Berkeley blowback

February 1st, 2008

Bryan says it doesn’t go far enough, and I couldn’t agree more:

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) released the following statement in response to the decision by the City Council of Berkeley, California to evict the U.S. Marine Corps Recruiting Station from the city.

“This is a slap in the face to all brave service men and women and their families. The First Amendment gives the City of Berkeley the right to be idiotic, but from now on they should do it with their own money. If the city can’t show respect for the Marines that have fought, bled and died for their freedom, Berkeley should not be receiving special taxpayer funded handouts. I am currently drafting legislation to ensure that American taxpayers aren’t forced to pay for this insult by rescinding all of the earmarks for Berkeley in the Omnibus Appropriations bill, and to transfer the funds to the Marine Corps.”

Cut the officious, sanctimonious cretins off without a cent, says I. Unilaterally rescinding the social contract ought not to come cheap. This image from Matt Sanchez is just too good not to pilfer myself:

Now don’t you feel a lot safer knowing the useless little oxygen thief on the left is out there walking a post?

Good grief. Sometimes I feel like the whole damned country has jumped headlong down the rabbit hole.

Your recent actions against the Marine recruiters borders on treason in my opinion. You "men &women?" who make decisions for your city should, at the very least, be impeached. I, personally would offer a much stronger solution to your arrogance. WHO gave you the right to meet and make democratic decisions? WHO gave their lives so that you would have these rights? Certainly not the pink brigade who you gave parking spaces so they could demonstrate. By the way, a right given to them by the many men who died to keep these rights. Being a lady, I cannot possibly tell you as graphically as I would like, what I think of you. However, for treasonous acts like this should be handled by the military, and typically, it would be death by firing squad.

If it weren't for the laws prohibiting the use of federal troops on US soil I'd recommend the following:

Send the Marine Silent Drill Team to Berkley. Have them march down whatever the main drag is in that disgrace to the union.

Oh, and have them escorted by a full battalion of Marines in full battle dress, with all the sundry armor and heavy units, under orders to protect the Drill Team with extreme prejudice.

Parade permit? We don't need no stink'n parade permit!

And film the whole thing for use in the next Marine recruitment video. :D

And just for fun, send in the Blue Angels for air support.

Fuloydo, I like the way you think, buddy. I'd await that vid with bated breath, thumping heart, and the biggest grin on my face you ever saw.

    I'm blushing here.

It would be an awesome vid though, wouldn't it?

Tanks, Bradly's, choppers providing air support, heavily armed Marines advancing down the strip providing cover at intersections. All while the best damned drill team in the world marches down the center of the road doing what they do so well.

As they say over at Ace's place, I'll be in my bunk. ;)

The same parade is needed in Brattleboro, too.

This is exactly correct. The Berkeley crowd cannot protect us unless the enemy dies laughing.

I don't get it. Why do you think they need a battalion+ with air & armor? This is Berzerkerly we're talking about. A platoon of Marines or soldiers with sidearms should be plenty. Um, better make sure their shots are up to date though... no telling what they might catch from the smelly hippies. There's no telling where they've been.

Dream on, boys and girls. We all know how this is going to end - the Marines will vacate their lease and move out, and Berkeley will have a month long block party celebrating their victory.

These cretins deserve to live in the kind of country they think they're living in. If they were, they'd be in some basement cell or lying in a shallow grave. And they'll never, ever realize how fortunate they are to be so wrong. Thanks, in large part, to these Marines they hate so much.

It's a nearly universal trait of cowards everywhere to hate the brave.

I didn't say I thought they needed a battalion with air and Armor. I just think it would be a nice touch. The video would be so much more enjoyable, too.

Hell, for that matter I doubt the Drill Team would need any support. They do their thing with fixed bayonets. I doubt they'd even need ammunition.

But, if we're going to violate someone's territory, let's do it right.
