No bias to see here, folks
DAMN that right-wing corporate Republican-shill conservative media anyway!
Update! DAMMIT. Well, so much for Fred…it was sweet while it lasted.
Updated update! Just thinking about this here: this is an object lesson for those “high road” Republicans. This sort of powerlusting arrogance is what your modesty, moderation, and politesse gets you each and every time: a good, sharp kick in the teeth, via sanctimonious lecture from a tyrannical, hypocritical dunce.
When will you priggish wimps ever learn? These people shouldn’t be bargained with, or “respected” as “esteemed colleagues.” They should be beaten down into the dirt and run over like the mad dog Leftist extremists they are. After all, they’d do the same for you…and have, time after time after time.
Politics is a dirty, rough and tumble business; it always has been, and it always will be — because the stakes here aren’t some tea-party door prize, with a civil bow and handshake all around when the fur stops flying. The stakes are the right to decide the future direction of this country, a country whose founding principles we revere but Democrats don’t. That’s right, I said Democrats don’t, and I meant it; stop flopping around on the damned floor and hyperventilating, willya? They don’t — because they can’t.
Such reverence for something so fundamentally callow and unrefined as mere national identity directly contradicts their “citizen of the world” egotism. It’s why they’ve spent the last forty years or so telling us how simpleminded and “jingoistic” even the most innocuous expressions of patriotism are. It’s why the damnable “BUT…” starts ringing in our ears before they can even finish grudgingly muttering the phrase “I love my country…” Why should any of us bother feeling sheepish or obdurate about questioning the patriotism of someone whose favorite catchphrase has always been the one identifying the “last refuge of a scoundrel”?
And just because they’ve found it politically necessary the last few years to hastily cook up a watered-down, Eurostyle form of patriotic pablum to be listlessly regurgitated in extremis doesn’t mean they’re remotely sincere about it; it merely means that they’re adept at sniffing out which way the political winds are blowing, and that their always-acute sense of electoral self-preservation is as keen as ever it was.
The sooner you “we’re better than they are” Republican snobs learn that there’s no such thing as a fair fight — and especially not when those you’re fighting are the most base sort of dung-eating hyenas imaginable — the sooner you’ll start winning again. And if you’d been fighting to win all along, you wouldn’t be where you are now: choking down smug insults from a complete Demo-dipshit like Barbara Boxer, ferchrissakes.
Sick of it yet? Because I can tell you that an awful lot of us surely are — enough so that we’re ready and willing to forget all about you Republicans and find someone else to vote for; someone who’s truly in it to win it, and is not too courtly and genteel (read “chickenshit”) to call a spade a spade — and a hammer-and-sickle-totin,’ jihadi-coddlin’, UN-fellatin’, nanny-state-lovin’ Social Democrat a commie traitor.
If hapless, patrician Republican boobs don’t learn anything else from their well-earned ‘06 smackdown, they ought to learn the lesson implicit in what I just said. Maybe then they could start to turn things around.
Update to the updated update! Then again…

Fred's still The Man!
I was just trying to milk AP's joke for a little more mileage...
You adopt the other side's tactics, in a lot of ways, you start looking (and acting) just like them.

I didn't see the interaction in question, but JPod's assessment looks a lot more reasonable than Michelle's, which is presented without context.
I for one am sick of Congressional inquisitions where the Congressional questioner's intent is to hector a "witness" with humiliating or condescending "questions" that are nothing of the kind. And I don't care whether it's a Republican or a Democrat that's doing it.
