable troglodytes; been forced into an unaffordable Obamacare plan that provides them with no real coverage in exchange for an exorbitant monthly charge; or risked their life savings trying to start a business only to see their dream drown in a Sargasso of idiotic regulation, taxation, and government obstruction, knows exactly where their bullshit leads.

How many of you believe that what those desperate victims of Progressivist perfidy need most is another lecture on how deplorable they are from the likes of this pinheaded, pissant prick? How many of you think that this sort of condescension is going to win a single vote for the agents of American ruin, the Democrat Socialist Party?

They destroy a nation. They scold the people who built it, and claim underserved credit for building it themselves. They blame others for their own manifest failure. They decry true patriots while risibly claiming the mantle of patriotism for themselves. They despise, insult, and spit on the military that provides the blanket of freedom under which they cravenly cower. They arrogantly insist that only they can resolve and repair the damage they themselves so wantonly wrought. They undermine the very foundations of the American republic by refusing to accept an electoral defeat.

They lecture, they hector, they harangue. They dismiss, they denigrate. They condescend and insult. They mislead, misdirect, conceal, and lie outright. But the ultimate takeaway is this: THEY FAIL. Always. Each and every time.

They’re done, people. They. Got. NOTHING. Unless they suddenly and miraculously discover a smidgen of humility, it’s only a matter of time before it becomes legal to actually start openly hunting them, and bringing their stinking pelts down to the bank to exchange for a new toaster oven, a gift certificate, or some other premium.

And then, we can truly begin to Make America Great Again.

Careful what you wish for

Did someone just mention “the increasingly hapless desperation of their strategic skullduggery” just now? Why yes, I believe someone did.

The proposition those damning the president based on this latest revelation are offering involves the fact that Trump Junior is found on an email thread which he voluntarily disclosed on Twitter saying “I love it” in reaction to being told of the information on Clinton, that information having been characterized by its presenter, an English music publicist named Rob Goldstone, as part and parcel of a desire by the Russian government to help his father win.

This, we’re told, is evidence of collusion between Trump père and The Russians, and based on a timeline which included the Wikileaks disclosures of “hacked” Democratic National Committee emails and Trump’s request that The Russians make public the 30,000 emails Clinton had supposedly deleted from her illegal private server, it’s a smoking gun that Trump was the beneficiary of the Putin regime’s intelligence arm “hacking” the 2016 election.

Which is an awful lot of mileage on not quite so much fuel.

Which theory is harder to believe?

That Trump, who had never run for office before and who was panned as a clown by the Democrats and the media right up until Election Night last November, orchestrated a grand coup d’état with the assistance of the Russians to “hack” an American election, and that it was so well hidden that the Don Junior meeting is the only real evidence unearthed so far of the whole thing…

…Or that the Obama administration and the Democratic Party used their immense power to attempt to ensnare the Trumps in a damaging narrative that would either discredit him and the Republican Party as traitors in the event of a Clinton victory or cripple his administration in “scandal” should he pull an upset?

Who had the means, motive, and experience to pull off the deeds in question? Who had the power to let Veselnitskaya into the country, and what purpose would be served for such permission?

We don’t know the half of this story. But frankly, this business with The Russians is all of a sudden a lot more interesting than it’s been the whole time the media has been flogging it.

What’s interesting to me is how suddenly the libtards turned on a dime from decades of pimping and propagandizing for the Soviet Union to fear and loathing of them as America’s Most Dangerous Enemy. Pretty impressive for people who always maintained before that A) America has no true enemies, B) if it did, the enmity was fully merited, earned as it was by its own despicable or inhumane actions, and C) never yet failed to prefer to take the side of said enemies, while disregarding or actively alienating our allies.

Lather Froth, rinse, repeat

Schlichter is having too much fun again.

Yeah, yeah, intent. Whatever.

It’s all about liberals retaking power and trying to make sure we normals never get a say in our own governance again. Make no mistake, there are plenty of nominal Republicans who would be happy for that to happen. According to David Brooks, we peasants lack sufficient sandwich savvy for self determination.

None of this is about right and wrong. It’s about power – their power, and ensuring we have none.

Let me break down how this is going to end. Liberals are going to gobble yet another Treason Viagra and the hot chick of success is gonna let them buy her a pricy dinner and then smile and say “Let’s just be friends.”

Again.

Do you think this latest nonsense is going to stop Trump, by which I mean the people who support him? Do you think the normal people in America are thinking “Gosh, a campaign tried to get negative information about its opponent? I’m shocked and stunned and emotionally ruined. I don’t know where to turn or what to do. I guess I better support a bunch of liberal fascists who want to take my money and my power and my guns and who boo God.

Whatever.

The liberals are losing and they’re going to keep losing. They’re going to lose in 2018, despite the Republicans’ best efforts to fail. And in 2020 we’ll get four more years of Donald Trump and I’m going to laugh during every minute of it. Let all those latter-day converts to McCarthyism working as associate sociology professors at Gumbo State and who drive old Corollas with fading bumperstickers that read “Nuclear Freeze Now” keep tweeting “TREASON” in all caps. You go, girls.

You could apply that last statement to hapless NeverTrumpTards like Miss Lindsey Graham, too. But you probably shouldn’t; it would be mean, you know.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch coup…

Another epic fail. Or…perhaps not.

Donald Trump Jr. took a meeting from someone claiming evidence of foreign corruption by Hillary Clinton. The meeting proved useless. Donald Trump Jr. released the emails leading to the meeting. It is clear from the documents and statements of all involved that Donald Trump Jr. did nothing wrong. He broke no law. This isn’t like Hillary Clinton’s husband soliciting donations disguised as speech payments, travel costs, and charity work, while Hillary was Secretary of State. Based solely on the fact the source of the information was a Yeltsin-era prosecutor from Russia, a few anti-Trump lawyers falsely accuse Trump Jr. of a crime.

The Code of Federal Regulations makes the law immunizing Trump Jr.’s actions precisely clear: any foreign national individual may volunteer personal services to a federal candidate or federal political committee without making a contribution. The law provides this volunteer “exemption” as long as the individual performing the service is not compensated by anyone on the campaign. See 11 CFR 100.74. For example, as the Federal Election Commission advises all, “an individual can provide volunteer services to a candidate or party without considering the value of those service a contribution to the candidate or party.” Section 30121 of Title 52 does not apply to voluntary activity or services. The thing “of value” must be actual money, or its transferable equivalent, not a volunteer of services or information. Otherwise, if volunteering information in coordination with a campaign constituted donations, everyone from John Harwood to Chuck Todd (and maybe all of CNN) made millions in donations to the Hillary campaign, as WikiLeaks emails disclosed.

Hence, legally, Donald Trump Jr. taking a meeting at the request of a family friend, to hear someone wanting to volunteer information about your Dad’s adversary, can legally be no crime. He did what a loyal son, honorable friend, and smart advocate would do — hear them out. Anyone who thinks that’s a crime is the one who needs to have their values checked.

Ahh, but there’s the rub: the Treasonous Left doesn’t care whether it’s a crime or not. It’s something they can throw out there, hoping it will finally, FINALLY stick. Ace takes it a little further:

Consider: To them, those who voted with all their girlish might for Hillary and who cried when Pennsylvania’s votes were counted, of course Trump Jr. must have been acting on behalf of Russia. Their Narrative is that Russia wanted Hillary to lose; ergo, if Trump Jr. is willing to hear information about Hillary that the media would itself cover up, his only motive would be to help Russia.

The “aid” that he would be rendering Russia is only that of beating Hillary, which they assert is Russia’s whole Nefarious Scheme.

It doesn’t seem to dawn on them that Trump Jr. would have reasons to want to beat Hillary that have noting at all to do with wishing to “help Russia in its scheming.”

Jake Tapper plainly wished Hillary would win — and so did Iran, knowing that Hillary would carry on Obama’s pro-Iran-nuke legacy.
Does that mean all the negative stories that Jake Tapper has run on behalf of Hillary means that he was in “collusion with Iran” — agreeing to cooperate with Iran for a corrupt purpose?

Did he refuse to even mention the Ben Rhodes “Echo Chamber” story so as to further his collusion with Iran?

No, of course not. Iran had an interest in helping Hillary, and Jake Tapper had his own independent interest in helping Hillary. Jake Tapper refused to run the Echo Chamber story, which had the effect of being an “in-kind donation” to Iran, for his own partisan political goals, not specifically to “aid Iran.”

This fixation on seeing things only in terms of whether they help or hurt Hillary — and not, as Trump would see it, whether they help or hurt him — is the basic psychological defect they have of seeing Donald Trump Junior’s mere willingness to receive oppo against his opponent as “collusion with Russia’s schemes,” rather than rather basic campaign 101 stuff.

He goes on to reveal some truly dirty stuff on Felonia McPantsuit’s campaign, which is worth a look. But meanwhile, here we all are again, playing defense, bogged down in a bunch of truly arrant horseshit once more…JUST LIKE THE DEMOCRAT SOCIALISTS WANT US TO BE. After spending a great deal of time whacking the tar baby the Lyin’ Left has presented us, Rush finally saw the light:

Now, after a year, not a single one of them has panned out, from the golden showers dossier on down, not a single one of them has panned out. And how do we know this? Because of the way this little email chain and meeting between Donald J. Trump and a Russian honey pot is being portrayed. This is it. The bottom line is, this is all they’ve got. Everything that came before is obviously inoperative. It has been forgotten.

None of it is being linked, none of this Trump Jr. stuff is being linked to anything that’s happened in the past. Michael Flynn’s name does not appear in this story. Michael Flynn, which was the focus of the original bout of these stories, is long gone by now. The proof is wide open here, that they’ve got nothing. After a year they are going bananas over this. And they’re going bananas because after a year of nothing, they think this is it.

This is the story that’s gonna get Trump thrown out of office. This is the story that’s gonna cause an uprising among the American people. Except they have done that practically every day for the last year, and certainly for the last six months. Every day for the last six months we have been treated to a version of what we have gotten the past two days. And in every instance prior, it has led to what? Absolutely zilch, zero, nada. And the proof that it is zilch, zero, nada is how much they have invested in this latest.

They’ve got nothing. They never have had anything, on this collusion business, on the Russians working with Trump to steal the election from Hillary. They’re not taking this story and adding it to all these previous stories and trying to sell a cumulative pile of evidence. This is a standalone. Some stories I’ve seen have featured the terminology, “Finally we have the evidence we’ve been looking for,” admitting that they haven’t had any evidence they’ve been looking for prior to this iteration of the story.

You know what this whole thing reminds me of? The way the dossier was pitched. You may not remember, but the dossier — the golden showers dossier — was pitched to the media in an email-type message. It was reviewed and it was highlighted, what it contained — and it was designed to be seductive. And this has much the same ring to it. This babe calls Trump Jr. under a false premise, claiming she’s got dope on Hillary Clinton, and they take the meeting ’cause who wouldn’t want to get oppo research on your opponent?

That’s standard operating procedure in political campaigns. And then the woman shows up. “No, no, no, no. You misunderstood! I’ve got this Magnitsky Act or something I want you to do something about.” The whole thing smacks of a setup.

It surely does. But I’ve now come to believe that the Treasonous Left’s real target with all this ceaseless shitflinging isn’t really Trump at all. It’s US. Rush comes around to it as well:

Now, if Trump was colluding with the Russians, I don’t think this would have mattered much because it would have already been known. If Trump was colluding with Putin — let’s just put it out there — if Putin and Trump were working together to steal the election from Hillary and all of a sudden Trump Jr. gets an email saying somebody has high-level information from the Russian government, a lawyer nobody knows and is requesting a meeting to talk about it, what would the Trump campaign’s reaction be?

A lawyer we don’t know has information, we’re already colluding, what could this woman have? We don’t need to take this meeting. We’re already colluding in my hypothetical. Does that have no impact on you? I mean, seriously. If Trump and Putin are colluding and Junior — you know what’s going on here, don’t you? Folks, don’t you know what’s going on here? Don’t make me have to say this stuff.

So we have, again, nothing, like the golden showers dossier is nothing. But I’m well aware, folks, I’m well aware there are all kinds of people that are Trump supporters who think this is it, it’s over, Junior stepped in it, Junior just buried himself, Junior is shoveling the dirt on his own grave here by publishing this email timeline. It’s over. It shows you, I think, the power of this never-ending narrative to which there has never been a shred of evidence or substance.

People just have an inability to say this is BS and then treat everything that comes after it as BS because they always have a little part of their brain reserved for the possibility that it could be true. And once there’s the slightest morsel, “Oh, my God, it’s over, Rush, it’s over. I’m surprised you don’t see it. Oh, they got him.” I know that’s what many people think. I’m not there yet.

Okay. I have made a decision. This is it for today. No more of this garbage the rest of the day. There’s other stuff in the Stack here, and some of it, interestingly, is about how well Trump is doing, the implementation of his agenda. Now, half the sound bites are about this crap — pardon the use of the word, but that’s what it is to me, but I’m gonna find some diamonds in the rough out there.

And that’s what it all comes down to now, I think. The Left’s target isn’t Trump now; maybe it never was. The target is Trump’s supporters. They hope to demoralize us, to make us disengage, to inspire us to resignation and defeatism and acceptance of the eternal status quo. They want us to believe that the Swamp can never be drained, to believe that Trump is a fraud who never had any intention of draining it in the first place. They want us to throw up our hands and walk away.

And knowing that, I now believe it is absolutely vital that Trump continues to get out there among the people and do the occasional huge rally—to ditch the Swamp dwellers, to spite and disdain them, and get out among We the People and inspire them anew. I think it’s vital for him, and it’s vital for us too. It’s all too easy to be dismayed when all you get is a steady diet of the sort of stinking swill fed us by the establishment media propagandists; hell, I myself talked to three friends of mine today who were completely convinced that with this latest nothingburger, they finally had Trump nailed at last. They were really worried about it; Old Media had gotten to them at last.

No, I told ’em. Just hang on and wait; this is going to wind up being more of the same empty, gossamer-thin tripe they’ve been peddling all along.

Truth is, at this point, it doesn’t really matter to me if they DO nail Trump or his family on something or other. Short of actual treason, of doing the sort of harm to this nation that Hillary and Obama did with utter impunity and not a whisper of complaint from their partners in Establishment Media, I’ll still support him anyway. Because he’s our last and only hope; he loves his country, wants to see it strong and prosperous, and is cantankerous enough to relish the fight he’s in. He doesn’t believe that this nation is a blight on the entire world, responsible for all its ills and deserving of a serious comeuppance. His speech in Poland demonstrates that well enough, and the “liberal” horror and revulsion at the simple, honest truth laid out therein tells you all you should ever need to know about them.

Don’t let ’em stampede you, folks. Don’t believe a word out of their filthy, lying yaps. You can be assured that anything, anything at all, that makes them smile is going to be very bad indeed for you, and for your country. Remember: these are people who, when they even hear the phrase “Make America Great Again,” are reduced to paroxysms of spluttering outrage and disgust. They are horrified by the very idea of American greatness, or any attempted restoration thereof.

Can any reasonable person think for a moment that such as they could ever have America’s best interests at heart? Ever, for even a moment?

If so, may I ask just what the fuck you’re smoking?

Gramscian destruction and memetic warfare

I’ve had this one sitting in an open tab for a couple days now, waiting for me to get around to posting on it. This is actually the one that got me poking around Eric’s place again after a longish absence, leading to the post below this ‘un. Can’t remember where I saw it linked, unfortunately.

…the Soviet espionage apparat actually ran two different kinds of network: one of spies, and one of agents of influence. The agents of influence had the minor function of recruiting spies (as, for example, when Kim Philby was brought in by one of his tutors at Cambridge), but their major function was to spread dezinformatsiya, to launch memetic weapons that would damage and weaken the West.

In a previous post on Suicidalism, I identified some of the most important of the Soviet Union’s memetic weapons. Here is that list again:

  • There is no truth, only competing agendas.
  • All Western (and especially American) claims to moral superiority over Communism/Fascism/Islam are vitiated by the West’s history of racism and colonialism.
  • There are no objective standards by which we may judge one culture to be better than another. Anyone who claims that there are such standards is an evil oppressor.
  • The prosperity of the West is built on ruthless exploitation of the Third World; therefore Westerners actually deserve to be impoverished and miserable.
  • Crime is the fault of society, not the individual criminal. Poor criminals are entitled to what they take. Submitting to criminal predation is more virtuous than resisting it.
  • The poor are victims. Criminals are victims. And only victims are virtuous. Therefore only the poor and criminals are virtuous. (Rich people can borrow some virtue by identifying with poor people and criminals.)
  • For a virtuous person, violence and war are never justified. It is always better to be a victim than to fight, or even to defend oneself. But ‘oppressed’ people are allowed to use violence anyway; they are merely reflecting the evil of their oppressors.
  • When confronted with terror, the only moral course for a Westerner is to apologize for past sins, understand the terrorist’s point of view, and make concessions.

As I previously observed, if you trace any of these back far enough, you’ll find a Stalinist intellectual at the bottom. (The last two items on the list, for example, came to us courtesy of Frantz Fanon. The fourth item is the Baran-Wallerstein “world system” thesis.) Most were staples of Soviet propaganda at the same time they were being promoted by “progressives” (read: Marxists and the dupes of Marxists) within the Western intelligentsia.

The Soviets consciously followed the Gramscian prescription; they pursued a war of position, subverting the “leading elements” of society through their agents of influence. (See, for example, Stephen Koch’s Double Lives: Stalin, Willi Munzenberg and the Seduction of the Intellectuals; summary by Koch here) This worked exactly as expected; their memes seeped into Western popular culture and are repeated endlessly in (for example) the products of Hollywood.

Indeed, the index of Soviet success is that most of us no longer think of these memes as Communist propaganda. It takes a significant amount of digging and rethinking and remembering, even for a lifelong anti-Communist like myself, to realize that there was a time (within the lifetime of my parents) when all of these ideas would have seemed alien, absurd, and repulsive to most people — at best, the beliefs of a nutty left-wing fringe, and at worst instruments of deliberate subversion intended to destroy the American way of life.

Koch shows us that the worst-case scenario was, as it turns out now, the correct one; these ideas, like the “race bomb” rumor, really were instruments deliberately designed to destroy the American way of life. Another index of their success is that most members of the bicoastal elite can no longer speak of “the American way of life” without deprecation, irony, or an automatic and half-conscious genuflection towards the altar of political correctness. In this and other ways, the corrosive effects of Stalin’s meme war have come to utterly pervade our culture.

The most paranoid and xenophobic conservatives of the Cold War were, painful though this is to admit, the closest to the truth in estimating the magnitude and subtlety of Soviet subversion. Liberal anticommunists (like myself in the 1970s) thought we were being judicious and fair-minded when we dismissed half of the Right’s complaint as crude blather. We were wrong; the Rosenbergs and Alger Hiss really were guilty, the Hollywood Ten really were Stalinist tools, and all of Joseph McCarthy’s rants about “Communists in the State Department” were essentially true. The Venona transcripts and other new material leave no room for reasonable doubt on this score.

This post is from 2006; I may even have excerpted it here back then, I dunno. Regardless, Raymond’s clear-eyed analysis—particularly in the way he ties this in with the West’s seemingly eternal struggle with predatory Islam—is almost shockingly prescient. His conclusion, too, seems even more perceptive now than it did then:

The U.S., fortunately, is still on a demographic expansion wave and will be till at least 2050. But if the Islamists achieve their dream of nuking “crusader” cities, they’ll make crusaders out of the U.S., too. And this time, a West with a chauvinized America at its head would smite the Saracen with weapons that would destroy entire populations and fuse Mecca into glass. The horror of our victory would echo for a thousand years.

I remain more optimistic than this. I think there is still an excellent chance that the West can recover from suicidalism without going through a fevered fascist episode and waging a genocidal war. But to do so, we have to do more than recognize Stalin’s memes; we have to reject them. We have to eject postmodern leftism from our universities, transnational progressivism from our politics, and volk-Marxism from our media.

I don’t know that I can share Eric’s optimism, frankly. His fear of a hard Right willing and able to wreak total destruction on the Muslim world seems almost quaint now. From all the evidence I can see, it looks far more likely that we lack the national will to do what’s necessary to vanquish the jihadis and adequately defend our own culture and way of life, and are far more willing to go along with “absorbing” the routine bimonthly terrorist attack, having another of our teary, bleary “memorial” get-togethers that so dishonor our dead afterwards, and then plodding timidly on as before. Until the next time.

The Gramscian rot might well prove to be too deeply ingrained to allow for the vigorous, deadly response required of us; we would rather fence off entire cities behind concrete barriers, resign ourselves to constant and total surveillance, and endure an annoying and degrading mockery of “security” at our airports, it seems. Certainly it’s now obvious that the Muslim world’s unrelenting determination to subjugate us will require at least some of the brutal hard-war fighting at which Eric expresses his horror above if we’re to save ourselves from a fate too ignominious to contemplate. That’s a direct consequence of our squeamishness at facing certain truths unflinchingly, sure enough. But it hardly matters now.

All that aside, I have to say that Eric has had a larger and longer-lived impact on my own thinking than I realized until just now; the above passage is clearly where my oft-repeated statement that “before we defeat Islam, we will first have to defeat the Left” had its origins, for example. I used to correspond with him a good bit back in those days, to my great benefit; I really have to see to it that I don’t let so much time pass before looking in on him again.

Point: made

Jerry Pournelle nails it.

The big complaint about repealing Obamacare is that it will leave some millions without health insurance. Of course they don’t have health insurance in the first place, because much of Obamacare is not insurance, it’s “universal” health care paid for by a complex system of subsidies; and of course the nation got along for a number of years without it.

My question is, why must I – actually my grandchildren – pay for your healthcare to begin with? I say my grandchildren, because most of Obamacare’s subsidies are paid for with borrowed money, but I do pay current taxes – we all do although only half of us pay income taxes – and the United States is living off borrowed money at a higher rate than usual. But Obamacare says that if you get sick, your health care is my responsibility, not yours; and I am wondering how I came by this responsibility? Was I born with it? No. I’m pretty sure that when I was growing up my folks paid my doctor bills to Doctor Demarco and St. Joseph’s Hospital, and no one else did.

But somehow over the years I have acquired the responsibility to pay your health debts, and those of refugees, and even of illegal migrants who have no intention of assimilating, and I would like to know how I got this obligation, and the state got the right to enforce it with armed men?

Easy: we let Democrat Socialists run things for fifty years. Not that the Vichy GOPe is any better, of course:

The Senate is busily proving that Republicans can’t rule; they’re not even a Party. They’re a collection of losers whose jobs were safer when they were in the opposition and they could blame national misrule on someone else. They could say “We don’t control the House”. When they got that, they could say “We don’t have a majority in the Senate.” When that resulted in nothing much about slowing the train to national disaster, they could say “We don’t have the President.” When they nominated and elected a President, they could say “We don’t have enough of the Senate.” Clearly that is fudge, because the rumor is they can’t even muster a majority vote to obliterate Obamacare, a provable national disaster.

What more do they want? But we have had this problem since Lyndon Johnson and even before. Country club Republicans were satisfied to be the loyal opposition. The Democrats slyly gave them perks for being a permanent minority, and many took the bait. The only thing likely to keep these “we can’t quite do it” scoundrels in office is the – admittedly terrifying prospect – of Nanny Pelosi returning as Speaker; they’re willing to do without most of the perks of a “majority party” – which they are not – for permanent jobs on Capitol Hill. And God help us, it works: I sure don’t want to see Speaker Nancy Pelosi ever night – or even every week – on my nightly news. (I don’t want enhanced Obamacare either, or any of the other deficit enhancing free stuff entitlements the Democrats will bring“ in to assure their majority status if they ever take control. So we are obliged to work to keep this bumbling inept crew in charge.

For now, I suppose. But I don’t expect that to last a whole hell of a lot longer. I mean, when Democrat Socialists have graduated from beating them up to actually gunning them down in broad daylight, and the response of most Republicans is to meekly whimper that there’s fault on both sides…well, how long do you think people are going to be fooled by this grubby little Uniparty power-sharing charade? And how long will freedom-loving people of stout heart, deep patriotism, and long memory allow themselves to be (mis)ruled by such despicable weasels?

The pot is coming to a boil, and I don’t expect that it will only be Democrat Socialists to get scalded when the lid blows off. Steam ain’t particularly discriminating, and that’s a fact.

Purveyors of Fake News very, very upset that you know about Fake News

Sarah Huckabee Sanders lays down some hard truth. Needless to say, the liberal-media liars didn’t like it.

“News outlets get to go on day after day and cite unnamed sources, use stories without sources,” Sanders said. “You mentioned the [CNN] story, where they had to have reporters resign.”

Brian Karem, a reporter for the Sentinel newspapers — a Washington, DC-area chain — then jumped in to voice his displeasure with the rant.

“You’re inflaming everybody right here, right now, with those words,” he said, pointing out that the administration has also gotten facts wrong in the past.

“Any one of us, right, are replaceable, and any one of us if we don’t get it right, the audience has the opportunity to turn the channel or not read us,” he continued. “You have been elected to serve for four years at least.”

Karem said the press was present to “ask you questions” and that Sanders was there “to provide the answers.”

“And what you just did is inflammatory to people all over the country who look at it and say, ‘See, once again, the president is right, and everybody out here is fake media,'” he continued. “And everybody in this room is only trying to do their job.”

“ANY ONE of us” is replaceable? EVERY DAMNED ONE OF YOU is eminently replaceable, and very much deserving of it, too. As for “doing your job,” that ain’t the problem. The problem is with what you deceitful shills consider your jobs to be; it ain’t anything resembling actual journalism, that’s for sure. That’s what’s truly inflammatory, and it’s why the popularity and trustworthiness ranking for the Fakestream Media has nosedived to somewhere slightly above members of Congress and well below used car salesmen—and why that ranking will go right on augering in until it rips right through the Earth’s core and resurfaces in China.

Whine all you like about it, Karem, but your real problem begins and ends with the fact that we’re onto you now, and you’ll never be able to fool us again.

Deep State’s gonna Deep State

It’s real, and its tyrannical overreach is SPECTACULAR.

A new analysis of documents leaked by whistleblower Edward Snowden details a highly classified technique that allows the National Security Agency to “deliberately divert” US internet traffic, normally safeguarded by constitutional protections, overseas in order to conduct unrestrained data collection on Americans.

According to the new analysis, the NSA has clandestine means of “diverting portions of the river of internet traffic that travels on global communications cables,” which allows it to bypass protections put into place by Congress to prevent domestic surveillance on Americans.

The new findings, published Thursday, follows a 2014 paper by researchers Axel Arnbak and Sharon Goldberg, published on sister-site CBS News, which theorized that the NSA, whose job it is to produce intelligence from overseas targets, was using a “traffic shaping” technique to route US internet data overseas so that it could be incidentally collected under the authority of a largely unknown executive order.

US citizens are afforded constitutional protections against surveillance or searches of their personal data. Any time the government wants to access an American’s data, they must follow the rules of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance (FISA) Court, a Washington DC-based court that authorizes the government’s surveillance programs.

That’s a laugh. The FISA “Court” is a pretext and a subterfuge, and almost never turns down a request from the murky mishmash of politicized police-state intelligence and law tyranny-enforcement agencies to get permission to spy on whoever they wish. And if you think this particular technique is all they have going on without the people’s knowledge or consent, you probably also believe the Constitution is still in effect, or even matters at all as anything other than a document of purely historical interest.

DAMN those Democrat Socialists for inflicting such a thing on us, anyway!

The so-called Executive Order 12333, signed into law by President Ronald Reagan in 1981, went on to become the bulk of the NSA’s authority, expanding the agency’s collection capabilities to both foreign and domestic targets. The order is far more permissive than the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, as enacted by Congress, as it falls solely under the watch of the executive branch and is not reviewed by the courts.

Um. Uhhh. Oh. Never mind. You’d think Saint Ronnie would have known about mission creep, and its inevitability in any bureaucracy. Then again, maybe he did. He’d have to have been the sort of “amiable dunce” the libtards always claimed he was not to.

Personal security? Right to privacy? Might as well face it, people: you got none. Along with their rest of your supposedly Constitutionally-guaranteed “rights,” they’re as dead as the dodo, as useless as teats on a boar-hog, and as empty and meaningless as a politician’s promise. Meanwhile, the Deep State witch hunt/coup attempt grinds ever on:

The FBI launched a criminal probe against former Trump National Security Adviser Michael Flynn two years after the retired Army general roiled the bureau’s leadership by intervening on behalf of a decorated counterterrorism agent who accused now-Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe and other top officials of sexual discrimination, according to documents and interviews.

Normally I’m damned skeptical of sexual discrimination claims, but this one seems damned credible—and if you read on for the detailed account, you’ll see that the whole thing has that all-too-familiar odor to it of a rogue, out-of-control federal bureaucracy claiming sneaky vengeance for any disruption or exposure of its clandestine agenda.

It’s one hell of a Deep State swamp President Trump has set himself the task of draining. We can only hope he—and we—are up to it.

Update! More evidence, as if any were needed, via Insty:

A producer for CNN admitted in a newly released undercover spy video that President Trump is “probably right” in accusing his opponents of engaging in a witch hunt as it relates to collusion with Russia.

The video, published online Monday night by conservative sting activist James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas website, shows John Bonifield, a CNN producer who covers medical issues, saying, “I just feel like they really don’t have it [proof of collusion] but they want to keep digging.”

He continued, “And so I think the president is probably right to say, ‘Look, you are witch hunting me.'”

Bonifield also says in the video that that federal investigation into whether Trump’s 2016 campaign colluded with the Russian government “could be bullshit” and that it’s “mostly bullshit right now.”

It certainly is. Thank God for people like O’Keefe, Snowden, and Assange. Their motives may or may not be suspect at times, but they’ve done us all a service by exposing this wriggling, slimy mass of dung beetles feeding on the mouldering corpse of the old Republic nonetheless.

Sick of it yet?

I can’t make up my mind who should be more ashamed: them for doing it, or us for putting up with them doing it. I’m pretty sure I DO know who’s more likely to change their, umm, approach, though.

A total of 30 Republican members of Congress have either been attacked or revealed that they were the victim of a death threat since the beginning of May.

May 8: Wendi Wright, 35, was arrested after stalking Rep. David Kustoff (Tenn.) and trying to run him off the road. After pulling over, Wright “began to scream and strike the windows on Kustoff’s car and even reached inside the vehicle.”

May 9: Virginia Rep. Tom Garrett needed heavy security at a town hall after receiving a series of death threats in May that police “deemed to be credible and real.”

“This is how we’re going to kill your wife,” one message said. Others detailed how they would kill his children, and even his dog.

May 12: A town hall participant accosted North Dakota Rep. Kevin Cramer, shoving fake dollar bills into his suit jacket. A Kramer supporter grabbed the same man by the neck. Both men were ejected by law enforcement, but neither were charged.

May 12: A Tucson, Ariz. school district employee was arrested by the FBI for sending several death threats to Arizona Rep. Martha McSally. The man threatened to shoot McSally and told her to “be careful” because her days “were numbered.”

May 21: Florida Rep. Ted Yoho described his office getting vandalized by protesters. One female constituent left a voicemail on an office answering machine, promising, “Next time I see you, I’m going to beat your f**king ass.”

June 14: Sens. Rand Paul (Ky.) and Jeff Flake (Ariz.), and Reps. Steve Scalise (La.), Kevin Brady (Texas), Jack Bergman (Mich.), Mike Bishop (Mich.), Mike Conaway (Texas), Roger Williams (Texas), John Moolenaar (Mich.), Gary Palmer (Ala.), Chuck Fleischmann (Tenn.), Ron DeSantis (Fla.), Barry Loudermilk (Ga.), Mark Walker (N.C.), Steve Pearce (N.M.), Brad Wenstrup (Ohio), Rodney Davis (Ill.), Jeff Duncan (S.C.), Trent Kelly (Miss.), Mo Brooks (Ala.), and Joe Barton (Texas) were attacked by a gunman during a baseball practice in Alexandria, Va.

Scalise, the House majority whip, was shot in the hip, and remains in the hospital. Four others were injured, including a staffer for Williams and two Capitol Police officers assigned to Scalise.

The same day, New York Rep. Claudia Tenney received an email reading, “One down, 216 to go.”

The list goes on from there—and this is just since May. Remember, too, that these are just the Congressmen who have been attacked by violent liberal-fascist goons. Throw in the who-even-knows-how-many ordinary folks out there who have been assaulted by these despicable creeps, and all of a sudden it begins to look as if Civil War v2.0 has already gotten under way—with only one side doing all the fighting.

So far.

Remember, too, that all of this—every last bit of it—is down to Democrat Socialists refusing to accept the results of the last election, their ongoing attempt to overthrow a legitimately-elected President, and the bloodthirsty rhetoric they’ve been so free and easy with in support of their coup attempt.

One way or another, by hook or by crook, they mean to rule us. They don’t give even the most infinitesimal damn about the good of the nation or the people in it. They care only about power: exercising it, maintaining it, expanding it. And even now, their hateful incitement to violence continues without the slightest pause or diminution.

They will not stop. They will NEVER stop. They will have to BE stopped.

Well, so be it. Let them reap the whirlwind for all me. When their vicious filth finally does splash back on them at last, my sympathy and concern over the injury and horror inflicted on the individuals involved won’t be detectable with an electron microscope.

Putting their money where their mouths are

Ordinary, mainstream, perfectly typical Democrat Socialist lunatic responds to the Democrat Socialists’ violent and eliminationist hate speech.

GOP House Majority Whip Steve Scalise is in a stable condition after a rabid left-wing activist named James Hodgkinso, 66, opened fire upon the house republican baseball team during practice Wednesday morning.

James T. Hodgkinson was a former campaign volunteer for Bernie Sanders. After asking if those practicing were Democrats or Republicans, he opened fire on players with a high powered rifle from the third base dugout (Eugene Simpson Stadium Park in Alexandria, Virginia) The group was taking grounders and practicing batting at around 7.00am.

More:

Michigan Rep. Mike Bishop described how one man – thought to be part of Scalise’s Capitol Police protection detail – stood his ground to return fire as the congressmen and at least one of their children dove for cover in a dugout and Scalise dragged himself across the field after being hit, leaving a trail of blood behind him.

He told CBS Detroit: ‘As we were standing here this morning, a gunman walked up to the fence line and just began to shoot. I was standing at home plate and he was in the third base line. He had a rifle that was clearly meant for the job of taking people out, multiple casualties, and he had several rounds and magazines that he kept unloading and reloading.’

He said: ‘The only reason why any of us walked out of this thing, by the grace of God, one of the folks here had a weapon to fire back and give us a moment to find cover.’

‘We were inside the backstop and if we didn’t have that cover by a brave person who stood up and took a shot themselves, we would not have gotten out of there and every one of us would have been hit — every single one of us.

Anyone still wondering why the Democrat Socialists have always been so keen on disarming real Americans via unconstitutional gun bans and confiscation? Well, now you know: so we can’t defend ourselves when one of their own is gunning us down in cold blood for the crime of disagreeing with them, and electing someone they don’t approve of. And did someone mention the Democrat Socialist climate of hate? Why, yes. Yes, I sure as fuck did.

If the rhetoric of high profile Democrats is to be believed, GOP policies are the biggest killers of Americans next to heart disease, obesity, and cancer.

In May, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said an Obamacare reform bill Republicans have advanced would kill people.

“It is not an overstatement to say that some children will die because of this,” de Blasio said.

De Blasio wasn’t alone in his dire warnings over Republican efforts to fix Obamacare.

“This will cost American lives if it ever becomes law! This will mean death, pain, and suffering,” said Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.).

“They are threatening devastation in the lives of America’s families,” insisted House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). “This is deadly. This is deadly.”

“People are going to die if this bill that got passed yesterday ever became law. I’m going to lose a lot of folks. People are going to die!” claimed Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe.

“Thousands of Americans would die,” echoed Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

“There’s no question that people will not only lose their health care, but many will lose their lives,” claimed Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.).

“It’s essentially producing policies are gonna kill people. We’re essentially going to be killing Peter to make sure that Paul gets his tax cut,” claimed Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.).

The liberal media have been just as hyperbolic on the supposedly lethal threat of GOP efforts to repair the nation’s health care system.

“The GOP Is Trying to Kill You,” claimed a January headline in “In These Times” magazine.

“The ‘pro-life’ party has become the party of death: New research on why Republicans hate poor and sick people,” said Salon.

“The House Passed a Health Care Bill That Will Kill People” declared the left-wing organization Media Matters for America.

And that was just the health care bill. To hear the Democrats tell it, the GOP’s welfare policies are driven by a murderous hatred of the poor; its immigration policies, by a murderous hatred of Latinos; its religious freedom and privacy policies, by a murderous hatred of gay and transgendered people; and its support for law enforcement, by a murderous hatred of black Americans.

Even this voluminous list is by no means comprehensive; it’s barely a drop in the bucket, and there are many more examples at the link. In truth, there are examples of it everywhere you care to look, the whole country has been inundated with them. After having been marinated in this vileness for decades now, the real questions are: how could this murderous Democrat Socialist NOT act on it? What took him so long? And why aren’t more like him stepping up to do the “right” thing, the “moral” thing, in accordance with the twisted depravity of the Democrat Socialist worldview?

Elsewhere, Hindraker fumbles:

As a general rule, it is foolish to pay attention to a “shooter’s” purported ideology.

Uh huh. Because in a shooting motivated purely by ideology, nobody should ever take the ideology into account. Y’know, like we insist on doing with the jihadis.

John gets back on track pretty quick, though. Mostly.

Most of them are just nuts. Maybe that is the case here too, although Mr. Hodgkinson (age 66) is not a typical, 20s-loner mass murderer. But for what it’s worth, Mr. Hodgkinson apparently is, or was until today, a perfect exemplar of liberalism; of progressivism; of the Democratic Party.

He was today, too, and will be tomorrow and the next day and the next, from now until Doomsday. No qualifier necessary, or desirable.

Make no mistake here: the Democrat Socialist Party, and especially its “mainstream” media cheering squad, has planted a gnarled, ugly, wholly grotesque tree in this nation, one whose fruit is entirely toxic but whose roots are buried deep within the shriveled souls of the Progressivist Left. They’ve nurtured it, they’ve watered it, they’ve cultivated it. And today it bore its bitter fruit.

They made their choices long ago. May they have joy of them at long last, and that right soon. For certain values of “joy,” that is.

Libtards got NOTHING

Ahh, the sweet, sweet taste of nothingburger, washed down with a huge slug of liberal tears.

Trump supporters, swamp dwellers, and Americans from all walks of life had their eyes glued to coverage of the testimony by former FBI Director James Comey to the Senate Intelligence Committee this morning.

The hearing was treated like a major sporting event by D.C. locals, who lined up to gain entrance to local establishments for standing-room only viewing parties.

And how’d that work out for them? Oh, about like this:

These Photos of Sad Brooklyn Hipsters in a Bar Watching the Comey Hearing Are Hilarious

And they surely are. You really have to go enjoy these photos; I can’t recommend them enough, they are WONDERFUL. There are many of them, all uplifting, all edifying, but this one maybe sums it all up best:

LibtardTears.jpg

Aww, poor dears; looks like things aren’t quite working out for them as they wish, and it couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of fascist assholes. As for the weak, cowardly non-entity Comey: he has once and for all proved himself to be PRECISELY the kind of oleaginous, self-serving shitweasel we sent Trump to drain the DC swamp of. Breitbart has the six most important revelations from Comey’s testimony, my favorite of which would have to be this:

3) The obstruction of justice case against Trump just went up in smoke
Senator James Risch (R-ID) questioned Comey early in the hearing about the possibility of obstruction of justice regarding the investigation of General Michael Flynn. Risch repeatedly questioned Comey about the exact wording used by President Trump to him in private, which Comey recorded in his much-discussed memo.

The exchange leaves  Democrat’s hopes of impeachment for obstruction of justice considerably dimmed:

Comey: I mean, it’s the President of the United States with me alone, saying, “I hope this.” I took it as this is what he wants me to do. I didn’t obey that, but that’s the way I took it.

Risch: You may have taken it as a direction, but that’s not what he said.

Comey: Correct.

Risch: He said, “I hope.”

Comey: Those are exact words, correct.

Risch: You don’t know of anyone that’s been charged for hoping something?

Comey: I don’t, as I sit here.

Risch: Thank you, Mr. Chairman.

None of which should be taken to mean that they won’t be back in two weeks with another attempt, of course. They mean to obstruct and hamper Trump in any way they can; in truth, it ain’t so much about defying Trump as it is about defying US. They mean to prevent him from doing what we sent him to Washington to do; they mean to preserve the swamp, they mean to re-establish business as usual.

They oppose Trump personally, sure; they hate him, they loathe him, they’re driven absolutely frothing mad by him. But the thing they hate even more is his agenda. They don’t want the borders re-established and protected; they don’t want a more effective and intelligent war against Muslim terrorism; they don’t want the elimination of the regulatory stranglehold on our economy, the reinvigoration of capitalism and the opportunity and prosperity that will bring, and is already bringing.

As I’ve said: what we are seeing here is the DC swamp refusing to accept the results of the last election, instead launching a soft coup attempt in order to thwart the will of the American people—to put us back in our accustomed place once and for all. No more. No less.

The Comey contretemps has been just a part of that larger effort. It will be forgotten in two weeks, and Comey himself will be relegated to the obscurity that is his meager due. The treasonous, America-hating Left will be on to the next distraction, the next subterfuge.

And Trump will go right on leaving them choking on his dust, as he has been all along. It would seem to be what he does best. Far from being a “flawed” or inadequate President, he is well on his way to being one of the truly greats…just as I said all along he would. You doubters can say what you will about his lack of ideological focus, lack of political experience, etc etc etc—there is nobody I can think of who is better suited temperamentally for this fight.

The Democrat Socialist morons are still pitifully trying to pimp impeachment—for some nebulous reason, in some incomprehensible way, in service of…God only knows. Well, let ’em, I say; I only wish they would, I pray they try. Stop running your fat yaps and do it, libtards; come on, bring it, you lackwits. Do your worst. Just do it, just fucking do it. See what it gets you in the end.

As I keep saying: Trump is stupid, is he? Then what does that make all of those Supergeniuses™ he keeps running rings around, pray tell?

BEST. PRESIDENCY. EVER.

Update! Still think he’s stupid, a dope, in over his head? Still think he’s losing?

Better think again, chum.

It took only four years to build the Golden Gate Bridge and five years to build the Hoover Dam and less than one year to build the Empire State Building. People don’t believe that. It took less than one year. But today, it can take 10 years and far more than that just to get the approvals and permits.

One gentleman from Maryland was talking about a 18-mile road, and he brought with him some of the approvals that they’ve gonna be paid for. They spent $29 million for an environmental report weighing 70 pounds and costing $24,000 per page. And I said, “Do me a favor. I’m gonna make a speech in a little while. Do you mind if I take that and show it?” So I’m gonna show it. These binders on the stage could be replaced by just a few simple pages. How can a country prosper under this kind of nonsense?

I was elected to change it. All of us in government service were elected to solve the problems that have plagued our nation. We are here to think big, to act boldly, and to rise above the petty, partisan squabbling of Washington, D.C. We are here to take action. It’s time to start building our country with American workers and with American iron and aluminum and steel. It’s time to put up soaring new infrastructure that inspires pride in our people and our towns. It is time at last to put America first.

These are all things that real Americans know in their very bones: incontrovertible truths that nobody should have to bother wasting a moment trying to debate.

But never forget: this is EXACTLY the program the Democrat Socialist Party is opposed to. “How can a country prosper under this kind of nonsense?” The Democrat Socialists don’t WANT the country to prosper. They want the country humbled, staggered, brought low; they want the country forever reminded of its flaws, its depredations, its mistakes. They want the country to accept its place as a meek, docile cog in the wheel of global tyranny. They want the country not proud of its unique history and heritage, but ashamed of its supposed shortcomings.

They want us to accept the bit. Take it between our teeth, clamp down, and let them steer us where THEY think we ought to be going. THAT’S why they hate Trump so blindly, so insanely. We spit their bit out; at long last, we spit the damned thing out. And reared, and bucked, and tossed them off our backs.

We can’t be allowed to wander free. Our independence, our ability to walk our own path without their stern direction, galls them worse than a burr under the saddle.

It’s why they have to constantly harp on the sin of slavery, for example. Never mind that slavery wasn’t very much out of the ordinary at the time it was practiced here; never mind that there are plenty of nations (most if not all Muslim) where it is still extant; never mind that we fought a bloody, brutal war costing hundreds of thousands of lives to end it—another thing that sets us apart, and in truth makes us unique in all the world.

Just…never mind. Because reasons. The ultimate takeaway is America sucks, and how dare you think otherwise!

There are other examples, of course—many of them, all equally specious, facile, and as easily dismissed. But back to the larger point:

“While stressing the obvious, the administration is missing the important point. The purpose of capitalism is not job creation.” Amen to that. The purpose of capitalism is not to create health care plans. The purpose of capitalism is not to forge “livable communities” with little gardens outside your standard, government-provided apartment. “The purpose of the capitalist economy is to create wealth,” and that’s why leftists oppose it. They want to be in charge of the wealth, primarily in how it is distributed and how the earning of it is limited.

The left hates capitalism, not because of freedom and liberty — although they do. But the primary (reason) they hate capitalism is that it is the most efficient engine to create wealth for the greatest number of people in a society that has ever been devised. Nobody’s ever claimed it’s perfect. Nobody’s ever said it’s flawless. But it’s better than anything else out there, particularly anything (the) left has to offer. “The purpose of the capitalist economy is to create wealth. Employment and the subsequent distribution of the spoils of an economy are byproducts of capitalism. Since its inception, capitalism has been in a perpetual state of evolution…”

It is inarguable that the United States, in its heyday, created the highest standard of living for the most people in the history of humanity. It is inarguable. This is why the left so opposes it. Because it is a system. It doesn’t have a leader or an ideology attached to it, and therefore the left cannot control it.

And bingo, there we are, right back to the nut of it: Power. Control. I know it may seem I’ve wandered pretty far afield from the Comey comedy act with this update. But if you think it’s all unrelated, well, you probably need to think again.

The Left is being upended, at long last. Their internal contradictions, their unworkable assumptions, their megalomania, their folly—all is at long last being laid bare. In the Soviet Union, you had to stand in eternal lines for toilet paper, or shoes. In Venezuela, they’re paying a hundred and fifty dollars for a dozen eggs—or they were a year ago, anyway; it’s certainly worse now.

Their program doesn’t work. It has never worked. It never will work. Sad, grubby little apparatchiks like James Comey are a big part of the reason why.

Root causes

Still wondering how our once-mighty economy got turned into a staggering, anemic, dysfunctional parody of its former robust self?

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Teens in Gardendale are in for a rude awakening this summer when it comes to cutting grass. According to the city’s ordinance, you must have a business license.

Teenagers have been threatened by officials and other lawn services to show their city issued license before cutting a person’s lawn for extra summer cash.

Cutting grass is often one of the first jobs many have in the summer. But a business license in Gardendale costs $110. And for a job, just for a couple of months, that can be a bit extreme.

“I have never heard of a child cutting grass had to have a business license,” said Elton Campbell.
Campbell’s granddaughter cuts grass around the neighborhood.

“She charges one lady $20, and another lady $30, and another girl $40 besides what we pay her,” said Campbell.

For her, this was the perfect summer gig!

“Just helping out and raising money for admissions and trips,” said Alainna Parris.

But now, it’s becoming a hassle.

Which is kind of the whole point. But lest anyone thinks it’s all the fault of greedy, grasping government, think again:

“One of the men that cuts several yards made a remark to one of our neighbors, ‘that if he saw her cutting grass again that he was going to call Gardendale because she didn’t have a business license,” said Campbell.

And there you have it. Government will always be ready, willing, and eager to step through the doors opened for it by medddlesome fools like this putz.

“He’s coming after a kid when a kid is at least trying to do work. There’s kids at home on iPads and electronics and not wanting to go outside,” said Parris.

And that presents a larger conundrum: how do we foster anything resembling a good work ethic and a sense of responsibility in our youths when they’re faced with horseshit like this? Assuming, of course, that we want to inculcate those values in the first place. Clearly, that can no longer be taken as a given.

Mayor Stan Hogeland said when operating a business for pay within the city limits, you must have a business license. He said sending someone after a child making extra money over the summer, is not a priority. But he is committed to find a way to make this less of an issue for teens.

“I would love to have something on our books that gave a more favorable response to that student out there cutting grass. And see if there’s maybe a temporary license during the summer months that targets teenagers,” said Mayor Hogeland.

Seems reasonable enough. But is a kid out mowing lawns in and around his neighborhood for a few bucks really “operating a business” in any truly meaningful sense? If a kid helps an elderly neighbor rake some leaves or paint his house or mend a fence, say, and the neighbor throws him twenty bucks for his trouble, is that “operating a business for pay” too? If not, why not?

I look back on my own childhood experience mowing lawns, and I can’t help but wonder: how in the world did we all ever manage to survive our own childhoods without the Nanny State watching over us and making sure we were all in full compliance with its edicts, anyway? And what about safety? Lawnmowers are dangerous devices; shouldn’t these kids be wearing helmets, gloves, goggles, full suits of medieval armor—shouldn’t ALL of us be?

And finally: is it too much to ask for the busybodies to finally admit that they’ve badly overstepped their bounds, and to willingly relinquish some of the outrageous power and control they’ve asserted over us—without our having to string a bunch of them up from lampposts first, that is?

Does the word “tyranny” have any meaning at all anymore?

Gimme gimme gimme

No government program, once established, can ever be ended. No spending, no matter how wasteful or ineffective, can ever be cut.

Since welfare reform was enacted in 1996, annual spending on the nation’s anti-poverty programs has more than doubled. For the more than $1 trillion spent overall in 2016, we could have mailed a $20,000 check to every household with below-average income. Yet the Left’s appetite for more spending remains insatiable. A widespread belief holds that, since the Clinton-era reforms, the welfare state “ceased its expansion and began to retreat”; that a safety net “torn to shreds” is “thin and getting thinner.” Proposals in the new Trump administration budget to check the extraordinary and unsustainable growth of welfare spending are “Robin-Hood-in-reverse policies in an unprecedented scale,” the common theme of which is “really hurting the poor.”

…despite the claims from critics that Trump is waging class warfare on the poor, this budget, if fully implemented over two terms, would leave social safety-net spending by 2024 higher than under any president not named Obama.

How, then, are critics defining an acceptable level of anti-poverty spending versus one that is “cruel and short-sighted,” to quote House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi? The only guiding principle appears to be “More.”

Well, duh. How else are you gonna get more people dependent on government for their survival, and keep them voting Democrat Socialist?

The truly ironic thing is, despite Democrat Socialist handwringing and hysteria, absolutely nobody is really talking about eliminating the social safety net; just about everybody needs a little help sometimes, and sometimes the government is the only realistic option for that, although generally speaking private charities usually are more efficient and humane. But if you think the goal of Pelosi and her foul ilk is actually to help anybody, you’re dreaming. Their motivation is the same as it always is, each and every single time: power, and control.

Punch back twice as hard

It gets results.

Republican Greg Gianforte won Thursday’s special election for the U.S. House in Montana, defeating Democratic challenger Rob Quist despite being charged with misdemeanor assault the day before.

The election results — with Gianforte winning over 50% of the vote and leading by a seven-point margin — were a major blow to Democrats’ anti-Trump efforts, and to the media’s expectations, after Gianforte had allegedly “body-slammed” a reporter before his final campaign event on Wednesday.

Montanans are “sending a wake-up call to the Washington D.C. establishment,” Gianforte told a jubilant crowd outside his campaign headquarters, after multiple outlets called the race.

That they are. The DC sewer rats, however, are desperately slapping the snooze button:

GOP strategist Rick Wilson lamented this “Trump effect.”

“This Gianforte assault story is one of those moments where the cultural collapse of the GOP into the Trump Troll Party is captured,” Wilson tweeted. He attacked those who might defend “someone assaulting a reporter because ‘duh lubrul media lies.'”

Wilson asked, “Are you so past the rule of law, and lack so much confidence in your ideas that this is where you take political satisfaction? Because if this is where you are, you’re not a party; you’re a mob. If this is where you are, you’re not a conservative; you’re trash.”

Get bent, loser. You and the rest of the Vichy Republicans are long past your sell-by date.

The GOP strategist concluded by saying, “If you’re a Republican or conservative defending this, please stop identifying yourself as either.”

Happy to, fuckface. In fact, a lot of us are way, way ahead of you on that. Now you just trot on off and joyously wag your little tail for your Democrat Socialist masters, and collect your pat on the head for doing their bidding like you were told.

While many Republicans might side with Wilson on this, Trump supporters are sick of the GOP playing by “politically correct” rules. They might defend Gianforte — and be willing to send him extra money after the assault — because he is not afraid to fight back.

Bingo.

This particular Twitter user might merely be trolling, but his message seems to fit this mentality. “I just voted for Greg Gianforte because our founding fathers used to duel to the death over arguments and they weren’t deemed ‘unfit,'” a user named (Zombie_Cartman) who identified himself as “a 35 year old former Marine/full time gamer/ninja/comedian” tweeted.

Again: bingo. Shout it from the rooftops: we’re fed up. We’re fed up with liberal propagandists masquerading as honest journalists harassing us, slandering us, lying about us, and acting as if they have a God-granted right to be allowed to get away with it all. And we’re also fed up with no-ball phony “conservatives” who talk a great fight but won’t lift a finger to stop the destruction of our nation, for whom the best time to mount an effective defense is always and forever “next time.”

Those useless pissant Republicans who never saw an American value or ideal they were willing to vigorously, forcefully protect—who expect us all to just back and humbly submit to being made punching bags by the Left while being scolded for our “incivility” by the fucking Republican scum who have been selling us down the river for decades now—really need to lay off that snooze button. Failing that, they need to just hide and watch while those who are serious about making America great again roll up their sleeves, ball their fists, and get to work.

Damn the torpedoes

I know I’ve been quoting Rush maybe more than I should lately, but he’s been nailing it.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Rush, two things. First of all, when President Trump addressed the nation through the State of the Union, his favorability ratings went up. I don’t understand why he does not do like Reagan did or Obama and address the nation on a monthly basis.

RUSH: Uhhh, A, I don’t think Reagan did. Obama went longer without press conferences than most presidents. Obama didn’t need to address the American people; the surrogates of his administration were the media, and they were getting the word out. Reagan… In fact, in Reagan’s second term, he practically was invisible after the Iran-Contra thing happened. Now, Trump is addressing the American people. This is why I wanted to accept your call, because Trump is, every day, addressing the American people via Twitter.

CALLER: Yeah, but don’t you think it’d be more effective if he sat down calmly and humbly mentioned the things that he accomplished and then calmly addressed the lies that are being spewed out there? I think Trump supporters like myself would love to see that, ’cause we’re frustrated. I know he does the Twitter, but if he addresses the nation, he’s very impressive when he does that.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. He IS addressing the nation—via Twitter, as Rush mentioned, which disallows Government Media from spinning, lying, selectively editing, and basically standing everything he says on its head to mean the opposite of what he actually did say.

We’ve heard it from the very beginning, but think, if you will, about just who it is that’s continually bitching about Trump being on Twitter: Democrat Socialists and—perhaps to an even greater degree—Trump’s Republicrat opposition. The only people who are upset by Trump’s Tweeting are people who don’t like him, who opposed him from the start, and are working even now to thwart and hogtie him. Going hat in hand to Old Media, seeking their indulgence to use a megaphone they control, over airwaves fewer and fewer of us even bother with anyway—well, where the hell is the upside to that?

It would amount to assisting the resurrection of a slowly expiring near-corpse—one which is gasping and shuddering for its last desperate breath but was virulently and unalterably hostile in life, and is only going to resume attacking you once you get him back on his feet again. I don’t know, but I would have to guess Rush’s caller is an older guy, one still wedded to old modes of thinking and not remotely tech-savvy, who still perceives Old Media as the gatekeepers of all information.

Happily, they aren’t. Not anymore they ain’t. They are damned near irrelevant now, and if allowed (or forced) to keep treading in the same worn-out track will soon be entirely so; the election itself demonstrated that clearly enough. Trump has found a way around them, to their outrage and horror. There is no benefit I can see to his pretending they still matter. The only way they can cause much damage now is if they’re allowed to.

Stick to dancing with who brung ya, Mr President. That would NOT be ABCBNBPBS, MSNBC, CNN, or any of the rest of the dinosaur establishment propagandists. Let them go on spluttering and gagging and shrieking in outrage. Let them choke on their sad-sack, also-ran status. And let them finally shuffle on off to oblivion at long, long last—unmourned, unlamented, and unnoticed.

But here’s the meat of it, the bit I really wanted to get to:

I think now, folks, there is a golden opportunity. I don’t know how big an opportunity, but it’s an opportunity. It’s an opening. Since they’ve announced this stupid special counsel investigation, just head full speed down the road of the domestic agenda. Let’s get going on repealing Obamacare. And use the force of Trump’s personality and his victory to get Republicans in Congress signed up and doing this. Ditto on tax reform. The one thing — the one thing that’s gonna provide Trump some insurance here is actually making America great again, is actually improving the circumstances.

It’s gonna be hard, because the Republicans don’t want to do it!

The Republicans are scared to death of this counsel. “Oh, no!” They’re afraid they’re gonna go down with the boat, afraid they’re gonna go down with the ship. But it’s time for Trump to marshal every bit of these special powers he has — as a negotiator, as a leader — and if he’s gonna make a speech about anything, it ought to be about this, about how he is dedicated, rededicated, whatever, to the agenda on which he ran. And that we have gotta continue working as hard as we can doing everything we can to move forward on repealing Obamacare, on dealing with illegal immigration and make the circumstances even better, moving on to tax reform.

And make speeches about that. Address the nation with what. You know, don’t tell the nation that he’s a victim and to feel sorry for him because of all this. Instead, cast it as people trying to stop him from completing his agenda for the American people. Make it known that what’s going on here stands in the way of the betterment of life for the American people. Let it be known here that this is as much about denying the American people improved economic standards, standards of living and the Trump agenda as he can. That’s the way to get the people behind him.

It’s much better than trying to rally them to his cause via sympathy and how unfortunate, how unfair it is he’s being investigated. He is still president of the United States. He is going to be president of the United States for the longest time. Send a signal every day he’s not cowering in fear. Send a signal every day he’s not gonna resign; it’s not in his vocabulary. Send a signal every day he hasn’t done diddly-squat and this is typical, that he expected this. This is the last dying gasp of the establishment trying to destroy everything he stands for and you, the American people.

And get moving as fast as he can on continuing to implement his agenda. Turn the tables on these people and make them feel depressed! The best way to do that is for Trump to double town on the agenda and get going on it and to make it look like all of this is having no effect on him whatsoever. Now, they’re not gonna go away. They’re never gonna go away. They’re never gonna stop trying to get rid of Trump. He may as well take advantage of his position and use the extraordinary powers he has as an influencer, as a negotiator, to keep the country moving in the positive direction that it is moving since he became president.

THIS; precisely this. You were sent to drain a swamp, Donald. The alligators don’t wish to see the swamp drained; the muck is their milieu, and they’re going to wallow in it until the last one is dragged out by his slimy tail. Nobody should be too surprised by that. And it ain’t just Democrat Socialist alligators, either. One of Rush’s other callers put it best:

CALLER: Oh, yeah. Well, the thing about it is, you have to understand now we’re looking at it as it’s not Trump against, you know, the Democrats. It’s the people and Trump against the swamp.

Absolutely, precisely, incontrovertibly so. What we’re looking at here is a last chance at possibly averting a civil war. It may well come anyway, who knows. But if Trump falters or fails or capitulates, it certainly will, and probably sooner rather than later too.

Update! Dang it, forgot to include the title when I first posted this. Fixed.

They know not what they do

The Deep State makes its move, and the coup attempt grinds on.

The Justice Department has appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller to be a special counsel to lead the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 campaign.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein made the announcement Wednesday evening, just over a week after President Trump suddenly fired FBI Director James Comey, whose agency was probing whether Trump has any ties to Russia.

“In my capacity as acting attorney general, I determined that it is in the public interest for me to exercise my authority and appoint a special counsel to assume responsibility for this matter,” Rosenstein said.

“My decision is not a finding that crimes have been committed or that any prosecution is warranted. I have made no such determination. What I have determined is that based upon the unique circumstances, the public interest requires me to place this investigation under the authority of a person who exercises a degree of independence from the normal chain of command.”

Rosenstein, who was in charge of the Russia investigation since Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself, said a special counsel was chosen to maintain the confidence of the American people.

Yeah, right. Just like the rest of you DC slimeballs, you don’t give the smallest shit about the American people. You’re just another alligator, with an alligator’s natural reaction to the prospect of the swamp being drained. And you just brought Civil War v2.0 that much closer.

Can you name, ladies and gentlemen — this is a little test here — can you name a single crime that Trump has committed in the last 10 days? Can you name a single error? Now, you might want to say the timing of Comey’s firing is an error. But I’m talking about they’re whispering, starting to shout impeachment.

Can anybody name for me anything approaching an impeachable offense in the last ten days? Can anybody tell me of anything that has been established as rock solid with evidence in the Drive-By Media of any impeachable act by Donald Trump, ever?

What, you can’t? Well, it obviously has to exist, right, or they wouldn’t be talking about impeachment, right? I mean, there’s gotta be some crime. They’re talking about a special counsel, independent prosecutor. There has to be a crime for that. What’s the crime? Firing Comey is not a crime.

By the way, ladies and gentlemen, are you aware — you may not be — are you aware that the Constitution of the United States does not even discuss the FBI director? Are you aware that the Constitution of the United States doesn’t talk about the FBI director? There’s no such thing as the FBI director in the Constitution of the United States. (interruption) What do you mean, what do I mean?

What I mean is, then why is the FBI director being put on a higher power pedestal than the president of the United States? There’s nothing in the Constitution that says the president can’t fire the FBI director because there’s nothing in the Constitution about the FBI director.

We all have to get past the notion that the Constitution is in any way relevant, and that the will of the people as expressed in the last election matters in the least to the Ruling Class denizens of the DC swamp. By their dim lights, we chose to elect someone they consider unacceptable. They will not tolerate such insolence from the likes of us; they will undo that error by any means they can contrive.

They have been hammering this nail for ten months, and they don’t have one shred more of “evidence” now than they did then. But they’ve taken it upon themselves to appoint a “special prosecutor”—whose mandate and power is pretty much open-ended and boundless—to investigate…WHAT, exactly?

No one can say—because this “special prosecutor” isn’t really expected to uncover evidence of any “crime.” The special prosecutor’s job is to cripple and hopefully remove Trump, or at least force his resignation: to right the hideous wrong done by the American people in daring to elect him, and to restore those alligators to their rightful positions as unquestioned lords of the DC swamp.

They will not stop. They will have to BE stopped. This nefarious, audacious move makes it clear that that is never going to happen without bloodshed. I knew the miserable vermin would fight hard to keep their power and perks, but I have to admit I didn’t really expect them to go so far as to risk the kind of serious upheaval they are now flouting.

Well, so be it. Our would-be DC masters have sown the wind. Reaping time is a-coming. And let’s not make any mistakes about who the enemy is either, or waste any time making artificial distinctions between slimy fucking rats:

With the Democrats and the media out there howling like wolves over investigation, why isn’t it automatically considered impossible because Trump is a Republican, and the Republicans own the House, and there’s no way we would think that the Republicans are ever gonna vote out articles of impeachment against one of their own? Especially with no evidence of anything yet. There’s no crime. Nobody has a crime. Folks, if there had been a crime, you would know it.

That would be all they’re talking about. They’re trying to make you think crimes occurred. They’re trying to make you think obstruction has taken place here. I made the observation the other day: Where are the Republicans? They’re making no effort to defend the president. The president, as I’ve been maintaining, all he’s got is you. You people that voted for him.

And the DC vermin have just told us exactly how much that matters to them—how much say We The People are now to be allowed in our own governance: NONE. AT. ALL.

Here’s where we are, people: you will be allowed to elect either a hard-Left Democrat Socialist, or a “moderate” Republican collaborator; no other choice is acceptable. Your diseased, almighty government will continue to grind on: stealing your freedom, spending money it doesn’t have, refusing to defend you or re-establish the national borders, expanding the blight and decay and dysfunction that is now part and parcel of American governance. Crippling the economy via regulation and punitive taxation; poking their noses into and meddling with any and every aspect of your life; hectoring you and lecturing you about your unforgivable lack of proper respect for Progressivist psychosis; vigorously restricting your right to dissent while mollycoddling and encouraging the violent thugs rioting in your cities.

You are now expected not just to humbly tolerate but actually be grateful for insults, slander, and physical assault by primordial dipshits without the slightest comprehension of how the world works. You are expected to work your ass off in order to keep these same thumbsucking, bedwetting shitweasels fed, clothed, and housed. You are expected to welcome hordes of third-world barbarians with no understanding of our culture and no interest in assimilating; their depredations against you—including harassment, gang rape, and occasional mass murder—will be met with no retaliation or even acts of self-defense from the likes of you. To even speak of them as enemies will bring virulent disapprobation at the very least.

Your compliance with your new serfdom will be tracked by cameras on every street corner. Step out of line in the smallest way, and you will assuredly be made to pay for your treasonous insubordination.

Government of the people, by the people, and for the people has now officially perished from this earth. This Deep State “special prosecutor” will be “investigating” until the day Trump leaves office, in whatever fashion that finally occurs. With this move, I now begin to doubt that he will be allowed to finish even one term. We can either decide to live with our de facto disenfranchisement, or…not. It would seem that the fecal matter is about to hit the rotary impeller. As Ace says: “They’ve engineered this coup well.”

That might very well be true. But they’re still reliant on our diffidence, our compliance, our acquiescence, to pull it off. We’ll see about that, I guess.

May God have mercy on us. And may the wheels of His justice grind surpassing fine.

Whither the Left?

Daniel makes an interesting distinction.

The left’s utopian visions are inversions. They take what the left hates about a country and inverts that into an ideal society. These visions appear outwardly positive, but are deeply negative.

The two lefts hate different aspects of America most.

The old left is anti-economic. It hates free enterprise most of all. It is motivated by an endless spite aimed at the middle class and upper class for their success. Its ideal society inverts all that independent economic activity into a system in which resources are “fairly” administered by the state.

The intersectional left is anti-social. It hates white people, men and women living normal lives. It obsessively seeks to deconstruct all of society by attacking its norms as supremacism and oppression. Its ideal society is an intersectional caste system with white people and married couples at the bottom.

The left embodies both an anti-economic and anti-social agenda. The debate is over what comes first.

Both believe that inverting what they believe is the existing power structure and ruling class will undo the oppression that is responsible for all the ills of the world. The old left wants to ‘overthrow’ the middle class and the rich. The intersectional left wants to ‘overthrow’ white people and heterosexuals.

The old left insists that social differences will fade away under Socialism. The intersectional left believes that without social deconstruction, Socialism will just mean white supremacy and hetero-cis power.

The old left believes that the true enemies are the billionaires and that working class white men must be enlisted to fight them. The intersectional left will take money from billionaires to fight working class white men who are the real enemy.

That is the Bernie and Obama split in a nutshell.

Obama will take money from Wall Street to fight white men. Bernie wants white men to fight Wall Street.

Both factions of the left are utterly deranged. Their ideologies are built on hatred and can only cause misery.

Well, it’s certainly worked out that way so far, and not just in America, either.

“Something is wrong with the American Left”

Well, I mean, ummm, y’know, DUH.

The recent spate of violent protests on college campuses has been well-documented, but the violence and intolerance championed by left-wing student activists is beginning to creep off campus and into mainstream public life.

The reason for this is straightforward enough: although progressives pride themselves on their putative tolerance and diversity, the imperatives of leftist politics are fundamentally illiberal. Justice imposed through power is the philosophical foundation of the political left, and when earnest progressives become convinced the only avenue to power is violence, their tolerance quickly falls by the wayside. Consider a few recent events, none of which involved college protesters but all of which were marked by threats of violence.

Last month, left-wing activists in Oregon caused the cancellation of the 82nd Avenue of Roses Parade by threatening to drag “fascists” off the parade route—and by fascists, they meant the Republican Party of Multanomah County. In an email, the activists warned, “we will have two hundred or more people rush into the parade into the middle and drag and push those people out as we will not give one inch to groups who espouse hatred toward lgbt, immigrants, people of color or others.”

Which, of course, nobody is actually doing. By “espousing hatred,” these people actually mean expressing a preference for the traditional definition of marriage; wishing to re-establish our national borders; being quietly unsupportive of and alarmed by riots in support of thuggish, violent criminals who got themselves killed after attacking police officers or resisting arrest; and daring to elect a President who has the outrageous temerity to suggest that he will be cognizant of what nation he was elected to govern, and intends to fulfill his commitment to those who voted for him by actually doing what we sent him to Washington to do.

Having been spited and thwarted—some of them for the first time in their lives—by people they hate, despise, and fear, these reasonable, tolerant, freedom-loving folks immediately turned to rioting, looting, smashing, burning, and other acts of random violence. They have repeatedly demonstrated their intention to implement a semi-soft coup and negate the results of a legitimate national election by manufacturing absurd scandals, hogtying Trump himself by any means they can concoct, intimidating and even assaulting Trump supporters and Republican elected officials whenever they get the chance, resisting or defying laws and executive orders, and generally carrying on as if the election had never taken place—more accurately, as if they had won rather than lost.

Sadly, it’s not entirely unreasonable of them to expect this, because Republicans themselves went along with it for years, acting as if they’d lost whenever they managed to win. No wonder they’re completely gobsmacked; against all expectations, they have a guy in the White House who seems to have meant what he said, and is acting on it, and doesn’t seem in the least ashamed of himself for harboring such otherworldly notions. Why, it’s indecent—damned near unprecedented!

They are crazy as shithouse rats; they are used to having things their own way with little to no serious resistance; they are juvenile in both outlook and action; their political leaders enjoy their power and perks, and have no intention of surrendering them even temporarily, to any degree at all, without a fight.

No matter how many times their unworkable projects fail, no matter the exorbitant and unsustainable expense, no matter the wanton destruction they wreak on the country that sustains them, they expect those they demean, insult, and assault to continue meekly sitting back and acting as punching bags while being bled white in taxation to pay for their never-ending folly.

Our once-mighty economy has been staggering for years; unemployment has long been at previously-unimaginable levels, and nobody even bothers about the unpayable national debt anymore. Our infrastructure is crumbling, our highways and bridges in remarkable disrepair. No one seems surprised or much bothered that, so few years after 9/11, we are now reduced to tolerating a smaller-scale Muslim terror attack every other month or so…IN AMERICA, ON OUR OWN FUCKING SOIL. Democrat-Socialist “leadership” has been careful to remind us that we’ll just have to learn to live with that—that we can “absorb” it.

None of this has happened by accident, and all of it can be laid directly at the feet of Progressivist misrule, with Republican cooperation.

To the Left’s utter shock and dismay, it won’t go on forever; human nature won’t allow it, reality itself won’t. They can continue to foment violence and war if they wish, there’s not much we can do to stop them. But God help them when the long-suffering objects of their abuse begin to turn the tables and use their own tactics against them—directly, vigorously, and without one whit of remorse.

Comey chaos

If this keeps up, I’m going to need to dig out the ol’ thesaurus to find an alternative to the word “dementia,” because we’re all going to be sick of that one.

Comey’s not going to charge Hillary? What a stand-up guy! The very model of a dedicated public servant!

Comey’s re-opened the Hillary investigation? What a partisan hack! He’s just thrown the election to Trump! This is literally a police state!

Comey’s investigating Trump’s ties to Russia? Thank God! This career civil servant is all that stands between us and that fascist dictator!

Comey’s fingering Huma Abedin for forwarding emails to Carlos Danger? God, this Trump stooge won’t let up, will he?

Trump’s fired Comey? How dare he? This is a crisis for the integrity of our institutions…

As it turns out, he misspoke somewhat on the matter of Huma Abedin sending classified emails to her spambot penis of a hubby to print out during breaks from sexting middle-schoolers. Which is how we arrive at the brain-exploding scenario of Trump firing Comey for being unfair to Hillary. Boy, that Putin is always nine chess moves ahead, isn’t he?

He IS good, isn’t he? I mean, he must be: he has Trump in his back pocket, our national elections under his complete control, and driven the America-hating Left into paroxysms of patriotic fervor for the first time since…well, ever. That’s a record of accomplishment anybody might envy.

Trump fires liberal hate-object Comey, just as they’ve been demanding for months; liberals OUTRAGED!

Okay, now it’s just becoming funny.

Comeyhilarity.jpg

Ace has captured all the frothing hilarity, including this bit, wherein noted BirkenstockCon David Frum chokes on his own, umm, cuck:

FrumCuck.jpg
Uhh, well, no, actually, it isn’t. Trump being the duly elected head of state and all, it’s pretty much impossible by definition for him to launch any sort of coup. Well, unless you consider his exercising his right to fire an underling a “coup”—or, more to the point, unless you consider the Deep State inviolable, untouchable, and beyond the exercise of any influence or supervision at all by a mere elected representative of the American people. Thanks for playing and all, but you might want to brush up a little on exactly what kind of country this is supposed to be. Yeah, we’re pretty far removed from it at this point, but some of us still cling to the old ideals, and hope to see at least some of them restored someday. Trump’s letter notifying the blithering incompetent Comey tells the story:

Dear Director Comey:

I have received the attached letters from the Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General of the United States recommending your dismissal as the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. I have accepted their recommendation and you are hereby terminated and removed from office, effective immediately.

While I greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation, I nevertheless concur with the judgment of the Department of Justice that you are not able to effectively lead the Bureau.

It is essential that we find new leadership for the FBI that restores public trust and confidence in its vital law enforcement mission.

I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.

Donald J. Trump

Comey, let’s not forget, is the guy who introduced the idea that a crime committed without evident “intent” to commit a crime is somehow no longer a crime; I’d like to see how that works out for me next time I get a speeding ticket because I was idling along not paying close enough attention to how fast I was driving, or am caught breaking some law I never even knew existed. I’ll be sure to use the Comey Argument when the arresting officer reminds me that “ignorance of the law is no excuse.”

I’m guessing I already know how far that will get me.

But the best part of all is the shrieking outrage from everydamned Leftard in the nation over this. Last week they were calling for Comey’s head for costing Her Herness the election; now giving him his pink slip is high treason, an atrocity, a “coup.”

Which just makes it all the more clear that no matter what Trump does, they’re going to lapse into full-on hysterical screaming fantods. If he unilaterally repealed the Constitution, seized all private business and industry for the government, instituted full-bore single-payer healthcare, and declared us the Socialist Republic of Amerikastan, they’d suddenly discover a new affection for the benefits of free-market capitalism and Constitutionally-protected liberty.

And that’s the beauty of all this, see. Trump has them so discombobulated, so blinded by their mindless hatred of him, that they’re no longer capable of maintaining their focus on their long-time goal of dragging the country as far as possible into the Leftist morass. All they can manage at this point is a reflexive opposition to Trump himself. He’s kind of like freedom’s lightning rod now; as long as they’re so fanatically focused on him, maybe they’ll leave everything else they’re usually fucking with alone, for at least a little while.

Yeah, I know, I know, wishful thinking. I mean, they can’t possibly maintain this extreme level of freaked-out insanity for much longer, can they?

Can they?

Update! Just a reminder for President Trump: No time like the present to get busy on cleaning the rest of Obama’s rats out of the nest, sir. May Comey wind up being merely a good start; there’s no compelling reason to leave even one Obama appointee drawing a federal paycheck for any longer than you absolutely must. Drain that damned swamp, Donald.

Updated update! Adams analyzes:

The news coverage of Comey’s firing has become excellent entertainment. This is the biggest cognitive dissonance cluster bomb we’ve seen since election night. This one has everything.

President Trump’s official reason for the Comey firing has to do with a loss of confidence over his handling of the Clinton email investigation. The beauty of that official explanation (true or not) is that it is making heads explode with Democrats and the Opposition Media. How dare President Trump fire the person we publicly demanded he fire!

These loons are like a dog spinning around and around trying to catch his tail; when he finally gets a good bite at it, he yelps, because it hurts. The Left is so unhinged by being upbraided by the body politic and having their grip on power loosened they can’t help but throw tantrum after tantrum in response, revealing their hateful dementia to all and sundry in a way that can be neither denied nor ignored—at last plunging on past madness into pure self-contradictory comedy. The main distinction between them and the dog is that the dog at least has sense enough to let go when he realizes what his folly is costing him.

Cognitive dissonance was always the stock in trade of a passel of cretins who: A) hate the cops but insist they should be the only ones with guns; B) despise and disparage all religions except the very one that would put them to death in job lots without hesitation; C) have spent decades undermining marriage, but insist on it for a group of approved victims who are in the main uninterested in it; D) have spent decades demanding tolerance for, dialogue with, concessions to, and emulation of Russia, but who all of a sudden hate, distrust, and fear the Evil Empire more than Tailgunner Joe ever did.

All in all a good piece by Scott, possibly excepting this bit:

My opinion of Comey’s handling of the Clinton email issue remains the same. I believe he sacrificed his career and reputation to avoid taking from the American voters their option of having the leader of their choice. If Comey had pushed for Clinton’s indictment, the country would have ended up with a President Trump without a “fair” election. That was the worst-case scenario for the country and the world. Comey prevented that disaster while still making it clear to the American public that Clinton was not guilt-free with her email server. He let the voters decide how much weight to assign all of that. In my opinion, Comey handled the Clinton email situation like a patriot. The media is spinning the situation as “making it all about himself.” That’s true in the same sense that a Medal of Honor winner who jumped on a grenade to save his buddies is “making it all about himself.” I don’t disagree with the characterization that Comey was trying to be the “hero” because that’s how it looks to me too.

Umm, okay, maybe, I guess. Perhaps I’m doing Comey an injustice, but I can’t see him as being that smart. He’s looked all along to me like a career bureaucrat who got nailed at last by the Peter Principle; he never looked to me like he was anything other than a typical mid-to-lower-high level DC plodder who suddenly found himself in way over his head. I could be wrong, of course, and we’ll most likely never really know. But all his hapless floundering around all this time—along with Occam’s Razor—would seem to support it.

The eternal mystery

But only to Lefty super-genii.

Why is it that reporters keep scratching their heads about Venezuela’s descent into extreme poverty and chaos? The cause is simple. Socialism. End it and you will end the misery.

Here is how the Times explained the reason for Venezuela’s dire situation: “The growing economic crisis (was) fueled by low prices for oil, the country’s main export; a drought that has crippled Venezuela’s ability to generate hydroelectric power; and a long decline in manufacturing and agricultural production.”

There’s no mention — not one — of the fact that Hugo Chávez tried to turn Venezuela into a socialist paradise, policies that his successor Nicolás Maduro has continued. The Times’ coverage is par for the course.

As we have noted many times in this space, it is socialism, not oil prices or the weather or greedy businessmen or any other such factor that’s to blame for Venezuela’s economic crisis. This is what socialism produces. Always and everywhere. It is as close to an iron law of economics as there can be.

Yet reporters continue to obfuscate, if not totally ignore, this economic reality when they try to explain to readers what is going on down there.

Why do reporters ignore the obvious? We’d surmise that it’s largely because liberal journalists are infatuated with the idea of socialism.

Well, duh. They’re socialists themselves, and they’re so much smarterer than the rest of us, and…well, this time, it just HAS to work. And if you don’t believe all that, just ask them.

Soak the rich!

Kill the goose that lays those pretty golden eggs.

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)–Connecticut’s state budget woes are compounding with collections from the state income tax collapsing, despite two high-end tax hikes in the past six years.

It means the current budget year, which ends in just two months, is now seriously in the red and next year’s deficit has ballooned to $2.2 billion.

It’s happening because the state of Connecticut depends too much on its wealthy residents, and wealthy residents are leaving, and the ones that are staying are making less, or are not taking their profits from the stock market until they see what happens in Washington.

Why, that’s just wrong, those rich bastards. HOW DARE THEY?!? Obviously, what Connecticut needs to do is just pass a law preventing anybody from leaving. That ought to fix things nicely.

Commie schmucks.

Whether it’s Venezuela or Connecticut, the end stages of socialism are never pretty. But somehow, they always ends up looking pretty much the same.

M’aidez!

I missed out on any commentary on May Day. Luckily, Daniel has it covered:

Most leftists are dilettantes. They admired and admire Communism’s commitment to murdering millions of people and arguing the esoteric dogmas of the party line. It’s this latter that Gornick’s New York Times piece bleeds with nostalgia for. She tells us, again and again, that the Communists were wonderfully inspirational because they sat around kitchen tables arguing about ideas.

So did the Nazis. But the New York Times doesn’t print fond recollections of debates over whether the Japanese really counted as Aryans and how National Socialism should approach the rights of workers. Nostalgia for the Third Reich is rightly regarded as abominable. And the hobby of those who have a soft spot for its murderous totalitarian ideology.

Curiously, the left never applies this same indictment to its own fondness for Communism. Instead it traffics in nostalgia for Communism’s idealism, as if its ideals were any nobler than those of Nazism. But the left believes they were. And how could it not? Communism is just the left taken to its inevitable conclusion.

Actually, I’d take it a bit further: Communism is the Left, period. Or, perhaps more adroitly and accurately put, the Left is Communist. Dress it up how they will; hide it, disguise it, misnomer it. Call it socialism, call it Progressivism, call it liberalism (the most egregious misnomer of them all, and one that didn’t happen by accident)—Communism is Leftism, and Leftism is Communism. Period, full stop, end of story: a totalitarian, authoritarian ideology wherein the State is supreme; rights are not part of our natural inheritance as human beings but granted by the State, and subject to revocation or abridgment as the State may whimsically choose. Wherein individual ambitions and aspirations are subordinate to the needs of the collective as determined by the State. Wherein no individual right to petition the government for redress of grievances is acknowledged, much less honored or respected.

All within the State, nothing outside the State, nothing against the State. This is EXACTLY what the Left wants, and they’ve come all too close to getting it. But it’s as un-American as it’s possible to be.

Well, y’know, FUCK that noise.

The left doesn’t believe that Hitler was bad because he killed Jews. Mass murder isn’t a crime in the left’s eyes. Just ask Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot and the rest of the gang of monsters whom the left defended in papers just like the New York Times until they had committed the worst of their crimes.

As long as the Hitler-Stalin pact held, leftists vehemently campaigned against war. There were plenty of “Hitler is bad, but” pieces of the sort that they’re running about North Korea or Iran. Hitler only became truly irredeemable when he invaded the Soviet Union. And then everyone, except the Trotskyists, decided that Nazi Germany was utterly evil. Leftist fellow travelers went, in the span of days, from protesting “warmongering” and “militarism” to demanding action yesterday.

And that too is another dirty red secret of the left.

It’s inconceivable that the New York Times or any paper would run a glowing piece titled, “When Nazis Inspired Americans”. No fond recollections from participants in the Madison Square Garden rally. No fond memories of Bund camps. No sugar-coated recollections of how the Thousand Year Reich would create a better world… only to then learn that Hitler wasn’t a very nice man.

But “When Communism Inspired Americans” regurgitates the same exact message. And it remains acceptable because the left feels an emotional and intellectual connection with Communists.

That is the ugly truth at the root of our conflict.

Yes, it is. But it also remains acceptable because we have so long shied away from calling them exactly what they are. We’ve allowed them to hijack the terms of the debate and run away with them; we’ve fought them on their terms and their ground without ever questioning their premises or calling them what they really are. We’ve allowed them to paint any negative mention of Communism as out of bounds, the exclusive province of wild-eyed, irrational extremists…even as they themselves have become more openly extreme themselves.

The fact that “McCarthyism” is now such a dirty word, such an unacceptable paradigm—when McCarthy has been proved in the main correct, by documents released after the fall of the Soviet Union itself, for Christ’s sake!—demonstrates just how successful they’ve been at transmogrifying falsehood into a threadbare scrim of accepted truth.

But that’s what Communists do; it’s what they’ve always done, and always will do. To go rummaging about for the needles of accuracy in the massive haystack of Leftist lies and propaganda is worse than a fool’s errand; it plays right into their hands, and is just the kind of distraction they want us to relax haplessly into. It’s a sort of acceptance of defeat, really, an admission of unworthiness and inferiority, a submission.

And the hell of it is, we’ve let them talk us into it, with nary a shot fired or punch thrown. These days we don’t even dare call a Communist a Communist, no matter how Red they paint themselves from top to toe. They launch violent riots in our streets denouncing capitalism, democracy, and freedom of speech while brandishing hammer-and-sickle flags in our very faces with no fear of repercussion at all, burning and looting while the “fascist” cops stand idly by on orders from city hall without lifting a finger. They’re making a serious effort at overturning the result of a legitimate election, while our so-called “leaders” natter amongst themselves about whether they’re willing to commit a pitiful fraction of the grotesque federal budget to repairing a few miles of a border fence that was supposed to have been finished years ago.

And still we take it, as our despicable “leaders” promise us big results next year, or the year after that, maybe, or sometime, eventually. I’ll risk being tedious again by repeating myself: as with the Muslims, so with the Left—you cannot defeat an enemy you’re too timid to call by his rightful name, or even acknowledge as an enemy. Call it the CF Theorem, maybe. I’ll let Daniel sum it all up:

This is the left. It returns, like a dog to its vomit, to the dream of the true radicalism of a totalitarian leftist state. It occasionally deals with uncomfortable truths. Circles around them. And then it lapses back into an opium dream of Marxists sitting around a kitchen table and debating which windows to smash first and whom to shoot first.

And as has been demonstrated more than adequately the last century or so, they’ll have no qualms whatever about embarking on all that smashing and shooting when they deem the time is ripe for it. We just have to make sure there’s a few of us left who retain the means and the will to shoot back, that’s all.

Fuck May Day. Fuck Communists. Fuck the Left. Let them come. At long last: let them come. May they be shown exactly as much mercy as they’d show us, and not one jot or tittle more.

Put another way: may they all die screaming.
