All is lost

July 9th, 2008

Just a few gloomy items to start your day off depressingly:

And if you think it’s bad here: Man in Britain faces 6 months in jail for defending his home.

One more: Glenn says, re this story, that “Of course, ideally we’d leave via Tehran and Riyadh…” And here I’d thought that was the whole WoT idea from the start, taking on not just individual Islamist perps and shadow organizations, but the outlaw states who sponsor them. Silly me.

Maybe I should just go back to bed and wait for the end.

Sounds like Glenn's throwing a hissy fit cause he didn't get his way. What a shitbag.

What about northern New England states that border Quebec (and the French only Parti Quebecois)? OK, ok, so there isn't an influx of illegal French-Canadian immigrants.

When my parents moved us here from Canada my mom didn't speak English, she couldn't answer the phone or the door. Guess what? She didn't insist that those around her learn to speak French... she is fluent in both languages (as am I).

As for univeral or socialized healthcare? The problem isn't the care in the U.S., its the cost. We have the best healthcare in the world, thats why people come here for treatment. If these politicians think that the insurance companies won't go down without a fight, they are sadly mistaken.

We already have a shortage of healthcare workers, specifically nurses, in this country. Um, like making them government employees is going to be incentive to sign right up for those jobs. We only need to look north of the border for plenty of evidence of how thats working out.
