Shocking and unbelievable

May 14th, 2006

Proving once again that the citizenry is generally made of better, sterner stuff than the poltroons, clock-punchers, and thieves they elect (I have several Dutch friends who I know are deeply ashamed of some in their country’s government right about now). The people behind this astoundingly immoral and cowardly move really ought to be removed from office and locked up before they do any further damage to Western Europe’s already less-than-noble image. It’s almost enough to make one wonder if Western civilization is really worth defending, if these craven, weak, repellent slugs are the kind of people it eventually produces. They richly deserve the kind of treatment radical Islam has in store for them, and it makes me sick to know that there are more than a few here in the States who will superciliously nod their heads in agreement with them.

Update! Jeff says:

U.S. lawmakers should immediately, and in a bi-partisan manner, offer Ali asylum and citizenship. Such a move would let the world know, yet again, who stands for universal individual rights, and who is willing to shoulder the risks associated with guarding those rights.

Damned straight. Not to even mention providing a much-needed and well-earned thumb in the eye to perpetually-seething Islamist freaks and Western baglappers both. To hell with every man Jack of them.

Updated update! Excellent. Welcome to freedom, ma’am. And isn’t it dismally ironic that the Dutch, who have always prided themselves on tolerance and individual liberty, have now allowed themselves to become a society in which anyone who dares to tell the truth about radical Islam is unwelcome?

I agreed with Jeff, and said we should because (a) the Islamofascist scum hate us anyway; and (b) the tablet next to the base of the Lady of the Lamp says we should.

    Good enough for me.

With all the people taken in, this is one that would fall under asylum guidelines, IMO. If she were deported somewhere she might well be imprisoned or killed. It isn't that only immigrant citizens are endangered either. Theo Van Gogh was killed only a short time back.

Europe speaks well throughout her history of artistic and philosophical greatness. If they turn on her they turn their backs on that legacy. The principles of civilization - the best of those principles - are being put to the test in our time.

Then again I would like if our country accepted Cuban refugees more readily, but....

Throughout the 20th Century the US has benefited from exiles from Europe escaping the onset of fascism and communism in European capitals. Today Europe is becoming blighted by a little of both. I am proud Ms. Hirsi chose to grace us with her presence.
