Just don’t question their patriotism
VDH:
The costs in Iraq have been high and the losses tragic. But nothing in the past three years has convinced me otherwise than that in a post-September 11 world Saddam had to be removed on ethical and strategic grounds…
Once a democratically elected Iraqi government emerged, and a national army was trained, the only way we could lose this war was to forfeit it at home, through the influence of an adroit, loud minority of critics that for either base or misguided reasons really does wish us to lose. They really do.
It’s still difficult now and then to to sit back and contemplate the unpleasant truth of it. But truth it most certainly is.
Update! And speaking of questioning their patriotism, one more from the “don’t get it, never will” department: Dixie Chick Natalie Maines says it out loud and proud, so other Leftards don’t have to:
The Chicks can’t hide their disgust at the lack of support they received from other country performers. “A lot of artists cashed in on being against what we said or what we stood for because that was promoting their career, which was a horrible thing to do,” says Robison.
“A lot of pandering started going on, and you’d see soldiers and the American flag in every video. It became a sickening display of ultra-patriotism.”
“The entire country may disagree with me, but I don’t understand the necessity for patriotism,” Maines resumes, through gritted teeth. “Why do you have to be a patriot? About what? This land is our land? Why? You can like where you live and like your life, but as for loving the whole country… I don’t see why people care about patriotism.”
Bold mine. And there you have it, libs: we question your patriotism because, despite your queasy, half-hearted protestations, you clearly don’t have any. After all, as someone else said not so long ago, so many of you have spent so many years questioning it yourselves. Let one election — well, okay, several — fail to go your way, and you’re all ready to flush the whole country down the toilet and condemn the American experiment in toto a failure.
Well, so sorry if the majority of us think that makes you a bunch of sniveling, contemptible, and yes, unpatriotic sore losers. But that’s the way it is. Cry me a river, cupcake.
There can be no rational explanation of how Maines’s remark came to drive a red-hot poker into America’s divided soul, but it’s only now that some of the poison has begun to dissipate.
No rational explanation — for people getting a bit ticked off when someone implies that they’re misguided idiots for loving their country, insults their elected leaders on foreign soil during a war, and then whines about the response she gets for her ill-considered remarks. No, there certainly couldn’t possibly be any rational explanation for that.
Sheesh. You have to wonder sometimes how they’ve managed to feed themselves all these years. Their blinding, unwavering blockheadedness is so intense it could blot out the sun.

1) PISSING all over our Soldier's Mission in Iraq
2) Broadcasting all of our mistakes to our enemies
3) Publicly showcasing all of our Military Secrets to our Enemies (Such as our interrogation secrets (ACLU's relentless FOIAs have forced Pentagon to reveal them))
4) Refusing to reveal our Soldier's Accomplishments unless the news can be distorted to make them look like Failures
5) Complaining about how Republicans accuse the Media and Liberals of not being patriotic
6) Showcasing ISLAMIC solidarity just days after September 11th, 2001.
"The Chicks can’t hide their disgust at the lack of support they received from other country performers."
There it is, the narcissism fully on display.
"Why should I care about something other than me?" "Why are you being mean to me?" It's all about mememememememememememe!
Yep, that's it.
Those two sisters must be so glad they fired their first lead singer to bring in Maines. She's transformed from an albatross around their necks to a boat anchor.
No, not about the utility of patriotism.
I mean about how the whole country disagrees with her.
Conservatives and moderates disagree with her on the merits. Libs disagree with her because they have to, otherwise they won't win any more elections. Man, she must feel like an oracle today...
