Perfect

April 29th, 2004

Ricky West has come up with a great analogy that’s near and dear to my own Bundy-lovin’ heart:

Anyone else get the feeling after the 932,231st reference that John Kerry (and his minions) talking about Vietnam is starting to come across like Al Bundy talking about the 4 touchdowns he scored for Polk High that one game?

Want to talk about national defense? Kerry served in Vietnam.
Want to discuss his conflicting statements? He served in Vietnam.
Bring up his voting on funding for the military? Hey, you’re questioning the patriotism of someone who, by the way, served in Vietnam.

I hereby dub thee John “Bundy” Kerry. The service was exemplary, Senator, but it’s not the playoff game @ Polk High, any more. Time to direct your staff to get with the big leagues. Otherwise, as I’ve predicted earlier, this will not be a close election.

All true enough, but as much as I like this, I can’t help but feel that Al would be mighty upset by this one. Either way, next time I’m in Atlanta I owe you a beer, Rick. And a copy of “Big ‘Uns.”

Wait a minute, John Kerry served in Viet Nam? I hadn't heard that... must not be a big news item.

Kerry has once again mis-identified his opponent. He thinks this Medal-gate flap is coming from the RNC. Try HRC, John. When she's through with him, he'll be driving a Duster to his gig at the shoe store.

Kerry served in Vietnam when he could have avoided it.

Bush and Cheney did everything they could to avoid vietnam service. They can't even claim principle as justification, like the COs who fled to Canada, etc.

That makes them cowards in my eyes.

Every brave American and real conservative should try to get rid of these militarily ignorant bumblers who have made a mess out of Iraq. The latest Cheney/Bush move: a ceasefire that allowed Falujah to reload, followed by a withdrawal when the marines had 80% of Falujah and were on the verge of total victory, is further evidence of the malevolent incompetence of these two fools. Ptoooey!

They have made me ashamed to be a conservative: I now tell people I'm an independent. The letters "USA" seem to be tatooed on my forehead, so I couldn't hide that even if I wanted, which I don't.

bliffle, Delta is waiting when you are, don't let us stop you from finding the country you clearly long to live in, perhaps......... France? And btw, you really sound conservative, almost as conservative as a Kennedy...

    bliffle,
Please get that USA off your forehead before you move to France. They already think we're all idiots, no need for you to reinforce that opinion.

Bliffle, nice to see that you are right on top of the administrations strategy. Wait by the red phone, all night, did we?
Bush was flying fighter jets in Texas, and could have gone to war at anytime. I do not believe that qualifies as dodging the war. Cheney, well hey, no one is perfect. And neither was Clinton, the smooth.
Bush is not perfect, lots of things his administration do that I do not agree with.
That said, I believe that the strategies they have used in the past, once the game was over, have proved, nearly 100% of the time, to have been the right move.
Crying BEFORE the milk is spilled never helped anything.

I think what grinds Democrats about Bush's military service is this:

Bush was actively defending America's southern flank from the Soviets during the Cold War. He did a good job of it for over a year, and is proud of his service. We won that war.

John Kerry spent four months in Vietnam, according to Kerry, "committing war crimes" (HIS claim folks -- not mine). He was not proud of his service -- at the time, although he is now . . . at least for a little while. We lost that war.

Bush winner -- Kerry loser. It's that simple.
