Another quick roundup

September 20th, 2007

Just got time for another quick link dump before putting my nose back to the ol’ grindstone again:

  • Ahmajihadi ought to be prevented from going anywhere near American hallowed ground — or American ground, period, as far as I’m concerned, unless it’s in shackles. Here are only a few solid explanations why. Related: wonder if the Rotsee-hating ratbags at Columbia would be nearly as eager to have, say, David Duke come give ‘em a little intellectual stimulation and thought-provoking debate?
  • Somebody, can’t remember who, called this the “feel-good story of the year” — and that it most certainly is
  • Ace gets off the best line of the week, one that could be meaningfully and accurately applied in so many places of late: “Apparently thorazine isn’t yet speaking truth to early-onset dementia…”
  • Wrong Turn In Life department: this one is almost as good, if less, uh, pleasant for…uhhh, some of us, let’s say, to contemplate: “To most women, a writer is a self-absorbed misfit with poor personal hygiene and lamentable earning potential—we’re only a whisker above drummers in the future husband-material stakes.” I’m thinking of trying acting next myself. Another great line I saw someplace or other, in reference to that: “There may be quicker ways of starving, but none so sure.”
  • I noticed a couple of weeks ago that Wuzzadem had closed up shop, and I just wanted to express my own thanks to John and the missus for three years of the best P-shopblogging since Allahpundit left Blogspot. Thankfully, a worthy successor may be stepping up to the plate, though
  • At one time I shared the neocons’ optimism about the establishment of democracy in Iraq leading to real change in the Middle East. I’m not nearly as sanguine about that these days, I do admit it — and Thomas Sowell makes his usual damned strong case for remaining doubtful

Normal blogging should resume no later than Tuesday, folks. What the hell ever “normal” means. ;)
