Prediction

Michele’s got it right, I think:

23 paragraphs in the NYT endorsement. Only three of those paragraphs detail why the NYT supports Kerry. The rest is an anti-Bush manifesto worthy of Democratic Underground.

Even our nation’s vaunted media can’t come up with enough cogent reasons to vote for Kerry other than he’s not George Bush.

I predict that if Kerry does win, there will be a very short honeymoon period in which his presidency is celebrated. Eventually the reality will set in for the millions that voted on the “he’s not Bush” agenda. Kerry will end up with the lowest approval rating of any president in recent history. The morale of our nation will go into its own little recession.

Just my little prediction for the day.

But I assure you, he isn’t going to win. And after reading a certain few things over the weekend, I’ve got more solid reasons to believe that now than I did before. More on that just as soon as I can get around to it; got to head out to the DMV this morning, and God only knows how long that’s going to take.

She is too kind to the NYT. The Kerry paragraphs are "We like him and think he is smart" with not a single detail or reason, while the Bush paragraphs are "he did this and it is bad". Worse, quite a few of their Bush stories should be read aloud by Edward Everett Horton (of "Fractured Fairy Tales"), being misleading or even debunkedd before.

Heh- you mention "Fractured Fairy Tales" and the thought of the Fairy being caught in that book snapping shut comes to mind...

From someone who has experienced the UK's DVLC, the Austrian Verkehrsamt and the Israeli Misrad Htachbura (yes), I hope you are successful with your mission deep within the DMV. May the force be with you etc.

The Left cannot produce a candidate who adequately represents more than a small portion of their electorate, so they do the next best thing. They push their candidate based on a generated dislike for the other party's candidate. There has always been a veiled dishonesty in politics. However, as a political party loses its mainstream support, the application of dishonest representation gets revved up. That is what we are seeing now. When you factor in the application of instantaneous dissection of every statement in the growing cynicism of the informed, the party losing their bearings loses much more with each invalid utterance. A virtual library is now available to categorize their failings, misstatements, and insincerity. The leaders of their charge no longer possess an honored reputation, but one of cartoon characters. A country of cynics does not bode well for an ideology based on hyperbole and class warfare.

The irony is that anyone who the press gets into office, that they want' would automatically have them as a cheering section. So one cannot automatically assume that a Democrat would become so unpopular.
