Is Obama An “Unusually Good Liar”?
Remember that line from Bob Kerrey? The memorable line about how Bill Clinton was an “unusually good liar?”
Looks like Barry went to school on Bill. Ace has the scoop here but this story from CBS deserves wide exposure. Doubly so since the MSM is likely to ignore it.
Obama also spoke about his uncle, who was part of the American brigade that helped to liberate Auschwitz. He said the family legend is that, upon returning from war, his uncle spent six months in an attic. “Now obviously, something had really affected him deeply, but at that time there just weren’t the kinds of facilities to help somebody work through that kind of pain,” Obama said. “That’s why this idea of making sure that every single veteran, when they are discharged, are screened for post-traumatic stress disorder and given the mental health services that they need – that’s why it’s so important.” [emphasis added]
You can make the argument that Obama meant Dachau and not Auschwitz and that he misspoke. That is possible.
But can you invent an uncle?
Stanley Ann Dunham, Obama’s mother, was the only child of Stanley Armour Dunham and Madelyn Lee Dunham (née Payne). In other words, Obama didn’t have any uncles in the American Army, because he didn’t have any American uncles.
Will Obama now make the argument that the U.S. military was recruiting Kenyans (excuse me, natives of the British East Africa Protectorate ) in World War II? Is this long lost uncle the brother of his father? I mean, the Army was segregated then, so it’s unlikely that was going on. In fact, it’s unlikely in the extreme. But can you just make stuff up to advance a political point? Yes, we can! Perhaps the campaign slogan should be modified to “Yes, we can as long as the proles don’t notice!”
Oh, and I leave aside the fact that the American Army wasn’t organized in “brigades” in WWII. The brigade-type equivalent was called a “Combat Command.” But you can expect people who generally disdain the military to be oblivious to small but telling details such as this.
By the way, is Barry’s fictional uncle anything like dodging sniper fire in Bosnia? I mean, after all, the Obama camp excoriated Hillary! for just making things up. On the face of it Obama is not opposed to just making shit up, as long as he’s the one doing it.
But remember, all this is a distraction from the “real issues” facing the American people. Send out David Axelrod in four, three, two…one.
UPDATE: Over at Ace’s Baldilocks points out it could be a Great Uncle of Obama’s to whom he refers. Point taken. But that is not what Black Political Jesus said according to the CBS story. I would bet the story got it right the first time simply because Barry has proven over and over again that he’s not ready for prime time.
UPDATED UPDATE: So we have our answer, it was his great uncle. It’s comforting to know Dems think it’s OK for Obama to be as great a moron as George W. Bush with all those gaffes and whatnot. See? Isn’t this a great country? I keep waiting for the KosKidz to tell me how stupid Obama is since he keeps tripping over his tongue. That’s what all those gaffes mean, right? Is anyone keeping track? Why yes, people are noticing.
